Analytical Thinkers In The Marshmallow Tower Power
I have learned that I am a very Task–Oriented person in a group. I like working with people who
focus on task at hand rather than following boring steps. Also, I accel at focusing on the end result
and not about the process of the project. My inference is that people who are more task–oriented are
more innovative than people who follow steps in my opinion. For example, in my engineering class,
this school year, my group had many projects. Even though the projects had many requirements,
groups had the choice on how to meet the requirements while doing the project. This type of
learning allows innovation and new ideas to flourish in a group setting. It is important to work on a
team to discuss new ideas and put them into action. Analytical thinkers ... Show more content on

It is important to recognize the attributes of your group mates and work together cohesively. This
requires people to work selflessly for their group and volunteer to help anyway they could. I've
learned, working in my group, that having a common goal or task is needed to perform well. My
group had many miscommunications about building the tower. Although our critical thinking
involving the strengths and weaknesses of the task were great we were not good at putting them into
action. Likewise some people worked with weren't as creative. They followed the notions of the
group and contributed to completing the task. Although my group did not finish the tower we
created many ideas but couldn't put them together. A Group settings allows people from multiple
points of view share their ideas and complete a task faster than working in pairs. In terms, putting
more heads together on a project increases the capacity to solve complex issues in a

Group Reflection
During my last five weeks I've learned that groups are not an individual effort. My thinking has
slightly changed in the sense that I believe that teams are needed in order for more change to be
accomplished in the world around us. I used to think that a lot of things could be done individually.
In order for a group to be a success there has to be not only a group of committed team members but
also an organized team leader. This leader must be approachable, friendly, and able to communicate
both verbally and nonverbally. The members make up a large component of the group, too. The
members must be committed, have skills, and be accountable, trustworthy, supportive, talented, and
knowledgeable. I'm surprised to learn during this course that a leader must also be a nurturer of a
team. Relationships must be formed and nurtured in order for a team and or group to be formed and
well maintained. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/wikipedia) Relationships must be formed within the
group and outside the group in order to achieve the common goal. I've learned that the common goal
must be agreed upon by all members and not solely by one member. Because of the module I have
enhanced my knowledge of team relationships and have enjoyed increasing my understanding and
purpose of creating establishment of teams and or groups.

Small People As A Small Group
Most people probably have the same basic definition for the term "small group." That definition
being a group of people comprising of three or more members. As for the maximum capacity that a
small group holds, that all depends on the group itself. As long as everybody in the group has their
voice heard, then the group can be as large as it wants. However, I would put a cap on the group
capacity at around twenty individuals. Any number exceeding twenty people would no longer
qualify the group as a small group. In regards to my current skill level in small groups, I find myself
on both ends of the spectrum at times. I'm either gung–ho and doing all the work, or I'm that kid that
lets others carry him to glory (glory in this case refers to an "A" on the assignment). I'm never the
in–between kid who just does his part. When I'm comfortable in my small group and I know the
people is when I go above and beyond. When my small group is comprised of people I don't know
that is usually when I sit back and don't do anything. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I was one
of those few people who actually gets fired from their small group in this class because I don't know
anyone, and as I said earlier, I don't do well around people I'm not comfortable with. I'm hoping this
doesn't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. Hopefully, as the semester progresses, I
will get to know my small group better and be comfortable around them. I have some experience

A Pocket Guide For Public Speaking By Dan O ' Hair, Hannah...
Working in small groups is either welcomed with excitement by individuals or dreaded with
apprehension. However, group work is a fact of life. Whether in a classroom setting or workforce
collaborating within small groups are experiences many will interact at some point or regularly
participate in. According to the 2010 third edition of the book A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking by
Dan O'Hair, Hannah Rubenstein, and Rob Stewart, small groups can be defined as "a collection of
between three and twenty people" (321). Small groups, though, are interesting in that while a small
collection of people communication role is imperative to the success of the group, but also
demonstrates individual's behaviors when interacting. During small groups, they way in which the
member communicates with each other illustrates how individuals perform by taking on specific
roles as well as exposing their leadership style. During participation in group work, there is a set of
expectations individuals hold for themselves as well as members of the group. Individuals will
subconsciously take on a specific role as to how they will help the group achieve their goal, whether
that be cohesively or disconnected. Subsequently, the recognition of these acquired roles provides an
insight into the individual's corresponding leadership style. Depending on roles and leaderships style
group work can be a consistency of either individual challenging or complimenting one another.

Leadership and Groups: FMC Green River Essay
Leadership and Groups: FMC Green River
Background
FMC is and has been a successful company for the last fifty–six years. First originated in 1948 and
produced 1.3 million tons of various grades of soda ash a year.
The success of the first business brought about a second refining plant in 1953, which was
completed in 1970.
FMC Aberdeen, located in South Dakota with a population of 30,000 is also a successful subsidy of
FMC. FMC Aberdeen employs one hundred people, produces one product, which is a missile
canister for the U.S. Navy.

At Aberdeen while forming these small groups, the groups themselves have the ability to choose
their leader and also, decide on how long they want a specific person to lead that group. The groups
also have a unique ability to work within their groups on work schedules. If a person needs some
time off, the flexibility of the group will allow it. One important aspect of the groups at Aberdeen is
the ability for the groups to counsel others in either a positive or negative situation. Social loafing is
practically non existent due to the rotating of team leaders and responsibility placed on each
individual of a group. The family like atmosphere at Aberdeen naturally creates a strong group
cohesiveness, which is very effective and creates a positive working environment. At Aberdeen,
with only 100 employees the need for virtual teams via internal communication networks such as
email or net meetings is impractical and could create slow downs in their processes. The overall
work group and team structure at Aberdeen minimizes the process losses due to poor coordination
and motivational problems. The end result is a great atmosphere to work and solve processes to
produce a quality product.
Clear leadership at Aberdeen with the exception of the CEO could be a little difficult to grasp on
whom is in charge. Within the groups, the positive input from each member and close working
relationships have almost made it possible to do away with leaders. It appears at

Hearing Concepts Of Group Dynamics Essay
Within Group Dynamics, there are many factors that goes into structured group, and as an observer I
feel this was a very rewarding experience. I feel that hearing concepts of group dynamics, and then
seeing the concepts in action expands an individual's knowledge on the subject. Seeing the
leadership's skill and the processes of a facilitator can influence aspiring facilitators, and give them
the experience they need. For my structured group, I decided to go to Greenleaf, and observe an
adolescent depression group. This was most definitely a treatment group, because its main focus was
looking at meeting the participant's goals, which was to decrease depressive thoughts and behaviors.
This therapeutic group worked as an inpatient facility, and I think this is different from most other
treatment groups. It's different, because it was dealing with adolescents struggling with depression,
and had an indefinite stay at Greenleaf. There are many factors and concepts from our class present
in this treatment group. One of the first concepts that I found in this group was its group work
values. Many of the participants found a positive value from coming to the group. This makes
handling groups easier, because it causes less stress on the facilitator to keep control of derailers and
whiners. Another group value that I saw was that cooperation and democracy. I feel like this ideal
was embodied in each group member, because from my perception they felt as though they had

My Philosophy Of Small Groups Essay
Introduction Over the years, many models have been developed and implemented to endeavor to
make disciples. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the
most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups
models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church's goal,
missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a church
and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain how
missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will
summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional
with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is
scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and
breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart." As
the original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the
church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two–fold approach of meeting in large–
group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small–group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly
shows the church gathering in homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry.
Effective ministry is connecting with both God

We did our facilitation about rice commodity in three different countries and I must say, it was good
working with my team members. Rice production is one of the most important aspects to the food
supply of different countries, I chose China and because China was the number one rice producing
country, I thought this was really interesting. Working together in a group is not always fun, but with
the right people working with you, it will be easy. My team members for this facilitation were great,
which made me enjoy working with them. As soon as we knew who was in the group, we decided to
exchange contact information like emails and made a Google doc to share the ideas. But the
weakness would be due to the different schedules because we all came up with the idea on the
internet and we only met once before the class time on facilitation day. Also, one thing that we could
improve from the peer feedback was that we were not that cooperative, and we had too much
information. I think that is because we only decided to work together to come up with the format of
the facilitation and who should do what. There was not a group leader per–se.
However, the strength part was that we had 4 members in the group and each and every one had
their roles and understood what needed to be done in order to accomplish our goal. From our slides,
materials, and countries research for rice, each member was assigned a role. We had the PowerPoint
maker, and research for individuals for China, Japan, and

Northouse (2012a) to understand my current leadership qualities. A summary of my leadership style,
questionnaire results, and a self–reflection on the identified leadership qualities and developments is
provided below.
My Leadership Style As a leader, I am organized and provide a lot of support to other group

that that member and I believe will uniquely contribute to the group, goals, specific tasks, deadlines,
hours to complete, and completion rates that are updated every week. This database is accessible to
all members at any time and is revisited and updated during every group meeting. I believe that
knowing the arrangement of the group and status of tasks is crucial to being successful as a group.
Additionally, by staying organized and providing guidance and motivation to the group, I hope to
prevent members from procrastinating, submitting suboptimal work products, or loosing focus.
Leadership Profile Instruments Below is a summary of completed questionnaire results from a total
of eight chapters in Introduction to Leadership (Northouse, 2012a). Two chapter questionnaires and
reflection and action worksheets from each of the four modules in this course were completed. Note
that the questionnaires and reflection and action worksheets were completed in the 2nd edition of

Importance Of Group Work
As employees become more competitive, recently graduated students not only have the
qualifications, but also have good teamwork skills. Working in a group is very common in high
education. Also, not only in university, that skill will very useful in the work place. Group work can
make the work to be higher efficiency and develop another skill. In this essay will discuss the
benefits of group work and how important is it. Secondly, it will move on to look at the obstacles
and challenges in group work. Finally, it will argue that the factors that affect the success of
groupwork and what skill can develop in group work.
Group working is an essential skill in university because it is beneficial to understand the work and
complete it better. The main point is working in a group always can get more information than
working individual. When students working individual, they are always cannot get more ideals or
difficult to develop the ideal, the reason of that could be some people may be not enough knowledge
about the topic. This cause is very obvious in engineering students because they always get a project
that is need to think on the difference way to get the solutions. Burke (2011 :88) also states in his
Journal that working in group can get more information because the group member who from
difference countries and culture backgrounds also they have difference experience of the topic,
therefore the students are available to get more information than a single individual. So,

Disadvantages Of Grameen Bank Model
In terms of Models, MFIs can be classified as lenders to groups or as lenders to individuals. In India,
MFIs usually adopt the group based lending models, which are of two types:
(i) The self–help group (SHG) model and
(ii) (ii) The joint liability group (JLG) model.
Under the SHG model, MFI lends the loans to a group of 10 – 20 women as a whole. Under the
SHG – bank linkage model, an NGO promotes a group and gets banks to extend loans to the group.
Under the joint liability models, loans are extended to, and recovered from, each member of the
group. The most popular JLG models are Grameen Bank model and the Activist for Social
Alternatives (ASA) model. Most of the leading MFIs in India follow a hybrid of the group models.

quarters before demonetization and two after demonetization.
My examination uncovers serious negative effects of demonetisation. The year–on–year
development of number of customers connected enrolled an abatement of 2% over the past quarter
(pre–demonetisation period). The credit sum dispensed the three months finished 30 December 2016
diminished by 16% from a year sooner. The aggregate number of credits dispensed fell by 26% in
the quarter finished 30 December 2016 from the first three months. The normal advance sum
dispensed per account amid the quarter remained at Rs20,981, lower than that in the former quarter
(Rs21,469). In FY16–17, the normal advance sum dispensed per account additionally decreased to
Rs17,779 from Rs17,812 in the earlier year. These patterns recommend that the MFIs enlisted a
decrease in the quantity of customers, add up to credits dispensed, and normal advance dispensed

Reflection On Group Therapy Reaction
Group Therapy Reaction
Thus far in the program I have had the opportunity to experience the process of group therapy.
Luckily, I have had the opportunity to run group sessions at my practicum site, so I have gained
substantial information about the group process. As I have learned in this program, group therapy is
a powerful form of therapy that allows group members to complete their therapeutic goals in a group
setting. As a therapist, I believe it is essential to experience what group process is like. For this class
assignment we were required to record a video session of a group session demonstrating skills
discussed by Yalom in our required text. This paper will serve the purpose to explore my reaction of
the experience of leading the group, reflections on the Yalom skills I incorporated, and my views on
the strengths I displayed as a leader. In addition, I will explore ways I can improve as a group leader.
From this assignment, my hope is to complete a session with tenants of Yalom, and make
improvements to my therapeutic style.
Reaction
Prior to starting the assignment, I was extremely confident in running groups because at my
practicum site I ran two education groups and one process group each day I was at my site. Going
into the assignment, I had an idea which direction I wanted to go in for the video. Being that I do not

Making Small Groups Work By Henry Cloud And John Townsend
Making Small Groups Work by Henry Cloud and John Townsend is a book on how to make small
groups work. This, not an average small group book it really tells you has a leader how to make it
work. With the two authors being psychologists it more of how people react in groups and setting
that make this book so different. They provide leader of small groups with valuable leadership and
information on how to help their groups to grow in three spiritually, emotionally and relationally.
Helping people understand why they need to be in small groups is a problem that every church goes
through. Reading is this book helps you understand people's mindset and why they need small
groups.
The book is broken down into six different parts. The first part titled How Small Groups Help
People Grow. When people understand they need small groups and in addition to needing to be
around people it can help them grow. The authors speak about how people are conditioned to be
around others. It's a psychological fact that people need companionship from others. Knowing this
information and using it can help a church and leaders show members why they need to around
others. Also, include in this section of the book talks about what are we as small group leaders trying
to do. Leaders need to have a clear focus for their group's mission. I think each small group should
include a description of what the group 's mission is. For example, if it's a new member group a

Helpful Tips in the New Position After working in this position for a while working in groups and

The five stages of developing groups is an important part of the position. In many cases it is the
relationships that a person will have with other individuals who will determine the best members to
put into the different groups. As well, the different skill sets that individuals have are also an
important part in placing group members together. The observation of the first groups placed
together will be a good gauge in learning how some of the individuals work and observing how
others work well together. The group size should be eight to 10 people to facilitate greater ease of
equal participation among the individuals. Barriers that Exist in Group Communications Next, the
barriers that exist in group communication are premature evaluation of ideas, poor physical
surroundings, too many people, poor timing, and stinking thinking. The different ideas made from
the group need an evaluation at a certain time; this is done only after all the ideas have been made
from the group. Poor physical surroundings can be a problem for group disruption in
communication. In some cases the room could be too hot, too cold, too noisy, not adequate enough
seating and lack of technological needs for the group to function. If the group is too large then the
communication can be lost and equal participation will not occur (Beebe &Masterson, 2006).
Poor timing also can be a hindrance to the group by not

The Theory Of Algebraic Semi Rings
ON BORNOLOGICAL SEMI RINGS
ANWAR N. IMRAN
Abstract. Our main focus in this work is to generalizes the theory of algebraic semi ring from the
algebraic setting to the framework of bornological set. More specifically, the concept of new
structure bornological semi ring BSR is introduced and the fundamental constructions in the class of
bornological semi rings are discussed. In particular, the existence of arbitrary projective limits and
arbitrary inductive limits of bornological semi ring is ensured. Additionally, the description of the
category of bornological semi rings is presented and we study the product, coproduct and fiber
product. Key words: Bornological Set, Bornological Ring.
1. Introduction
The notion of a bounded subset of (real or complex) topological vector space was introduces by von
Neamann. That motivated the definition and more general classes bounded sets and called
bornologies. A bornological space is a type of space in functional analysis and it is very useful to
solve problem of boundedness for set of elements and functions. That means, the main goal for
bornology is to determine the boundedness, location and sitting the boundary for any area. A
bornology on a set X is a family β of subsets of X, such that;
Every singleton set fxg is in β, that means, β covering X ;
If A ⊂ B, B 2 β then A 2 β;
β is stable under finite union.
The elements of β are called bounded subsets of X. Let X and Y be two bornological sets, a map f :
X ! Y is called bounded if

Collaboration in My Home Group
My Contribution Paper Collaboration consists of a few fundamental components such as the
willingness to listen and learn from each other, sharing one's own ideas and perspectives, having
respect for each other, working together to achieve a common goal, and being responsible for the
self and the whole group. A group has to collaborate in order to deliberate and achieve their common
goal because the three phases of deliberation: information gathering, decision–making, and
reflection, all refer back to the ability to collaborate with each other. While working in a group,
group members should always work toward the goal of becoming a good leader, "a person who
makes the groups she or he works in better" (Practice Deliberation as Citizenship, Gene Edgar) by
being a responsible and respectful group member, and also being someone who is willing to go the
extra miles to make sure everyone in the group is feeling comfortable presenting their ideas in the
group. While working in my Home group this quarter, we have came up with a few norms, such as
do not interrupt when someone else is talking, be accepting of everyone's opinion, debate ideas not

A Community Support Group Meeting At New Horizon Church Of...
On Friday, June 5th, Megan Crews and I attended a community support group meeting at New
Horizon Church of Christ. This meeting was a for teens and young adults that were experiencing
issues of emotional abuse, substance abuse, sexual abuse, depression, co–dependency, and anything
else that was causing them struggles. The Landing (what this group is called), is a daughter program
of Celebrate Recovery, which has been helping people in different communities for 20 years. This
collection of groups is faith based and helps the whole family, not just the individual experiencing
the problem. It is set up as a fifty–two week program, based on principles that Jesus shared in the
Sermon on the Mount. They use a 12–step program model using Jesus Christ as their focus and not
psychological theory. There are over 20,000 programs in churches around the world. The programs
have also had great success being used in the prison system. Since the beginning of these programs,
many people have found peace and healing from their issues, hurts, and habits. The meeting began
with group leader (who works at NEFSH, and with DCF), had all the members join him in the circle
of chairs in the fellowship hall. Parents and grandparents were allowed to sit in on this part of the
meeting as well. He also introduced us to the group since we were new faces to the church. He
explained why we were there and that no names or personal information would be shared in our
paper, and that we were just observing,

Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis
In Lord of the Flies, a group of teenage boys is faced with the tremendous obstacle of being stranded
on an island after their plane had unfortunately crashed. To make matters worse, the eldest of the
group is only twelve years old. They are now faced with the task of establishing roles for everyone
to ensure that their time on the island went a smooth as possible, and that they were rescued as soon
as possible. By establishing roles amongst the group, not everyone was able to be assigned their
desired role, so naturally some of the boys were upset. This story provided a fairly accurate
depiction of how it could possibly be when establishing a civilization in real life. Fairly shortly after
the boy's plane crashed, everyone was assigned roles, and the voted leader of them all was Ralph.
Ralph was really wise beyond his years, especially in comparison to many of the other boys on the
island, and really had his priorities straight. Ralph's main concern was survival and order amongst
the group, along with that came food and most importantly a signal fire big enough for passing boats
to notice. One major quote from the book showing Ralph's leadership came early on, "They obeyed
the summons of the conch, partly because Ralph blew it, and he was big enough to be a link with the
adult world of authority."(Golding 50) This quote shows how Ralph had authority of the group in
the beginning, and when he spoke they listened. Many of the other boys were more concerned with

Lifepoint Church Research Paper
"Community, we are better together," is something that is constantly being said at the church where I
attend school, Lifepoint Church (Beliefs & Values). This is one of our main values because we
firmly believe that God didn't create us to do life alone. He created us to do life together, to
encourage one another, to go through the struggles together, etc. For this reason we encourage those
who attend our church to become part of a small group. By doing life with others through a small
group you are able to create strong, lasting relationships with others, grow in your faith, and
encourage others.
When you spend two hours with the same group of people every week for a long period of time you
are going to form relationships with them. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can do this by simply being a part of a small group or leading a small group. When you are a
part of a small group you are surrounded with many different people who are each going through
different things. You may be able to encourage at least someone who is a part of your small group.
When I was a part of the high school girls small group at my youth group, I was able to encourage
those who were struggling with things that I struggled with in the past and those who were younger
than me. Through encouraging others, I was actually growing in my faith and relationship with God.
Even if you feel as though you'd be the last person to encourage someone, being in a small group
gives you the ideal opportunity to do so. As you spend time with those in your small group you'll
become more comfortable with them and feel comfortable encouraging them and speaking life into

Evangelism As A Group Of Individuals Based On The Gospel...
When you think of the word evangelism, what is the first thought that comes to mind? I believe that
many Christian's speak loose of this word, or really do not strive to preach the Gospel as the Bible
instructs us to do. This module has taught me a new approach to evangelism in order to be effective
in reaching people with the Gospel through analyzing people group, an area and a strategy for
planning. The term "people group" defines itself, however this module further examines what the
term truly means through the act of analyzing. This term has been described as a group of people
who carry common traits, share the same language, who also can be group together depending on
your yearly income and career, who you are family members with, or who share the exact same
interest as you. This is how certain people are grouped together and are defined as people group. To
order to analyze a people group, you must study the group of individuals based on they are classified
as a group. The purpose of studying a people group is to the individuals by reaching them with the
Gospel, and having the ability to punctuate with them through what you have studied or learned
about their culture in order to be more effective in reaching them with the Gospel. There are
different questions you can ask yourself to become more familiar about each different people group.
God will use certain individuals to reach certain people groups. But the most important, is to seek
God before you begin

Small Group Reflection
In the summer of 2013, I participated in the Calvin College Entrada Scholar program, a four week
intensive program for racial ethnic minority high school students to experience college learning and
living while earning college credit. Creating an international community was a huge theme in this
program, students were not allowed to have their computers, games, nor be on their phones. Another
way that the program encouraged community was with small group devotion with students
floormates and designated floor RA.
I remember one week, the theme within the small groups was sharing "our" narratives. My small
group consisted of a total of nine female students and our RA. Our discussion lasted about 2 hours
that night mainly because our RA established a safe and open environment, she was someone we
loved and trusted within a short time of knowing her.
The small group "narrative" used a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our small group was the definition of people that are often marginalized, minority women. I am not
saying that we were not empowered, being in that group alone after hearing everyone struggles was
empowering. However, after our discussion there was no direction to where to go from there, after
opening up. I personally could not look at others the same way after hearing their stories. A solution
would had been a follow up small group discussion before departing from the program, but with
only small group meetings once a week it is difficult to implement this idea. In addition, I
understand that our RA did not have training in social work, mentoring, or psychology, she was a
Speech Path major. In the small group the most we could do was sympathize with each other, but
not truly lift them up and congratulated them in overcoming their hardships and help them decide

Reading Comprehension Strategy Of Inferring Essay
Making Inferences WHY:
Purpose of Lesson: The purpose of this lesson is to introduce students to the reading comprehension
strategy of inferring. The students will learn how to use textual evidence combined with their own
background knowledge to make inferences about various aspects of a text including characters,
setting, theme, and plot.
Common Core State Standards:
CCSS.ELA–LITERACY.RL.5.1: Quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says
explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text.
Goals/Objectives of Lesson: What do you hope for/expect?
In a small group setting, each student will make at least 3 inferences about various scenarios and
pictures through writing and speaking.
Following a teacher's model, each student will write their own short scenario that will be used for
their classmates to make inferences about.
When reading a selected chapter from the book, Wonder, students will use a graphic organizer to
make at least two written inferences by filling in all three columns of the organizer (what is stated,
what I already know, and my inference).
Extension Activity: Each student will create a short story (either written or verbal) based on their
inferences about a picture that will be provided by the teacher.
Context of the Lesson: Where does this lesson fall in what is currently being taught?
This is the students second week of academics, and this will be their first experience in fifth grade
with making inferences. Up until

The Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies
The conch shell is a major symbol in William Golding's novel, Lord of the Flies. It allows the boys
to remain civilized and keeps them together for the majority of the novel. The novel is about a small
group of boys who are stranded on an island after a plane crash. The boys begin civilized and tame,
but slowly turn to chaos and savagery after Jack, the savage minded leader of the choir boys, and his
hunters leave and create their own group which is run as a fear based tyranny. Items like the conch
are some of the only things that keep the boys from turning to savagery from the very start and
shows a significance throughout the book. The conch first brings peace and order to the boys at the
beginning of the book, eventually loses most of its importance when Jack and the hunters leaves the
group and brings the last bit of civilization and society with it once it is destroyed. The significance
and loss of significance of the conch shell represents the loss of civilization and order in the group
of boys in the novel Lord of the Flies and it loses its significance when law and order is abandoned
by the boys. Once the conch is smashed, all order and civilization left that was on the island is
destroyed with it. The conch first brings order and peace to the boys at the beginning of the novel,
when they are a singular group and are civilized. Ralph uses the conch to bring the boys together for
meetings, uses it to create rules at meetings and uses it to run the boys in a

My Personal Journey With My Group
When this course started, I didn't know what to expect. Quickly did I learn that it was more than just
about a single individual and his or her ideas and behaviours. As the course progressed, I learned
that it was very important to understand how small groups work. Reflecting upon my personal
journey with my group, I have learnt that working in small groups requires commitment, synergy,
communication, listening, conflict resolution and decision making and problem solving. This brings
me upon my personal journey with my small group and how I have learned to work in such an
environment. Our team comprised of four members; Emily, Cileena, Chelsea and I. We were all
delegated with an individual role each term and I was designated team leader for the first term for
our group. I felt at the time that this role did not suit me as I am the type of person who is more on
the shy side. In addition, the course had just begun so I was relatively unsure of how the course was
handled which also affected my ability to serve as the team leader to the best of my capabilities.
During the first term, our team responsibility was the evaluation team. We created a well planned
and carefully executed evaluation rubric to assess each group's performance. The start of this term
was when the phases of group development initiated. The first stage of any group is forming (Harris
and Sherblom, 2010, p. 58). At this time, we were all still getting to know each other and were
uncertain upon one another

Cooperative Learning: The Key Elements Of Cooperative...
Cooperative learning is known as small group learning. It is an instructional strategy in which small
heterogeneous group of learners work together on a common academic goal or task given to them by
teachers. By interacting with one another learners can improve their acquisition of academic
knowledge and skills. Such interaction amongst learners based on equal partnership in the learning
experience, is termed as cooperative learning. With cooperative situations, learners seek outcomes
that are beneficial to themselves as well as to other group members.
Activities involving a small group of learners who work together as a team to solve problem,
complete task, or accomplish a common goal is known as cooperative learning. (Artzt and Newman,
1990) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many researchers like, ShlomoSharan and Yeal, Sharan, Elliot Aronson, Elizabeth Cohen to name
the few, worked on the Cooperative Learning but it was in early 1990s that cooperative learning
gained popularity among the educators and in 1996, First Annual Cooperative Learning Conference
was held at Minneapolis.
1.4. Cooperative learning strategies:
There are many cooperative learning strategies which have been used worldwide for face–to–face
interaction. The most widely used cooperative strategies are as follows.
1) Jigsaw: Jigsaw is a grouping strategy in which the members of the class are organised into
"jigsaw" groups. The students are then reorganised into "expert" groups containing one member
from each jigsaw group. The students in the expert groups are given time to discuss and learn the
material provided them. Later, they have to return to their jigsaw groups to share their learning.
2) Three step interview: In this strategy, after introducing a particular topic in students, there are 3
steps that need to be followed. Each member of a group chooses another member to be a partner. In
the first step, individuals have to interview their partners by asking questions. In the second step, the
partners reverse the roles. In the final third step, members share their partner's response with the

Groupthink: Problem Solving and Groups Essay
Groupthink
The Challenger space shuttle explosion. The Bay of Pigs invasion. The Korean War debacle (Janis
1–28). These are examples of situations where group communication failed. Group communication
involves a shared identity among three or more people, a considerable amount of interaction among
these people, and a high level of interdependence between everyone involved (Trenholm 196–97). It
is essential to understand group dynamics for a variety of reasons. Everyone participates in groups
throughout the course of a lifetime, and these groups are often very goal–oriented. The business
community, non–profit organizations, and town governments all use groups to make decisions.
Sometimes a condition known as Groupthink can occur in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Janis was puzzled by the inability of very intelligent people to make sound decisions. His answer
was a condition he termed Groupthink.
Janis defines Groupthink as a "a quick and easy way to refer to a mode of thinking that people
engage in when they are deeply involved in a cohesive in–group, when the members' strivings for
unanimity override their motivation to realistically appraise alternative courses of action" (Janis 9).
Janis further states that "Groupthink refers to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality testing, and
moral judgment that results from in–group pressures" (Janis 9). Groupthink can lead to bad
judgments and decisions being made. It serves as a simple way to deal with difficult issues.
The symptoms of Groupthink are clear. The "illusion of invulnerability" happens when a group
thinks that they cannot go wrong. Confidence among the members of the group is remarkably high
and is reflected in the decisions that they make (Keil 1). A "belief in inherent morality of the group"
occurs when the group thinks tremendously of their morality. The group believes that it is doing the
right thing in all circumstances. "Collective rationalization" is another symptom of Groupthink.
Groups who experience this believe that nothing can be wrong with their plan even if there is
significant evidence to prove

The Key Objective Of A Great Facilitator
The main objective of a great facilitator is to development a team that is cohesive and cooperative,
producing results that make the group the most effective and efficient unit possible. However, this is
not always the case. Building a team that flourishes in any situation can be a daunting endeavor.
Many individuals unknowingly lack the skills necessary to be a great facilitator. Roger Schwarz
(2002), has created nine ground rules for honing a more effective group. When these nine ground
rules are applied and executed by a team, any facilitator will be able to produce a more effective and
efficient group. Furthermore, "by becoming familiar with the ground rules, you can watch a group
and identify specifically what is happening that is enhancing or hindering the group's process"
(Schwarz, 2002 p. 96). Schwarz's (2002), nine ground rules are as followed respectively, "test
assumptions and inferences, share all relevant information, use specific examples and agree on what
important words mean, explain your reasoning and intent, focus on interests, not positions, combine
advocacy and inquiry, jointly design next steps and ways to test disagreements, discuss
undiscussable issues, and us a decision–making rule that generates the level of commitment needed"
(p. 97).
Purpose and Nature of Group
"For a group to optimize its effectiveness, the formal leader cannot perform all of the leadership
functions in all circumstances at all times, and all group members must assist each

Final Report Real Time Interactive Group Project
Final Report Real Time Interactive group project
Introduction
For this report the process of creating the game Chased by Snakes as a member of Danger Noodle
will be discussed.
Methodology
For this project it was decided by the group to use a flat management structure, and to follow a
system akin to free development. This method meant that none of the group was the project manager
and instead the thing keeping people on track was their self–motivation to complete the project. To
aid with completing the project at the start of the project a list of work was set out from the
requirements, and then each member of the group picked the tasks that they could complete for the
year. The main reason such a free and unstructured ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another problem is that this method requires everyone to have high motivation if they want to
complete the project to a high standard and a as the group is small a few unmotivated people can
bring the whole project down. The group did have motivation problems during the middle of the
project with some group members not producing any work. The motivation could have been reduced
if the work been assigned one at a time instead of all at the start allowing people to focus on one
thing at a time and seeing the list of work get smaller.
A problem with using this flat management with free development is that there are not a lot of
examples to follow with many companies using agile. It seems that this flat management is new to
the games industry and so the group might make some mistakes that others can learn from in the
future who want to use the same structure. There are however some companies that do, valve uses a
flat management structure and so does Chucklefish games (Bithell , Sliwinski, & Orlowski , 2016)
(18:25–19:00). At Chucklefish the flat management works well as there is a small team of people
who are all self–motivated to complete the parts of the game they are working on. As we were

Niels Abel Research Paper
Niels Abel and some of his work Many innovational mathematicians come and go, but only a few
remembered for their great accomplishments. Niels Henrik Abel is one of the greatest
mathematicians that have influenced modern mathematics, solving and creating theorems, like the
Abelian–Ruffini theorem and Abel's theorem, and formulas/equations, like the abel equation, Abel's
inequality. He started discovering and creating these at a young age. Niels Abel was born in Norway,
in a neighborhood parish, to Georg Abel, who was a pastor with a degree in theology and
philosophy, and Anne Marie Simonsen, a daughter to a wealthy merchant. Abel was homeschooled
by his father and was giving hand written books to study from. When Norway gained its
independence, Georg Abel was elected to the Norwegian legislature, also known as the Storting, and
George decided to send one of his sons to the cathedral school, at which Georg worked. The
following year he sent his eldest son to the school. this was the first time Niels ever went to school.
Niels started cathedral school at age 13 and was shared rooms and classes with older brothers.
compared to his older brother, Niels didn't seem to be a prodigy because his brothers grades were far
better than his own. Only when a new teacher, Bernt Holmboe, started at the school, did Niels begin
to take interests in math and caught the attention of the new math teacher. Bernt began to give Niels

The Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies
According to the merriam–webster dictionary, the definition of symbolism; artistic imitation or
invention that is a method of revealing or suggesting immaterial, ideal, or otherwise intangible truth
or states. In the book the Lord of the flies, various things are used as symbols to show a truth or
some type of relationship. One of the biggest symbolic things in the book was the conch shell. The
conch shell was originally founded on a waves upwash during the very first stages of the book. Just
like items had a certain meaning, color had symbolic meanings as well. The color of the shell was
creamy white which symbolizes; purity, innocence, fairness, and honor. The conch shell in Lord of
the Flies begins as a symbol for authority, later on it becomes disconnected between the boys, and
concludes as being ignored and basically destroyed. As the boys are stranded on the deserted island,
in order to survive they copy civilization just like back in England. Authority such as rules and a
head chief was much needed. In their quest of the finding such similarities, they come across the
conch shell–creamy white– by the ocean. The group of boys take it as a symbol of authority inside
the group. Ralph, the main character and the boy who originally found the conch blew it to assemble
the group of boys. Minutes go by and Ralph is picked due to the fact that the conch is in his
possession. The group of boys used meetings as a way to talk about problems. In fact, the process of

Democracy In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
Loud, boisterous chanting raged all around Simon. Jack and the others surrounded Simon and
started biting, spitting, brutally murdering Simon. Suddenly, the boys stopped and resumed eating
the sow, leaving Simon to lay on the beach, dead, surrounded by his own blood. In Lord of the Flies
by William Golding, a group of British schoolboys are trapped on an uninhabited island after flying
on a plane that later crashed. In the beginning, the boys held civilization, the hope of rescue, and
democracy to the highest esteem. By the middle, the boys, especially Jack, no longer respected the
democracy. They savagely stole glasses and, with face paint on, murdered Simon. By the end of the
book, Jack's dictatorship reigned supreme as his tribe launched a boulder at Piggy, killing him, and
burned down the island, just to kill Ralph.
The conch was a symbol of the democracy and order. In the beginning of Lord of the Flies, the
conch was pink and strong and so were the democracy and order. The democracy started when the
group voted Ralph as the leader when he was holding the beautiful cream colored conch. The conch
helped dictate who spoke, like when the "littleun" with the mulberry birthmark on his face was able
to talk and not be interrupted by the older boys. This shows the order and democracy in the group.
This showed no evil, only peace, and democracy. By the middle of the novel, the conch became
faded and fragile, and so did with the democracy and order. The conch changed from a

The Progression Of Abstract Algebra
Math 559
IDEALS IN RINGS by Naira Arakelyan
1. Introduction
The progression of abstract algebra has come to be due to problems which were deemed to be
unsolvable through classical methods, as well as discoveries from past mathematicians. Firstly, these
problems had been associated with the theory of algebraic equations by the closing of the 19th
century. Significant topics of abstract algebra would consist of Diophantine equations, as well as
arithmetical investigations of higher and quadratic degree forms which had contributed to the
concept of notions of a ring and ideal. It is important to know that a ring is generally the setting in
which integer arithmetic is generalized, hence it being a stepping stone for the advancement of
commutative ring theory. It is also important to know that ring theory can be used to comprehend
the fundamental laws of physics, including basic special relativity as well as symmetry phenomena
in molecular chemistry. The attempts created to solve Fermat 's Last Theorem also advanced the
path for generalizing integer arithmetic, and developed the concept of a ring. In Fermat's Last
Theorem, it is stated:
The equation xn+ yn= zn has no solution for positive integers, x, y, z when n > 2.
Fermat wrote "I have discovered a truly remarkable proof which this margin is too small to contain."
(Diophantus 's Arithmetica)
One attempt to prove Fermat's Last Theorem had been in the year 1753, when Euler had brought
forward a novel set of integers which

Should A Motorcycle Be An Outlaw That Is The Question
To Be or Not To Be an Outlaw That Is the Question As a result of many years of growing up around
fast cars and motorcycles, I became very interested in learning how to ride a motorcycle. Of course,
once I was old enough to learn to ride my parents feared the idea of their oldest child being on a
bike because of the risk of being hurt or even at the worst case of death. But, that never changed my
mind on getting a motorcycle. So once I saved for several years. The day had finally come; I was so
excited I could not wait to purchase a motorcycle. So my husband and I went to go look at a
gorgeous 2007 GSXR 600; in which I purchased. After, about a year of riding the bike my husband

The first type of signal that is used to indicate that someone sees a cop is to pat the top of their head;
anytime someone sees a cop they will do this to warn others in the group. A second type of signal is
the hand signals to show the people riding in the group on if they are turning left or right. The hand
sign for turning left is to hold your left arm straight out and the signal for turning right is extend the
left upper–arm out to the left horizontally and angle your forearm vertically. The hand signs for left
and right are almost always done when the patch member has a passenger. In addition the rider will
also use his or her turn signals on the bike. The reason for the extra signals are to ensure others on
the road can see what the members on the motorcycles are intending to do. I learned the values and
norms of the MC world. As a patch member the club is a second family. The members in the group
are your brothers and sisters. In addition to them being your family respect is a big deal when being
in the club. Respect is earned and not giving to anyone. Also in an MC there are guidelines for how
the group is supposed to ride. In the MC world the club will either ride two bikes side by side or in a
stagger style. The reason for having a certain way to ride is for the safety of the people in the group.
The stagger style is more known in the motorcycle club that

The Importance of an Efficient Group Work Activity
INTRODUCTION This study provided an opportunity to indicate the importance of the efficient
group work activities. The reason of selecting this subject is depending on my observations in İstek
Semiha Şakir High School. From my observations, there are several problems in classroom
environment; however, inefficient group work activities are one of the most common problem in
classes during my observations. It is so crucial problem, as it is accepted that group work helps
students to enhance speaking skill by working together and communicating with each other. Group
work and pair work is a class management strategy and the teachers' role is facilitator. This role in
group work is very difficult and very important. These reasons makes using group work activities so
significant. "Groups often come up with more and better solutions than the individual." (Barbara
Gross Davis, "Tools for Teaching", 197.) In spite of its importance, the teachers avoid from using
group work techniques, so there should be rational reasons for avoidance of using group work. The
most common idea in the paper is that the importance of the group work techniques, why teachers
avoid using group work activities, and what the students' opinion about the group work activities. A
second objective in writing the paper is to help readers understand how different types of group
work techniques. The importance of the group work techniques is obviously clear, but how can we
solve the problems? Depending on my

Analytical Thinkers In The Marshmallow Tower Power

  • 1. Analytical Thinkers In The Marshmallow Tower Power I have learned that I am a very Task–Oriented person in a group. I like working with people who focus on task at hand rather than following boring steps. Also, I accel at focusing on the end result and not about the process of the project. My inference is that people who are more task–oriented are more innovative than people who follow steps in my opinion. For example, in my engineering class, this school year, my group had many projects. Even though the projects had many requirements, groups had the choice on how to meet the requirements while doing the project. This type of learning allows innovation and new ideas to flourish in a group setting. It is important to work on a team to discuss new ideas and put them into action. Analytical thinkers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is important to recognize the attributes of your group mates and work together cohesively. This requires people to work selflessly for their group and volunteer to help anyway they could. I've learned, working in my group, that having a common goal or task is needed to perform well. My group had many miscommunications about building the tower. Although our critical thinking involving the strengths and weaknesses of the task were great we were not good at putting them into action. Likewise some people worked with weren't as creative. They followed the notions of the group and contributed to completing the task. Although my group did not finish the tower we created many ideas but couldn't put them together. A Group settings allows people from multiple points of view share their ideas and complete a task faster than working in pairs. • 5. Group Reflection During my last five weeks I've learned that groups are not an individual effort. My thinking has slightly changed in the sense that I believe that teams are needed in order for more change to be accomplished in the world around us. I used to think that a lot of things could be done individually. In order for a group to be a success there has to be not only a group of committed team members but also an organized team leader. This leader must be approachable, friendly, and able to communicate both verbally and nonverbally. The members make up a large component of the group, too. The members must be committed, have skills, and be accountable, trustworthy, supportive, talented, and knowledgeable. I'm surprised to learn during this course that a leader must also be a nurturer of a team. Relationships must be formed and nurtured in order for a team and or group to be formed and well maintained. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/wikipedia) Relationships must be formed within the group and outside the group in order to achieve the common goal. I've learned that the common goal must be agreed upon by all members and not solely by one member. Because of the module I have enhanced my knowledge of team relationships and have enjoyed increasing my understanding and purpose of creating establishment of teams and or groups. • 7. Small People As A Small Group Most people probably have the same basic definition for the term "small group." That definition being a group of people comprising of three or more members. As for the maximum capacity that a small group holds, that all depends on the group itself. As long as everybody in the group has their voice heard, then the group can be as large as it wants. However, I would put a cap on the group capacity at around twenty individuals. Any number exceeding twenty people would no longer qualify the group as a small group. In regards to my current skill level in small groups, I find myself on both ends of the spectrum at times. I'm either gung–ho and doing all the work, or I'm that kid that lets others carry him to glory (glory in this case refers to an "A" on the assignment). I'm never the in–between kid who just does his part. When I'm comfortable in my small group and I know the people is when I go above and beyond. When my small group is comprised of people I don't know that is usually when I sit back and don't do anything. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if I was one of those few people who actually gets fired from their small group in this class because I don't know anyone, and as I said earlier, I don't do well around people I'm not comfortable with. I'm hoping this doesn't happen, but I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. Hopefully, as the semester progresses, I will get to know my small group better and be comfortable around them. I have some experience working in small ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. A Pocket Guide For Public Speaking By Dan O ' Hair, Hannah... Working in small groups is either welcomed with excitement by individuals or dreaded with apprehension. However, group work is a fact of life. Whether in a classroom setting or workforce collaborating within small groups are experiences many will interact at some point or regularly participate in. According to the 2010 third edition of the book A Pocket Guide to Public Speaking by Dan O'Hair, Hannah Rubenstein, and Rob Stewart, small groups can be defined as "a collection of between three and twenty people" (321). Small groups, though, are interesting in that while a small collection of people communication role is imperative to the success of the group, but also demonstrates individual's behaviors when interacting. During small groups, they way in which the member communicates with each other illustrates how individuals perform by taking on specific roles as well as exposing their leadership style. During participation in group work, there is a set of expectations individuals hold for themselves as well as members of the group. Individuals will subconsciously take on a specific role as to how they will help the group achieve their goal, whether that be cohesively or disconnected. Subsequently, the recognition of these acquired roles provides an insight into the individual's corresponding leadership style. Depending on roles and leaderships style group work can be a consistency of either individual challenging or complimenting one another. I was lucky enough to partake in a ... First originated in 1948 and produced 1.3 million tons of various grades of soda ash a year. The success of the first business brought about a second refining plant in 1953, which was completed in 1970. FMC Aberdeen, located in South Dakota with a population of 30,000 is also a successful subsidy of FMC. FMC Aberdeen employs one hundred people, produces one product, which is a missile canister for the U.S. Navy. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At Aberdeen while forming these small groups, the groups themselves have the ability to choose their leader and also, decide on how long they want a specific person to lead that group. The groups also have a unique ability to work within their groups on work schedules. If a person needs some time off, the flexibility of the group will allow it. One important aspect of the groups at Aberdeen is the ability for the groups to counsel others in either a positive or negative situation. Social loafing is practically non existent due to the rotating of team leaders and responsibility placed on each individual of a group. The family like atmosphere at Aberdeen naturally creates a strong group cohesiveness, which is very effective and creates a positive working environment. At Aberdeen, with only 100 employees the need for virtual teams via internal communication networks such as email or net meetings is impractical and could create slow downs in their processes. The overall work group and team structure at Aberdeen minimizes the process losses due to poor coordination and motivational problems. The end result is a great atmosphere to work and solve processes to produce a quality product. Clear leadership at Aberdeen with the exception of the CEO could be a little difficult to grasp on whom is in charge. Within the groups, the positive input from each member and close working relationships have almost made it possible to do away with leaders. It appears at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. Hearing Concepts Of Group Dynamics Essay Within Group Dynamics, there are many factors that goes into structured group, and as an observer I feel this was a very rewarding experience. I feel that hearing concepts of group dynamics, and then seeing the concepts in action expands an individual's knowledge on the subject. Seeing the leadership's skill and the processes of a facilitator can influence aspiring facilitators, and give them the experience they need. For my structured group, I decided to go to Greenleaf, and observe an adolescent depression group. This was most definitely a treatment group, because its main focus was looking at meeting the participant's goals, which was to decrease depressive thoughts and behaviors. This therapeutic group worked as an inpatient facility, and I think this is different from most other treatment groups. It's different, because it was dealing with adolescents struggling with depression, and had an indefinite stay at Greenleaf. There are many factors and concepts from our class present in this treatment group. One of the first concepts that I found in this group was its group work values. Many of the participants found a positive value from coming to the group. This makes handling groups easier, because it causes less stress on the facilitator to keep control of derailers and whiners. Another group value that I saw was that cooperation and democracy. I feel like this ideal was embodied in each group member, because from my perception they felt as though they had thought and ... • 17. My Philosophy Of Small Groups Essay Introduction Over the years, many models have been developed and implemented to endeavor to make disciples. Some of the models have been effective and others have not. Among some of the most biblical and efficient models are the ones that involve small groups. Within the small groups models, they can be broken down into further detail, such as pastoral involvement, the church's goal, missions mindedness, etc. In this paper, I will explain my philosophy of small groups in a church and the importance of the relational group in authentic disciple making. I will also explain how missional groups can help the body of Christ move out into the community. Finally, I will summarize my status in regards to living in community with other believers and being missional with that community. My Philosophy of Small Groups My personal philosophy of small groups is scriptural based. Acts 2:46 says, "And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart." As the original church began, it is obvious from Acts chapter two and particularly from verse 46 that the church met in unity in large groups. They actually used a two–fold approach of meeting in large– group meetings and then in the homes for more intimate small–group gatherings. Acts 2:46 clearly shows the church gathering in homes, eating together, and continuing the work of the ministry. Effective ministry is connecting with both God ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Reflection Paper We did our facilitation about rice commodity in three different countries and I must say, it was good working with my team members. Rice production is one of the most important aspects to the food supply of different countries, I chose China and because China was the number one rice producing country, I thought this was really interesting. Working together in a group is not always fun, but with the right people working with you, it will be easy. My team members for this facilitation were great, which made me enjoy working with them. As soon as we knew who was in the group, we decided to exchange contact information like emails and made a Google doc to share the ideas. But the weakness would be due to the different schedules because we all came up with the idea on the internet and we only met once before the class time on facilitation day. Also, one thing that we could improve from the peer feedback was that we were not that cooperative, and we had too much information. I think that is because we only decided to work together to come up with the format of the facilitation and who should do what. There was not a group leader per–se. However, the strength part was that we had 4 members in the group and each and every one had their roles and understood what needed to be done in order to accomplish our goal. From our slides, materials, and countries research for rice, each member was assigned a role. We had the PowerPoint maker, and research for individuals for China, Japan, and ... This database is accessible to all members at any time and is revisited and updated during every group meeting. I believe that knowing the arrangement of the group and status of tasks is crucial to being successful as a group. Additionally, by staying organized and providing guidance and motivation to the group, I hope to prevent members from procrastinating, submitting suboptimal work products, or loosing focus. Working in a group is very common in high education. Also, not only in university, that skill will very useful in the work place. Group work can make the work to be higher efficiency and develop another skill. In this essay will discuss the benefits of group work and how important is it. Secondly, it will move on to look at the obstacles and challenges in group work. Finally, it will argue that the factors that affect the success of groupwork and what skill can develop in group work. Group working is an essential skill in university because it is beneficial to understand the work and complete it better. The main point is working in a group always can get more information than working individual. When students working individual, they are always cannot get more ideals or difficult to develop the ideal, the reason of that could be some people may be not enough knowledge about the topic. This cause is very obvious in engineering students because they always get a project that is need to think on the difference way to get the solutions. Burke (2011 :88) also states in his Journal that working in group can get more information because the group member who from difference countries and culture backgrounds also they have difference experience of the topic, therefore the students are available to get more information than a single individual. In India, MFIs usually adopt the group based lending models, which are of two types: (i) The self–help group (SHG) model and (ii) (ii) The joint liability group (JLG) model. Under the SHG model, MFI lends the loans to a group of 10 – 20 women as a whole. Under the SHG – bank linkage model, an NGO promotes a group and gets banks to extend loans to the group. Under the joint liability models, loans are extended to, and recovered from, each member of the group. The most popular JLG models are Grameen Bank model and the Activist for Social Alternatives (ASA) model. Most of the leading MFIs in India follow a hybrid of the group models. Exhibit 3 MFIs ... Luckily, I have had the opportunity to run group sessions at my practicum site, so I have gained substantial information about the group process. As I have learned in this program, group therapy is a powerful form of therapy that allows group members to complete their therapeutic goals in a group setting. As a therapist, I believe it is essential to experience what group process is like. For this class assignment we were required to record a video session of a group session demonstrating skills discussed by Yalom in our required text. This paper will serve the purpose to explore my reaction of the experience of leading the group, reflections on the Yalom skills I incorporated, and my views on the strengths I displayed as a leader. In addition, I will explore ways I can improve as a group leader. From this assignment, my hope is to complete a session with tenants of Yalom, and make improvements to my therapeutic style. Reaction Prior to starting the assignment, I was extremely confident in running groups because at my practicum site I ran two education groups and one process group each day I was at my site. Going into the assignment, I had an idea which direction I wanted to go in for the video. Being that I do not live in California like my classmates, and I completed my work at my practicum site, finding members for my group proved to be extremely ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This, not an average small group book it really tells you has a leader how to make it work. With the two authors being psychologists it more of how people react in groups and setting that make this book so different. They provide leader of small groups with valuable leadership and information on how to help their groups to grow in three spiritually, emotionally and relationally. Helping people understand why they need to be in small groups is a problem that every church goes through. Reading is this book helps you understand people's mindset and why they need small groups. The book is broken down into six different parts. The first part titled How Small Groups Help People Grow. When people understand they need small groups and in addition to needing to be around people it can help them grow. The authors speak about how people are conditioned to be around others. It's a psychological fact that people need companionship from others. Knowing this information and using it can help a church and leaders show members why they need to around others. Also, include in this section of the book talks about what are we as small group leaders trying to do. Leaders need to have a clear focus for their group's mission. Group Communication Paper Memorandum To: John Phoenix (New Hiring Manager) CC: From: Date: October 3, 2010 Re: Helpful Tips in the New Position After working in this position for a while working in groups and introducing new group members is a key ingredient in building teams and relationships. In groups and teams, relationships are the feelings, roles, norms, statuses, and trust that both affect. They reflect the quality of communication between a person and others. The variables that have an important effect on relationships are made with others in small groups. These are the roles a person assumes, the norms or standards, the group develops, the status differences that affect the group's productivity, the power some members have, the trust that improves ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The five stages of developing groups is an important part of the position. In many cases it is the relationships that a person will have with other individuals who will determine the best members to put into the different groups. As well, the different skill sets that individuals have are also an important part in placing group members together. The observation of the first groups placed together will be a good gauge in learning how some of the individuals work and observing how others work well together. The group size should be eight to 10 people to facilitate greater ease of equal participation among the individuals. Barriers that Exist in Group Communications Next, the barriers that exist in group communication are premature evaluation of ideas, poor physical surroundings, too many people, poor timing, and stinking thinking. The different ideas made from the group need an evaluation at a certain time; this is done only after all the ideas have been made from the group. Poor physical surroundings can be a problem for group disruption in communication. In some cases the room could be too hot, too cold, too noisy, not adequate enough seating and lack of technological needs for the group to function. If the group is too large then the communication can be lost and equal participation will not occur (Beebe &Masterson, 2006). Poor timing also can be a hindrance to the group by not ... • 37. The Theory Of Algebraic Semi Rings ON BORNOLOGICAL SEMI RINGS ANWAR N. IMRAN Abstract. Our main focus in this work is to generalizes the theory of algebraic semi ring from the algebraic setting to the framework of bornological set. More specifically, the concept of new structure bornological semi ring BSR is introduced and the fundamental constructions in the class of bornological semi rings are discussed. In particular, the existence of arbitrary projective limits and arbitrary inductive limits of bornological semi ring is ensured. Additionally, the description of the category of bornological semi rings is presented and we study the product, coproduct and fiber product. Key words: Bornological Set, Bornological Ring. 1. Introduction The notion of a bounded subset of (real or complex) topological vector space was introduces by von Neamann. That motivated the definition and more general classes bounded sets and called bornologies. A bornological space is a type of space in functional analysis and it is very useful to solve problem of boundedness for set of elements and functions. That means, the main goal for bornology is to determine the boundedness, location and sitting the boundary for any area. A bornology on a set X is a family β of subsets of X, such that; Every singleton set fxg is in β, that means, β covering X ; If A ⊂ B, B 2 β then A 2 β; β is stable under finite union. The elements of β are called bounded subsets of X. Let X and Y be two bornological sets, a map f : X ! Y is called bounded if ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 41. Collaboration in My Home Group My Contribution Paper Collaboration consists of a few fundamental components such as the willingness to listen and learn from each other, sharing one's own ideas and perspectives, having respect for each other, working together to achieve a common goal, and being responsible for the self and the whole group. A group has to collaborate in order to deliberate and achieve their common goal because the three phases of deliberation: information gathering, decision–making, and reflection, all refer back to the ability to collaborate with each other. While working in a group, group members should always work toward the goal of becoming a good leader, "a person who makes the groups she or he works in better" (Practice Deliberation as Citizenship, Gene Edgar) by being a responsible and respectful group member, and also being someone who is willing to go the extra miles to make sure everyone in the group is feeling comfortable presenting their ideas in the group. While working in my Home group this quarter, we have came up with a few norms, such as do not interrupt when someone else is talking, be accepting of everyone's opinion, debate ideas not people, help each other, be responsible for one's own assigned roles and tasks, give everyone a chance to talk and participate, be flexible when doing group work, try to be on time, try to participate in each discussion topic, and be prepared before class. This meeting was a for teens and young adults that were experiencing issues of emotional abuse, substance abuse, sexual abuse, depression, co–dependency, and anything else that was causing them struggles. The Landing (what this group is called), is a daughter program of Celebrate Recovery, which has been helping people in different communities for 20 years. This collection of groups is faith based and helps the whole family, not just the individual experiencing the problem. It is set up as a fifty–two week program, based on principles that Jesus shared in the Sermon on the Mount. They use a 12–step program model using Jesus Christ as their focus and not psychological theory. There are over 20,000 programs in churches around the world. The programs have also had great success being used in the prison system. Since the beginning of these programs, many people have found peace and healing from their issues, hurts, and habits. • 45. Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis In Lord of the Flies, a group of teenage boys is faced with the tremendous obstacle of being stranded on an island after their plane had unfortunately crashed. To make matters worse, the eldest of the group is only twelve years old. They are now faced with the task of establishing roles for everyone to ensure that their time on the island went a smooth as possible, and that they were rescued as soon as possible. By establishing roles amongst the group, not everyone was able to be assigned their desired role, so naturally some of the boys were upset. This story provided a fairly accurate depiction of how it could possibly be when establishing a civilization in real life. Fairly shortly after the boy's plane crashed, everyone was assigned roles, and the voted leader of them all was Ralph. Ralph was really wise beyond his years, especially in comparison to many of the other boys on the island, and really had his priorities straight. Ralph's main concern was survival and order amongst the group, along with that came food and most importantly a signal fire big enough for passing boats to notice. One major quote from the book showing Ralph's leadership came early on, "They obeyed the summons of the conch, partly because Ralph blew it, and he was big enough to be a link with the adult world of authority."(Golding 50) This quote shows how Ralph had authority of the group in the beginning, and when he spoke they listened. I believe that many Christian's speak loose of this word, or really do not strive to preach the Gospel as the Bible instructs us to do. This module has taught me a new approach to evangelism in order to be effective in reaching people with the Gospel through analyzing people group, an area and a strategy for planning. The term "people group" defines itself, however this module further examines what the term truly means through the act of analyzing. This term has been described as a group of people who carry common traits, share the same language, who also can be group together depending on your yearly income and career, who you are family members with, or who share the exact same interest as you. This is how certain people are grouped together and are defined as people group. To order to analyze a people group, you must study the group of individuals based on they are classified as a group. The purpose of studying a people group is to the individuals by reaching them with the Gospel, and having the ability to punctuate with them through what you have studied or learned about their culture in order to be more effective in reaching them with the Gospel. • 55. The Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies The conch shell is a major symbol in William Golding's novel, Lord of the Flies. It allows the boys to remain civilized and keeps them together for the majority of the novel. The novel is about a small group of boys who are stranded on an island after a plane crash. The boys begin civilized and tame, but slowly turn to chaos and savagery after Jack, the savage minded leader of the choir boys, and his hunters leave and create their own group which is run as a fear based tyranny. Items like the conch are some of the only things that keep the boys from turning to savagery from the very start and shows a significance throughout the book. The conch first brings peace and order to the boys at the beginning of the book, eventually loses most of its importance when Jack and the hunters leaves the group and brings the last bit of civilization and society with it once it is destroyed. The significance and loss of significance of the conch shell represents the loss of civilization and order in the group of boys in the novel Lord of the Flies and it loses its significance when law and order is abandoned by the boys. Once the conch is smashed, all order and civilization left that was on the island is destroyed with it. Such interaction amongst learners based on equal partnership in the learning experience, is termed as cooperative learning. With cooperative situations, learners seek outcomes that are beneficial to themselves as well as to other group members. Cooperative learning strategies: There are many cooperative learning strategies which have been used worldwide for face–to–face interaction. The most widely used cooperative strategies are as follows. 1) Jigsaw: Jigsaw is a grouping strategy in which the members of the class are organised into "jigsaw" groups. The students are then reorganised into "expert" groups containing one member from each jigsaw group. The students in the expert groups are given time to discuss and learn the material provided them. Later, they have to return to their jigsaw groups to share their learning. 2) Three step interview: In this strategy, after introducing a particular topic in students, there are 3 steps that need to be followed. These are examples of situations where group communication failed. Group communication involves a shared identity among three or more people, a considerable amount of interaction among these people, and a high level of interdependence between everyone involved (Trenholm 196–97). It is essential to understand group dynamics for a variety of reasons. Everyone participates in groups throughout the course of a lifetime, and these groups are often very goal–oriented. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Janis was puzzled by the inability of very intelligent people to make sound decisions. His answer was a condition he termed Groupthink. Janis defines Groupthink as a "a quick and easy way to refer to a mode of thinking that people engage in when they are deeply involved in a cohesive in–group, when the members' strivings for unanimity override their motivation to realistically appraise alternative courses of action" (Janis 9). Janis further states that "Groupthink refers to a deterioration of mental efficiency, reality testing, and moral judgment that results from in–group pressures" (Janis 9). Groupthink can lead to bad judgments and decisions being made. It serves as a simple way to deal with difficult issues. The symptoms of Groupthink are clear. The "illusion of invulnerability" happens when a group thinks that they cannot go wrong. Confidence among the members of the group is remarkably high and is reflected in the decisions that they make (Keil 1). A "belief in inherent morality of the group" occurs when the group thinks tremendously of their morality. The group believes that it is doing the right thing in all circumstances. • 63. The Key Objective Of A Great Facilitator The main objective of a great facilitator is to development a team that is cohesive and cooperative, producing results that make the group the most effective and efficient unit possible. However, this is not always the case. Building a team that flourishes in any situation can be a daunting endeavor. Many individuals unknowingly lack the skills necessary to be a great facilitator. Roger Schwarz (2002), has created nine ground rules for honing a more effective group. When these nine ground rules are applied and executed by a team, any facilitator will be able to produce a more effective and efficient group. Furthermore, "by becoming familiar with the ground rules, you can watch a group and identify specifically what is happening that is enhancing or hindering the group's process" (Schwarz, 2002 p. 96). Schwarz's (2002), nine ground rules are as followed respectively, "test assumptions and inferences, share all relevant information, use specific examples and agree on what important words mean, explain your reasoning and intent, focus on interests, not positions, combine advocacy and inquiry, jointly design next steps and ways to test disagreements, discuss undiscussable issues, and us a decision–making rule that generates the level of commitment needed" (p. 97). This method meant that none of the group was the project manager and instead the thing keeping people on track was their self–motivation to complete the project. The motivation could have been reduced if the work been assigned one at a time instead of all at the start allowing people to focus on one thing at a time and seeing the list of work get smaller. When Norway gained its independence, Georg Abel was elected to the Norwegian legislature, also known as the Storting, and George decided to send one of his sons to the cathedral school, at which Georg worked. The following year he sent his eldest son to the school. this was the first time Niels ever went to school. Niels started cathedral school at age 13 and was shared rooms and classes with older brothers. compared to his older brother, Niels didn't seem to be a prodigy because his brothers grades were far better than his own. Only when a new teacher, Bernt Holmboe, started at the school, did Niels begin to take interests in math and caught the attention of the new math teacher. Bernt began to give Niels higher level math and give him extra tutoring. after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 69. The Conch Shell In Lord Of The Flies According to the merriam–webster dictionary, the definition of symbolism; artistic imitation or invention that is a method of revealing or suggesting immaterial, ideal, or otherwise intangible truth or states. In the book the Lord of the flies, various things are used as symbols to show a truth or some type of relationship. One of the biggest symbolic things in the book was the conch shell. The conch shell was originally founded on a waves upwash during the very first stages of the book. Just like items had a certain meaning, color had symbolic meanings as well. The color of the shell was creamy white which symbolizes; purity, innocence, fairness, and honor. The conch shell in Lord of the Flies begins as a symbol for authority, later on it becomes disconnected between the boys, and concludes as being ignored and basically destroyed. As the boys are stranded on the deserted island, in order to survive they copy civilization just like back in England. Authority such as rules and a head chief was much needed. In their quest of the finding such similarities, they come across the conch shell–creamy white– by the ocean. The group of boys take it as a symbol of authority inside the group. Ralph, the main character and the boy who originally found the conch blew it to assemble the group of boys. Minutes go by and Ralph is picked due to the fact that the conch is in his possession. The group of boys used meetings as a way to talk about problems. In fact, the process of this to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 71. Democracy In Lord Of The Flies Analysis Loud, boisterous chanting raged all around Simon. Jack and the others surrounded Simon and started biting, spitting, brutally murdering Simon. Suddenly, the boys stopped and resumed eating the sow, leaving Simon to lay on the beach, dead, surrounded by his own blood. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of British schoolboys are trapped on an uninhabited island after flying on a plane that later crashed. In the beginning, the boys held civilization, the hope of rescue, and democracy to the highest esteem. By the middle, the boys, especially Jack, no longer respected the democracy. They savagely stole glasses and, with face paint on, murdered Simon. By the end of the book, Jack's dictatorship reigned supreme as his tribe launched a boulder at Piggy, killing him, and burned down the island, just to kill Ralph. The conch was a symbol of the democracy and order. In the beginning of Lord of the Flies, the conch was pink and strong and so were the democracy and order. The democracy started when the group voted Ralph as the leader when he was holding the beautiful cream colored conch. The conch helped dictate who spoke, like when the "littleun" with the mulberry birthmark on his face was able to talk and not be interrupted by the older boys. This shows the order and democracy in the group. This showed no evil, only peace, and democracy. By the middle of the novel, the conch became faded and fragile, and so did with the democracy and order. The conch changed from a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. The Progression Of Abstract Algebra Math 559 IDEALS IN RINGS by Naira Arakelyan 1. Introduction The progression of abstract algebra has come to be due to problems which were deemed to be unsolvable through classical methods, as well as discoveries from past mathematicians. Firstly, these problems had been associated with the theory of algebraic equations by the closing of the 19th century. Significant topics of abstract algebra would consist of Diophantine equations, as well as arithmetical investigations of higher and quadratic degree forms which had contributed to the concept of notions of a ring and ideal. It is important to know that a ring is generally the setting in which integer arithmetic is generalized, hence it being a stepping stone for the advancement of commutative ring theory. It is also important to know that ring theory can be used to comprehend the fundamental laws of physics, including basic special relativity as well as symmetry phenomena in molecular chemistry. The attempts created to solve Fermat 's Last Theorem also advanced the path for generalizing integer arithmetic, and developed the concept of a ring. In Fermat's Last Theorem, it is stated: The equation xn+ yn= zn has no solution for positive integers, x, y, z when n > 2. Fermat wrote "I have discovered a truly remarkable proof which this margin is too small to contain." (Diophantus 's Arithmetica) One attempt to prove Fermat's Last Theorem had been in the year 1753, when Euler had brought forward a novel set of integers which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Should A Motorcycle Be An Outlaw That Is The Question To Be or Not To Be an Outlaw That Is the Question As a result of many years of growing up around fast cars and motorcycles, I became very interested in learning how to ride a motorcycle. Of course, once I was old enough to learn to ride my parents feared the idea of their oldest child being on a bike because of the risk of being hurt or even at the worst case of death. But, that never changed my mind on getting a motorcycle. So once I saved for several years. The day had finally come; I was so excited I could not wait to purchase a motorcycle. So my husband and I went to go look at a gorgeous 2007 GSXR 600; in which I purchased. After, about a year of riding the bike my husband introduced the idea of being a part of a motorcycle club. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first type of signal that is used to indicate that someone sees a cop is to pat the top of their head; anytime someone sees a cop they will do this to warn others in the group. A second type of signal is the hand signals to show the people riding in the group on if they are turning left or right. The hand sign for turning left is to hold your left arm straight out and the signal for turning right is extend the left upper–arm out to the left horizontally and angle your forearm vertically. The hand signs for left and right are almost always done when the patch member has a passenger. In addition the rider will also use his or her turn signals on the bike. The reason for the extra signals are to ensure others on the road can see what the members on the motorcycles are intending to do. I learned the values and norms of the MC world. As a patch member the club is a second family. The members in the group are your brothers and sisters. In addition to them being your family respect is a big deal when being in the club. Respect is earned and not giving to anyone. Also in an MC there are guidelines for how the group is supposed to ride. In the MC world the club will either ride two bikes side by side or in a stagger style. The reason for having a certain way to ride is for the safety of the people in the group. The stagger style is more known in the motorcycle club that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. The Importance of an Efficient Group Work Activity INTRODUCTION This study provided an opportunity to indicate the importance of the efficient group work activities. The reason of selecting this subject is depending on my observations in İstek Semiha Şakir High School. From my observations, there are several problems in classroom environment; however, inefficient group work activities are one of the most common problem in classes during my observations. It is so crucial problem, as it is accepted that group work helps students to enhance speaking skill by working together and communicating with each other. Group work and pair work is a class management strategy and the teachers' role is facilitator. This role in group work is very difficult and very important. These reasons makes using group work activities so significant. "Groups often come up with more and better solutions than the individual." (Barbara Gross Davis, "Tools for Teaching", 197.) In spite of its importance, the teachers avoid from using group work techniques, so there should be rational reasons for avoidance of using group work. The most common idea in the paper is that the importance of the group work techniques, why teachers avoid using group work activities, and what the students' opinion about the group work activities. A second objective in writing the paper is to help readers understand how different types of group work techniques. The importance of the group work techniques is obviously clear, but how can we solve the problems? Depending on my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
