Leadership Is Something That Should Be Paid
I believe that leadership is something that should be earned. Whoever is the most qualified and
passionate should be the person who leads, not the most popular. I believe that having integrity and
expecting it at all times from your team is the best way to operate. I believe that leaders cannot
always be the "good guys" in every situation. I believe that it is important to find people who will
help you most achieve your goal, but ones who are loyal, passionate, and want to grow personally.
Mutual respect in any situation will allow for people to speak their minds, even if it is difficult. I
want to help my team members find their passions and help them succeed outside of our
organization. I believe that leadership is about encouraging others to buy into your values, and
cheering them on when they gain recognition for their work. Being a leader was never something
that I had to think about. I knew that leaders existed and that they were important to how businesses
and companies ran their operations, but other than that I never consciously decided that I was going
to be a leader when I was younger. As I grew up and found myself getting more involved with my
community, I realized that I was acting like a leader even though I didn't feel like I was acting any
different than my normal self. My demeanor, leadership learning moments, and mentors all helped
me to find my "leadership voice", and it has allowed me to grow into who I am as a leader. My
parents have had

Relationship Between Employee Engagement And Banking Sector
Nature of Employee Engagement in Banking Sector
Submitted by Petroniu Andriesi Executive Summary
Employee engagement has a huge impact on the motivation of the workforce. It impacts employees'
passion and attitude towards their day–to–day responsibilities. The banking sector employs a
significant percentage of workforce. However, various engagement policies have been initiated in
the banking sector. The first step has been recognizing the role of immediate supervisor as the key
person in driving employee engagement. Banks are also building a value– based culture, talent
management strategies, mentorship and training, internal communication and feedback mechanisms
and transformative leadership. These strategies infuse a passionate workforce dedicated to the
accomplishment of the organization goals. The level of engagement is the banking sector can be
considered moderate but has gained momentum and is likely to improve over the years. The
primarily limitations of employee engagement are that they do not necessarily guarantee increased
productivity, the costs implication are high and employee engagement does not necessarily
guarantee employee retention.

Five Values Conceptual Framework Of Purchasin
3. CUSTOMER PERCEIVED VALUE OF PURCHASING PC
3.1. Model (Sheth et al, 1991): Five Values Conceptual Framework
According to Sheth et al (1991), the customer perceived value has five dimensions including
functional, conditional, social, emotional, and epistemic values. This value derived from the
behaviour of the customer and overall purchasing criteria. Furthermore, this dimension clearly
illustrates the ability of the customer to choose whether to continue buying the product or vice versa.
In the purchase of PCs and electronic equipment, the model Sheth et all (1991) is highly compatible
and this is supported by the dimensions as well description of the model. It is clearly explained user

With extrinsic value, consumption is prized for its functional or utilitarian instrumentality in serving
to accomplish some further purpose. The extrinsic values for a PCs manufacturer inclusive
providing the variety of available product, provide 24/7 online purchases, discount and rewards
point, latest technology and extended support & warranty. By having these values, the PCs
manufacturers are always a leader and maintain their reputation to become the best and reliable
product available in the market. The intrinsic value, on the other hand, concerns the consumption
experience as appreciated in itself (Lexhagen, 2009). As part of business strategy, exclusive store
outlets, for example, are clean, tidy, convenience and PC showroom is always available.
Furthermore, most of these store outlets are in the shopping complex whereby the customers are
enjoyable and experience others such as buying groceries and refreshment. The intrinsic value also
includes the aesthetic values, these values are incorporated in the product design which exclusively

Coaching Philosophy
Sporting philosophies are tremendously important for current and aspiring coaches to understand
and develop, when identifying the psychology behind the human performer, it is imperative to
understand the different philosophies and known topics that are associated to this module, these
ideas and philosophies can refer to as burnout, character development and talent identification.
These three philosophies are closely linked together through the different progressions and obstacles
a coach may come across. It is understood that coaching philosophy is known as our personal creed,
set of beliefs and knowledge base which helps guide our own thoughts, actions and leadership style.

This can be done through recognising intrinsic and extrinsic behaviours in training or matches, as
stated above, weight loss, loss of self–confidence and other psychological and physical changes.
This can normally be prevented by taking time out and using arousal control strategies; this can
mean bringing back the fun factor, to pre–plan mental practice periods in which will help the
performer's state of mind. When looking further into burnout, an interesting study by (Feltz, Lirgg &
Albrecht, 1992) completed a study highlighted the impact sport has on young performers, they
found that there was a notable rise in specialization that occurred in youth sports, more young
athletes are selecting to play a single sport to take part in all year round at younger age, with
infrequent breaks and rest, the participation sustained in one sport is believed to increase the risk of
sport related injuries, peer isolation, burnout and psychological problems, nevertheless the study
concluded that it has both positive and negatives effects, it positively benefits the numerous and
span domains, which include physical, physiological and social development which is an extremely
important part of sports

The Theory : Deontology, Consequentialism, And Virtue Ethics
2. Alternative that I chose
Under all three theories – deontology, consequentialism, and virtue ethics, providing my customers
all information that I was aware of should be the most appropriate course of action that I should
perform. In this situation, I chose to do so, but I did not have an openly communication with my
manager about my ethical dilemma.
3. Context
In the past, as employees in an organization, we were expected to follow what our employers said
without expressing our opinion. However, the age of social medial today brought us opportunities to
speak up and broadcast when we see something wrong. This aligns the value on doing work with
our personal values when we know our own values and how to giving voice to them. In order to
beginning to voice values effectively, we should know ourselves, know our organization, commit to
voice, practice, and look for openings, enlist allies.
Knowing myself, I am an introverted person and I am not willing to share my opinion to others if I
assume that they will not agree with me. When I face an ethical dilemma, I tend to struggle with it
by myself before consulting with others. Therefore, I did not discuss about the unethical suggestion
of my manager with him, but I decided to provide full information about the project to my
customers. I know that my firm wants to create and maintain customer values, but it seems that the
short–term benefits from the Thu Do JSC's project diverted my firm's goal from building and

Summary: The Immortal Of Henrietta Lacks
There are two types of values that everybody seeks, these values are intrinsic and extrinsic. An
intrinsic value is something that is pursued for its own sake, while an extrinsic values are something
that does not have intrinsic qualities. Because intrinsic goods are pursued for their own sake, they
are inherently good. However, people pursue other things in life without a goal in mind, these things
aren't necessarily intrinsic goods, but rather a leisurely activity that one uses to waste time. The
intrinsic good that is necessary for the good life is something that one seeks for it's beauty,
knowledge, or goodness. The true, the good, and the beautiful are aspects of an intrinsic good that
reflect a more meaningful and pure dimension to human nature. The true and knowledgeable reflect
a meaningful and pure dimension to human nature because it is something that one is always on a
quest to seek for its own sake. Almost everybody in the world is pursuing some type of knowledge
whether it be for a career, a hobby, religion, or out of pure curiosity. There have been a few people
that we have studied throughout the semester pursued knowledge for its own sake. An example of
one of these people is Rebecca Skloot, who is the author of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks.

One can find beauty in art and nature. People pursue beauty because it brings them happiness for its
own sake. Chris McCandless spent his life seeking beauty because that's what made him happy.
Many people in the world seek and create beauty for many of same reasons. Bob Marley pursued his
passion for music because it brought beauty and passion into his life, and because he was bringing
beauty into other peoples lives as well. Basically, beauty brings people happiness because of the
simplicity of something being beautiful, this brings meaning and purity to

When People Hear The Word Doping, They Think Of Athletes
When people hear the word doping, they think of athletes using drugs such as, erythropoietin, so
that they will have an advantage in their sport. However, the doping we are talking about today is
the type where elements are added to semiconductors to change its characteristics. Doping is the
process that changes the electrical conductivity of a semiconductor, like silicon. Doping is done by
adding foreign elements to the semiconductor so that the amount of valence electrons changes.
A semiconductor is a material that partly conducts electricity, it is in between an insulator and a
conductor. Semiconductors have four electrons in their valence shell, and since there needs to be
eight in the shell for it to be stable, it just has to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through doping, it creates two groups of semiconductors, N–type, which have a negative charge and
P–type, which have a positive charge. These different types of semiconductors are very important to
the world, because when the different types are used together they can create devices with special
electrical devices that have the ability to control electrical signals. Before semiconductors there were
vacuum tubes, which did the same job as semiconductors, but they were not as fast or as small as
them. Vacuum tubes, however, are very rugged and durable they can go through temporary overload
conditions.
Doped semiconductors are very useful, as they make up the base for diodes. A diode is an electronic
component that is used to make signal limiters, voltage regulators, switches, etc. Doped
semiconductors also make transistors, they are devices that regulate the current flow and they act as
a switch or gate for electronic signals. Transistors have three layers of semiconductors and when one
layer senses a small change of current it creates a rapid change in the current through the whole
component. As one can see, doped semiconductors are very important as they make the base of
many electronic devices that we use daily The effects of doping semiconductors were known for a
long time in devices like crystal radio detectors and selenium rectifiers. In 1885 and 1930, Shellford
Bidwell and Bernhard Gudden

An Examination of Genders in World Regions
In societies past and present, there have been a variety of ways in which the genders have valued.
Although the regions of our world value different icons, gods, or elements, there is one thing in
which all cultures value, and that is the people of their society. Since people are high on a culture's
priority list, they value people in different way. Some cultures decide that one sex is superior over
the other. Although everyone is valued, there are certain times when some sexes are favored over the
other. There have been many primary documents which show us which sex the different cultures
value. This will show us that around the world people are not valued the same. This will give us an
insight on who these different worldly people value. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Chinese culture it was shown what a gentleman can do to help himself. In the Indian culture,
it shows what a woman can do to help save herself. In the Indian culture, there is a ceremony called
sati. Sati can be described as a traditional burning of the wife. This only occurs after her husband
has passed away and the wife throws herself into the burning flames which have engulfed her
husband's remains. If a wife participated in this ceremony she is considered faithful to her husband.
It is said that, "The wife who enters into the fire when her husband dies, imitating Arundahati, (a
star, regarded as the wife of one of the Seven Rishies, and as a typical faithful spouse) in her
behavior, enjoys bliss in heaven." This will not only free her soul but also her husband's soul. She is
also considered saving herself when she leaps into the fire. In those times, being a widow is
miserable. This is shown as, "There is no other misery for women like, widowhood. Happy is she
among women who dies before her husband." It says that she will be just as happy as any woman
who has died before her husband. While she is saving herself and her husband, she is also saving
three of her families. It is said that, "A woman who follows after her husband shall surely purify
three families: her mother's, her father's, and that into which she was given in marriage." She

Rise of Disciplinary Problems
The rise of disciplinary problems among students in SMK Jalan Bunga

From : Mohd Badrul Akram bin Sazali (Head Prefect)
Subject : Rise of Disciplinary problems
Date : 12 October 2012
Recently, there has been a drastic rise in disciplinary cases among the students of SMK Jalan Bunga,
Sg. Panjang. It has caught the attention of many teachers and myself as the Head Prefect of this
school. We do not want this scenario to continuously ruin the good reputation of this school. A
survey and interviews have been carried out to investigate the core reasons towards this alarming
issue. It has been identified that there are many causes that have led to this serious problem. ... Show

However, they do not actually realize the importance of practicing it in daily life.
On top of that, financial problems also contribute to the students' misbehavior. Due to lack of
money, some students steal other students' money or belonging . There have been many cases of
money being stolen and bags with new books lost too. Although they can be categorized as
underprivileged students, this does not give them the right to steal other peoples' money and things.
They should however be given help by the school authority.
Apart from that, peer pressure is definitely one of the reasons why students are involved in
disciplinary cases. Nowadays, there is a current trend where 'good is bad' and 'bad is good'. The bad
guys in school are seen as 'cool' and the good guys are seen as 'nerds'. Thus, some students join these
bad gangs to be well–known and if they do not join or do not carry out disciplinary problems, they
may be labeled as 'losers'. This will demotivate them thus in the end, they feel that they have no
choice except for being a follower of the 'gangsters'. If not, they may lose friends and power.
On top of that, influence from mass media is also a factor. The mass media controls teenagers in
many ways and especially in terms of behavior. The students tend to 'copycat' what they see in the
internet, television, movies and etc. However, the sad

Argument Of Desire Satisfactionism
In this essay, I will argue for Restricted Actual Desire Satisfactionism as the best argument for the
theory. My argument proceeds in 4 sections: In the first section, I will articulate Lukas' argument for
self–regarding restriction and why idealized restriction does not work well. In the second section, I
will show that Lukas' argument for self–regarding restriction is not the best form of argument for
Desire Satisfactionism, for the restriction that only desires which are relevant to well–being are
counted can encompass irrelevant desires as well. In the third section, I will offer a response on
Lukas' behalf. Finally, in the fourth section, I conclude that this rejoinder is unsuccessful. According
to Desire Satisfactionism, one's well–being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Drawing from Kagan's benefit argument, I agree with him that the things that increase one's well–
being must make positive changes to one's mind and body. The crucial point for a theory of well–
being is to understand from individual being's point of view how one' well–being is increased. If we
study how can one's well–being be increased through one's life, this is akin to looking only at the
outside and failing to understand that if the internal cease to exist, there would be no external. Thus,
the proper object of the theory of well–being should be the person. Following from the argument of
Restricted Actual Desire Satisfactionism, it seems to exclude too much as it cannot account for the
case of why people would intensely desire for the team they support to win. One can bite the bullet
and conclude that instead of no increase in well–being at all, there is a slight increase. Instead of
person and his life being separated in different spheres, one should see the person in the center and
slowly extending to life being the outer circle. What would concern the person would have high
amounts of increase or decrease in the well–being, and what would concern the life would have little
increase or decrease in

Everyday Use by Alice Walker Essay
Everyday Use by Alice Walker
In "Everyday Use," Alice Walker stresses the importance of heritage. She employs various ways to
reveal many aspects of heritage that are otherwise hard to be noticed.
In the story, she introduces two sisters with almost opposite personalities and different views on
heritage: Maggie and Dee. She uses the contrast between the two sisters to show how one should
accept and preserve one's heritage. Beyond the contrast between two sisters there exist the judge
figure mom, the narrator and the Dee's irony. The irony on Dee's opinion is the key to understand the
story and why the mother let Maggie keep the quilts, which symbolize the heritage.

As the two sisters have different appearance and personalities, they have different perspectives on
heritage that contrast each other. Walker uses quilts to symbolize the heritage and describes the two
girls' view on quilts to show their perspectives on heritage. Maggie thinks of heritage as an
attachment to her ancestors. She believes the everyday use of the inherited materials, how much
ever value they may retain, will keep her connected to her ancestors. She values the attachment to
the ancestors more than the inherited material itself. When she gives up the quilts to Dee, she states,
"I can 'member Grandma Dee with the quilts." Dee, on the other hand, thinks of heritage as
something that has an extrinsic value, for example its aesthetic value as an antique. She believes that
the proper way to accept and preserve her heritage is to not put it into her everyday use but to
cherish it only as an accessory. Such an idea is revealed when Dee says, "Maggie can't appreciate
these quilts! She'd probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use." When the mother
asks Dee what she would do with the quilts, she says, "Hang them" (1177), which shows that Dee
thinks of the quilts only as tangible antiques.
While the two sisters perspectives on heritage contrast each other, Walker employs a case of
dramatic irony to prove that Dee's perspective is wrong, which automatically proves that Maggie is
right, considering their opposite characteristics. Dee

Ethical Difficulty Between Diversity And Extrinsic Values
Inherently, there exists an ethical difficulty in appraising an intrinsic value, for these values are often
abstract and intangible. Typical extrinsic appraisals often look at condition or rarity to determine a
value, however, intrinsic values can be priceless. Although some intrinsic values such as happiness
or love are qualitative, the value of diversity is purely quantitative. It is fundamental to understand
how the value of diversity clearly increases positively, where greater diversity is always equated
with a greater intrinsic value.
When applied to ecosystems, the level of species diversity is most frequently measured as an
indicator of the ecosystem value. For example, a desert may only contain tens of species, yet a sub–

Essay on Worth in Everyday Use
A Question of Worth in Everyday Use
From the fashionable, expensive clothing that the character Dee in Alice Walker's "Everyday Use"
wears, the girl seems almost immediately to be a person of great value and importance. It may seem,
too, at first glance, that Dee's mother and sister, Maggie, in their tin–roof house and shabby clothing,
are of little or no worth in "Everyday Use." The story ironically shows, under more careful thought,
that the very outer characteristics which deem Dee the more valuable character are the ones which
prove that the mother and Maggie have the more powerful inner worth.
In the beginning of the story, Dee is portrayed to be more physically valuable than her mother and
Maggie. Dee's outfit reeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Houston A. Baker, Jr. and Charlotte Pierce–Baker suggest that "Ultimately, the framed Polaroid
photograph represents the limits of Dee's vision" (416). With close examination, the camera, which
represents Dee's material wealth, can also be used to prove her inability to see people, places and
things for what and who they really are.
By far the most striking piece of evidence supporting Dee's lack of inner value is her desire to have
the quilts. At first, Dee's anger over being denied the quilts seems justified. Dee claims that she
would preserve the quilts and "Hang them" (1154). Yet, the real purpose of possessing the quilts, as
seen on a larger scope, is to use the old quilts for the simple life the mother and Maggie lead. To
actually put the quilts to everyday use, as Maggie will do, is symbolically preserving the family
heritage. Dee's cry that Maggie would "probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use"
(1154) portrays Dee as the materialistic, backward character.
Just as the argument over the quilts shows Dee as intrinsically immature, it directly points out that
the mother and Dee have, in fact, great value within them. Dee's mother, for instance, is at first silent
to Dee's demands to have the butter churn and wooden benches. When Dee takes the quilts,
previously promised to Maggie, the mother then becomes defensive. The mother questions Dee's
intended use of the quilts in an effort to deter Dee from her insistence of owning

Thesis On Work Values
Chapter –2
Review of Literature
Work Value
Work occupies a central place in one's life. The importance attached to work has been quite a
popular topic in social science and management. Theory and research on work values proceed
largely from the premise that work values are derived from people's basic value system that help
them navigate through the multiple spheres of their lives.
Rokeach (1973) in an early pioneering thesis states that a value is an enduring belief that a specific
mode of conduct or end. State of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or
converse mode of conduct or and a state of existence. He defines beliefs about preferable modes of
conduct instrument values and beliefs about preferable and states terminal values. In a value system,
individual rank order their instrumental and terminal values along a continuum of importance. Some
researchers stress that work goals can be regarded synonymous to work values since the concept of
goals is a core element of values. Zedeek (1997) for example has ... Show more content on

Personal Statement : My Best Friend
Every single individual has a set of values that are dear to them and and as individuals we tend to
live our lives by these particular standards or principals and we all find things to have different
levels of importance. The values i chose include friendship, happiness, dedication,
adventure/exploration and curiosity. The first value I focused on was friendship and I find that to be
an extremely important part of life. To find certain people that love you for who you are and will
always be looking out for you, those are the people that you want to keep in your life forever. On my
visual I have three different picture of my best friends and I would never wish for anything else
because they are the most wonderful people in my life. Developing a friendship takes time and it
takes time to trust and feel comfortable with people but when you have those people forever you
will truly be happy, or at least thats how I feel about it. So those of two of the most important people
in my life and they always will be. The next value I chose was happiness and I found a really cool
smiling sun image that I found to be perfect. I find the sun to be a universal image of happiness
because of its bright color and the warmth it provides. One of the most important things in life is to
make sure that you find happiness and to make sure that you are content with your life. It doesn 't

Arguments Against Utilitarianism
As a philosophical approach, utilitarianism generally focuses on the principle of "greatest
happiness". According to the greatest happiness principle, actions that promote overall happiness
and pleasure are considered as right practices. Moreover, to Mill, actions which enhance happiness
are morally right, on the other hand, actions that produce undesirable and unhappy outcomes are
considered as morally wrong. From this point of view we can deduct that utilitarianism assign us
moral duties and variety of ways for maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain to ensure "greatest

individuals always act in a sense to maximize overall happiness. It means that irrespective of aims
and motives, people have to act to increase and maximize overall happiness. From another point of
view which again Mill states our ninety–nine percent actions are practiced and more importantly
'motivated by other values'. Nevertheless, attaining overall happiness issue for greatest happiness
mismatched with reality and the theory. Sanctions about demanding issue which considers always
people be motivated in order to maximize overall benefit idea and personal aims which may differ
from idealized motives to improve overall happiness. If it is taken into consideration that two variety
of perspectives about demanding issue from motivation point of view and Mill's defense to this idea,
demanding criteria pose a challenge to utilitarianism.
Secondly, it is challenged that utilitarianism demand us to measure and calculate all of our actions
which were gained by past experience and practices for Mill to reach greatest happiness principle.
Although Mill defends like "There has been ample time, namely, the whole past duration of the
human species. During all that time, mankind have been learning by experience and tendencies of
actions..." (p. 113) to make a decision and advices following past experiences to practice an action

Reliability And Fluidity
Exploring Reliability and Validity The Values and Motives Questionnaire looks to assess the
motivation of an individual as their values simultaneously interact with the tasks they engage in and

distributed in three categories, which examine intrinsic, extrinsic, and interpersonal principles
("Values and Motives", n.d, pp. 11–13). To efficiently examine the accuracy and legitimacy of this

I Am A Better Person Who Has Changed My Own Potential
At the beginning of this course, I kept calling it a "therapy" course. I was under the impression I was
going to come out of the class a better person who has taken the time to make changes and reflect.
However, as the course progressed I recognized that the class is what you put into it. The class
wasn't going to change me by doing these activities, but it was how these activities challenged me
shift my priorities and simply become more aware. The only change that was going to be made was
if I saw the need for it and I was committed. I think the course overall encouraged us, the students,
to become more self–aware in many different aspects of our lives. In my case, I think I gained the
most from the constant discussion of the importance of reflection and consciousness. Although, we
focused on certain topics throughout the semester like time management, diet, and gender issues; I
think the main objective was to improve my connection with myself and to realize my own
potential. I believe that each person should gain something different by the end of the semester
because the discussions and activities all have a varying affects. I assume that the level of immersion
from students differed depending on the activity and how the student determined its importance.
However, I would think that everyone in class, including myself, is able to be more open, honest,
and truthful with myself. Additionally, I think this course emphasized the importance for students to

The Value Of How I Am Seen
The Value of How I Am Seen Frequently traveling and uprooting what I have considered to be home
has left my family as one of the only constants in my life. Through the great deal of experiences and
challenges I have faced alongside my family, I have learned through both positive and negative
means some of the things I truly value. The interactions between my sister and I in particular are
predominantly amiable, but over some of the coarser periods of time in our relationship, our
personal vendettas against one another have shown me that I value my public image above most
things in life. It is for this reason when asked to give something of true value away, I have chosen to
hand the keys of my kingdom to my sister, in the form of my Facebook email and password
information. While this material may seem like an inconsequential offering to observers of different
generations or walks of life, it is the nature and history of my relationship with my sister coupled
with the significance this information holds to me that tells of the true sacrifice made in giving
access to such a powerful tool. Before analyzing the degree to how much I valued what I gave my
sister, it is important to understand what true value is. While value in terms of a currency or some
means of exchange is seemingly one of the easier ways to determine something's worth, an item's
history to the owner and the impact of its absence is a better determinate of its true value. I have
found that in my case, given

Essay on Collective Bargaining in the Workplace
David Brody argues that the rise of contractual or collective bargaining relationships during the post
WWII era formalized the relationship between employers and unions. The use of collective
bargaining agreements to resolve workplace disputes weakened unions and the power of workers.
Other actions, such as using collection bargaining as a form of substitution for direct action and
using it instead of the strike for grievance and arbitration procedure served , also has weakened the
unions and the power of workers. The rise of contractual or collective bargaining relationships
changed the dynamic of the workplace, shifting the power from the union side to towards the
employers. The perspective could best be argued suing Weber's theory and ... Show more content on

C. Wright Mills defines the meaning of work for white–collar workers. A white–collar worker is an
educated person who performs non–manual, professional, managerial, or administrative work. He
states " White Collar stands, after sixty years, as the most comprehensive work that American social
science has produced in the study of the new middle class. " classifying white collar workers as the
new middle class full of intellectuals in intermediate positions, to what he describes as the
"enormous file" of clerical labor. C. Wright Mills connects the meaning of work for white–collar
workers to the types of leisure activity they pursue. Modern white–collar workers attach an extrinsic
value to their wage work because they work to live. Jobs have lost their intrinsic value due to the
emptiness that comes with the job. For example, white collar workers are subjected to manipulations
and control of their superiors thus in return; they lose their creativity and freedom of action.
White–collar workers are a different breed of workers. The results derived from work that modern
white collar workers value includes status, power and wages. At times, these white collar jobs hold
no true meaning to white collar workers rather it the monetary value that drives productivity. This
money is means to a different life outside of work.

Essay on The First Gay Movie: Transamerica directed by...
The first gay movie I watched was "Transamerica" directed by Duncan Tucker. While reading its
review, I was impressed and fascinated by one sentence "Bree is one in which many will identify
with in needing to become the person you really should be" (Irapoport, 2005). After this movie, I
started searching for other gay movies and continued to watch gay movies until today. I am the kind
of person who enjoys movies; however, this does not apply to all genres. Interestingly, despite being
a girl who is still interested in boys, my favourite genre of movie is gay movies. In general, I make a

wanted that gaze instead of just a glance. If I were not to be compared to my sister, would 80% be
worth some applause? If my parents were not scientists, but business owners, would my 80% be
regarded as an excellent mark? Every time I watch gay movies, I feel sad and sympathize with the
main character so much. Take "Transamerica" as an example, why do people think that a man loving
another man is wrong? If we ignore the biological condition, would this love still be considered as
abnormal? Why does nobody understand that if Bree (the main character) were able to choose, he
would not want to be a woman in male's body? Despite his good manner and behaviour, which
might be much politer than some girls' behaviour, people still believe that his manner is not good
enough (Just because his actions are not the same as other mens). Why do people judge him by his
appearance instead of his mentality or his ability? Why must he always be compared with other
men? As regards the theory of selective exposure to mood–congruent social situations, Bower

Case Study : Starbucks 's Marketing Strategy
An in–depth analysis of the case: Starbucks
In 1971 Starbucks started as a small coffee shop that specialized in selling whole arabica beans in
Seattle's Pike Place market. After being inspired by Milan's coffee culture – especially the role it
espresso bars played in the Italians' everyday social lives – Starbucks opened an espresso bar in the
corner of their shop. Their ideal was to create a 'third place' – besides home and work – where
people could relax and enjoy a good cup of coffee (Moon & Quelch, 2006). Over two decades the
company enlarged and served over 20 million unique customers in over 5,000 stores around the
world. Their brand strategy could best be described as 'live coffee', which meant creating an
'experience' around the consumption of coffee that fitted into people 's everyday lives (Moon &
Quelch, 2006). Three components were fundamental for their branding strategy. First of all, the
coffee itself which should represent the highest–quality coffee in the world, derived from Africa,
Central and South America, and the Asia–Pacific regions (Moon & Quelch, 2006). Secondly, the
atmosphere should be inviting and make customers feel comfortable. The ambiance in stores should
make customers want to stay (Moon & Quelch, 2006). Thirdly, service – customer intimacy – is a
key factor within their brand strategy, which aims to create an experience for the customers, and
aims at building customer loyalty (Moon & Quelch, 2006). The employees – called 'partners' – are

A Man For All Seasons, And Elia Kazan 's On The Waterfront
Only fools follow their standard of personal integrity. Discuss.
Values and morals are often instilled in people as they grow up, but the extent to which one chooses
to follow these principles can be greatly swayed by how strong their sense of personal integrity is.
As individuals are exposed to an array of varying perspectives and multiple values, one 's own
certainty about the interpretation or application of a particular principle may lessen, opening up the
possibility of accepting an alternative position. Robert Bolt's play, 'A Man For All Seasons', and Elia
Kazan's 'On the Waterfront', we see that integrity is impossible without a conscience guided by long
reflection upon the inner character of justice.

Bolt's lead character is a man of strict moral righteousness; he never once wavered, which
consequently leads to his fall from grace and untimely death. More is not setting out to be a hero or
martyr. He is a lawyer and sees the law as a way to live peacefully in the world. From his choices, it
is evidently clear that More is no simple common man. He treads the road that only a few mortals
would dare travel down to. His critics see his morality as impractical but for More, his conscience is
the only thing "(he) believes to be true". As a man of virtue, More stands alone in the play.
Surrounded by a cast of seemingly weak and basic characters, More's morality is even more
manifest. Such characters as Richard Rich and the Common Man demonstrate how most normal
individuals will be guided by their needs, not their consciences. Rich is intoxicated with avarice and
believes that materialistic items such as clothes and money will gain him the respect and power that
he 'rightly deserves'. More conversely knows well that respect and admiration cannot be brought and
that the integrity of men is to be measured by conduct and not their satisfaction of hubris.
It is obvious that More understands the nuance of every political move, as he mentions what would
happen if Wolsey falls. He conveys his competence by his careful handling of events. Because of his
intellectual prowess, More has managed to keep the people he cares around him safe by using the
words of the law 'in

The Definitions Of Biological Motion
Definitions of Biological Motion (BM) mostly center around work by Johansson (1973) on visual
motion perception through his application of point–light display. Within this context BM refers to
the patterns of movement characteristic to living organisms, thereby encompassing both human and
animal locomotion, insofar as it is distinct from random patterns of movement, characterized in
vertebrates by non–rigid patterns constrained by skeletal structures. Studies suggesting that human
sensitivity to BM is indeed not limited to human locomotion as studies have found people capable of
identifying the locomotion of a variety of animals including quadrupeds such as dogs (Pavlova,
Krägeloh–Mann, Sokolov, & Birbaumer. 2001). BM contains significant ... Show more content on

elbows, knees, wrists, etc.). These points are then assembled to form patterns resembling the
movement of human or non–human animals, often in loopable movements, The points are thereby
capable of presenting global information, through the combined movement of the points, or local
information, focus on a single joint. Indeed motion is a fundamental component in the processing of
PLD as Pavlova et al. (2001) found that accuracy of recognition of static PLD failed to reach above
chance. Multiple methods are available to produce PLD ranging from Johannson (1973) use of light
bulbs attached to the bodies of assistants and then filmed in a dark room, which created more
naturalistic portrayals of BM, to more recent methods, employing motion capture software in
animation (Vanrie & Verfaille, 2004). Advantages to the use of motion capture and three–
dimensional animation software include the ability to show the same PLD from multiple viewpoints
changing the orientation.
Whether or not BM appears to be intrinsic has provided a variety of conclusions, mainly due to
difficulty replicating results. In Johansson (1973) original study it was suggested that BM was an
intrinsic or automatic response over a learned one. The majority of studies attempting to determine
whether the perception of BM was intrinsic, made use developmental studies that either made use of
preferential or discriminating forced choice tasks or

the products and services are very affordable. The products and services are not priced highly and

From IKEA's slogan "low prices but not at any price", it is clear that the company prices its products

Analysis Of The Book ' Little Red Cap ' By Angela Carter
Fairytales subvert, challenge or reaffirm archetypal values through didactic lenses. The presence of
universal themes allows for an examination of contextual shifts and by being malleable in nature,
can be made relevant to different audiences. The Brothers Grimm 's "Little Red Cap", Angela
Carter's 'The Company of Wolves" and Tommy Wirkola 's film, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters"
all promote their hegemonic ideologies and as 'cultural artefacts' extrapolate the contextual values of
their time period. Carl Jung 's theory of the 'Collective Unconscious" ensures that each of these
fairytale adaptations can retain their archetypal value and thus remain significant and relevant in
contemporary circumstances.
The Brother Grimm's 19th Century Fairytale, "Little Red Cap" reflects the hegemonies of its context
through its cautionary justification. Grimm's work reflected the importance of German national
cohesion under French occupation and the view towards foreigners as destructive usurpers. "Little
Red Cap" was adapted for instructional purposes, specifically aimed at a children 's audience.
Initially in the tale, the subversion of Perrault's depiction of the girl is evident exemplifying her as a
"sweet" little girl and the hyperbolic "everybody loved her instantly on first sight" demonstrates the
engrained virtue of her youth. The instruction for Little Red Cap to "not stray from the path"
foreshadows the inherent danger associated with a misguided venture. The symbolism of

Kluckhohn and Strodbeck’s Value Model
Abstract: Culture is the holistic interrelationship of a group's identity, beliefs, values, activities,
rules, customs, communication patterns, and institutions. (Dodd, 1998) Values are important
components of a given culture accepted by individuals sharing that culture. They are deep and
hidden elements of the cultural iceberg that are seldom questioned or defended but can reflect
different characteristics of different cultures. Kluckhohn and Strodbeck's value model is used here to
analyze distinct Chinese and American culture. Key words:culture; values; Kluckhohn and

In the Bible story of Adam and Eve, God throws them out of the Garden of Eden because they ate
the fruit from the Tree of knowledge. But with modernism came a sense that progress improves the
world and the people in it, and actually already with Puritanism came the "work ethic" which in a
sense suggested that if a person works hard he can overcome his sinful nature as stated in "busy
hands make for good morals" and "idle hands are the devil's opportunity". Democratic and
educational ideals also work toward the improvement of mankind. (Kulich, personal email to the
author, 2007) So Americans have changed to seeing humans as a mixture of good and evil despite
that the traditional belief continues to flourish, for example among fundamentalist Christians who
follow the Bible in their daily life. Influenced by the teachings of Confucius, The Chinese people
believe that people are born pure and innocent. Humans' nature is good and the corruption only
begins when people grow and are affected by society. In order to prevent the corruption, parents,
teachers and other related persons are obligated to set up good examples for their protégés and
educate them. So from a Chinese point of view, ideally there are humans who are perfect

Intrinsic Value And Extrinsic Value Essay
In philosophy, things, properties, and acts contain values. They would fall into three categories of
value: intrinsic value, extrinsic value, and both intrinsic and extrinsic value. Things containing
intrinsic value means people value those things with intrinsic value for its own reason
(Zimmerman). In contrast, things containing extrinsic value means the value of these things are
depending on other things but not by itself. This is the basic difference between intrinsic value and
extrinsic value. In addition, knowledge is extrinsic valuable in general, but some kinds of
knowledge can also be intrinsic valuable. Also, Knowledge is more extrinsic valuable than a true
belief because it provides a higher possibility for an agent to succeed in pursuing his/her goals
(Pritchard 13).
Intrinsic Value (Non Instrumental Value)
Intrinsic value has also been named as non–instrumental value. The general understanding of non–
instrumental value is that a thing is valuable for its own sake and its value is not related to other
things. Zimmerman explains the intrinsic value by using the example of the conversation with
someone. He says that suppose person A asks person B that whether helping people is good or not;
B will answer that helping others is good. Then, A keeps asking that why it is good; B might
response that it is just good by fulfilling others' needs. After that, A can still ask B that why fulfilling
others' needs is good. If B keep answering these questions by adding other

Viable Crypto Currency or Investment Bubble Essay
Imagine a currency that can be sent around the globe instantly from one client to another, without
any hefty transaction fees. Although, this achievement is seemingly impossible, Bitcoin, a form of
digitalized monetary value, accomplishes just that. Until recently, money has always been perceived
as a physical note or coin that can be used to make transactions. However, Bitcoin is basically an
encrypted digital block that can be stored in an online wallet and securely stored, sent, and received
via a special network on the Internet (Friedman). Programmed in 2009 by an anonymous group

Without a bank to manage the supply of this crypto currency, the price is unregulated and proves to
be extremely volatile. This price fluctuation is one quality that is holding the legitimacy of Bitcoin
back because it needs a consistent value for practical use in the monetary world. As speculative
investors buy and sell Bitcoin, the price varies at extreme rates. But in support of Bitcoin's long–
term future, the price has shown a steady uptrend in the past year, peaking at around $1200 (See
Apendix I). Eventually, a steady value will be reached to establish the actual price of Bitcoin. The
positive aspect of Bitcoin's decentralization greatly outweighs this temporary problem of volatility.
The lack of the Federal Reserve's regulation essentially allows this virtual currency to eradicate
inflation. Ed Grabianowski describes inflation as a process when a unit of currency loses value
because more units are produced and put into circulation by the regulator in attempts to solve
financial issues ("What Exactly is Inflation?"). Bitcoin does not face this problem since it has a
predetermined supply: 21 million digitalized blocks ("Betting on the Bitcoin Buzz"). Instead of
having a regulator through banks and the government, which can inherently fail, Bitcoin relies on
regulation through a mathematical equation. To comprehend this regulation, the process of mining
must first be understood.

Psychology as a Science: Jaegwon Kim's Argument and Why it...
Jaegwon Kim thinks that multiple realizability of mental properties would bring about the
conclusion that psychology is most likely not a science. Several functionalists, specially, Fodor, take
up the opposing stance to Kim, supporting that the multiple realizability of mental states is one of
the reasons why psychology is an autonomous and justifiable science. Essentially, Kim think that in
order for mental states to be multiply realizable then psychology must be fundamentally broken;
with human psychology encompassing properties realized for humans and alien psychology
encompassing those mental states realized in the alien way etc. I will demonstrate that even if one

Furthermore, I will consider a possible objection that Kim might have to my stance and give a short

By showing that Kim's conclusion fails it will entail that Fodor's conclusion is more viable in reality.
In Kim's 1992 publication he argued that is mental properties are multiply realized then they
essentially cannot be casual properties and therefore, they cannot be scientific. From this notion, he
cannot allow there to be psychological laws nor can there be any kind of psychological theory either.
Kim think that we can anticipate that there are many distinct and local psych theories. There will be
several psychologies, one for human, one for aliens, one for elephants and so on. He concludes that
it is impossible to have one psychological theory that reins over all species. Kim substantiates that
only laws of physics can be universally applied to everything. He also states that economics,
biology, chemistry and sociology will fall prey to the same faults as psychology does. It seems that
to respond to Kim we must consider a multitude of scientific and philosophical issues. Kim's
essential argument relies on two different metaphysical principles. Firstly, he presents the 'Casual
Individuation of Kinds' principle that states that kinds in science are individuated on the

Cat On A Hot Tin Roof Analysis
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof directed by Richard Brooks tells the story of a southern family during the Jim
Crow era. The family is in a crisis when news hit that Big Daddy, the leader of the family, is dying
of cancer. The story takes place in a luxurious plantation home. Multiple technical elements make
this play's environment come to life. The plot within the home takes place over an evening where
the lighting of the piece dictates the time of day. Additionally, music is underscored in key moments
to emphasize the dialogue between the characters. The costumes that the characters wear indicates
who the character is and how the character behaves. Furthermore, the acting of the piece show that
characters thoughts and mood. The set in the production involves many locations creating a realistic

is real. This also occurs when the characters are at the airport and the horse pasture. As for the large
house, the interior and exterior are fully furnished and decorated. The decorations include plates,
cups, food, lavish furniture, and many more. These details create a well decorated environment. The

Every minute, 30 football field sized sections of forests are cut down–and that is just from illegal
harvesting ("Corruption and the Environment"). The modern world has become so reliant on wood
products that at the current rate of deforestation there will soon be no forests left to enjoy.
Governments refrain from making their clear–cutting plans public to avoid scrutiny. With
governments very unlikely to change their policies, unless monetary gain is guaranteed, it is on the
people of the United States and the rest of the world to reinforce positive environmental

Since the inflation of the United States dollar continues to rise every year, housing prices in relation

Employee Attitude
1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY An attitude is a hypothetical construct that represents an
individual's degree of like or dislike for an item. Attitudes are generally positive or negative views
of a person, place, thing, or event–– this is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be
conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive
and negative attitudes toward the item in question.

personal level key values that one finds important can result in inconsistent outcomes. Establishing a
leadership philosophy helps guide actions, behaviors and thoughts. A leadership philosophy is
developed through a combination of internal and external forces that impact an individual over their

Never on a Sunday is a case study that discusses the philosophy carried out by companies like
McCoy's Building Supply and Chick Fil–A. Both of these organizations are perfect examples of
"Organizational or Corporate culture" defined as a system of shared actions, values, and beliefs that
develop within an organization that guides the behavior of its members (Schermerhom, Osborn,
Uhl– bien, Hunt, 2012, p. 348). At McCoy's for example "Managers are asked to concentrate on
service related issues" Managers focus more on the items in store and customer service and the
majority of their administrative workload is handled through headquarters (Schermerhom, Osborn,
Uhl– bien, Hunt, 2012, p. 353). Working as a manager myself that really sounds like a great method
of management. There are many times where my boss and the rest of the management team where I
work struggles. Keeping up with all the administrative duties and the store at the same time can be
really trying and is a never ending workload. This makes neither one of them get the attention they
require and more often than not we find ourselves trying to do just enough administrative work and
just enough floor work to get through the day. Additionally, the management teams meet regularly to
discuss products and other important aspects that impact the stores. Sometimes in my line of work
we wish that we had the opportunity to meet and discuss new ideas and products that could improve
our stores.

Leadership Is Something That Should Be Paid

  • 1. Leadership Is Something That Should Be Paid I believe that leadership is something that should be earned. Whoever is the most qualified and passionate should be the person who leads, not the most popular. I believe that having integrity and expecting it at all times from your team is the best way to operate. I believe that leaders cannot always be the "good guys" in every situation. I believe that it is important to find people who will help you most achieve your goal, but ones who are loyal, passionate, and want to grow personally. Mutual respect in any situation will allow for people to speak their minds, even if it is difficult. I want to help my team members find their passions and help them succeed outside of our organization. I believe that leadership is about encouraging others to buy into your values, and cheering them on when they gain recognition for their work. Being a leader was never something that I had to think about. I knew that leaders existed and that they were important to how businesses and companies ran their operations, but other than that I never consciously decided that I was going to be a leader when I was younger. As I grew up and found myself getting more involved with my community, I realized that I was acting like a leader even though I didn't feel like I was acting any different than my normal self. My demeanor, leadership learning moments, and mentors all helped me to find my "leadership voice", and it has allowed me to grow into who I am as a leader. My parents have had ... • 3. Relationship Between Employee Engagement And Banking Sector Nature of Employee Engagement in Banking Sector Submitted by Petroniu Andriesi Executive Summary Employee engagement has a huge impact on the motivation of the workforce. It impacts employees' passion and attitude towards their day–to–day responsibilities. The banking sector employs a significant percentage of workforce. However, various engagement policies have been initiated in the banking sector. The first step has been recognizing the role of immediate supervisor as the key person in driving employee engagement. Banks are also building a value– based culture, talent management strategies, mentorship and training, internal communication and feedback mechanisms and transformative leadership. These strategies infuse a passionate workforce dedicated to the accomplishment of the organization goals. The level of engagement is the banking sector can be considered moderate but has gained momentum and is likely to improve over the years. The primarily limitations of employee engagement are that they do not necessarily guarantee increased productivity, the costs implication are high and employee engagement does not necessarily guarantee employee retention. Model (Sheth et al, 1991): Five Values Conceptual Framework According to Sheth et al (1991), the customer perceived value has five dimensions including functional, conditional, social, emotional, and epistemic values. This value derived from the behaviour of the customer and overall purchasing criteria. Furthermore, this dimension clearly illustrates the ability of the customer to choose whether to continue buying the product or vice versa. By having these values, the PCs manufacturers are always a leader and maintain their reputation to become the best and reliable product available in the market. Coaching Philosophy Sporting philosophies are tremendously important for current and aspiring coaches to understand and develop, when identifying the psychology behind the human performer, it is imperative to understand the different philosophies and known topics that are associated to this module, these ideas and philosophies can refer to as burnout, character development and talent identification. These three philosophies are closely linked together through the different progressions and obstacles a coach may come across. When looking further into burnout, an interesting study by (Feltz, Lirgg & Albrecht, 1992) completed a study highlighted the impact sport has on young performers, they found that there was a notable rise in specialization that occurred in youth sports, more young athletes are selecting to play a single sport to take part in all year round at younger age, with infrequent breaks and rest, the participation sustained in one sport is believed to increase the risk of sport related injuries, peer isolation, burnout and psychological problems, nevertheless the study concluded that it has both positive and negatives effects, it positively benefits the numerous and span domains, which include physical, physiological and social development which is an extremely important part of sports ... Alternative that I chose Under all three theories – deontology, consequentialism, and virtue ethics, providing my customers all information that I was aware of should be the most appropriate course of action that I should perform. In this situation, I chose to do so, but I did not have an openly communication with my manager about my ethical dilemma. 3. Context In the past, as employees in an organization, we were expected to follow what our employers said without expressing our opinion. However, the age of social medial today brought us opportunities to speak up and broadcast when we see something wrong. This aligns the value on doing work with our personal values when we know our own values and how to giving voice to them. In order to beginning to voice values effectively, we should know ourselves, know our organization, commit to voice, practice, and look for openings, enlist allies. Knowing myself, I am an introverted person and I am not willing to share my opinion to others if I assume that they will not agree with me. When I face an ethical dilemma, I tend to struggle with it by myself before consulting with others. Therefore, I did not discuss about the unethical suggestion of my manager with him, but I decided to provide full information about the project to my customers. • 14. Summary: The Immortal Of Henrietta Lacks There are two types of values that everybody seeks, these values are intrinsic and extrinsic. An intrinsic value is something that is pursued for its own sake, while an extrinsic values are something that does not have intrinsic qualities. Because intrinsic goods are pursued for their own sake, they are inherently good. However, people pursue other things in life without a goal in mind, these things aren't necessarily intrinsic goods, but rather a leisurely activity that one uses to waste time. The intrinsic good that is necessary for the good life is something that one seeks for it's beauty, knowledge, or goodness. The true, the good, and the beautiful are aspects of an intrinsic good that reflect a more meaningful and pure dimension to human nature. The true and knowledgeable reflect a meaningful and pure dimension to human nature because it is something that one is always on a quest to seek for its own sake. Almost everybody in the world is pursuing some type of knowledge whether it be for a career, a hobby, religion, or out of pure curiosity. There have been a few people that we have studied throughout the semester pursued knowledge for its own sake. An example of one of these people is Rebecca Skloot, who is the author of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Rebecca Skloot is an example of this because she saw a picture of ... When People Hear The Word Doping, They Think Of Athletes When people hear the word doping, they think of athletes using drugs such as, erythropoietin, so that they will have an advantage in their sport. However, the doping we are talking about today is the type where elements are added to semiconductors to change its characteristics. Doping is the process that changes the electrical conductivity of a semiconductor, like silicon. Doping is done by adding foreign elements to the semiconductor so that the amount of valence electrons changes. A semiconductor is a material that partly conducts electricity, it is in between an insulator and a conductor. Semiconductors have four electrons in their valence shell, and since there needs to be eight in the shell for it to be stable, it just has to connect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Through doping, it creates two groups of semiconductors, N–type, which have a negative charge and P–type, which have a positive charge. These different types of semiconductors are very important to the world, because when the different types are used together they can create devices with special electrical devices that have the ability to control electrical signals. Before semiconductors there were vacuum tubes, which did the same job as semiconductors, but they were not as fast or as small as them. Vacuum tubes, however, are very rugged and durable they can go through temporary overload conditions. Doped semiconductors are very useful, as they make up the base for diodes. A diode is an electronic component that is used to make signal limiters, voltage regulators, switches, etc. Doped semiconductors also make transistors, they are devices that regulate the current flow and they act as a switch or gate for electronic signals. Transistors have three layers of semiconductors and when one layer senses a small change of current it creates a rapid change in the current through the whole component. As one can see, doped semiconductors are very important as they make the base of many electronic devices that we use daily The effects of doping semiconductors were known for a long time in devices like crystal radio detectors and selenium rectifiers. Although the regions of our world value different icons, gods, or elements, there is one thing in which all cultures value, and that is the people of their society. Since people are high on a culture's priority list, they value people in different way. Some cultures decide that one sex is superior over the other. Although everyone is valued, there are certain times when some sexes are favored over the other. There have been many primary documents which show us which sex the different cultures value. If a wife participated in this ceremony she is considered faithful to her husband. It is said that, "The wife who enters into the fire when her husband dies, imitating Arundahati, (a star, regarded as the wife of one of the Seven Rishies, and as a typical faithful spouse) in her behavior, enjoys bliss in heaven." This will not only free her soul but also her husband's soul. She is also considered saving herself when she leaps into the fire. In those times, being a widow is miserable. This is shown as, "There is no other misery for women like, widowhood. Happy is she among women who dies before her husband." It says that she will be just as happy as any woman who has died before her husband. While she is saving herself and her husband, she is also saving three of her families. Panjang From : Mohd Badrul Akram bin Sazali (Head Prefect) Subject : Rise of Disciplinary problems Date : 12 October 2012 Recently, there has been a drastic rise in disciplinary cases among the students of SMK Jalan Bunga, Sg. Panjang. It has caught the attention of many teachers and myself as the Head Prefect of this school. We do not want this scenario to continuously ruin the good reputation of this school. A survey and interviews have been carried out to investigate the core reasons towards this alarming issue. It has been identified that there are many causes that have led to this serious problem. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, they do not actually realize the importance of practicing it in daily life. On top of that, financial problems also contribute to the students' misbehavior. Due to lack of money, some students steal other students' money or belonging . There have been many cases of money being stolen and bags with new books lost too. Although they can be categorized as underprivileged students, this does not give them the right to steal other peoples' money and things. They should however be given help by the school authority. Apart from that, peer pressure is definitely one of the reasons why students are involved in disciplinary cases. Nowadays, there is a current trend where 'good is bad' and 'bad is good'. The bad guys in school are seen as 'cool' and the good guys are seen as 'nerds'. Thus, some students join these bad gangs to be well–known and if they do not join or do not carry out disciplinary problems, they may be labeled as 'losers'. This will demotivate them thus in the end, they feel that they have no choice except for being a follower of the 'gangsters'. If not, they may lose friends and power. On top of that, influence from mass media is also a factor. The mass media controls teenagers in many ways and especially in terms of behavior. The students tend to 'copycat' what they see in the internet, television, movies and etc. However, the sad

  • 23. Argument Of Desire Satisfactionism In this essay, I will argue for Restricted Actual Desire Satisfactionism as the best argument for the theory. My argument proceeds in 4 sections: In the first section, I will articulate Lukas' argument for self–regarding restriction and why idealized restriction does not work well. In the second section, I will show that Lukas' argument for self–regarding restriction is not the best form of argument for Desire Satisfactionism, for the restriction that only desires which are relevant to well–being are counted can encompass irrelevant desires as well. In the third section, I will offer a response on Lukas' behalf. Finally, in the fourth section, I conclude that this rejoinder is unsuccessful. According to Desire Satisfactionism, one's well–being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drawing from Kagan's benefit argument, I agree with him that the things that increase one's well– being must make positive changes to one's mind and body. The crucial point for a theory of well– being is to understand from individual being's point of view how one' well–being is increased. If we study how can one's well–being be increased through one's life, this is akin to looking only at the outside and failing to understand that if the internal cease to exist, there would be no external. Thus, the proper object of the theory of well–being should be the person. Following from the argument of Restricted Actual Desire Satisfactionism, it seems to exclude too much as it cannot account for the case of why people would intensely desire for the team they support to win. One can bite the bullet and conclude that instead of no increase in well–being at all, there is a slight increase. Instead of person and his life being separated in different spheres, one should see the person in the center and slowly extending to life being the outer circle. What would concern the person would have high amounts of increase or decrease in the well–being, and what would concern the life would have little increase or decrease in ... • 25. Everyday Use by Alice Walker Essay Everyday Use by Alice Walker In "Everyday Use," Alice Walker stresses the importance of heritage. She employs various ways to reveal many aspects of heritage that are otherwise hard to be noticed. In the story, she introduces two sisters with almost opposite personalities and different views on heritage: Maggie and Dee. She uses the contrast between the two sisters to show how one should accept and preserve one's heritage. Beyond the contrast between two sisters there exist the judge figure mom, the narrator and the Dee's irony. The irony on Dee's opinion is the key to understand the story and why the mother let Maggie keep the quilts, which symbolize the heritage. The two sisters in the contrast of Alice Walker's "Everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the two sisters have different appearance and personalities, they have different perspectives on heritage that contrast each other. Walker uses quilts to symbolize the heritage and describes the two girls' view on quilts to show their perspectives on heritage. Maggie thinks of heritage as an attachment to her ancestors. She believes the everyday use of the inherited materials, how much ever value they may retain, will keep her connected to her ancestors. She values the attachment to the ancestors more than the inherited material itself. When she gives up the quilts to Dee, she states, "I can 'member Grandma Dee with the quilts." Dee, on the other hand, thinks of heritage as something that has an extrinsic value, for example its aesthetic value as an antique. She believes that the proper way to accept and preserve her heritage is to not put it into her everyday use but to cherish it only as an accessory. Such an idea is revealed when Dee says, "Maggie can't appreciate these quilts! She'd probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use." When the mother asks Dee what she would do with the quilts, she says, "Hang them" (1177), which shows that Dee thinks of the quilts only as tangible antiques. While the two sisters perspectives on heritage contrast each other, Walker employs a case of dramatic irony to prove that Dee's perspective is wrong, which automatically proves that Maggie is right, considering their opposite characteristics. • 27. Ethical Difficulty Between Diversity And Extrinsic Values Inherently, there exists an ethical difficulty in appraising an intrinsic value, for these values are often abstract and intangible. Typical extrinsic appraisals often look at condition or rarity to determine a value, however, intrinsic values can be priceless. Although some intrinsic values such as happiness or love are qualitative, the value of diversity is purely quantitative. It is fundamental to understand how the value of diversity clearly increases positively, where greater diversity is always equated with a greater intrinsic value. When applied to ecosystems, the level of species diversity is most frequently measured as an indicator of the ecosystem value. For example, a desert may only contain tens of species, yet a sub– tropical cloud ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 29. Essay on Worth in Everyday Use A Question of Worth in Everyday Use From the fashionable, expensive clothing that the character Dee in Alice Walker's "Everyday Use" wears, the girl seems almost immediately to be a person of great value and importance. It may seem, too, at first glance, that Dee's mother and sister, Maggie, in their tin–roof house and shabby clothing, are of little or no worth in "Everyday Use." The story ironically shows, under more careful thought, that the very outer characteristics which deem Dee the more valuable character are the ones which prove that the mother and Maggie have the more powerful inner worth. In the beginning of the story, Dee is portrayed to be more physically valuable than her mother and Maggie. Dee's outfit reeks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Houston A. Baker, Jr. and Charlotte Pierce–Baker suggest that "Ultimately, the framed Polaroid photograph represents the limits of Dee's vision" (416). With close examination, the camera, which represents Dee's material wealth, can also be used to prove her inability to see people, places and things for what and who they really are. By far the most striking piece of evidence supporting Dee's lack of inner value is her desire to have the quilts. At first, Dee's anger over being denied the quilts seems justified. Dee claims that she would preserve the quilts and "Hang them" (1154). Yet, the real purpose of possessing the quilts, as seen on a larger scope, is to use the old quilts for the simple life the mother and Maggie lead. To actually put the quilts to everyday use, as Maggie will do, is symbolically preserving the family heritage. Dee's cry that Maggie would "probably be backward enough to put them to everyday use" (1154) portrays Dee as the materialistic, backward character. Just as the argument over the quilts shows Dee as intrinsically immature, it directly points out that the mother and Dee have, in fact, great value within them. Dee's mother, for instance, is at first silent to Dee's demands to have the butter churn and wooden benches. When Dee takes the quilts, previously promised to Maggie, the mother then becomes defensive. The mother questions Dee's intended use of the quilts in an effort to deter Dee from her insistence of owning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The importance attached to work has been quite a popular topic in social science and management. Theory and research on work values proceed largely from the premise that work values are derived from people's basic value system that help them navigate through the multiple spheres of their lives. Through the great deal of experiences and challenges I have faced alongside my family, I have learned through both positive and negative means some of the things I truly value. The interactions between my sister and I in particular are predominantly amiable, but over some of the coarser periods of time in our relationship, our personal vendettas against one another have shown me that I value my public image above most things in life. It is for this reason when asked to give something of true value away, I have chosen to hand the keys of my kingdom to my sister, in the form of my Facebook email and password information. While this material may seem like an inconsequential offering to observers of different generations or walks of life, it is the nature and history of my relationship with my sister coupled with the significance this information holds to me that tells of the true sacrifice made in giving access to such a powerful tool. Before analyzing the degree to how much I valued what I gave my sister, it is important to understand what true value is. Studies suggesting that human sensitivity to BM is indeed not limited to human locomotion as studies have found people capable of identifying the locomotion of a variety of animals including quadrupeds such as dogs (Pavlova, Krägeloh–Mann, Sokolov, & Birbaumer. 2001). BM contains significant ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... elbows, knees, wrists, etc.). These points are then assembled to form patterns resembling the movement of human or non–human animals, often in loopable movements, The points are thereby capable of presenting global information, through the combined movement of the points, or local information, focus on a single joint. Indeed motion is a fundamental component in the processing of PLD as Pavlova et al. (2001) found that accuracy of recognition of static PLD failed to reach above chance. Multiple methods are available to produce PLD ranging from Johannson (1973) use of light bulbs attached to the bodies of assistants and then filmed in a dark room, which created more naturalistic portrayals of BM, to more recent methods, employing motion capture software in animation (Vanrie & Verfaille, 2004). Advantages to the use of motion capture and three– dimensional animation software include the ability to show the same PLD from multiple viewpoints changing the orientation. Whether or not BM appears to be intrinsic has provided a variety of conclusions, mainly due to difficulty replicating results. In Johansson (1973) original study it was suggested that BM was an intrinsic or automatic response over a learned one. The majority of studies attempting to determine whether the perception of BM was intrinsic, made use developmental studies that either made use of preferential or discriminating forced choice tasks or ... • 61. Analysis Of The Book ' Little Red Cap ' By Angela Carter Fairytales subvert, challenge or reaffirm archetypal values through didactic lenses. The presence of universal themes allows for an examination of contextual shifts and by being malleable in nature, can be made relevant to different audiences. The Brothers Grimm 's "Little Red Cap", Angela Carter's 'The Company of Wolves" and Tommy Wirkola 's film, "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" all promote their hegemonic ideologies and as 'cultural artefacts' extrapolate the contextual values of their time period. Carl Jung 's theory of the 'Collective Unconscious" ensures that each of these fairytale adaptations can retain their archetypal value and thus remain significant and relevant in contemporary circumstances. The Brother Grimm's 19th Century Fairytale, "Little Red Cap" reflects the hegemonies of its context through its cautionary justification. Grimm's work reflected the importance of German national cohesion under French occupation and the view towards foreigners as destructive usurpers. "Little Red Cap" was adapted for instructional purposes, specifically aimed at a children 's audience. Initially in the tale, the subversion of Perrault's depiction of the girl is evident exemplifying her as a "sweet" little girl and the hyperbolic "everybody loved her instantly on first sight" demonstrates the engrained virtue of her youth. The instruction for Little Red Cap to "not stray from the path" foreshadows the inherent danger associated with a misguided venture. The symbolism of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kluckhohn and Strodbeck’s Value Model Abstract: Culture is the holistic interrelationship of a group's identity, beliefs, values, activities, rules, customs, communication patterns, and institutions. (Dodd, 1998) Values are important components of a given culture accepted by individuals sharing that culture. They are deep and hidden elements of the cultural iceberg that are seldom questioned or defended but can reflect different characteristics of different cultures. Kluckhohn and Strodbeck's value model is used here to analyze distinct Chinese and American culture. Key words:culture; values; Kluckhohn and Strodbeck's value model; Chinese and American culture 1. In the Bible story of Adam and Eve, God throws them out of the Garden of Eden because they ate the fruit from the Tree of knowledge. But with modernism came a sense that progress improves the world and the people in it, and actually already with Puritanism came the "work ethic" which in a sense suggested that if a person works hard he can overcome his sinful nature as stated in "busy hands make for good morals" and "idle hands are the devil's opportunity". Democratic and educational ideals also work toward the improvement of mankind. (Kulich, personal email to the author, 2007) So Americans have changed to seeing humans as a mixture of good and evil despite that the traditional belief continues to flourish, for example among fundamentalist Christians who follow the Bible in their daily life. Influenced by the teachings of Confucius, The Chinese people believe that people are born pure and innocent. Humans' nature is good and the corruption only begins when people grow and are affected by society. In order to prevent the corruption, parents, teachers and other related persons are obligated to set up good examples for their protégés and educate them. So from a Chinese point of view, ideally there are humans who are perfect ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 65. Intrinsic Value And Extrinsic Value Essay In philosophy, things, properties, and acts contain values. They would fall into three categories of value: intrinsic value, extrinsic value, and both intrinsic and extrinsic value. Things containing intrinsic value means people value those things with intrinsic value for its own reason (Zimmerman). In contrast, things containing extrinsic value means the value of these things are depending on other things but not by itself. This is the basic difference between intrinsic value and extrinsic value. In addition, knowledge is extrinsic valuable in general, but some kinds of knowledge can also be intrinsic valuable. Also, Knowledge is more extrinsic valuable than a true belief because it provides a higher possibility for an agent to succeed in pursuing his/her goals (Pritchard 13). Intrinsic Value (Non Instrumental Value) Intrinsic value has also been named as non–instrumental value. The general understanding of non– instrumental value is that a thing is valuable for its own sake and its value is not related to other things. Zimmerman explains the intrinsic value by using the example of the conversation with someone. He says that suppose person A asks person B that whether helping people is good or not; B will answer that helping others is good. Then, A keeps asking that why it is good; B might response that it is just good by fulfilling others' needs. After that, A can still ask B that why fulfilling others' needs is good. • 67. Viable Crypto Currency or Investment Bubble Essay Imagine a currency that can be sent around the globe instantly from one client to another, without any hefty transaction fees. Although, this achievement is seemingly impossible, Bitcoin, a form of digitalized monetary value, accomplishes just that. Until recently, money has always been perceived as a physical note or coin that can be used to make transactions. However, Bitcoin is basically an encrypted digital block that can be stored in an online wallet and securely stored, sent, and received via a special network on the Internet (Friedman). Programmed in 2009 by an anonymous group known as "Satoshi Nakomoto," (Timpane), Bitcoin appeared on online exchanges as the world's first decentralized virtual currency. It has been bought and sold ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without a bank to manage the supply of this crypto currency, the price is unregulated and proves to be extremely volatile. This price fluctuation is one quality that is holding the legitimacy of Bitcoin back because it needs a consistent value for practical use in the monetary world. As speculative investors buy and sell Bitcoin, the price varies at extreme rates. But in support of Bitcoin's long– term future, the price has shown a steady uptrend in the past year, peaking at around $1200 (See Apendix I). Eventually, a steady value will be reached to establish the actual price of Bitcoin. The positive aspect of Bitcoin's decentralization greatly outweighs this temporary problem of volatility. The lack of the Federal Reserve's regulation essentially allows this virtual currency to eradicate inflation. Ed Grabianowski describes inflation as a process when a unit of currency loses value because more units are produced and put into circulation by the regulator in attempts to solve financial issues ("What Exactly is Inflation?"). Bitcoin does not face this problem since it has a predetermined supply: 21 million digitalized blocks ("Betting on the Bitcoin Buzz"). Instead of having a regulator through banks and the government, which can inherently fail, Bitcoin relies on regulation through a mathematical equation. To comprehend this regulation, the process of mining must first be understood. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. Psychology as a Science: Jaegwon Kim's Argument and Why it... Jaegwon Kim thinks that multiple realizability of mental properties would bring about the conclusion that psychology is most likely not a science. Several functionalists, specially, Fodor, take up the opposing stance to Kim, supporting that the multiple realizability of mental states is one of the reasons why psychology is an autonomous and justifiable science. Essentially, Kim think that in order for mental states to be multiply realizable then psychology must be fundamentally broken; with human psychology encompassing properties realized for humans and alien psychology encompassing those mental states realized in the alien way etc. I will demonstrate that even if one supports and allows the principles behind Kim's argument they do not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Furthermore, I will consider a possible objection that Kim might have to my stance and give a short rebuttle. I will conclude by explicating Jerry Fodor's account of what is Kim's essential problem is. By showing that Kim's conclusion fails it will entail that Fodor's conclusion is more viable in reality. In Kim's 1992 publication he argued that is mental properties are multiply realized then they essentially cannot be casual properties and therefore, they cannot be scientific. From this notion, he cannot allow there to be psychological laws nor can there be any kind of psychological theory either. Kim think that we can anticipate that there are many distinct and local psych theories. There will be several psychologies, one for human, one for aliens, one for elephants and so on. He concludes that it is impossible to have one psychological theory that reins over all species. Kim substantiates that only laws of physics can be universally applied to everything. He also states that economics, biology, chemistry and sociology will fall prey to the same faults as psychology does. It seems that to respond to Kim we must consider a multitude of scientific and philosophical issues. Kim's essential argument relies on two different metaphysical principles. Firstly, he presents the 'Casual Individuation of Kinds' principle that states that kinds in science are individuated on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The family is in a crisis when news hit that Big Daddy, the leader of the family, is dying of cancer. The story takes place in a luxurious plantation home. Multiple technical elements make this play's environment come to life. The plot within the home takes place over an evening where the lighting of the piece dictates the time of day. Additionally, music is underscored in key moments to emphasize the dialogue between the characters. The costumes that the characters wear indicates who the character is and how the character behaves. Furthermore, the acting of the piece show that characters thoughts and mood. The set in the production involves many locations creating a realistic environment. First, the show opens on a high school track with bleachers, a dirt track, and several hurdles placed throughout. through the set decoration, it makes the audience believe that the location is real. This also occurs when the characters are at the airport and the horse pasture. As for the large house, the interior and exterior are fully furnished and decorated. The decorations include plates, cups, food, lavish furniture, and many more. These details create a well decorated environment. The lighting within the scenes highlights these locations and gives information as to what time it is during the evening. The lighting within the rooms of the house and on the outside ... The modern world has become so reliant on wood products that at the current rate of deforestation there will soon be no forests left to enjoy. Governments refrain from making their clear–cutting plans public to avoid scrutiny. With governments very unlikely to change their policies, unless monetary gain is guaranteed, it is on the people of the United States and the rest of the world to reinforce positive environmental consciousness. In order to create a healthier, more financially stable society, and to reduce unnecessary energy emissions from properties, homeowners, realtors and developers must consolidate to reduce home sizes and create larger, more environmentally sustainable outdoor landscapes. Since the inflation of the United States dollar continues to rise every year, housing prices in relation to the peak of the market in 2006 are at a standstill, or even are decreasing in many cities. The housing market has fully recovered from the devastation of 2006. Currently, homes in San Francisco are worth, on average, almost 15% more than in 2008. Unfortunately, due to inflation the majority of the value in the housing market has decreased since the mortgage fallout, by 19.4% ("American House Prices"). The housing market peaked just before the collapse of 2006, mainly because banks became greedy and did not check the majority of their clients credit scores. As the time passed, banks soon realized that their plans were not unfolding as planned. The Washington Post estimated that at the time of the fallout 1 in 5 mortgage holders had below average credit. In many banks, whole empires were controlled by "subprime mortgages". This meant homebuyers who had poor credit scores dictated the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Attitudes are generally positive or negative views of a person, place, thing, or event–– this is often referred to as the attitude object. People can also be conflicted or ambivalent toward an object, meaning that they simultaneously possess both positive and negative attitudes toward the item in question. • 77. Establishing A Leadership Philosophy Helps Guide Actions,... All leaders wield a certain significant level of influence within their organizations or over their followers based upon their own personal philosophy. Being a leader without considering on a personal level key values that one finds important can result in inconsistent outcomes. Establishing a leadership philosophy helps guide actions, behaviors and thoughts. A leadership philosophy is developed through a combination of internal and external forces that impact an individual over their lifetime. There have been a number of theories formulated that attempt to explain what the traits of a successful leader consists of. One theory is that certain traits such as extraversion, intelligence, openness, conscientiousness, and experience are often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By constantly reflecting on how a leaders actions impact their followers a successful leader can recognize their assumptions and learn how they, as leaders, react to certain situations. Patti Clayton, a faculty member for North Carolina State University and article writer for the journal On the Horizon states, "the value of reflection on experience as a way to enhance learning has been advanced since the days of Dewey (1910), who noted that such reflection is key not only to improved understanding, but also to more informed and effective action. Learning through reflection on the implementation of innovative pedagogies, especially those that are themselves grounded in reflection on experience" (Clayton). To develop and grow as a leader it is important that reflection occurs. Personally, I have reflected on both the positive and negative significant events in my life. I have attempted to recognize the meaning of each event and somehow identify how I could grow as a result. I take the time out of my schedule every three days to reflection my actions that I think are significant to me or anyone that I have come in contact with. • 79. Never On A Sunday, By Companies Like Mccoy 's Building... Never on a Sunday is a case study that discusses the philosophy carried out by companies like McCoy's Building Supply and Chick Fil–A. Both of these organizations are perfect examples of "Organizational or Corporate culture" defined as a system of shared actions, values, and beliefs that develop within an organization that guides the behavior of its members (Schermerhom, Osborn, Uhl– bien, Hunt, 2012, p. 348). At McCoy's for example "Managers are asked to concentrate on service related issues" Managers focus more on the items in store and customer service and the majority of their administrative workload is handled through headquarters (Schermerhom, Osborn, Uhl– bien, Hunt, 2012, p. 353). Working as a manager myself that really sounds like a great method of management. There are many times where my boss and the rest of the management team where I work struggles. Keeping up with all the administrative duties and the store at the same time can be really trying and is a never ending workload. This makes neither one of them get the attention they require and more often than not we find ourselves trying to do just enough administrative work and just enough floor work to get through the day. Additionally, the management teams meet regularly to discuss products and other important aspects that impact the stores.
