Main area of activity:
Graphical website which hosts written articles, YouTube Channel and Social Media brand.
Rationale:
Immediately, I think of two graphical projects. The first being My Red Goat rock climbing
magazine, and my second graphical project which was my EFT magazine. Both projects I learned
many skills and techniques which I want to carry forward to my final. The main skill I want to take
forward to this final magazine is planning. On my previous magazine, what lacked was the
planning, as I went into each page knowing the style and content, but not the techniques and
layout.
I have learned that media isn't a solo game. People are always willing to lend a hand to help with
your project. During my first project in media, I used 4 actors within a central storyline. Even
though they were completely willing to help, it was difficult to organise them all in one place at a
time. Unfortunately, I haven’t really had to use any other actors. If in this FMP I need to incorporate
someone else's help, I understand the significance of organisation and communication. Without
these two factors, the situation is highly likely to lead to miscommunication, and there for a lack of
productivity.
One area in working with in this project, is audio and video. I will face new challenges as I begin to
experiment with the different setting. Optimising the product as much as possible. One aspect I
can take away from the course, is the experimentation necessary to become comfortable with the
equipment and software around you. Because I have never recorded audio and video together, I
will really indulge myself in different techniques with my camera and microphone to maximise my
time usage. I don’t want to enter production not knowing what button does what. It would be a walk
in the dark, and I would prefer to see where I'm going.
Project Concept:
My project will be about racing. Primarily looking at real races and racing in a virtual sense. A
market not yet covered by mainstream outlets. I want to be looking at real racers, virtual racers
and people up and coming. Combatting stigmas like gender divides in racing is also something I
want to cover with my brand.
Taking forward my knowledge of racing and different entertainment channels; I want to incorporate
the static nature of digital and the creative style of videos. Videos are great at giving their viewers
a lot of information visually, which is quick and easy to decipher, whereas magazines allow people
to stay on the page and look at the work put into it. I believe a clean middle ground is achievable
on a website.
Primarily, Point is a channel and writer which discusses the stresses, mindsets, emotions etc.
surrounding racing and races they participated in (from the perspective of my audience). That is
what I want to convey to someone outside of my working circle. I believe I will be working in two
separate forms under the umbrella of one brand. The main focus will be towards YouTube, aiming
at video production surrounding virtual racing, and potentially actual real GT3 racing if the

possibility arises. The other area where the brand will focus is written articles which will be posted
on a website which I will create. The point of which is to diversify my product range. One audience
(younger) will prefer the video content form and a different (older) audience will prefer to read from
articles, which they have done prior to the expansion of the internet. The articles will include similar
subjects compared to the video content, but I am already thinking about going on location for a
photoshoot.
The main aspect I want to bring forward in this project is the emotion behind the brand. Point to me
is a second personality, and I want that to show. When watching my videos and reading my
articles, I want my audience to feel the emotion and effort I put into the planning and execution of
my work.
Understanding my audience would be key in the long run. If I were to continue this project after
college, the audience would be the focus. I have already planned to conduct two separate pieces
of audience research. Being a questionnaire and interviews with as many people as reasonable. I
want my decisions to be justifiable. To acquire that justification, I should ask people who ‘might’
watch and read my content. Deciding based on their opinions would be more informed then
making a decision purely based what I think is best.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
Evaluating my work, will be aimed at comparing the content to magazines, videos and websites in
the same market as myself. Taking content inspiration from Magazines such as Autosport and The
Race will be effective for me to come back to and see how the writing, font context compares to
their examples. What questions are they asking? Where is text on the page, and what I extracted
from their magazines and applied them to mine. Videos on YouTube is the other comparison that I
will make. The style, transitions and colours are all aspects to take away, and evaluate how
effectively I withdrew the positives from videos and recreated it in magazine form.
Production reflections will be one technique I will use when evaluating my work in this project. I
want to check my plan and research daily, not only for evaluation but also for idea generation and
keeping my production on the same lines.
Another aspect I want to get right is the audience reception. continually asking for feedback from
my audience about the contents of the magazine, but I will need to see how possible it will be to
gather such information during this pandemic.

2 Pre-production Visualising my project
 From the self-personal questions, I can build upon my
proposal planning.
 Create Proposal, target the areas where I'm stong and
where I would like to see improvements. I’m strong with
photo editing, however I don’t really understand how to
operate a camera.

5 Pre-production Application experiments
 Applications where I will be working. This could be many
programs, but its primarily finding weaknesses with how I
think the production will go. It will re-ignite my understanding
of programs I haven't used for a while, like premiere.
 My experimentation stage will aim to leave no stone
unturned. I want to be as prepared as possible to use my
applications as effectively as possible.
 Playing around with possible editing techniques, and how
they can be used in production.
6 Pre-production Equipment experimentation
 To have effective use of the hardware I'm using in my
project, I will have to focus on knowing the ins and outs of
said equipment. When on production, I don’t ever want to be
held up by not knowing how to use an example piece of
equipment like a camera.
 The equipment/hardware experimentation will also leave no
stone unturned. The aim being, to be as prepared for
production as possible.
7 Pre-production Allocating time towards Branding
 I must document where I want my project to finish, what I
want it to look like and why. This phase of pre-production
will be a useful document to evaluate from your perspective,
because you can see how far I differed from what I planned.
While also being a checklist for myself. A planning
document if you will.
 The planning/pre-production document will be aimed at
locating such features like: Brand style, colour schemes,
font usage, potential music, uploading techniques etc.
8 Pre-production Location scouting – gathering contact details
 For any outdoor production, I want to find a location which
suits my project. Currently I am thinking of a racetrack for an
outdoor photoshoot experience.
 Once a potential location is found, I will gather such details
like: Phone, Email, location, future and past weather, health
and safety guidelines, COVID-19 information (how does it
effect the location I am visiting?).
9 Production Beginning of production and daily production reflections
 The start of production will include the setup of my branding.
Social media sites like: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and
twitter all need a profile picture and banner made. Any other
preparation like making a site on Wix.com will be done in
this time.

 Transitioning from normal reflections to production
reflections is a stage I must remember. Documentation of
my process will be key when understanding the evaluation.
Following my production process day by day will also help
me understand how far I've come.
10 Production Area A Production
 My project being split into multiple areas will be positive and
negative. Positive in the light that I can introduce variety and
flexibility, and negative that it might overwhelm me.
 Area A of production is the video production portion of Point.
I am imaging the planning, writing, recording and editing to
be done within this week. But it will really be cutting it short.
 Continuing with the production reflections.
11 Production Area A production finalisation 1 and area C advertisements
 After finishing the production of the video, I will move
towards advertising my work to the public. The prepared
social medias (Facebook, Instagram and twitter) will all have
posts prepared for publishing as advertisement for the video
being produced. Using resources from the video itself, like a
screenshot.
 By this point, my teacher would have sent back my draft
peer feedback, showing me my areas of improvement.
 Based off what they said, I will spend some time Improving
any work.
12 Production Moving to production area B: Articles and Images
 With the Covid-19 lockdown lifting between the 11th and 12th
week, I will organise my photoshoot to be within that time. If
for any reason I cannot gather images at that time, I will
organise to gather image content between the weeks of 12
and 13.
 If all goes to plan, I should have my images, ready to put
into article form. This will then go onto my website.
 Aswell as that, I will go to production area C to prepare
advertising documents for the articles. Using images to post
about what I have made, like I did with the video.
13 Production Production area A phase 2
 Any spare production time will be allocated towards
production area A (Video). Because of the time shortage,
this video is planned to be smaller in length. I don’t want to
go as Indepth with this video. It all depends on how much
time I have to allocate towards the planning and production
of this second phase.
 It will however still follow the same logic I used for the first
phase.

14 Production Finalisation and evaluation
 This week will be spent using the time I have to finalise all
production, fixing any issues I run into.
 Looking back at my documented process, I will evaluate the
different methods and techniques I used to actually get to
my visualised product, mainly looking at how far I differed
from my original plans.
15 Evaluation Final Evaluation
 Fully evaluating the whole perspective of my project, how I
think it came out and what others believe I could improve.
 I am considering doing some more interviews and focus
groups to rigorously critic my work. I intend to use this time
to find areas of improvement, and explain how feasible it
would be to do. For example: “more videos.” This wouldn’t
be achievable with the time I have been allocated.
16 Evaluation Presentation Preparation
 Using my past evaluations, I can break down what I was
informed into positives and negative. I believe I will use the
presentation to provide my perspective on the whole context
behind the planning and production of my project.
 Displaying what my target audience enjoyed and disliked
about my project will provide an extra useful perspective on
top of my own.
17 Moderation Compiling the presentation
 The areas of my project I want to make my presentation
audience aware of is the process which creates the product.
 I plan to illustrate the presentation in such a way that the
people watching could learn from what I did and do it
themselves. Logically thinking, this will have to include the
whole production process as well as the planning of the
brand Point to fully understand where it started and where it
finished.
 I plan to use PowerPoint as the way I display this process,
each slide being assigned to a different stage I went through
on the production.
18 Show Preparation Displaying the presentation
 I plan to present my presentation to the whole class with a
rough guideline of what I should say. Because I lived the
process and created the presentation, I will know what is to
be said. But I will still prepare myself some key points to
remind myself.
 If because of covid-19 I cannot display my presentation to
the class, I will create a video to send upload on my website.

Just an extra process on top of what I already would have
done.
19 Show Recording, editing and uploading the presentation
 I will walk through the presentation process as discussed,
and which route I take (in-person presentation or a recorded
presentation) will be determined by lockdown regulations.
Being how possible at the time of presenting it will be to
come into college or not.
 One of my strong points is being relaxed in an otherwise
tense situation, so I feel at home presenting either way.

FMP - Proposal

  • 1. Proposal 1 Centre Name and Number: York College - 48357 Student Name and Unique Learner Number: Daniel Casey Perry Morland - 349084 Project proposal title and date: Point Main area of activity: Graphical website which hosts written articles, YouTube Channel and Social Media brand. Rationale: Immediately, I think of two graphical projects. The first being My Red Goat rock climbing magazine, and my second graphical project which was my EFT magazine. Both projects I learned many skills and techniques which I want to carry forward to my final. The main skill I want to take forward to this final magazine is planning. On my previous magazine, what lacked was the planning, as I went into each page knowing the style and content, but not the techniques and layout. I have learned that media isn't a solo game. People are always willing to lend a hand to help with your project. During my first project in media, I used 4 actors within a central storyline. Even though they were completely willing to help, it was difficult to organise them all in one place at a time. Unfortunately, I haven’t really had to use any other actors. If in this FMP I need to incorporate someone else's help, I understand the significance of organisation and communication. Without these two factors, the situation is highly likely to lead to miscommunication, and there for a lack of productivity. One area in working with in this project, is audio and video. I will face new challenges as I begin to experiment with the different setting. Optimising the product as much as possible. One aspect I can take away from the course, is the experimentation necessary to become comfortable with the equipment and software around you. Because I have never recorded audio and video together, I will really indulge myself in different techniques with my camera and microphone to maximise my time usage. I don’t want to enter production not knowing what button does what. It would be a walk in the dark, and I would prefer to see where I'm going. Project Concept: My project will be about racing. Primarily looking at real races and racing in a virtual sense. A market not yet covered by mainstream outlets. I want to be looking at real racers, virtual racers and people up and coming. Combatting stigmas like gender divides in racing is also something I want to cover with my brand. Taking forward my knowledge of racing and different entertainment channels; I want to incorporate the static nature of digital and the creative style of videos. Videos are great at giving their viewers a lot of information visually, which is quick and easy to decipher, whereas magazines allow people to stay on the page and look at the work put into it. I believe a clean middle ground is achievable on a website. Primarily, Point is a channel and writer which discusses the stresses, mindsets, emotions etc. surrounding racing and races they participated in (from the perspective of my audience). That is what I want to convey to someone outside of my working circle. I believe I will be working in two separate forms under the umbrella of one brand. The main focus will be towards YouTube, aiming at video production surrounding virtual racing, and potentially actual real GT3 racing if the
  • 2. Proposal 2 possibility arises. The other area where the brand will focus is written articles which will be posted on a website which I will create. The point of which is to diversify my product range. One audience (younger) will prefer the video content form and a different (older) audience will prefer to read from articles, which they have done prior to the expansion of the internet. The articles will include similar subjects compared to the video content, but I am already thinking about going on location for a photoshoot. The main aspect I want to bring forward in this project is the emotion behind the brand. Point to me is a second personality, and I want that to show. When watching my videos and reading my articles, I want my audience to feel the emotion and effort I put into the planning and execution of my work. Understanding my audience would be key in the long run. If I were to continue this project after college, the audience would be the focus. I have already planned to conduct two separate pieces of audience research. Being a questionnaire and interviews with as many people as reasonable. I want my decisions to be justifiable. To acquire that justification, I should ask people who ‘might’ watch and read my content. Deciding based on their opinions would be more informed then making a decision purely based what I think is best. How will the project be evaluated and reviewed: Evaluating my work, will be aimed at comparing the content to magazines, videos and websites in the same market as myself. Taking content inspiration from Magazines such as Autosport and The Race will be effective for me to come back to and see how the writing, font context compares to their examples. What questions are they asking? Where is text on the page, and what I extracted from their magazines and applied them to mine. Videos on YouTube is the other comparison that I will make. The style, transitions and colours are all aspects to take away, and evaluate how effectively I withdrew the positives from videos and recreated it in magazine form. Production reflections will be one technique I will use when evaluating my work in this project. I want to check my plan and research daily, not only for evaluation but also for idea generation and keeping my production on the same lines. Another aspect I want to get right is the audience reception. continually asking for feedback from my audience about the contents of the magazine, but I will need to see how possible it will be to gather such information during this pandemic.

(2021) Evaluation Research (18/05/2021) Week Tasks to be Completed: Specific Tasks 1 Pre-production Early Steps  Final project idea generation.  What areas do I have a useful amount of understanding?  What areas do I want to improve?  What would my project look like when it's completed? 2 Pre-production Visualising my project  From the self-personal questions, I can build upon my proposal planning.  Create Proposal, target the areas where I'm stong and where I would like to see improvements. I’m strong with photo editing, however I don’t really understand how to operate a camera. 3 Pre-production Secondary research – Product research. Similar channels or influencers  How does their content stand out?  What are the best points to take away? 4 Pre-production Primary research – Audience interviews and questionnaires.  Interviews with at least 3 people.  A questionnaire tailored towards my project.  Gathering opinions of my potential target audience.
  • 4. Proposal 4 5 Pre-production Application experiments  Applications where I will be working. This could be many programs, but its primarily finding weaknesses with how I think the production will go. It will re-ignite my understanding of programs I haven't used for a while, like premiere.  My experimentation stage will aim to leave no stone unturned. I want to be as prepared as possible to use my applications as effectively as possible.  Playing around with possible editing techniques, and how they can be used in production. 6 Pre-production Equipment experimentation  To have effective use of the hardware I'm using in my project, I will have to focus on knowing the ins and outs of said equipment. When on production, I don’t ever want to be held up by not knowing how to use an example piece of equipment like a camera.  The equipment/hardware experimentation will also leave no stone unturned. The aim being, to be as prepared for production as possible. 7 Pre-production Allocating time towards Branding  I must document where I want my project to finish, what I want it to look like and why. This phase of pre-production will be a useful document to evaluate from your perspective, because you can see how far I differed from what I planned. While also being a checklist for myself. A planning document if you will.  The planning/pre-production document will be aimed at locating such features like: Brand style, colour schemes, font usage, potential music, uploading techniques etc. 8 Pre-production Location scouting – gathering contact details  For any outdoor production, I want to find a location which suits my project. Currently I am thinking of a racetrack for an outdoor photoshoot experience.  Once a potential location is found, I will gather such details like: Phone, Email, location, future and past weather, health and safety guidelines, COVID-19 information (how does it effect the location I am visiting?). 9 Production Beginning of production and daily production reflections  The start of production will include the setup of my branding. Social media sites like: Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and twitter all need a profile picture and banner made. Any other preparation like making a site on Wix.com will be done in this time.
  • 5. Proposal 5  Transitioning from normal reflections to production reflections is a stage I must remember. Documentation of my process will be key when understanding the evaluation. Following my production process day by day will also help me understand how far I've come. 10 Production Area A Production  My project being split into multiple areas will be positive and negative. Positive in the light that I can introduce variety and flexibility, and negative that it might overwhelm me.  Area A of production is the video production portion of Point. I am imaging the planning, writing, recording and editing to be done within this week. But it will really be cutting it short.  Continuing with the production reflections. 11 Production Area A production finalisation 1 and area C advertisements  After finishing the production of the video, I will move towards advertising my work to the public. The prepared social medias (Facebook, Instagram and twitter) will all have posts prepared for publishing as advertisement for the video being produced. Using resources from the video itself, like a screenshot.  By this point, my teacher would have sent back my draft peer feedback, showing me my areas of improvement.  Based off what they said, I will spend some time Improving any work. 12 Production Moving to production area B: Articles and Images  With the Covid-19 lockdown lifting between the 11th and 12th week, I will organise my photoshoot to be within that time. If for any reason I cannot gather images at that time, I will organise to gather image content between the weeks of 12 and 13.  If all goes to plan, I should have my images, ready to put into article form. This will then go onto my website.  Aswell as that, I will go to production area C to prepare advertising documents for the articles. Using images to post about what I have made, like I did with the video. 13 Production Production area A phase 2  Any spare production time will be allocated towards production area A (Video). Because of the time shortage, this video is planned to be smaller in length. I don’t want to go as Indepth with this video. It all depends on how much time I have to allocate towards the planning and production of this second phase.  It will however still follow the same logic I used for the first phase.

Proposal 6 14 Production Finalisation and evaluation  This week will be spent using the time I have to finalise all production, fixing any issues I run into.  Looking back at my documented process, I will evaluate the different methods and techniques I used to actually get to my visualised product, mainly looking at how far I differed from my original plans. 15 Evaluation Final Evaluation  Fully evaluating the whole perspective of my project, how I think it came out and what others believe I could improve.  I am considering doing some more interviews and focus groups to rigorously critic my work. I intend to use this time to find areas of improvement, and explain how feasible it would be to do. For example: “more videos.” This wouldn’t be achievable with the time I have been allocated. 16 Evaluation Presentation Preparation  Using my past evaluations, I can break down what I was informed into positives and negative. I believe I will use the presentation to provide my perspective on the whole context behind the planning and production of my project.  Displaying what my target audience enjoyed and disliked about my project will provide an extra useful perspective on top of my own. 17 Moderation Compiling the presentation  The areas of my project I want to make my presentation audience aware of is the process which creates the product.  I plan to illustrate the presentation in such a way that the people watching could learn from what I did and do it themselves. Logically thinking, this will have to include the whole production process as well as the planning of the brand Point to fully understand where it started and where it finished.  I plan to use PowerPoint as the way I display this process, each slide being assigned to a different stage I went through on the production. 18 Show Preparation Displaying the presentation  I plan to present my presentation to the whole class with a rough guideline of what I should say. Because I lived the process and created the presentation, I will know what is to be said. But I will still prepare myself some key points to remind myself.  If because of covid-19 I cannot display my presentation to the class, I will create a video to send upload on my website.

Proposal 7 Just an extra process on top of what I already would have done. 19 Show Recording, editing and uploading the presentation  I will walk through the presentation process as discussed, and which route I take (in-person presentation or a recorded presentation) will be determined by lockdown regulations. Being how possible at the time of presenting it will be to come into college or not.  One of my strong points is being relaxed in an otherwise tense situation, so I feel at home presenting either way.
