Yo–Yo Ma
Yo–Yo Ma is a Chinese American cellist. He was born October 7, 1955 in Paris, France. He was a child prodigy, and after studying many
instruments Ma chose the cello. He began performing at the age of four and a half. At the age of seven his family moved to New York where he
attended the Juilliard School. At sixteen he enrolled at Harvard University. He graduated in 1976 with a bachelor's degree in liberal arts.
Yo–Yo Ma's performing career has no boundaries. He has performed with the world's major orchestras, heads of states, public schools, television,
and Hollywood films. His most familiar performances to the general public was on television series: The West Wing, Sesame Street and Mister
Rogers' Neighborhood. He worked with composers on movie scores: Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, Seven Years in Tibet and Memories of a Geisha.
Ma publicly performed in 1986 at the 100th anniversary of the Statue of Liberty, and in 2002 at the site of the World Trade Center while the names of

Have you ever broken something? Maybe an object went flying towards a house and ended up shattering a window. Maybe a lamp fell over and

That's what happened at the Spanish Palace in Madrid, where a Stradivarius cello slid off the table during a photo shoot. The Stradivarius had
decided to be auctioned off at a sale soon after, for the price of 20 million dollars. Experts were handing the Stradivarius, but no one foretold this

The `unmentionable' in his story inevitably carries sexual connotations, but homosexuality truly occupies the `sin' that cannot be named. Rather than

The movie The Red Violin is a drama written and directed by filmmaker Francois Girard, which follows the history of a mysterious and intriguing
musical instrument over the span of 300 years. Francois Girard got the idea for the movie from events involving the legendary red Mendelssohn, a

cards and as each one is turned up and read during the movie it adds to the suspense of what will happen in each story. The creative way of how each
story connects the violin to the next story with the end resulting in a twist to the tale, captivates its audience. Each place portrayed in the movie,

long life and travel far, leaving one to surmise her 'soul' from her blood on the violin was what the psychic really saw in the card readings similar to

MYSO's very own ensemble, Sinfonia. On Sunday February 14th at the Shattuck Music Center Auditorium located inside Carroll University I was able
to attend this wonderful concert. I was inspired by the music I heard. Sinfonia and Frank Almond's playing combined made this concert one of my
favorites, the music was beautiful and the intonation was very accurate.There were also a few elements that I didn't expect within the concert one of

Violins. I was very impressed by the soloists' abilities to stay together and start and end at the same position of their bows. Not only had these soloists
