3. -Words that modifies nouns
or pronouns. These are
descriptive words.
-a word or phrase naming an

to modify or describe it.
4.
5. Rule #1: Adjectives modify
nouns; adverbs modify verbs,
adjectives, and other adverbs.
Example:
Richard is careless.
6. Rule #2: An adjective always
follows a form of the verb to
be when it modifies the noun
before the verb.
Example:
They tried to be helpful.
7. Rule #3: Likewise an adjective
always follows a sense verb or a
verb of appearance — feel,
taste, smell, sound, look,
appear, and seem — when it
modifies the noun before the
verb.
Example:
Sharon's cough sounds bad.
8.
9. Adjectives that tell about a
quality.
Among the different kinds of
adjectives, descriptive adjectives
are probably the most common ones.
They simply say something about
the quality or the kind of the noun
or pronoun they’re referring to.
10. o Erika is witty.
o She is tired.
o Adrian’s reflexes
are amazing.
11. As the name suggests, this

only a single person, place, or
thing.
Examples:

22. “Comparing something to someone
else”
When you are comparing two
persons, places, or things.
Normally, you will need to add “-
er” to transform the word into its
comparative form or add the word
“more.” Also, the word “than”
should be added after the
adjective in the comparative
23. Examples:
This swimming pool is
bigger than that one.
Ashley is more
intelligent than Aldrin.
Note: For words ending in “y,”
you should first change the “y”
into “i” and then add “-er.”
24. It means “of the highest degree.”
When you are comparing more than
two things, the superlative form of
the adjectives should be used and the
word “the” should be added before the
adjective. In order to transform the
adjective into its superlative form, you
just have to add the suffix “-est” or
the word “most.”
25. Note: For words ending in “y,”
you should first change the “y”
into “i” and then add “-est.”
Examples:
That is by far, the tallest
tree I have ever seen in my
entire life.
This is the most crucial
match of the season.
26. This is the order you should generally
follow:
Determiner opinion
