The Negative Effects Of Climate Change
Climate change is happening and it's is devastating. For example, is is affecting glaciers, the Southwest region, oceans, and agriculture. People know that
climate change is happening because of studies shown in multiple places. For example, studies show that temperatures in the southwest have increased
by almost two degrees Fahrenheit. This shows that climate change is devastating because increasing temperatures can cause damage to the
environment. Also glaciers are melting consistently because of climate change and less snow. According to "National Snow and Ice Data Center" The
amount of land, sea ice that is covered in snow has decreased between 1966 and 2010, over many Northern Hemisphere Regions. From this you can see
that climate change is affecting the world by temperature increases and glaciers melting. All in all climate change is affecting the environment and
humans in negative ways.
Globel change is affecting the glaciers. This is devastating because humans depend so much on glaciers because glaciers provide drinking water, iragate
crops, and helps generate hydroelectric power according to National Snow and Ice Data Center. "About 95 percent of the 300,000 or so glaciers around
the world are shrinking." According to the article "The Big Melt" by Jennifer Barone. Once the glaciers melt, ocean level rises. This could devastating
for the people who will need to move and their houses will lose their values,as well as many cities including New York will be in danger of

The Effects Of Climate Change On Earth
Humanity has had a substantial effect on Earth, one of the most noteworthy being climate change, with the significant increase in the concentration of
greenhouses gases altering the climate of Earth (Walker and Steffen, 1997). The potential causes of climate change are a complex subject, with a wide
variety of interwoven causes and consequences from both biogeophysical and human related sources (Peterson et al., 1997). While ecosystems have
previously shown some ability to naturally adapt to climate change, this resilience have never been challenged by the pressures and demands of a large
human population (IPPC, 2007). Here we explore the possible ways to reduce the extent and effects of climate change, primarily due to human related
causes, to enable us to live in harmony with nature.
Climate is typically determined as the long–term average weather conditions, including seasonal changes, in a certain area, incorporating patterns of
precipitation, temperature, wind, humidity and seasons (Cowie, 2007). These climate patterns play an essential role in shaping the Earths natural
ecosystems, and thus a change in these patterns can consequentially cause a change in the Earth's ecosystems, which subsequently affects all of the
biota living within it. As discussed in the report, Preparing for a Changing Climate (2012), increasing levels of carbon dioxide being released into the
atmosphere, as well as other heat trapping gases, have caused the Earth to become warmer. This has

Informative Essay: Why Is Climate Change So Important?
Why is climate change so important? Is it because we all believe in the end of the world, is based from a cooked–up theory suggesting our planet will
explode as the temperature rises. Is the problem with the changing of the Earth, or is it with the people going against it? To the public, the effects of
climate change are revealed to many as a formality which is rather forgotten, and intentionally ignored. But is this stance such a bad one to take. With
the changes in the Earth's environment, comes warmer weather, longer summers, longer vacations equaling more money. Isn't this what people care
about, the money. Are going to set aside the way we live to improve the ever–increasing temperature of the Earth. For a result, which bears no

The only argument which is produced from this topic, is what to do next, this has been the ongoing question which drives my claim. Why do anything
at all if one does not know what to do. For most activist, a solution which is provided is one of unknown side effects. What is seen on the surface of any
solution give is a sacrifice of a system which has progressed in an exponential way. Why break something which is not broken, the trust if any, which
should be given should be alongside the evolution of technology. A technology which in the past century adversely benefited the world, with a basis of
knowledge which is just breaching the surface. Effects of technology in a changing world where "Child and maternal mortality rates have plunged.
Access to education has soared. Deep poverty is in sharp retreat. Despite the 24/7 distilled drama online and on TV, violence on scales of war to
homicide has been in a long decline..." (Revkin). Rather than blame the man for its flaws, we should be praising ourselves for its progression, solving
problems which had been plaguing man for centuries, and progressing beyond limitation placed on man in the past. The solution to this the current
problem of climate change, should be through the trust of our very own minds, through our progressions of our knowledge, comes the progression of
our technology, benefiting the problems of our world. Trust the process, trust your fellow man or woman. "After tens of thousands of years of
scrabbling by, spreading around the planet, and developing the tools of increasing sophistication, humans are in surge mode and have only just started
to become aware that something profound is going on." (Revkin). As we have in the past, we will weather the storm, and looking back ten years, twenty
years from now, we will be looking at the effects of climate change as a figment of the past. A problem which seems minor to a new kind of climate
change which man will make up to

The Effects Of Natural Disasters
Disasters like the flooding in Houston and the hurricanes across the country are unbelievably destructive and have started to become a major problem
for the world. While these storms are supposed to be rare and are labeled as 100 or 500 year events this idea can be misleading to the public (Nadja,
2017). People hear this and assume that these events only occur once every 500 years but this is not the case a 500–year flood has a 1 in 500 chances of
occurring every year so it's possible to occur frequently. However, Nadja states that "changing landscapes – and a changing climate – could alter the
probability of flooding" (Nadja, 2014) causing these large storms to become more frequent and possibly more powerful. The earth's hydrology is
changing and causing drastic changes in these storms (Nadja, 2014). In conjunction with this rapid urbanization of areas across Houston is affecting
how and where water is flowing which has created lots of problems (Nadja, 2014). These facts come together to create a strong argument that humans
are impacting these storms and possibly causing them to become more dangerous and frequent. Nadja argues that changing landscapes and climate
could be the root of this more frequent natural disasters. As we interact with the planet burning fossil fuels impacting the ozone we are un–naturally
raising the earth's temperature. This raise in temperature has led to the melting of icecaps which has subsequently caused a raise in ocean levels. These

Colorado Changing Climate
Over the centuries, Colorado's climate has changed significantly to mountains, seas, deserts, and tropics. All of which are coming and going with the
changing climate and the shifting tectonic plates. Because of these significant changes, Colorado was a much different place 250 million years ago.
With the tectonic plates moving, we see the climate getting colder to the North Pole and warmer to the South where the equator lies. Furthermore,
Colorado throughout the years has experienced a series of events that have caused drastic changes in the ecosystem. Through cutting–edge technology
and knowledge, scientists have been slowly compiling geological evidence from rocks and sediment to learn more about Colorado's climate from the
past to the present and into the future.
250 million years ago Colorado would have looked tropical, surrounded by water and home to some of the most prehistoric animals, dinosaurs. The
reason for this warmth was due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Climate Change Argumentative Essay
Climate change is a change of our Earth's climate throughout a long period of time. An example of climate change is the glaciers melting in the Arctic.
When the glaciers it signals that our Earth is warming. This is a very serious issue because if the Earth is warming it can cause more intense storms or
make it easier for natural disasters. Natural disasters are already a big enough problem as they are. Climate change is something we can not throw to the
side. This is something that will eventually have very negative effects of life. In this century the Earth's temperature has raised about 1 degree
Fahrenheit. Even the littlest change like this makes a very big difference.
Climate change is caused from many things. One huge factor is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will use more fossil fuels, have more toxins released till we don't have anything anymore. That's the harsh reality, if we don't take action now we
will end up dead. It's so important to get the word out about this right now and do everything possible so our climate doesn't keep getting higher. The
higher it gets the more we are in risk.
We need to care about this issue because it can determine life or death. If we help this situation if could save us. However, if we don't it could kill us.
Since our earth is heating we can get more intense weather which can cause houses to get ruined or even lost. We should care for and help the people
that have lost their homes because the intense weather. We can help by giving food, clothes, donate money, and going to that place and help with the
cleanup. If something were to happen to your belongings and home would you want everyone to not worry or not have any help? I bet not. So let's help
people who have lost their things. This is truly not something we shouldn't worry about and throw to the side. This needs action as soon as possible! I
think we need a law about fossil fuels and burning greenhouse gases. I think it should not be legal. It has too many effects on life that are too
dangerous. Even if this becomes a law some people will still do it and they need consequences. I think this is wrong to have this happening in our world
today. In some places around the world

Climate Change : A Changing For A Brighter Future
Climate Change: A Changing For A Brighter Future About 4.543 billion years ago, planet earth was created. As the years went on, the earth was starting
to support life. Anything from bacterias, insects, animals and humans were starting to prosper and this was becoming a problem for the earth. As the
earth was starting to support new forms of live, many of it resources were being used up and as a result, problems were arising. Problems such as is
there enough water, food and resources were questions of the past. Recently, the new question has revolved around climate change and its effect on
mankind. The reason no one questions climate change and global warming is because not so many people saw a tremendous difference in the earth 's
temperature. However, as the temperature started to rise slowly each day, it became warmer in the long run and people realized that there was a
problem. As of today, climate change is currently the biggest problem we as humans are facing. Climate change is already happening and is one of the
greatest social, economic, and environmental threats facing the planet. However, climate change could be thwarted, by simply looking at the history,
evidence, causes, effects and the solutions of climate change. To pick up the scientific trail of what climate change is today, we need to travel back into
the year 1712. During the year of 1712, there were many historical events taking place, events such as the New York Slave Revolt to Jan van der

How Does Earth's Processes Effect On Organisms
Earth's Processes Effect on Organisms Did you know that the Earth's process has changed, and is still changing, the populations of organisms? Many
studies and facts prove that the Earth's development has affected the population of many different organisms. Volcanoes, plate tectonics, and the ice age
have extremely affected the populations of organisms. For some people, volcanoes are apart of their everyday life. Volcanoes may affect humans but
they also affect other organisms. Depending on how big the eruption is, the magma from the volcanoes can spread and kill plant life and animals.

Polar Bear Vs Polar Bears
Throughout many years, our Earth's climate has changed and fluctuated many times. As of today, our climate has been increasing dramatically. This has
to do with burning too many fossil fuels and creating more greenhouse gases, which make the Earth absorb more sunlight from the sun's rays. Although
this is hurting humans, no one has really thought about how it is affecting the arctic animals. It has affected polar bears and their way of life. Climate
change is also affecting lemmings, and the way they use the snow to survive. The Arctic Fox has a new competitor, the Red Fox. Climate Change is
affecting the biodiversity of animals and could cause a major extinction. Polar Bears have always relied on sea ice for their main activities. They use the
sea ice fro hunting, traveling, and for breeding. Scientists have found that sea ice has been melting earlier in the spring. They have also found that the
time it takes for ice to form again is also taking a longer time in the fall. The problem with this is that the Polar Bears spend all their winter and spring
on sea ice breeding and hunting. On the sea ice, polar bears hunt seals, in fact, that is what they mainly eat. When polar Bears consume the seals, they
provide the needed fats and nutrients needed for the harsh arctic environment. If the ice is melting faster, then that means that seals won't rest on the sea
ice and Polar Bears won't be able to hunt them.(NASA) In the Arctic, there is a continuous trend that seems to be

Climate Change Of The New Nematode Diseases And Changing...
There has been considerable concern over the role of climate change in promoting the emergence of new nematode diseases and in changing the
distribution of existing ones. As the global warming increases, pests and diseases from low latitude regions, where they are much more prevalent may
be introduced at higher latitudes. Recent developments in experimental and modeling techniques facilitate climate change impact assessment on
nematode diseases. Pine wood nematode, bBursaphelenchus xylophilus, severity increases due to increase in the rate of disease development and
potential duration of epidemic due to climate change. (Boland et al., 2004)
Studies predicting impact of climate change on nematode pests of crops are meager in India. Nevertheless, observations on changing infestation
patterns of some important nematode pests over the years show that climate change is influencing nematode pest scenario in the country. Root–knot
nematode, mMeloidogyne graminicola ( m. graminicola) once considered to be a serious pest only in upland rice, has made its importance felt in almost
alll most the rice growing areas and in all types of rice culture, including hill ecosystems in recent years (Prasad and Somasekhar, 2009). Climate
change resulting in reduced water availability, higher temperatures, frequency of droughts together with introduction of new water saving methods of
rice cultivation, such as Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) ,System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and aerobic

Aristophanes ' Clouds : A Religious Commentary On The...
Aristophanes' Clouds, is a religious commentary on the changing philosophical climate in Greece. This is exemplified when Socrates, the teacher of
Sophistry remarks, "... Zeus has been dethroned by Vertigo" (Aristophanes 830). Aristophanes depicts two different Greek ideologies clashing together
causing an ideological shift within Athens. This shift is shown through the tension between different traditions, humans falsely redefining cosmic roles,
and reconciliation of previous beliefs. These conflicts show that Greek theology is being redefined by a Sophist revolution that causes humans to make
their own false reality with Clouds or Vertigo replacing the true gods.
A large aspect of Aristophanes' Clouds illustrates the tension between the old traditional ways that are steeped in divine law, and Sophistry, a new
skeptical individualist movement. In the opening scenes of Clouds, Aristophanes creates an image of a lax society that has been disconnected from the
austere piety that previously defined Athenian society. Pheidippides is a reflection of what Athens has become; an impious state that ranks the wants of
the individual before anything else. Pheidippides only interest is to maintain his wealthy lifestyle regardless of the impact it has on his father.
Pheidippides states that "... Uncle Megacles won't leave me horseless. I'll go to him and pay you no mind!" (Aristophanes 125–26). Pheidippides shows
that he does not care for the old tradition of piety to one's family and is

Climate change in the southwest is devastating because it would not only affect the southwest but it would also affect the world. According to
Southwest National Climate Assessment climate change is a threat to agriculture. This is because "The southwest produces more than half of the
nations specialty crops." If the crops are threatend by global changeing then there would be a limited supply of food for people and wildlife to eat.
These crops depend on irrigation, moisture, coldness, and heat, which we may not have if global changing is continues to happen. Increased warming
also increases the chance of wildfires, which can ruin people's land and agriculture. This also goes along with a limited supply of food because if
wildfires knock out all the feilds that are supplying food for us there wont be enough food. The southwest is home to 90% of the regions population,
with this many people climate change can affect public health. With this large of a poplulation in the south west it could really out a dent in human
population. From this you can see that climate change is devistarting in the Southwest.

Effects Of Environmental Warming On Human Environment
Human activities which include emission from motor vehicles, pollution, cutting down of trees have been attributed to be the major causes of warming
to the earth leading to changes in climatic conditions. The warming in the earth has a lot of detrimental effects on the ecosystem leading to damages as
well as loss of population diversity. The warming also causes the shifting in biomes as well as modifications in the phenological activities for different
species. Due to the changes in climatic conditions, there is intense competition amongst many plant and animal species to enhance their survival which
has led to species invading areas which was previously occupied by another species. On the other hand, changes in vegetation cover, has necessitated
the relocation of human beings and other animals who depended on them and therefore they must change and adapt effectively to the new
environments. The disruptions in the ecosystems especially where there are endangered species and interdependent species have adverse effects on the
diversity and at times leads to extinction as well as affecting the biogeochemical cycles. The climatic changes have effects on ecosystem structures and
functions as well affecting the benefits human beings derive from the ecosystems such as food, water and wood products

changes in the climate change. In

likely to outweigh positive trends in these national parks. Park managers began setting controlled fires in forests where natural wildfires had long been

Tanzania's Climate Essay
Tanzania's Climate
Tanzania represents a wealth of ecological diversity, ethnic diversity, and geographical diversity. It contains both the tallest mountain in Africa as well
as the largest lake, and is a tourist hotspot for safaris and expeditions to Mt. Kilimanjaro. The citizens of Tanzania are utterly dependent on the weather
for their two major businesses, agriculture and tourism. Thus, the climate of Tanzania is worth examining in greater detail.
Tanzania has two distinct seasons, wet and dry. However, the northern region of Tanzania can experience two wet seasons, the longest of which spans
from March to May and the shortest from November to December. The March to May period is known as "the long rains", during which ... Show more

The land of Tanzania, apart from Mt. Kilimanjaro, is relatively flat, with part of the East African plateau of about 1200 m above sea level making up
most of the geography. Therefore, topographic influences do not play much of a part in regulating the creation of storm fronts there. The climate, while
tropical, is best described as semi–arid, with average temperatures between 76 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit.
When I recorded Tanzania's weather (specifically that of its capital, Dodoma) for ten weeks, I noticed very little precipitation (less than one inch during
the ten weeks). It is true that the country was at that time undergoing its dry season, but the absolute lack of precipitation was surprising to me. The
stark contrast between the dry and wet seasons can have severe consequences. If the wet season begins with a sudden, heavy rainfall, there is a large
danger of damage to the crops, since "the vegetation cover is often scanty, so that there is little protection against soil erosion when the rains start"
(Nieuwolt 241–250). In March of 1973, such a situation occurred and the sudden start to the rainy season washed away an entire season's worth of
crops, to the devastation of the agricultural economy (Nieuwolt). Soil erosion is a prevalent problem in Tanzania, not only to farmers but also to the
general populace, who might just find their homes washed away with the first rainfall of the wet season. At this time, little is being done

Causes And Effects Of Climate Change
CLIMATE CHANGE Climate change is changes in the usual weather patterns within a certain area. This includes how much rain a certain country gets
during a year, or a change in temperature over a certain season in another destination. Climate change is not the same as changes in weather, as weather
can change in a few hours or minutes, but climate change takes hundreds and millions of years to change. The climate of earth is always changing, the
temperature of the earth can change and last millions of years, and then peak or trough for the next few millions of years. There is evidence given by
scientists who study these climate changes that claim earths temperature has risen by one degree Fahrenheit in the last one hundred years. One degree
Fahrenheit is even less than one degree Celsius, so it may not seem like such a small change could affect the earth, but this small change already has big
consequences. CAUSES There are many events and variables that are beyond our control that can cause the earths climate to change, the climate can be
impacted by the earths distance from the sun, as we will receive less solar radiation, Or the sun can send less solar radiation to the earth. When
volcanoes erupt it can also impact the climate. But the main concern about climate change, is what we as modern day humans are contributing to it.

DEFINITONS: BLUE TERMS
Albedo
The amount of solar radiation that is reflected by a surface or object. If something has a high Albedo it reflects more of the Sun's radiation, whereas a
low reflection then reflects less. Snow and ice, both have a high albedo as they both reflect high proportions other Sun's radiation. A couple examples of
a substance having a low albedo would be vegetation (grass or trees) and oceans. Though the albedo of soils and earth does vary as factor such as cloud
cover, snow, ice, leaf cover, and land use affect how much radiation a surface can reflect from the Sun.

Earth's climate has always been changing, though the change that is being observed now is such a concern due to certain factors. The thing that is
concerning about climate change is the rapid rate at which it is occurring. Changes in climate are happening at a very fast speed, changes in the past
were dramatic but gradual at the same time, over a time span of thousands of years. Also, the possibility of climate change to continue at the same
speed is very likely as many factors both natural and human activities affect it.
Although the media often refer to "Global Warming," a more appropriate term is "Global Climate Change." Why does it matter, and what is the
difference?
A more appropriate term for the change we are witnessing in climate is Global Climate Change rather than Global Warming. The term Global warming
means that the climate of the Earth is increasing in temperature, globally. Yes, the world is getting warmer although there are many factors that take a
part in this change in climate. These factors such as precipitation, and evaporation are all part of this global change and in order to include all these
changes a better term is needed rather than Global Warming. The term that can be used to modify the understanding of these changes is "Global Climate
Change." Global Climate Change

The drought has weakened the ability of farmers who produce food. Therefore, sub–Saharan Africa and Australia farmers obtained reduced income and
tax revenues. Instead, food prices and the rate of unemployment were increased. Compared with sub–Saharan Africa, Australia had more severe
financial problems. With an economic recession spreading in agricultural industry, Australia farmers are encumbered by debts that they cannot afford
new technologies or crops.
In response to the economic crisis, sub–Saharan Africa adjusted the corresponding market system, which was input/output market development. The
goal of the input/output market was to regulate prices and consumption during the drought period to minimize the loss of farmers. Furthermore, sub–
Saharan Africa encouraged farmers to diversify the livelihoods to lighten stresses. Unlike sub–Saharan Africa, numerous Australia farmers tried to gain

The Importance Of Climate Change
Climate Change
What have we done to our earth? If we no longer need to debate whether the Earth is flat, then we no longer need to entertain the possibility that man is
not making an unsustainable impact on the planet. Earth hates us and I would too, from the plastic churning throughout the oceans, to the number of
trees delimiting, and the killing storms, Earth is changing and it is mad, but what is worse is a person's ignorance on climate change and the lives this
change it is affecting.
Scientific evidence for the warming of earth's climate is doubtful. Earth is undergoing a gradual increase in the overall temperature of earth's
atmosphere. Climate change is no longer an environmental issue but not contributing to a social issue, which affects every person's lives in several
different ways and intensities. Climate change is an economic, social, and environmental issue. Acceptance of climate change is the first step in a
positive acknowledgment to advance forward in handling this issue. Climate change has become an issue prevalent in people's lives rather than just the
environment. The issue is not that the world has more carbon dioxide, and it is not that the world is warmer. The issue here is the speed at which the
world is changing. The biggest issue is the blind side our population is willing to turn to the matter.
Climate change affects several people in a numerous way and with different severities but the lives climate change may affect most starts with people

Organisms Response to the Increases in Extreme Weather Events
AN ORGANISMS RESPONSE TO THE INCREASES IN EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS
The global climate has increased by approximately 0.6°C over the last 100 years (Walther et al. 2002). This increased rate of changes is largely due to
humans: the industrial revolution, the advancement of technology and burning of fossil fuels (Timmermann et al. 1999). This human involvement has
gradually changed the natural order of the environment and many of its processes. Some of these environmental conditions are not easily predictable, as
these climatic changes are also increasing more extreme weather events such as: droughts in the savannah country, floods in low lying areas and an
increase in intensity of cyclonic events (Knutson et al. 2010).
Human interactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, older bacteria lineages indicate slower rates of change and a few genes were seen to be niche specific (Hao and Golding 2006). Similarly
various insect groups have many generations over a short period of time and demonstrate high fecundity rates. The overall influence of the changing
climate could cause swifter speciation or variation in species richness or a change in the order of trophic levels (Nicolakakis et al. 2003, Petchey et al.
1999).
Organisms do not spontaneously evolve to these globally predicted changes rather they respond to their regional or local environment (Hoffman and
Sgró 2011). The idea of behavioural plasticity, which is the evolutionary way to respond to change through behaviours, is the approach organisms use
to adapt rapidly to change. A component of this behavioural plasticity is behavioural flexibility, which is the ability of phenotypes to show reversible
switching. In this review I will first discuss unpredictability of climates and climatic events in the tropics. I will then explore how behavioural plasticity
plays a major role in organisms coping with weather extremes. I will further demonstrate how climate change could alter the way we perceive the once
stable tropics, with regards to human involvement in the changing landscape of the tropics. I suggest that behavioural plasticity

Climate Change And Resource Scarcity
Climate Change & Resource Scarcity
Resources throughout the United States are being exhausted an alarming rate. In fact, "95% of the original forests in the United States are now gone"
(DiCaprio).Personally, I think this is a shocking and eye opening statistic. The statistic really gives you an insight on how much of the natural world
humans have used in order to sustain the lifestyles they currently live. However, people cannot continue to use natural resources at the current rate
because they won't be able to sustain us for the future. One component that is affecting our resources is climate change. Countries all over the world are
experiencing changes in their climates that have caused droughts and conflicts over natural resources, such as water and oil. Additionally, a changing
climate will cause healthcare systems all over the world to adapt to treating new diseases (Richardson, et al. 44).
Earth is a planet that has many complex components that work in unison to allow humans and millions of other species to live on it. Stephen Emmott,
author of Ten Billion states, "the main components of the systems are the atmosphere (the air we breathe), hydrosphere (the planet's water), cryosphere
(the ice sheet and glaciers), and the biosphere (the planet's plants and animals" (36). Throughout the course of human history, humans and the Earth
have lived in mutual harmony. Humans didn't alter the Earth's natural systems and cycles, and, as a result, humans have had a fairly

Informative Speech: Climate Change If Not You Will
We have one World, one chance, why do we choose to waste it. Hello ladies, gentlemen, and judges. Today I'm coming to speak to you about one very
urgent matter, climate change. Now bear with me here, I'm assuming that everyone here is aware of climate change if not you will. Climate change is
the change of the average temperature in earth's atmosphere and oceans. Now earth's temperature is always changing and will continue to change, but
the way we're going it's not for the better. Now I'm sure at least one of you have heard a politician or someone like that saying climate change isn't
actually true it's a hoax, I'm here to prove that wrong. Now it's easy to remain ignorant but at this point, we must face the truth, the facts are there. Now
let us begin.

The Causes Of Climate Change
Introduction:
Hi! My name is Aliyah. Did you feel any changes in the climate during the past few years? Have you notice how hot it was last September? This is
happening due to climate change. Today i will elaborate on the causes, the effects and how we can help. Climate change is the change in weather
patterns which can last for extended period of time, even millions of years. Climate change affects the greenhouse effect. Without greenhouse gases, the
temperature on Earth would be too cold to support life. With too much, it would heat up beyond survivable levels.
Body:
What is causing climate change?
The Earth's climate can be affected by natural factors, such as changes in volcanic activity, solar output, and the Earth's orbit around the Sun. However,
carbon dioxide is the main cause of human–induced climate change. It can also be caused by the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, pollution from
industries and transportation.
What countries are the most affected or in danger? The countries that contribute more to the climate change is China, US, and India. According to the
results, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh and China could be most affected by climate change. For example, China is badly affected as the
cities are covered by a thick layer smog most of the year, caused by air pollution. If this continues, the Maldives will completely disappear in 30 years
because the sea level is rising and the land is low.
What are the effects? Plants and animals are

Persuasive Essay On Deforestation
Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of wood. Look around you, how many things are not made
out of wood? Deforestation is the destruction or removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue deforestation links
directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate change as well as several health problems. Deforestation can be solved if
everyone helped, but not everyone has the same perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do not believe that climate change is
an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation because they are unaware or because they do not care about anything beside themselves. I
became interested in this topic after knowing that in countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people are less healthy. Although Canada does not
struggle with deforestation as much compared to China and the US, I do not want the same to happen.
One issue that deforestation causes is extinction––––the permanent loss of species. Each species is unique and different but most share the same home:
the forest. While others say that logging creates jobs and lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where will they go
when they no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species that have ever existed are now gone. The loss of species may result
in environmental repercussion. All living things are connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer be balanced. The government need
to raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material made of weed, lime and water that can be used as
a substitute for wood in houses. This method can save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to construction. Second of all, deforestation has many
unexpected effects to the environment and may result in negative consequences such as climate change. Tree protect the soil from erosion, they produce
oxygen and store carbon dioxide along with purifying the air and controlling the climate. When forests are cut down, the carbon stored in the trees will
be released back into the

The Effects of a Changing Climate Melting ice caps, intense heat waves, and rising sea levels are all clear indicators that the climate is changing. Many
scientists from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) predict a temperature rise of two to ten degrees Fahrenheit over the next century
("Global"). The future forecasts also calls for greater intensity hurricanes, droughts, and an ice free arctic. The public does not believe that climate
change will significantly affect them but it will and already greatly has. Many different factors come into play when trying to find a cause for the

Although, replanting can reduce CO2 levels it is not enough to reverse the changes in the climate. The change in climate can also affect the rain patterns
a specific region experiences. Climate change can cause more or less rain to fall throughout the year around the globe. More precipitation would occur
in the northern regions of the world and much less would occur in the southern regions. This can result to flooding in the north and drought in the south.
Neither of these scenarios is superior to the other. They both result in a loss of crops and damage to buildings and homes. Houses and higher built
buildings would be washed away by the rushing water. This would also cause damage to vehicles, farms and landmarks. On the other hand, a drought
would leave the area dry and unable to support the growth of any plants or crops. A drought would also greatly increase the chance for fires due to the
lack of water in the soil and heat. Many establishments may catch fire and spread to nearby buildings. With both drought and flooding, the price of food
needed for individuals would rise significantly. Any consumable goods would be scarce and there would be much competition to see what stores could
buy it for the least amount of money and make the most when selling it. Farms would no longer be an option for growing food if it floods or if the crops
dry out and die. Bodies of water hold many different species around the world. However, humans are

Rhetorical Analysis Of Leonardo Dicaprio's Speech
Rhetorical Analysis of Leonardo DiCaprio's Speech As debates surrounding climate change have grown in recent times, especially with Donald
Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, many environmentalists have evidently viewed his deed as a call to action. In today's world,
environmental change has been glossed over simply for the fact that some disagree upon its existence. In turn, other well known figures have taken
matters into their own hands; as a strong believer in climate change himself, famous actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio gave a powerful
speech in front of the United Nations (UN) Climate summit. Through use of the rhetorical triangle, the three appeals, the patterns of development, and
SOAPSTone, DiCaprio presents his speech effectively to his audience. DiCaprio includes several appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos throughout his
speech to convey that environmental problems need resolution. Although he is not a scientist, DiCaprio builds his ethos through saying, "I am not a
scientist, but I don't need to be." He recognizes that resolving environmental damage doesn't have to fall in the hands of only the science community.
Therefore, he takes initiative by presenting himself as a concerned human being with only the thought of making the Earth cleaner. Additionally, he
uses logos by stating not only facts but also bringing attention to information that should already be obvious. After talking about way to improve our
environment through economy, he states, "The economy will die if our ecosystems collapse." As the economy relies on the environment for it's
resources that later facilitate trade, only a healthy environment can maintain a steady economy. In addition, DiCaprio uses pathos throughout his speech
to invoke fear and guilt. Most notably in his speech, he states, "And solving this crisis is not a question of politics. It is our moral obligation..." He
points out that despite knowing the Earth is changing in a negative way, people would rather choose to fight each other instead of tackle the
environmental problems themselves. And as a result of the human ability's failure to separate political views aside from bigger problems, the future
generations on the Earth will

Hybrid Vehicles and Earth's Changing Climate Essays
Motorized Vehicles are one of the most important technologies within our modern world. We use cars for many reasons, some are to run errands, go to
a friend's house, or even on a family vacation. Transportation plays a huge role in not only America, but also most of the world. Cars offer fast and
reliable hauling from place to place. Technology has led us to cars that emit gasses that harm the environment but have also pushed us to scientifically
advance our system into being more energy efficient. Hybrid cars are the alternative solution to solving our problem of global warming. Hybrid cars

Buying a hybrid isn't just saving you money on gas but it also keeps our planet clean. "Every time an automobile burns a gallon of gasoline it releases
22 pounds of carbon dioxide. Carbon monoxide is also a damaging greenhouse gas. Cars account for 76 percent of the carbon monoxide in the earth's
air. Carbon monoxide affects the bloods total capacity for carrying oxygen to the heart, brain, and other important organs" (CEERT). Fuel efficiency
isn't just a benefit to saving money; it is a major benefit for the health of everybody. Instead of clogging the air with unhealthy and deadly gasses, we
can minimize the health issues that are related to the unhealthy atmosphere. Fuel efficiency is one of the main reasons Americans purchase a new car
and with technology advancing each day; we see the trial and error of the modern world evolve. By the automobile technology rising, we haven't just
found a solution to our problem but have also created a major problem by polluting the earth. In past years, levels of air, noise, and sight pollution were
much lower than they are today. There are more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience higher levels of pollution than before. The
automobile is one of the leading suppliers of pollution in our cities. They release toxic emissions into our atmosphere that are affecting not only humans
but affecting the world around us. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution.

Politics Is Blame For A Changing Climate
Politics is to Blame for a Changing Climate In the 1980's, scientists discovered three important pieces of information that would shape American
politics and the environment for years to come. The Earth was getting warmer, the warming was caused by human pollution to the air and sea, and
future generations would suffer (Hansen). Few believed these environmentalists at first, but as science progressed, the signs that climate change was a
real threat became more and more apparent. Today, the debate on climate change is a popular topic, especially in national politics. Although one may
assume the first step to fixing these environmental problems is to talk about it, evidence shows that political debate over the issue actually masks it ...

This fact should spark a disturbance with many citizens because it shows how congressional votes depend on the use of a carbon dioxide emitting fossil
fuel to make decisions. Some argue that the decisions politicians make will not truly affect Americans; however, this is not a sound argument. Perhaps
these people do not see the full effect of a politician's stance on the environment right away. That all changes when certain politicians, especially
conservatives, are voted into office. When a certain group has control over the government and governmental policies, areas such as the food industry
can be manipulated to follow this economy–over–environment pattern. For instance, in Elizabeth Grossman's article "Banned in Europe, Safe in the
U.S.," Grossman describes "the process for restricting chemical use under the TSCA can also take years; in fact, only a handful of chemicals have ever
been barred under TSCA" (Grossman 5). This quote clearly illustrates that getting rid of unsafe or potentially unsafe chemicals is almost impossible. If
it does occur, people will still be exposed to the chemical for years to come. Why would the government want to use such harsh chemicals? The
chemical is working to better the economy, whether it is being sold in grocery stores or used to create a product produced by thousands of workers to
stimulate job growth. The government does not want to risk the economy over dangerous environmental impacts. The

Climate change: Climate change is one of a larger set of large–scale environmental changes occurring in today's world. Climate change affects the
social and environmental determinants of health clean air, safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter.
Over the last 50 years, Human activities –particularly the burning fossil fuels have released sufficient quantities of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse
gases to trap additional heat in the lower atmosphere and affect the global climate.
Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and precipitation patterns are changing Extreme weather events are becoming more intense and frequent.

Earth’s Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic
Earth's Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic
Professor Pollack's lecture on the transformation of the Arctic provided a good overview on the potential socio–economic and geopolitical impacts
brought by climate change. The harsh conditions, severe storms, ice cover, and long periods of darkness in the Arctic have made human exploration and
habitation difficult. Driven largely by interacting forces of climate change and increased human activities, the Arctic region is warming at twice the
global average since 1980 [1].
As the Earth keeps warming, the Arctic's summer sea ice is vanishing at a stunning pace. This rapid melt is expected to have significant environmental
and health consequences for the entire world, including sea level rise, affecting agriculture, endangering water and food security, erosion of coastal
habitats, increasing intensity of natural disasters, and species extinction. Countries have since responded to climate change by adapting to its impacts
and acceding to various international treaties such as the Kyoto Protocol to mitigate green house gas emissions, thereby reducing the rate and
magnitude of change.
On the flip side, the loss of sea ice could allow greater human access to the region with the potential for increased maritime transport, tourism,
exploitation of natural resources such as fisheries and most importantly, oil and gas. The summer ice cover in the arctic has dropped by more than 40
percent over the last few decades,

The Negative Effects Of Climate Change
Imagine not being able to see outside or imagine having to life in a shelter because the world outside has changed so much it's not as inhabitable as it
once was. Climate change is impacting the earth in various ways that will eventually cause the earth to become uninhabitable due to the harmful
impacts, to the negative effects to the environment, and how the humans and animals are getting impacted just the as the rest of the world. Humans
must immediately address climate change in order to ensure survival of all living things that are on earth. Climate Change has impacted the earth in all
areas, from research scientists have done over the years. Carbon dioxide is the most leading source of pollution that impacts the atmosphere and many
"scientists believe it would require only a small increase in the total amount of carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere to produce a significant
increase in average global temperature. Increases in global temperatures over recent decades appear to be related to increasing levels of atmospheric
carbon dioxide stemming from human industrial activity" (Renneboog). The humans have produced 38.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide from factories
and automobiles. Humans have added about 3.4% of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere within the last year, this increase of CO2 in the air has increased
the Earth's temperature about 1.2 degrees since 1900 and scientists think in the next century the temperature will be around 10.4 degrees, this might

What Factors Influence Earth 's Climate?
Lewis, Emily
What factors influence Earth's climate?
Earth's climate, or the particular weather patterns over an extended period of time, has many contributing factors and has varied over the course of the
planet. The planets' global climate can also be broken down into regional climates based on the weather patterns of a specific area of land. These
differing regional climates are averaged together and all contribute to the overall global climate of the planet. The Earth's global climate effects factors
such as temperature, amount of rainfall, glacial melting, and rising and downfall of sea level, along with many more aspects of planet Earth. Affected
by both natural and man–made elements, Earth's climate is constantly changing. These climatic changes have been taking place for 4.6 billion years and
are now studied by using satellite–derived and thermometer–based temperature records and trends. However, these methods only allow scientists to
study the global climate as far back as the 17th and 18th century, just a small fraction of Earth's lifespan. In order to extend our understanding of Earth's
climate beyond this instrumental record of just a few centuries, scientists use proxy data, or natural clues that are buried in sediments, coral reefs, tree
rings, fossil pollen, and glaciers. Methods such as paleomagnetism, tephrochronolgy, and radiocarbon dating assist in the extended understanding of
Earth's changing climate over the course of time.

Polar bears are declining in numbers as the sea ice is diminishing. There are fewer than 25,000 polar bears left in the wild, "the population has dropped
about 40 percent between 2001 to 2010, from 1,500 to 900 bears." Not only has the number of polar bears decreased, but they have been acting
strangely as their surroundings continue to decrease. The different strategies that polar bears are using to survive are what's keeping them alive,
according to Becker the polar bears are changing their appetite by eating a species of dolphins that got trapped in the melting ice. Also, the polar bears
have started eating snow geese eggs as a backup source of food. In addition, the bears are starting to spend more time on the shores during the
summertime instead of hibernating. Lastly, the polar bears are so desperate to eat that they end up eating human food and ... Show more content on

The Devastating Effects of Climate Change

  • 1. The Negative Effects Of Climate Change Climate change is happening and it's is devastating. For example, is is affecting glaciers, the Southwest region, oceans, and agriculture. People know that climate change is happening because of studies shown in multiple places. For example, studies show that temperatures in the southwest have increased by almost two degrees Fahrenheit. This shows that climate change is devastating because increasing temperatures can cause damage to the environment. Also glaciers are melting consistently because of climate change and less snow. According to "National Snow and Ice Data Center" The amount of land, sea ice that is covered in snow has decreased between 1966 and 2010, over many Northern Hemisphere Regions. From this you can see that climate change is affecting the world by temperature increases and glaciers melting. All in all climate change is affecting the environment and humans in negative ways. Globel change is affecting the glaciers. This is devastating because humans depend so much on glaciers because glaciers provide drinking water, iragate crops, and helps generate hydroelectric power according to National Snow and Ice Data Center. "About 95 percent of the 300,000 or so glaciers around the world are shrinking." According to the article "The Big Melt" by Jennifer Barone. Once the glaciers melt, ocean level rises. This could devastating for the people who will need to move and their houses will lose their values,as well as many cities including New York will be in danger of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. The Effects Of Climate Change On Earth Humanity has had a substantial effect on Earth, one of the most noteworthy being climate change, with the significant increase in the concentration of greenhouses gases altering the climate of Earth (Walker and Steffen, 1997). The potential causes of climate change are a complex subject, with a wide variety of interwoven causes and consequences from both biogeophysical and human related sources (Peterson et al., 1997). While ecosystems have previously shown some ability to naturally adapt to climate change, this resilience have never been challenged by the pressures and demands of a large human population (IPPC, 2007). Here we explore the possible ways to reduce the extent and effects of climate change, primarily due to human related causes, to enable us to live in harmony with nature. Climate is typically determined as the long–term average weather conditions, including seasonal changes, in a certain area, incorporating patterns of precipitation, temperature, wind, humidity and seasons (Cowie, 2007). These climate patterns play an essential role in shaping the Earths natural ecosystems, and thus a change in these patterns can consequentially cause a change in the Earth's ecosystems, which subsequently affects all of the biota living within it. As discussed in the report, Preparing for a Changing Climate (2012), increasing levels of carbon dioxide being released into the atmosphere, as well as other heat trapping gases, have caused the Earth to become warmer. This has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Informative Essay: Why Is Climate Change So Important? Why is climate change so important? Is it because we all believe in the end of the world, is based from a cooked–up theory suggesting our planet will explode as the temperature rises. Is the problem with the changing of the Earth, or is it with the people going against it? To the public, the effects of climate change are revealed to many as a formality which is rather forgotten, and intentionally ignored. But is this stance such a bad one to take. With the changes in the Earth's environment, comes warmer weather, longer summers, longer vacations equaling more money. Isn't this what people care about, the money. Are going to set aside the way we live to improve the ever–increasing temperature of the Earth. For a result, which bears no relevance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only argument which is produced from this topic, is what to do next, this has been the ongoing question which drives my claim. Why do anything at all if one does not know what to do. For most activist, a solution which is provided is one of unknown side effects. What is seen on the surface of any solution give is a sacrifice of a system which has progressed in an exponential way. Why break something which is not broken, the trust if any, which should be given should be alongside the evolution of technology. A technology which in the past century adversely benefited the world, with a basis of knowledge which is just breaching the surface. Effects of technology in a changing world where "Child and maternal mortality rates have plunged. Access to education has soared. Deep poverty is in sharp retreat. Despite the 24/7 distilled drama online and on TV, violence on scales of war to homicide has been in a long decline..." (Revkin). Rather than blame the man for its flaws, we should be praising ourselves for its progression, solving problems which had been plaguing man for centuries, and progressing beyond limitation placed on man in the past. The solution to this the current problem of climate change, should be through the trust of our very own minds, through our progressions of our knowledge, comes the progression of our technology, benefiting the problems of our world. Trust the process, trust your fellow man or woman. "After tens of thousands of years of scrabbling by, spreading around the planet, and developing the tools of increasing sophistication, humans are in surge mode and have only just started to become aware that something profound is going on." (Revkin). As we have in the past, we will weather the storm, and looking back ten years, twenty years from now, we will be looking at the effects of climate change as a figment of the past. A problem which seems minor to a new kind of climate change which man will make up to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. The Effects Of Natural Disasters Disasters like the flooding in Houston and the hurricanes across the country are unbelievably destructive and have started to become a major problem for the world. While these storms are supposed to be rare and are labeled as 100 or 500 year events this idea can be misleading to the public (Nadja, 2017). People hear this and assume that these events only occur once every 500 years but this is not the case a 500–year flood has a 1 in 500 chances of occurring every year so it's possible to occur frequently. However, Nadja states that "changing landscapes – and a changing climate – could alter the probability of flooding" (Nadja, 2014) causing these large storms to become more frequent and possibly more powerful. The earth's hydrology is changing and causing drastic changes in these storms (Nadja, 2014). In conjunction with this rapid urbanization of areas across Houston is affecting how and where water is flowing which has created lots of problems (Nadja, 2014). These facts come together to create a strong argument that humans are impacting these storms and possibly causing them to become more dangerous and frequent. Nadja argues that changing landscapes and climate could be the root of this more frequent natural disasters. As we interact with the planet burning fossil fuels impacting the ozone we are un–naturally raising the earth's temperature. This raise in temperature has led to the melting of icecaps which has subsequently caused a raise in ocean levels. These warmer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Colorado Changing Climate Over the centuries, Colorado's climate has changed significantly to mountains, seas, deserts, and tropics. All of which are coming and going with the changing climate and the shifting tectonic plates. Because of these significant changes, Colorado was a much different place 250 million years ago. With the tectonic plates moving, we see the climate getting colder to the North Pole and warmer to the South where the equator lies. Furthermore, Colorado throughout the years has experienced a series of events that have caused drastic changes in the ecosystem. Through cutting–edge technology and knowledge, scientists have been slowly compiling geological evidence from rocks and sediment to learn more about Colorado's climate from the past to the present and into the future. 250 million years ago Colorado would have looked tropical, surrounded by water and home to some of the most prehistoric animals, dinosaurs. The reason for this warmth was due to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With all four seasons prominent throughout the year, Colorado's climate is ever changing. • 11. Climate Change Argumentative Essay Climate change is a change of our Earth's climate throughout a long period of time. An example of climate change is the glaciers melting in the Arctic. When the glaciers it signals that our Earth is warming. This is a very serious issue because if the Earth is warming it can cause more intense storms or make it easier for natural disasters. Natural disasters are already a big enough problem as they are. Climate change is something we can not throw to the side. This is something that will eventually have very negative effects of life. In this century the Earth's temperature has raised about 1 degree Fahrenheit. Even the littlest change like this makes a very big difference. Climate change is caused from many things. One huge factor is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We will use more fossil fuels, have more toxins released till we don't have anything anymore. That's the harsh reality, if we don't take action now we will end up dead. It's so important to get the word out about this right now and do everything possible so our climate doesn't keep getting higher. The higher it gets the more we are in risk. We need to care about this issue because it can determine life or death. If we help this situation if could save us. However, if we don't it could kill us. Since our earth is heating we can get more intense weather which can cause houses to get ruined or even lost. We should care for and help the people that have lost their homes because the intense weather. We can help by giving food, clothes, donate money, and going to that place and help with the cleanup. If something were to happen to your belongings and home would you want everyone to not worry or not have any help? I bet not. So let's help people who have lost their things. This is truly not something we shouldn't worry about and throw to the side. This needs action as soon as possible! I think we need a law about fossil fuels and burning greenhouse gases. I think it should not be legal. It has too many effects on life that are too dangerous. Even if this becomes a law some people will still do it and they need consequences. I think this is wrong to have this happening in our world today. In some places around the world ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Climate Change : A Changing For A Brighter Future Climate Change: A Changing For A Brighter Future About 4.543 billion years ago, planet earth was created. As the years went on, the earth was starting to support life. Anything from bacterias, insects, animals and humans were starting to prosper and this was becoming a problem for the earth. As the earth was starting to support new forms of live, many of it resources were being used up and as a result, problems were arising. Problems such as is there enough water, food and resources were questions of the past. Recently, the new question has revolved around climate change and its effect on mankind. The reason no one questions climate change and global warming is because not so many people saw a tremendous difference in the earth 's temperature. However, as the temperature started to rise slowly each day, it became warmer in the long run and people realized that there was a problem. As of today, climate change is currently the biggest problem we as humans are facing. Climate change is already happening and is one of the greatest social, economic, and environmental threats facing the planet. However, climate change could be thwarted, by simply looking at the history, evidence, causes, effects and the solutions of climate change. To pick up the scientific trail of what climate change is today, we need to travel back into the year 1712. During the year of 1712, there were many historical events taking place, events such as the New York Slave Revolt to Jan van der Heyden ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many studies and facts prove that the Earth's development has affected the population of many different organisms. Volcanoes, plate tectonics, and the ice age have extremely affected the populations of organisms. For some people, volcanoes are apart of their everyday life. Volcanoes may affect humans but they also affect other organisms. Depending on how big the eruption is, the magma from the volcanoes can spread and kill plant life and animals. • 17. Polar Bear Vs Polar Bears Throughout many years, our Earth's climate has changed and fluctuated many times. As of today, our climate has been increasing dramatically. This has to do with burning too many fossil fuels and creating more greenhouse gases, which make the Earth absorb more sunlight from the sun's rays. Although this is hurting humans, no one has really thought about how it is affecting the arctic animals. It has affected polar bears and their way of life. Climate change is also affecting lemmings, and the way they use the snow to survive. The Arctic Fox has a new competitor, the Red Fox. Climate Change is affecting the biodiversity of animals and could cause a major extinction. Polar Bears have always relied on sea ice for their main activities. They use the sea ice fro hunting, traveling, and for breeding. Scientists have found that sea ice has been melting earlier in the spring. They have also found that the time it takes for ice to form again is also taking a longer time in the fall. The problem with this is that the Polar Bears spend all their winter and spring on sea ice breeding and hunting. On the sea ice, polar bears hunt seals, in fact, that is what they mainly eat. When polar Bears consume the seals, they provide the needed fats and nutrients needed for the harsh arctic environment. If the ice is melting faster, then that means that seals won't rest on the sea ice and Polar Bears won't be able to hunt them.(NASA) In the Arctic, there is a continuous trend that seems to be ... • 19. Climate Change Of The New Nematode Diseases And Changing... There has been considerable concern over the role of climate change in promoting the emergence of new nematode diseases and in changing the distribution of existing ones. As the global warming increases, pests and diseases from low latitude regions, where they are much more prevalent may be introduced at higher latitudes. Recent developments in experimental and modeling techniques facilitate climate change impact assessment on nematode diseases. Pine wood nematode, bBursaphelenchus xylophilus, severity increases due to increase in the rate of disease development and potential duration of epidemic due to climate change. (Boland et al., 2004) Studies predicting impact of climate change on nematode pests of crops are meager in India. Nevertheless, observations on changing infestation patterns of some important nematode pests over the years show that climate change is influencing nematode pest scenario in the country. Root–knot nematode, mMeloidogyne graminicola ( m. graminicola) once considered to be a serious pest only in upland rice, has made its importance felt in almost alll most the rice growing areas and in all types of rice culture, including hill ecosystems in recent years (Prasad and Somasekhar, 2009). Climate change resulting in reduced water availability, higher temperatures, frequency of droughts together with introduction of new water saving methods of rice cultivation, such as Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) ,System of Rice Intensification (SRI) and aerobic ... • 21. Aristophanes ' Clouds : A Religious Commentary On The... Aristophanes' Clouds, is a religious commentary on the changing philosophical climate in Greece. This is exemplified when Socrates, the teacher of Sophistry remarks, "... Zeus has been dethroned by Vertigo" (Aristophanes 830). Aristophanes depicts two different Greek ideologies clashing together causing an ideological shift within Athens. This shift is shown through the tension between different traditions, humans falsely redefining cosmic roles, and reconciliation of previous beliefs. These conflicts show that Greek theology is being redefined by a Sophist revolution that causes humans to make their own false reality with Clouds or Vertigo replacing the true gods. A large aspect of Aristophanes' Clouds illustrates the tension between the old traditional ways that are steeped in divine law, and Sophistry, a new skeptical individualist movement. In the opening scenes of Clouds, Aristophanes creates an image of a lax society that has been disconnected from the austere piety that previously defined Athenian society. Pheidippides is a reflection of what Athens has become; an impious state that ranks the wants of the individual before anything else. Pheidippides only interest is to maintain his wealthy lifestyle regardless of the impact it has on his father. Pheidippides states that "... Uncle Megacles won't leave me horseless. I'll go to him and pay you no mind!" (Aristophanes 125–26). Pheidippides shows that he does not care for the old tradition of piety to one's family and is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Climate change in the southwest is devastating because it would not only affect the southwest but it would also affect the world. According to Southwest National Climate Assessment climate change is a threat to agriculture. This is because "The southwest produces more than half of the nations specialty crops." If the crops are threatend by global changeing then there would be a limited supply of food for people and wildlife to eat. These crops depend on irrigation, moisture, coldness, and heat, which we may not have if global changing is continues to happen. Increased warming also increases the chance of wildfires, which can ruin people's land and agriculture. This also goes along with a limited supply of food because if wildfires knock out all the feilds that are supplying food for us there wont be enough food. The southwest is home to 90% of the regions population, with this many people climate change can affect public health. With this large of a poplulation in the south west it could really out a dent in human population. From this you can see that climate change is devistarting in the Southwest. Arctic Concentration Of Climatic Processes "An acceleration of these climatic trends is projected to occur during this century, due to ongoing increases in concentrations of green houses gases in global atmosphere. While green house gas emissions do not primarily originate in the arctic, they are projected to bring wide–range changes and impacts to arctic. These arctic changes will, in turn, impact the planet as a whole. For this reason, people outside the arctic have a great stake in what is happening there. For example, climatic processes unique to the arctic have significant effects on global and regional climate. The arctic also provides important natural resources to the rest of the world (such as oil, gas, and fish) that will be affected by climate change. And melting of arctic ... • 29. Effects Of Environmental Warming On Human Environment Human activities which include emission from motor vehicles, pollution, cutting down of trees have been attributed to be the major causes of warming to the earth leading to changes in climatic conditions. The warming in the earth has a lot of detrimental effects on the ecosystem leading to damages as well as loss of population diversity. The warming also causes the shifting in biomes as well as modifications in the phenological activities for different species. Due to the changes in climatic conditions, there is intense competition amongst many plant and animal species to enhance their survival which has led to species invading areas which was previously occupied by another species. On the other hand, changes in vegetation cover, has necessitated the relocation of human beings and other animals who depended on them and therefore they must change and adapt effectively to the new environments. The disruptions in the ecosystems especially where there are endangered species and interdependent species have adverse effects on the diversity and at times leads to extinction as well as affecting the biogeochemical cycles. The climatic changes have effects on ecosystem structures and functions as well affecting the benefits human beings derive from the ecosystems such as food, water and wood products Africa despite being considered as negligible contributor to atmospheric emissions, it has been pointed out to be among the most vulnerable areas to changes in the climate change. However, a climate change forces us to accept that those national parks are endangered and need to be protected. It contains both the tallest mountain in Africa as well as the largest lake, and is a tourist hotspot for safaris and expeditions to Mt. Kilimanjaro. The citizens of Tanzania are utterly dependent on the weather for their two major businesses, agriculture and tourism. Thus, the climate of Tanzania is worth examining in greater detail. Tanzania has two distinct seasons, wet and dry. However, the northern region of Tanzania can experience two wet seasons, the longest of which spans from March to May and the shortest from November to December. Kilimanjaro, is relatively flat, with part of the East African plateau of about 1200 m above sea level making up most of the geography. Therefore, topographic influences do not play much of a part in regulating the creation of storm fronts there. The climate, while tropical, is best described as semi–arid, with average temperatures between 76 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit. When I recorded Tanzania's weather (specifically that of its capital, Dodoma) for ten weeks, I noticed very little precipitation (less than one inch during the ten weeks). It is true that the country was at that time undergoing its dry season, but the absolute lack of precipitation was surprising to me. The stark contrast between the dry and wet seasons can have severe consequences. If the wet season begins with a sudden, heavy rainfall, there is a large danger of damage to the crops, since "the vegetation cover is often scanty, so that there is little protection against soil erosion when the rains start" (Nieuwolt 241–250). In March of 1973, such a situation occurred and the sudden start to the rainy season washed away an entire season's worth of crops, to the devastation of the agricultural economy (Nieuwolt). Soil erosion is a prevalent problem in Tanzania, not only to farmers but also to the general populace, who might just find their homes washed away with the first rainfall of the wet season. This includes how much rain a certain country gets during a year, or a change in temperature over a certain season in another destination. Climate change is not the same as changes in weather, as weather can change in a few hours or minutes, but climate change takes hundreds and millions of years to change. The climate of earth is always changing, the temperature of the earth can change and last millions of years, and then peak or trough for the next few millions of years. There is evidence given by scientists who study these climate changes that claim earths temperature has risen by one degree Fahrenheit in the last one hundred years. One degree Fahrenheit is even less than one degree Celsius, so it may not seem like such a small change could affect the earth, but this small change already has big consequences. CAUSES There are many events and variables that are beyond our control that can cause the earths climate to change, the climate can be impacted by the earths distance from the sun, as we will receive less solar radiation, Or the sun can send less solar radiation to the earth. When volcanoes erupt it can also impact the climate. But the main concern about climate change, is what we as modern day humans are contributing to it. If we no longer need to debate whether the Earth is flat, then we no longer need to entertain the possibility that man is not making an unsustainable impact on the planet. Climate change is an economic, social, and environmental issue. Acceptance of climate change is the first step in a positive acknowledgment to advance forward in handling this issue. Climate change has become an issue prevalent in people's lives rather than just the environment. The issue is not that the world has more carbon dioxide, and it is not that the world is warmer. Organisms Response to the Increases in Extreme Weather Events AN ORGANISMS RESPONSE TO THE INCREASES IN EXTREME WEATHER EVENTS The global climate has increased by approximately 0.6°C over the last 100 years (Walther et al. 2002). This increased rate of changes is largely due to humans: the industrial revolution, the advancement of technology and burning of fossil fuels (Timmermann et al. 1999). This human involvement has gradually changed the natural order of the environment and many of its processes. Some of these environmental conditions are not easily predictable, as these climatic changes are also increasing more extreme weather events such as: droughts in the savannah country, floods in low lying areas and an increase in intensity of cyclonic events (Knutson et al. 2010). Human interactions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, older bacteria lineages indicate slower rates of change and a few genes were seen to be niche specific (Hao and Golding 2006). Similarly various insect groups have many generations over a short period of time and demonstrate high fecundity rates. The overall influence of the changing climate could cause swifter speciation or variation in species richness or a change in the order of trophic levels (Nicolakakis et al. 2003, Petchey et al. 1999). Organisms do not spontaneously evolve to these globally predicted changes rather they respond to their regional or local environment (Hoffman and Sgró 2011). The idea of behavioural plasticity, which is the evolutionary way to respond to change through behaviours, is the approach organisms use to adapt rapidly to change. A component of this behavioural plasticity is behavioural flexibility, which is the ability of phenotypes to show reversible switching. In this review I will first discuss unpredictability of climates and climatic events in the tropics. I will then explore how behavioural plasticity plays a major role in organisms coping with weather extremes. I will further demonstrate how climate change could alter the way we perceive the once stable tropics, with regards to human involvement in the changing landscape of the tropics. I suggest that behavioural plasticity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In fact, "95% of the original forests in the United States are now gone" (DiCaprio).Personally, I think this is a shocking and eye opening statistic. The statistic really gives you an insight on how much of the natural world humans have used in order to sustain the lifestyles they currently live. However, people cannot continue to use natural resources at the current rate because they won't be able to sustain us for the future. One component that is affecting our resources is climate change. Countries all over the world are experiencing changes in their climates that have caused droughts and conflicts over natural resources, such as water and oil. Additionally, a changing climate will cause healthcare systems all over the world to adapt to treating new diseases (Richardson, et al. 44). • 53. The Causes Of Climate Change Introduction: Hi! My name is Aliyah. Did you feel any changes in the climate during the past few years? Have you notice how hot it was last September? This is happening due to climate change. Today i will elaborate on the causes, the effects and how we can help. Climate change is the change in weather patterns which can last for extended period of time, even millions of years. Climate change affects the greenhouse effect. Without greenhouse gases, the temperature on Earth would be too cold to support life. With too much, it would heat up beyond survivable levels. Body: What is causing climate change? The Earth's climate can be affected by natural factors, such as changes in volcanic activity, solar output, and the Earth's orbit around the Sun. However, carbon dioxide is the main cause of human–induced climate change. It can also be caused by the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, pollution from industries and transportation. What countries are the most affected or in danger? The countries that contribute more to the climate change is China, US, and India. According to the results, Cambodia, Vietnam, Philippines, Bangladesh and China could be most affected by climate change. For example, China is badly affected as the cities are covered by a thick layer smog most of the year, caused by air pollution. If this continues, the Maldives will completely disappear in 30 years because the sea level is rising and the land is low. What are the effects? Plants and animals are ... • 55. Persuasive Essay On Deforestation Deforestation Every day we use paper, and every day we sit on or use furniture that is made of wood. Look around you, how many things are not made out of wood? Deforestation is the destruction or removal of forests. In fact, 50,000 trees are being cut down every minute. The issue deforestation links directly with the issues of air pollution, loss of animal habitats and climate change as well as several health problems. Deforestation can be solved if everyone helped, but not everyone has the same perspective. For example, some world leaders like Donald Trump do not believe that climate change is an issue, and a lot of people do not care about deforestation because they are unaware or because they do not care about anything beside themselves. I became interested in this topic after knowing that in countries where deforestation is a bigger issue, people are less healthy. Although Canada does not struggle with deforestation as much compared to China and the US, I do not want the same to happen. One issue that deforestation causes is extinction––––the permanent loss of species. Each species is unique and different but most share the same home: the forest. While others say that logging creates jobs and lowers the risk of uncontrollable wildfires, what about all the animals? Where will they go when they no longer have a home? According to experts, 99% of all existing species that have ever existed are now gone. The loss of species may result in environmental repercussion. All living things are connected, if the connection is broken, nature would no longer be balanced. The government need to raise awareness of citizens, a possible solution to this would be hempcrete. Hemprete is a material made of weed, lime and water that can be used as a substitute for wood in houses. This method can save a lot of trees, since 44% of wood goes to construction. Second of all, deforestation has many unexpected effects to the environment and may result in negative consequences such as climate change. Tree protect the soil from erosion, they produce oxygen and store carbon dioxide along with purifying the air and controlling the climate. When forests are cut down, the carbon stored in the trees will be released back into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Rhetorical Analysis Of Leonardo Dicaprio's Speech Rhetorical Analysis of Leonardo DiCaprio's Speech As debates surrounding climate change have grown in recent times, especially with Donald Trump's withdrawal from the Paris Climate Agreement, many environmentalists have evidently viewed his deed as a call to action. In today's world, environmental change has been glossed over simply for the fact that some disagree upon its existence. In turn, other well known figures have taken matters into their own hands; as a strong believer in climate change himself, famous actor and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio gave a powerful speech in front of the United Nations (UN) Climate summit. Through use of the rhetorical triangle, the three appeals, the patterns of development, and SOAPSTone, DiCaprio presents his speech effectively to his audience. DiCaprio includes several appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos throughout his speech to convey that environmental problems need resolution. Although he is not a scientist, DiCaprio builds his ethos through saying, "I am not a scientist, but I don't need to be." He recognizes that resolving environmental damage doesn't have to fall in the hands of only the science community. Therefore, he takes initiative by presenting himself as a concerned human being with only the thought of making the Earth cleaner. Additionally, he uses logos by stating not only facts but also bringing attention to information that should already be obvious. After talking about way to improve our environment through economy, he states, "The economy will die if our ecosystems collapse." As the economy relies on the environment for it's resources that later facilitate trade, only a healthy environment can maintain a steady economy. In addition, DiCaprio uses pathos throughout his speech to invoke fear and guilt. Most notably in his speech, he states, "And solving this crisis is not a question of politics. It is our moral obligation..." He points out that despite knowing the Earth is changing in a negative way, people would rather choose to fight each other instead of tackle the environmental problems themselves. By the automobile technology rising, we haven't just found a solution to our problem but have also created a major problem by polluting the earth. In past years, levels of air, noise, and sight pollution were much lower than they are today. There are more cars on the road today, and because of this we experience higher levels of pollution than before. The automobile is one of the leading suppliers of pollution in our cities. They release toxic emissions into our atmosphere that are affecting not only humans but affecting the world around us. Automobiles are linked particularly to carbon monoxide pollution. ... Politics Is Blame For A Changing Climate Politics is to Blame for a Changing Climate In the 1980's, scientists discovered three important pieces of information that would shape American politics and the environment for years to come. The Earth was getting warmer, the warming was caused by human pollution to the air and sea, and future generations would suffer (Hansen). Few believed these environmentalists at first, but as science progressed, the signs that climate change was a real threat became more and more apparent. Today, the debate on climate change is a popular topic, especially in national politics. Although one may assume the first step to fixing these environmental problems is to talk about it, evidence shows that political debate over the issue actually masks it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This fact should spark a disturbance with many citizens because it shows how congressional votes depend on the use of a carbon dioxide emitting fossil fuel to make decisions. Some argue that the decisions politicians make will not truly affect Americans; however, this is not a sound argument. Perhaps these people do not see the full effect of a politician's stance on the environment right away. That all changes when certain politicians, especially conservatives, are voted into office. When a certain group has control over the government and governmental policies, areas such as the food industry can be manipulated to follow this economy–over–environment pattern. For instance, in Elizabeth Grossman's article "Banned in Europe, Safe in the U.S.," Grossman describes "the process for restricting chemical use under the TSCA can also take years; in fact, only a handful of chemicals have ever been barred under TSCA" (Grossman 5). This quote clearly illustrates that getting rid of unsafe or potentially unsafe chemicals is almost impossible. If it does occur, people will still be exposed to the chemical for years to come. Why would the government want to use such harsh chemicals? The chemical is working to better the economy, whether it is being sold in grocery stores or used to create a product produced by thousands of workers to stimulate job growth. The government does not want to risk the economy over dangerous environmental impacts. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The conducted research examines fragile archaeological sites in unstable landscapes and articulates climatic and environmental conditions associated to cultural resources. My research includes identifying unknown sites, protecting known sites in unstable landscapes, identifying environmental factors threatening to alter or destroy archaeological resources, and examining human – environmental relationships. The effects of a changing global climate contribute to the rapid melting of snow and ice patches, revealing significant archaeological resources previously preserved in a cryogenic– like stasis. Ice patch archaeology ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Collaborating on an international level remains important for conducting ice patch research due to the rapid melting of alpine ice and decay of valuable artifacts. The work conducted for this thesis included cooperation from Parks Canada. Ice patch research was conducted not only on the U.S. side of the international border, but also on the Canadian side of Chilkoot Pass. Parks Canada allowed me and KLGO archaeologists to use the Canadian warden cabin at the summit of Chilkoot Pass as a basecamp for the ice patch study (Figure 1.4). Working between two sovereign countries emphasizes the matter of climate change as a global issue and the importance in maintaining international relations. Maintaining international relations benefits the scientific community on a global scale and provides significant research opportunities. Since KLGO is a designated international park, the enabling legislation of the designation allows continued cooperation, coordination, and training between the National Park Service and Parks Canada at Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, according to KLGO's general management plan. The legislation enacted for KLGO allows approval for park archaeologists, in concurrence with park management, to conduct fieldwork and research on the Canadian side of the ... • 69. Climate Change Climate change: Climate change is one of a larger set of large–scale environmental changes occurring in today's world. Climate change affects the social and environmental determinants of health clean air, safe drinking water, sufficient food and secure shelter. Over the last 50 years, Human activities –particularly the burning fossil fuels have released sufficient quantities of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases to trap additional heat in the lower atmosphere and affect the global climate. Sea levels are rising, glaciers are melting and precipitation patterns are changing Extreme weather events are becoming more intense and frequent. climate change, together with other characteristic and human–made health stressors, impacts human health and sickness from various perspectives. Some current health dangers will strengthen and new health dangers will develop. Not every person is similarly in danger. Vital consideration incorporate age, monetary assets, and area. In the U.S., general health can be influenced by interruptions of physical, natural, and biological frameworks, including unsettling influences beginning here and somewhere else. The health impacts of these interruptions incorporate expanded respiratory and cardiovascular ailment, wounds and unexpected losses identified with outrageous climate occasions, changes in the commonness and topographical conveyance of nourishment and water– borne ailments and different irresistible maladies, and dangers to emotional ... Earth’s Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic Earth's Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic Professor Pollack's lecture on the transformation of the Arctic provided a good overview on the potential socio–economic and geopolitical impacts brought by climate change. The harsh conditions, severe storms, ice cover, and long periods of darkness in the Arctic have made human exploration and habitation difficult. Driven largely by interacting forces of climate change and increased human activities, the Arctic region is warming at twice the global average since 1980 [1]. As the Earth keeps warming, the Arctic's summer sea ice is vanishing at a stunning pace. This rapid melt is expected to have significant environmental and health consequences for the entire world, including sea level rise, affecting agriculture, endangering water and food security, erosion of coastal habitats, increasing intensity of natural disasters, and species extinction. Countries have since responded to climate change by adapting to its impacts and acceding to various international treaties such as the Kyoto Protocol to mitigate green house gas emissions, thereby reducing the rate and magnitude of change. On the flip side, the loss of sea ice could allow greater human access to the region with the potential for increased maritime transport, tourism, exploitation of natural resources such as fisheries and most importantly, oil and gas. The summer ice cover in the arctic has dropped by more than 40 percent over the last few decades, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Negative Effects Of Climate Change Imagine not being able to see outside or imagine having to life in a shelter because the world outside has changed so much it's not as inhabitable as it once was. Climate change is impacting the earth in various ways that will eventually cause the earth to become uninhabitable due to the harmful impacts, to the negative effects to the environment, and how the humans and animals are getting impacted just the as the rest of the world. Humans must immediately address climate change in order to ensure survival of all living things that are on earth. Climate Change has impacted the earth in all areas, from research scientists have done over the years. Carbon dioxide is the most leading source of pollution that impacts the atmosphere and many "scientists believe it would require only a small increase in the total amount of carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere to produce a significant increase in average global temperature. Increases in global temperatures over recent decades appear to be related to increasing levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide stemming from human industrial activity" (Renneboog). The humans have produced 38.2 billion tons of carbon dioxide from factories and automobiles. Humans have added about 3.4% of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere within the last year, this increase of CO2 in the air has increased the Earth's temperature about 1.2 degrees since 1900 and scientists think in the next century the temperature will be around 10.4 degrees, this might seem ... • 75. What Factors Influence Earth 's Climate? Lewis, Emily What factors influence Earth's climate? Earth's climate, or the particular weather patterns over an extended period of time, has many contributing factors and has varied over the course of the planet. The planets' global climate can also be broken down into regional climates based on the weather patterns of a specific area of land. These differing regional climates are averaged together and all contribute to the overall global climate of the planet. The Earth's global climate effects factors such as temperature, amount of rainfall, glacial melting, and rising and downfall of sea level, along with many more aspects of planet Earth. Affected by both natural and man–made elements, Earth's climate is constantly changing. These climatic changes have been taking place for 4.6 billion years and are now studied by using satellite–derived and thermometer–based temperature records and trends. However, these methods only allow scientists to study the global climate as far back as the 17th and 18th century, just a small fraction of Earth's lifespan. In order to extend our understanding of Earth's climate beyond this instrumental record of just a few centuries, scientists use proxy data, or natural clues that are buried in sediments, coral reefs, tree rings, fossil pollen, and glaciers. Methods such as paleomagnetism, tephrochronolgy, and radiocarbon dating assist in the extended understanding of Earth's changing climate over the course of time. Planet Earth's ... Accessed 31 January 2018. Polar bears are declining in numbers as the sea ice is diminishing. There are fewer than 25,000 polar bears left in the wild, "the population has dropped about 40 percent between 2001 to 2010, from 1,500 to 900 bears." Not only has the number of polar bears decreased, but they have been acting strangely as their surroundings continue to decrease. The different strategies that polar bears are using to survive are what's keeping them alive, according to Becker the polar bears are changing their appetite by eating a species of dolphins that got trapped in the melting ice. Also, the polar bears have started eating snow geese eggs as a backup source of food. In addition, the bears are starting to spend more time on the shores during the summertime instead of hibernating. Lastly, the polar bears are so desperate to eat that they end up eating human food and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Hassol, these climate changes are being experienced especially intense in the Arctic, "Arctic average temperature has risen at almost twice the rate as the rest of the world in the past few decades" (8). These trends aren't stopping anytime soon. The ongoing increases in concentrations of greenhouse gases in the earth's atmosphere are causing an acceleration in these climate trends according to Hassol. Climate change is going to have major impacts on the earth, for example the sea ice melting. Hassol talks about how this could be seen either positive or negative. For the creatures in the Arctic like the seals and polar bears, the sea ice melting is very harmful to them. However, the reduced sea ice could increase marine access for shipping and offshore oil extraction. However, an increase in those activities would just further complicate the ...
