Why have you decided on this project?
There is a gap in the market for platforms that are solely based on skateboarding. We have
a strong knowledge in the subject and so making a skateboard related platform would be in
our best interest. I think that with my inside knowledge that I could create a good set of
images with new techniques that I could incorporate into my final major project, which will
ultimately be based on print mostly photography.
Project Concept: 200 words approx.
What is the concept for your project and what are you going to make?
What research will you need to conduct and how will it help you make your project?
The concept for the project would be an app made for skater that help share clips, get
recognised in the local and surrounding areas of York, and share other skating related
subjects- a skateboard forum that is easy to use and is made for social interaction.
Research that is needed would be finding out what style of skating is most popular to
nearby areas-street, park, freestyle or anything else, what types of clips do people like- one
clip or full length video, what brands people are loyal to. Finding out the answers to these
questions and utilising them would help the platform be the best of all other platforms.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: 50 words approx.
How do you plan to evaluate the work? Reference conducting on-going evaluation (Production
Reflections) and your final self-reflection (Evaluation), analysing your work and its outcomes.
How will this process help developing your working practices as you continue with your
study/media career?
Evaluation could be comparing the final content and research to what major platforms have and
what other apps skaters like to use. Using the production diary to see what went well and what
didn’ t go well. I think that these evaluating processes will help my final major product be the best it
could.
