2. Week1
February9th-
11th
I did research on some people in the area I was looking
at; I looked at an editor who worked for an early
fanzine from the late 70s and a graphic designer who
made album art and work for magazines, I looked at
Penelope Spheeris a film director who made a trilogy
on the LA punk and metal scene, an artist from the
1920’s who was involved in an anti-war collage art
movement, an editor for Slash a magazine about the
early LA punk scene
3. Week2
February15th-
18th
I made my contextual statement and proposal.
I researched into a few similar products like zines,
magazines, film, videos, skateboarding, queer people.
This helped me get a better understanding of what
exactly I want to do so I can focus better on exact
things and not have a loose set of ideas.
4. Week3
march2nd-
march4th
This week I researched into the target audience that
my zine will be aimed at looking at queercore and
hardcore scenes and they’re origins and beliefs.
I also looked at other products on the market that
would be similar to my final project looking at
magazines and documentaries.
5. Week4
march9th –
march11th
This week I researched more
into my topic. I looked at the
hardcore punk scene and
their beliefs and also at
queercore which came out of
the hardcore scene.
I also researched into queer
theory looking at the origins,
the key concepts and how it
incorporates into other
theories and contexts of life.
I also started my research on
to production and got a more
organised and informed look
at collaging, InDesign and
photography inspirations.
6. Week5
march16th-
march18th
This week I looked at problems that I may encounter
whilst making my zine I looked at different ways to
back up data, scanning my content that is physical do I
would have a digital copy of it just in case. I also looked
at my cameras and their specs so that I know how long
I can use it for and also how I will bring a dslr for when
I take photos on the film camera so I will have a digital
copy in case they don’t develop in time ort don’t turn
out the way I wanted.
7. Week6
march30st-
April1st
This week i sorted out pagination so I would have a
better idea of how much content I would need so I
could gather it easier.
I also sorted out my production schedule so that I know
when I can get everything
8. Week7
production
April 6th –April
8th
On the 6th I went out and
conducted 2 interviews for
the experience part of my
zine I gathered quite a lot
on one person but not as
much on the other person,
however I will make up for
this by getting more photos
of them.
On the 7th I wrote up a
transcript for both the
interviews and sorted the
design style for them like
the fonts using.

9. Week8-10
April11th-April
29th
Over break for the holidays I collected a range of
photos and art that I would be able to use for the zine
I used film camera for some of the photos and a digital
camera for the others to have a range of multimedia
effect in it. I also gathered photos that people in the
zine got over the past few months
in the week returning to college I got contacted by a
member of a queer band in harrogate
10. Week11
may1st-may
7th
In this week I collected a couple more artists
interviews and I also got an interview with a band
member from Pigeon Religion where we talked about
music they make and enjoy this was good because I
didn’t have any interviews with musicians yet
I also started formatting how the zine was going to be
layed out by experimenting with shapes and colours
11. Week12
I completed the zine with all the content
I had trouble with uploading the final product to pdf
because the fonts for titles and questions weren’t being
recognised. I tried multiple ways of trying to get the
font recognised like embedding into adobe. I changed
my opening software to acrobat and it worked however
transferring to chrome/ edge would cause the fonts to
be lost. Finally I exported high quality photos into
PowerPoint and not InDesign and worked out great.
