I am writing to apply for the Dresser position currently available at Arley Hall for their dance show next month. I
believe that you should choose me for this job role because, I am well-organised, enthusiastic, friendly, and keep well
to timing.I handle pressure well so I will be able to handle the pressure of quick changes in the dressing room and
backstage. During this letter of application I will expand upon these points. I used to be an actor myself in GCSE so I
know first-hand what quick changes are like, I know how stressful it can be and how fast paced it can be. I believe
having this first-hand experience helps me be a better dresser because I know how it is for the performers and will do
anything to help them but keep calm in this situation.
This job application asked for a few requirements I would like to point out how I can achieve them.

Any experience back stage. – I am currently studying level three BTEC Production Arts, this mainly consists
of backstage work just like hair/makeup and dressers, during the winter showcase I took part in calling the
actors on the correct time, and I also took part in quick changes helping the actors get ready for their next
act. Obviously the performer needs more than clothes… they may need props, which I will always know the
where about of these props, when they are needed and get them the performers at the correct time. This
became very stressful and highly pressured but I kept my cool and every act was on stage at the right time
in the correct costume looking brilliant… no faults with their costume.
Well-organised and good at controlling time. - I believe I am well-organised as I can control a team of stage
crew as I was Assistant Stage Manager during the last college performance. This role consists of controlling
your team ensuring they change the sets at the correct time and in the correct place. As an ASM (Assistant
Stage Manager) you have to listen to anything the Stage Manager has to say and ensure your team
receives any message given to me.
As a dresser I prefer to know script or what is going on so I can learn when and where the costume changes
are needed and how much time I have to get the performers changed. This proves my time-management
which I believe is vital as a dresser.
Another requirement was being flexible and helpful. If I have time I will always try to help out with any extra
jobs. But I will always finish my work first and then ask if my assistance is needed anywhere else. I always
give 110% and always willing to help anyone else.
