1. In what ways does your product use,
develop or challenge forms and conventions
of real media products?
2. Top of the pops is currently one of the biggest selling most popular pop
magazines that is currently on the market, i have gained inspiration from top of
the pops by purchasing issues and looking at them online. I was influenced by the
magazine above by the bold pink masthead, i felt that it worked well because it is
a girly colour and stands out on a shelf which would draw my target audience into
buying it. The use of the bold headline and the bold colour that is used works
well because it will stand out to the target audience.
3. We love pop magazine is also currently one of the most popular selling pop
magazines in the industry. I have gained inspiration from we love pop as well as
top of the pops. I have gained inspiration from the we love pop contents page in
many different areas, firstly I liked the idea of the large numbers on a main
image in order for it to stand out and so that it is seen first, it makes it stand out
and makes it much easier to know what page the main story is on. Secondly,
‘inside this month…’ has given me inspiration in comparison to my ‘on the
front…’ the ellipses create a suspension and keeps the readers on edge therefore
I used this convention.
4. Above is an example of a top of the pops double page spread article which I
gained inspiration from. I have gained inspiration from the idea of having a full
body shot photo on one side of the double page spread to show more about the
artist and more of an image of her. I have also used the idea of having a different
shot of the same artist embedded in the article
