Cardinality in Blind Children
Aim, objective and Hypothesis
The current study set out to explore the generalisability of counting behaviour and the understanding
of the cardinal principle in blind children. To date, research in this area has focused mainly on
typically developing children. Some researchers have undertaken studies in the atypical population;
however, this is limited to disorders such as Down syndrome (Caycho, Gunn & Siegal, 1991),
mental retardation (Baroody, 1986) and severe learning difficulties (Porter, 1998). Therefore,
children with visual impairment have not been given much attention in this field of research.
The aim of the first experiment will be to observe whether children are able to count objects with
varying degree of manipulation and mode of input, to assert the numerosity of the count. These
entail counting objects than can and cannot be separated from those that have been counted, as well
as the counting of sounds. The second experiment is designed to confirm the findings of experiment
one; hence, children who understood the cardinal principle will be able to detect error made by
others in counting. A further aim of the study will be to investigate whether smaller number words
are acquired before larger ones, as it is the case in typically developing children. The researcher
hypothesised that blind children's development will be slightly delayed in the younger age group,
but will not show significant differences in the older age group when compared to typically

Osiris Thesis
Osiris is the first child of Nut and Geb. This makes the siblings of Osiris Seth, Nephthys, and Isis.
Osiris married Isis, and they had one son Horus. One day, Nephthys took the form of Isis. Osiris had
another child, and his name was Anubis. Since Osiris was the firstborn son, he became the king after
Geb's death. He ruled Egypt with his sister and wife Isis. During Geb's reign, the people of Egypt
were uncivilized and cannibals. Osiris was disgusted and ended that. He civilized the people of
Egypt by teaching them what to eat, the art of agriculture, how to worship the gods, and he set up
laws for the citizens. The god Thoth also helped by inventing the arts and sciences and naming
things. Osiris was then known as the best king of Egyptian

Developmental Math Syllabus
Essay 1
I teach developmental mathematics courses for struggling math students at the Community College
of Philadelphia. For many students, this is where the community college experience begins – in a
remedial arithmetic or algebra class, reviewing mathematics concepts they learned, or should have
learned, before they graduated from high school. As I reviewed the course syllabus and class
requirements on the first day of a new semester, Scott, an older male student shouted out a barrage
of questions: "What do we need this for? Can we take tests over? How many classes can we miss?"
His tone was hostile, and all eyes were fixed on me and my reaction.
As a veteran educator and leader with over 12 years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I teach in a computer lab and incorporate technology in the classroom. I use a supplemental online
program by Pearson Education, Math Lab Plus (MLP), to reinforce the material. The program has an
online discussion component. To foster a sense of community in the classroom, the first assignment
I post is for students to write a brief bio about themselves, including their goals and aspirations for
taking the course. I respond to each entry to make sure students know they are seen and heard and
that I care about their success. As part of their participation grade, students are required to respond
to two other students in the course. This helps them recognize they are part of a community of
learners and not just another student lost in the crowd. Students are placed in cooperative learning
groups where they work with a partner to improve their understanding of different math concepts.
Additionally, I use a toolbox of leadership strategies that are implemented throughout the semester
including: reflective practice, naming and reframing the questions that arise and analyze the results,
integrating theory into practice. Carl Buehner said, "They may forget what you said, but they will
never forget how you made them feel."
I meet monthly with some of my colleagues to discuss and review how we can become more
effective leaders. Currently, we are exploring Angela Duckworth's work looking at how we can

Osiris: The Egyptian God Of Death, The Underworld And Rebirth
Osiris is the Egyptian god of death, the Underworld and Rebirth. He was killed by his brother, Seth,
who was jealous. After his death, he became the King of the Underworld. ( Linda Alchin, 2015).
According to Linda Alchin, ¨He was the consort of Isis, who was also his sister. His famous sons
were Horus by Isis and Anubis by his other sister, Nephthys.¨ Osiris was son to Geb and Nut, who
also were parents to Seth, Isis, and Nephthys. ( Lisa Springer and Neil Morris, 2010) According to
Encyclopaedia Britannica, ¨ he was a local god of Busiris, in Lower Egypt,¨.
The myth is Osiris was killed by his brother Seth. Osiris had left for King business, and left his wife
and sister behind with his brother Seth. Isis knew Seth wanted to get rid of Osiris.

The Traversal Of The Infinite
Finiteness has to do with the existence of boundaries. Intuitively, we feel that where there is a
separation, a border, a threshold – there is bound to be at least one thing finite out of a minimum of
two. This, of course, is not true. Two infinite things can share a boundary. Infinity does not imply
symmetry, let alone isotropy. An entity can be infinite to its "left" – and bounded on its right.
Moreover, finiteness can exist where no boundaries can. Take a sphere: it is finite, yet we can
continue to draw a line on its surface infinitely. The "boundary", in this case, is conceptual and
arbitrary: if a line drawn on the surface of a sphere were to reach its starting point – then it is finite.
Its starting point is the boundary, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second thesis is that every substance is made up of simpler substances. The two mathematical
antinomies relate to the infinite. The answer to the first is: "Since the world does not exist in itself
(detached from the infinite regression), it exists unto itself neither as a finite whole nor as an infinite
whole." Indeed, if we think about the world as an object, it is only logical to study its size and
origins. But in doing so, we attribute to it features derived from our thinking, not affixed by any
objective reality.
Kant made no serious attempt to distinguish the infinite from the infinite regression series, which led
to the antinomies. Paradoxes are the offspring of problems with language. Philosophers used infinite
regression to attack both the notions of finiteness (Zeno) and of infinity. Ryle, for instance,
suggested the following paradox: voluntary acts are caused by wilful acts. If the latter were
voluntary, then other, preceding, wilful acts will have to be postulated to cause them and so on ad
infinitum and ad nauseam. Either the definition is wrong (voluntary acts are not caused by wilful
acts) or wilful acts are involuntary. Both conclusions are, naturally, unacceptable. Infinity leads to
unacceptable conclusions is the not so hidden message.
Zeno used infinite series to attack the notion of finiteness and to demonstrate that finite things are
made of infinite quantities of ever–smaller things. Anaxagoras said that there is no "smallest

Isis Nursing Horus After learning so much about ancient Greece and many other ancient cultures
from different parts of the world in class. In this essay I will analyze the artwork by giving a full 360
degree description of the work and every detail. I will also relate it to work we have studied in class.
The work I will analyze is found at the Walters Art Museum, in Baltimore, Maryland. The title of
the work is Isis Nursing Horus, an Egyptian artwork dated between 680–640 BCE. This is a three
dimensional volume statuette bronze seated statue of Isis nursing Horus. The statuette currently sits
at Walters Museum, Baltimore, Maryland. The measurement of this artwork is 215/8x 57/8x 91/4.

The artwork is simplified, not too many extreme details included compared to some of the work
with complex details of the Vikings in early medieval times. The artist makes the sculpture simple.
The artwork is very rounded, no jagged or edgy parts of the sculpture, almost a smooth transition all
around and smooth. Proportions of the sculpture seems about right, with regard to length of Isis and
Horus. The sculptor gives Isis full feminine shapes, giving her curves at the right place and proper
recognizable feminine organs.
The artwork is unrealistic for two major reasons, its highly simplified and non–representational for
of art. The reason the artwork is highly simplified is that, there are not a lot of details on the
sculpture of Isis nursing Horus, her hands are simple for texture of any sorts. The reason it is non–
representational for of art is because, the clothing she is wearing, is plain, secondly Horus looks too
stiff to be considered a representation of a toddler, who are often chubby with soft skin. For the
reminder of the essay I will analyze and discuss the iconography in the sculpture and how some of
the work in this object relates to several works studied in

Egypt's Myth In The Movie Gods Of Egypt
From the trailer, Gods of Egypt released in 2016, seems to be an action–packed retelling of the
iconic battle between Horus and Set. But in reality, the movie is loosely based on actual Egyptian
mythology. It is fascinating to see the differences between the film, and mythology. As well as
analyze the movie's message, and how the movie uses myth to deliver that message.
The movie Gods of Egypt and the original myths detailing Osiris and Horus's lives are incredibly
different. In the tale, Osiris's death occurs a lot differently. In the myth, Set, his brother invites him
to a banquet to celebrate the 28th year of his reign. Set has a beautiful chest made of cedar wood
inlaid with ebony and ivory that is made precisely to Osiris's measurements, and proposes a contest;
that, whoever can fit into the chest perfectly, will have it gifted to them. One by one, seventy–two of
his secret accomplices attempt to fit into it for show, and not surprisingly none of them fit. Set
persuades Osiris into participating in the contest and fits perfectly. Right before he can savour his
victory, the accomplices' slam down the lid, nail it shut and lap it around with molten lead. The co–
conspirators then throw him into the Nile to die.
In the movie, they are celebrating Horus's coronation, which is interesting considering in the myth,
Horus isn't born until after Osiris is dead. Nonetheless Set shows up to honour him as well, but has
other intentions. In the middle of the coronation, his

Reflection On Group Dynamics
This is my first semester at City Tech. When I signed up for the group dynamics class I expected to
have some difficulties. Prior to this class I worked on various group projects and for the most part it
was a wreck. The information given was unclear, members were not focused and/ or the professor
was too busy to help. As a result, I ended up doing all the work and not feeling confident in my
projects. This class on the other hand, has been totally different. The group that I am in is extremely
unique. We all have different ideas but we come together as a group to accomplish the task at hand.
The commitment of the group members has never been an issue. Our Professor is Nicole Borger, she
has a great attitude and is extremely down to earth. She is approachable and willing to assist her
student's. For instance, after the midterm, the class and the professor agreed that we didn't do well.
We discussed our issues and ways to review for the next exam. Due to, professor Borger attitude, I
am confident that the class will do exceptionally well. Both the group and the professor are clear on
the purpose of the class and, what is expected from each other. In conclusion, this class has changed
my perspective about working in a group. Since my prior experience with groups was so unsettling,
I believed that all groups were going to be the same. However, this class has made it possible to
believe that there are groups that respect and take into consideration other members'

Communication Class I Loved It Essay
Within this communication class I loved it. Although of course it was hard to handle when Thurman
passed away. I believe when you took over the class, you did a wonderful job. I really liked that you
did not have examines because they give me anxiety and I do believe they are just a part of
memorization as well. Although you did have unlimited attempts on the quizzes online I personally
thought they were somewhat difficult. I do believe they should be challenging of course due to the
fact that they are there to see if we understood the material, but it was hard to do well on some of the
quizzes due to the difficulty. I did like that you did the unlimited quizzes though because they would
give the opportunity for me to go back and see what I did wrong and helped me understand the
material better. As for the presentations I really liked that you were not so strict about them in a way
and you always after the speech told me I did well. It boosted my confidence every time you told me
that I did well and it was much appreciated. When you made the atmosphere in the class seem more
relaxed during presentations and not so harsh it made the experience more calm and it made me feel
more comfortable. One thing I would have liked to have was more time between speeches though. I
just felt like they were so crammed together that there was not much time to prepare for them. I
would try as much as could to prepare so that all my speeches would sound natural and flow well
and so I could

Osiris: The Ancient Egyptian God
Osiris also known as Asir was the first son of Geb and Nut and the brother of Set, Horus, Isis and
Nepthys. He was one of the most prominent gods of the Heliopolitan Ennead, but his worship
predated the development of this fairly complex philosophy. Although Atum was installed as the
head of the Ennead by the priests of Heliopolis, Osiris was considered to be the king of the
underworld, and is the only deity who is referred to simply as god. This gives us some indication of
his prominence and popularity.Osiris was the ancient Egyptian god of the dead the underworld, and
the afterlife. He is usually depicted as a man with green skin and a beard associated with the
pharaoh, wearing a crown with two large ostrich feathers, and legs partially

Imagery Of Amulets : The Eye Of Horus, Or Wedjet ( Fig )
The imagery of amulets is repeated throughout the excavated Ancient Egyptian tombs, such as that
of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen of the 18th dynasty. It is clear these amulets played a crucial role in the
mummification process. One of the most well known and intricately defined amulets is the Eye of
Horus. It has an extensive religious meaning as well as a thorough and complex belief system to
support its importance. The story behind the Eye of Horus has been the greatest influence behind the
famous funerary processes of Ancient Egypt. The Eye of Horus, or Wedjet (Fig. 1) was a major
religious symbol of Ancient Egypt and is still used in modern day life. It depicts a human eye with
characteristics of a falcon, however it has a much deeper meaning due to the fact it represents, as the
name suggests, the eye of the Horus and the immense history that comes with the name. The concept
of Horus originated in around 3000 BCE. This early Egyptian concept depicts Horus as a partial
divinity as well as their king. In addition to being the king of Egypt, another concept of Horus
existed in which Horus was the lord of the sky. However, these two perceptions were not conflicting
and were well accepted by the Egyptians. There is also a more perplexing idea in which there are 2
versions of Horus, Horus the Elder, who becomes the deity Osiris after his death or is also
mentioned as the brother of Osiris, and Horus the Son, who is named this due to his familial relation
to Osiris.

Well organized government. Every complex religion has to have a well–organized government. In
Egypt, there are many important governments. In Egypt, the pharaoh was the ruler. An example is
that the pharaoh controlled all the people. Like if he wanted more power he can make a war. Another
example is that he would collect taxes and raise the taxes. There were many visors but the first one
was important. The first ever visor was Imhotep. He was the leader of the government. The visor
was the chief overseer of the land, kind of like a prime minister. The pharaoh did everything in
Egypt. In Egypt the pharaoh collected taxes gave taxes, he even demanded where the slaves would
work. The slaves couldn't do anything or else they be faced with punishes. The pharaoh also owned
all the land in Egypt. Complex religion. Ancient Egypt had a complex religion. They had many gods

Why Is Mathematics Invented By Humans?
With mathematics seemingly being intuitive and the basis of the universe around us it would seem a
given that mathematics has always been there, that it is a physical concept which we can completely
understand and one that has set rules that cannot change. However this is not the case and we only
have to look just over two thousand years into the past to see the use of Roman Numerals, where
numbers were represented by letters or four thousand years in the past to see the unrealistic yet
beautiful base–60 number system used by the Babylonians to realise that whilst the overall concept
is the same, to group things of the same amount together, the way that we express it is vastly
different.
To address the question, "To what extent was mathematics invented by humans?" we first need to
deal with the most simple concept of mathematics, the natural numbers; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.. There is
nothing simpler in maths then this, but it took us nearly 165,000 years to even produce a primitive
tally stick, the Lebombo bone. Yet it was these numbers more than anything that enabled us to take
control of the world around us and let our presence be felt across the globe. But what is a number? It
appears to be a fairly easy question yet it is very hard to answer as it is not shown in the physical
world, it is an abstraction, a human mental concept, one that is derived from reality but is not
actually real, but one which allowed humans to develop and discover new areas of mathematics and

Mythology Vs Greek Mythology
Throughout human history people around the world have looked upon the stars and pondered their
very existence, seeking answers for questions that seem as unanswerable to many: how did we get
here, what are we here for, what happens when we die? More often than not theses questions were
left unresolved and humanity was forced to find reason in their own existence. Humanity began to
look at the world around them for explanation, slowly creating stories that would become the
building blocks of religion. These stories or Myths became an extremely important part of cultures
all around the world, giving an explanation to questions that once seemed unanswerable.
Mythology is often viewed as stories that were only told for entertainment purposes, this could not
be farther from the truth. Although they were often used for entertainment purposes mythology in its
most basic since is a religious story, this understandably confuses many individuals. This is because
mythology is broken down into two key sections, dead mythology and living mythology. Dead
mythology is what most individuals think of when hearing the term mythology today, these are
stories of the past that were once held as truth but are no longer practiced. While living mythology
refers to the religious stories we see in our day to day lives. While the Greek and Norse mythology
is considered dead mythology Abrahamic text such as the Bible, Torah, Karan all fit the definition of
living mythology. This is because theses

Linear Regression Analysis Paper
In this paper I will be defining the term graph sequence, recursion formulas and arithmetic
sequence. I will also solve the two problems given. Lastly, I will tell how the sums compare to one
another.
Definition
So what exactly is a graph sequence? A graph sequence is basically a set of discreet points on a
graph. So they are basically the points that we plot on a graph. The recursion formulas are the nth
number term of a sequence. It is the function of the term and can also define sequences using the
recursion formulas. The recursion formula looks something like this; an = 1/n. The last definition
that I will cover is the arithmetic sequence. The arithmetic sequence is defined as a sequence in
which each term after the first differs from the preceding term by a constant amount. An example of
how the formula would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To solve this is very simple just add 5836 + 6185 + 6585 + 7020 = 25,626. So our answer to Part A
is $25,626.
For Part B we would use the arithmetic sequence formula to solve this problem. In this problem n =
the number of years. We are going to use the formula provided an = 395n + 5419.
So our first problem will look like this; a (1) = 395 (1) + 5419 = 5814. The second year, a (2) = 395
(2) + 5419 = 6209. The third year; a (3) = 395 (3) + 5419 = 6604. The fourth year, a (4) = 395 (4) +
5419 = 6999. So now we have the sums of all four years. Which are: 5814, 6209, 6604, and 6999.
To solve for Part B we will be using the formula given Sn = (n/2) (a1 + an). So, a1 = the first year
sum, n= the fourth year and fourth year sum. This is how the problem looks written out with the
correct numbers plugged in S4 = 4/2 (5814 + 6999). So to get this answer you will simply divide 2
into 4 and you get 2 or 4/2 = 2. Then you add the sums in the parenthesis or (5814 + 6999) = 12813.
Finally you will multiply 2(12813) and get

Correlation Between Network And Network
Interaction points of spatial networks are linked to each other by what the writer's term as channels,
and they're the paths through which material is transported. A definite sequence of linked edges in
spatially embedded graph will form a channel. As you look at figure 1a, the roads are your channels,
the pipeline network pipes, and tracks in railway networks are different examples of channels. The
channels of which the writers have termed have exactly two end points, where the end points of a
channel can intersect with other channels or they can remain free. An example of this is: one of the
channel l3 end points intersects with the channel l7 at the point of j6. On the other hand, the end
point will not intersect with any other channel, it will represents a dead end. This dead end can be
considered as an extremity of a network, so they call it boundary of the network. So if you direct
your attention to figure 1b you can see that all the points marked by hollow circles are boundary
points for the network. Channels cannot only specified by geometry of edges, it can also be defined
by a names attached to the geometry. Example: highway Interstate 75 cannot be recognized in a
network by its geometry alone. In order to identify it, you will have to locate every point in the
Euclidean plane which have the name Interstate 75. In their model of spatial networks, they assigned
thematic attribute values to every point of a channel. Now the attribute values can be used to
recognize

Examples Of Egyptian Mythology
As Pope Shenouda the third once said, "Egypt is not a country that we live in but a country that lives
within us." This quote means that Egypt is more than just a country it's something that has lots of
details and beliefs in it. Egyptian mythology teaches lessons to others. It has gods and goddesses
who have power to do things and is really interesting to learn about. Egyptian mythology supports
the universal human experience. In their myths, Egyptians value security, power, and benevolence.
In the Egyptian myth, "Osiris and Isis" Osiris and Isis were brother and sister who were the king and
queen of Egypt. Their brother named Set was very jealous of Osiris so he killed him and spreaded
his body parts throughout Egypt. With help Isis found his the body parts, resurrected him then made

The scales is a place where people go to get there heart weighed. He determined whether they go to

caregiver because his job is too decide whether he sends the right people to heaven. The value of
this myth is benevolence because he helps the gods and humans by sending good people to heaven.
A quote that explains that the value is benevolence is, "According to an Osiris myth, he helped Isis
embalm her husband" (Egyptian Myth). This emphasizes how he is willing to help other people and
gods with anything. All of this together means that the purpose of this myth is to show how some
people are there for other people to help with anything. The value of benevolence is something

Charles Tilly's State Making
Charles Tilly (1929–2008) is a former sociologist and political scientist who introduced the idea of
state–making through state–makers in global politics. Charles Tilly argued that state–making is the
process by which state–makers eliminate other hostile or adverse powerful men within a given
territory. State–makers are the power holders in society such as kings or landowners . In "Bringing
the State Back" (Tilly, Charles. 172) Tilly argues that states are formed through a capricious and
unintentional process by which state–makers enforce war in the pursuit of territory, human
population and scarce resources. Tilly says that state–makers did not take part in the pivotal and
costly tasks of war–making, extraction and capital accumulation with a mind set of ultimately
forming a state. Rather, Tilly argued that the pursuit of resources for war–making, capital
accumulation and extraction was required to gain territory, money and human population. Tilly
describes capital accumulation as the process of investing money into warfare in return for future
profits or benefits. Lastly, Tilly defines extraction as acquiring means such as population, money or
weaponry to carry out the initial war–making process. Modern day rebel militant forces such as ISIS
and the Taliban support Tilly's explanation of state–making, however ISIS challenges the aspect of
unintentional state–making, as it ultimately envisages the emergence of a state once the war–making
is over.

Osiris
Osiris is an Egyptian God. He is the son of the sky goddess Nut and the earth God Geb. Through the
Egyptian history Osiris has been given different names because he is able to change his presence. He
is the god of the underworld, god of the afterlife, god of transition, resurrection, and regeneration.
After death Egyptians believed that their soul will be judge in front of the Ambush and Osiris.
Where they will weight their soul against a feather and depending on the weight the gods were able
to come to decisions. Like many other Gods of Egypt Osiris is represented as a pharaohs that is
wearing a crown while he is holding a crook and fail in his hand. It is also said that Osiris
Osiris is represented as wearing a plumed crown, holding a crook and flail. Which shows his

With that being said, the best type of leadership to implement within our company would be the
team leadership model. The team is a certain type of group that is made up of members that
interdependent, who have the same set of common goals, and must arrange their various activities to
fulfill these goals. The team has certain roles for each leader within it a great deal of knowledge and
background on a certain topic along with the appropriate skills to perform the tasks. Since each of
the members of our group are such strong leaders this type of leadership would by far be the best
option for our company. This model will allow for more fluidity to be within our company and will
allow for the greatest amount of success.

A simple structure has the authority centralized in a single person. Ashley showed her leadership and
communication skills to get the group started.

1.Introduction In 1965, Zadeh.L.A[16] introduced the study of fuzzy sets. Mathematically a fuzzy
set on a set X is a mapping µ into [0, 1] of real numbers; for x in X, µ(x) is called the membership of
x belonging to X. The membership function gives only an approximation for belonging but it does
not give any information of not belonging. To overcome this, Gau.W.L and Buehrer.D.J[7]
introduced the concept of vague sets. A vague set A of a set X is a pair of functions (tA,fA), where
tA and fA are fuzzy sets on X satisfying tA(x)+fA(x)≤1, ∀ x ∈ X. A fuzzy set tA of X

Math 213 Reflective Paper
Reflective Paper – Math 213 Math 213 is a class packed full of information valuable to the
development of a professional math teacher. There were several major mathematical concepts
addressed in the class ranging from problem solving, numeration systems and sets, whole numbers
and their operations, to algebraic thinking, integers and number theory, rational numbers as
fractions, decimals and real numbers, and proportional reasoning, percents, and applications. This
class enhanced my understanding of math in general, as well as enabled me to explore strategies on
how to best present mathematical concepts in an elementary classroom setting.

It is up to teachers to give students the skills to set up and solve algorithms that will help to build
their math confidence and motivate them to expand on what they have learned.
Teaching the concept of integers and number theory is a fundamental part of math curriculum. The
ability of a professional mathematics teacher to tie in real world experiences, using hand on
activities and manipulatives is essential in enabling students to build on mathematic ideas and
understand how they interconnect. Also important is the concept of rational numbers as fractions,
decimals, and real numbers. Teachers need to help ease the transition from whole numbers by
clearly explaining the new rules and definitions students are unfamiliar with.
By teaching the importance of ratios, proportions, proportional reasoning, percents, and their real
life applications, teachers are giving students the skills they need to become productive members of
society. Proportional reasoning is one of the big ideas in math and if students are able to grasp this
concept, they will be able to apply it in many instances in their lives. Teachers can assist students
with this by providing interesting, well thought out problems that represent situations students will
encounter in the future.
This course influenced my philosophy on teaching math by helping me realize how important

Aristotle 's Ideas Of Potential Infinity
Aristotle supported the idea of "potential infinity" but refuted the idea of "actual infinity". He
defined potential infinity by saying if you are counting natural numbers, logic would tell us that we
can always add one to the previous number and that can potentially go on forever. He also said that
we could potentially use this logic in geometry if we imagined a line that extended beyond both
points with no recognizable end. On the contrary, actual infinity seems paradoxical because even if
we had an infinite number of "things" in a category then infinity would still be "whole" in a sense
with a beginning and an end. Aristotle's ideas were supported for many centuries ("Aristotle", n.d.).
The philosopher Zeno of Elea (495–435 B.C.E.) came up with the idea of "infinite divisibility". The
basic concept of the theory was that you could take any object, cut it in half, cut those halves in half,
and so on until you reached the end of the divisibility process and were left with only particles, or
"elements" as he called them. The first conclusion he drew from this theory was that the elements
were essentially nothing, which meant that the sum of all the pieces made the whole object nothing.
The second conclusion was that the elements were something but that they had no size, which meant
that the sum of the whole object also had no size. The last conclusion was that the elements are
something and they do have a size. But that would mean that you would never reach the end of the

The Stata And Hlm Software

(including public, private, and charter schools) were sampled in the first stage and in the second
stage 25, 206 students selected in 50 states in the District of Columbia (Ingels et al., 2011, 2014).
There were approximately 27 students selected per school. To cater for the complex sampling, the
data include weights (students weights, parent weights, teacher weights, counselor weights, and
school weights) that should be used to account for the sampling and non–response at the two stages
of the data collecting process. For these reasons STATA and HLM software will be used in the data
analysis process because these software can be used with weights and correction of standard error.
The HSLS has missing data that has been cleaned and the analysis process made easier because the
data includes variables in which imputation methods (weighted sequential hot–deck [WSHD] were
used to replace the missing data (see Ingels et al., 2011, 2014). To answer the first research question

Egyptian Creation Myth Vs Greek Mythology
Myths are clearly important to a mythology, and there always seems to be two very important myths
one needs to know about in a mythology. How they believe the earth and the gods came to be and
the afterlife for the mortals. The Egyptian creation myth is not very detailed, most likely due to how
it was originally written and years of being told and retold. According to Donald A. Mackenzie, in
the book Egyptian Myth and Legend, Ra was the first god and was the one who created or helped
created the original eight deities. Shu (god of wind and air), Tefnut (goddess of rain), Seb (god of
the earth or ground), and Nut (goddess of firmament) where the first four gods, then Seb and Nut
created Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nephthys (1–2). Though in some tellings ... Show more content on

Alexander Eliot, who wrote the book Myth, states that in the creation of the begin with Gaea, who is
considered the goddess of the earth and is the earth itself (82). Gaea and her husband, Uranus (who
was the god of the sky) filled the lands with their children. But Uranus did not love his kids, in fact,
he hated them so much that he had them locked away within Gaea. Among these children were the
Titans, and Gaea begged for them to get rid of Uranus so that they could roam free. The youngest
Titan named Cronus agreed to get rid of his father and took sickle from his mother before heading
above ground. Once he found Uranus, Cronus chopped him into small pieces and scattered him
around the earth, which sprouted furies from his blood and Aphrodite from his testicles. Before he
died though, Uranus told Cronus that Cronus's own son would take down Cronus. Due to his father's
words, Cronus would eat his kids as soon as they were born in order to remain in power. However,
Rhea, Cronus's wife, tricked him into eating a rock wrapped in a blanket instead of devouring Zeus
and years later Zeus overthrew Cronus (82). Now, there are clear differences between the two myths
such as one being much more detailed than the other and in the Egyptian myth the gods were created
and there was nothing before them. But there is one theme that connects the Greek's myth about
creation and the Egyptian myth about Isis, Ra, and the Snake. The idea of power and doing anything
to get it. Isis was more than willing to almost kill her grandfather and/or her creator to be more
powerful. Uranus locked away his kids, then Cronus ate his kids to stop from being overthrown.
Ironically, the underworld and judgment is not as harsh as the creation of the world, granted it is not
the particularly great either. The book was

Because of this, lines are typically skewed against the road team. However, keep in mind that not all

2. Determine whether each of these sets is finite, countably infinite, or uncountable. For those that
are countably infinite, exhibit a one–to–one correspondence between the set of positive integers and
that set.
a. The integers greater than 10.
This is countably infinite.
Starting from the first integer greater than 10, which is 11, one can infinitely count upwards since
there is no boundary on the right side of the number line for this instance.
The equation ƒ(x) = x + 11 can be used to show a one–to–one correspondence. x: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...
ƒ(x): 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 ...
b. The odd negative integers.

a. Integers not divisible by 3.
This set is countable.
The integers in the set are ±1, ±2, ±4, ±5, ±7, and so on.
We can list these numbers in the order 1, −1, 2, −2, 4, −4, 5, −5, 7, −7, ... , thereby establishing the
desired correspondence. x: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, ...
ƒ(x): 1, –1, 2, –2, 3, –3, ...
b. Integers divisible by 5 but not by 7.
This is countably infinite.
This is similar to part (a); we can simply list the elements of the set in order of increasing absolute
value, listing each positive term before its corresponding negative: (x): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9...
ƒ(x): 5, –5, 10, –10, 15, –15, 20, –20, 25, –25, 30, –30 40, –40, ...
c. The real numbers with decimal representations consisting of all 1s.
This set is countable but a little tricky.
We can arrange the numbers in a 2–dimensional table as follows:
Thus we have shown that our set is the countable union of countable sets (each of the countable sets
is one row of this table).
Therefore by Exercise 27, the entire set is countable.
For an explicit correspondence with the positive integers, we can zigzag along the positive–sloping
diagonals as in Figure 3: 1↔ .1 , 2↔ 1.1 , 3↔.1, 4↔.11, 5↔1, and so on.
d. The real numbers with decimal representations of all 1s or 9s.
This set is not countable.
We can prove it by the same diagonalization argument as was used to prove that the set of all reals is
uncountable in Example 5.
All we need to do is choose di =

Ancient Egypt Similarities
Religion had always been an important object in people's lives for decades. Each religion had its
own beliefs, rituals, and gods. In Ancient Egypt, there were multiple gods who control different
places. Their religion also includes magic, mythology, and science. The people in Egypt believed
life on Earth is only part of the eternal journey. They needed to live an earnest life on Earth and
continue their journey in the afterlife. People in Egypt hinge on each other to complete their task and
produce pleasure as it was the will of the gods. The Egyptians worship every single god and earn
good deeds while they were alive, because they wanted to continue their journey after they die. Each
Egyptian god performed on different tasks, because there were too many tasks for just one god to
handle and each god had their own abilities. Nevertheless, it made Egypt better by performing the
tasks efficiently. There were over 2000 different Egyptian gods, their similarities were the ways they
looked like. They all had human body with a head of an animal or a bird. People in Egypt believed
those animals had divine powers, therefore, those animals were often buried with decorated grave
and near human. The gods started from the nine gods of Ennead. The sun god and eight of his off

Anubis In Ancient Egypt
In very ancient Egyptian history, Anubis was once called "Duat" and was the supreme ruler of the

Kind've unfair, since this pickle guy just straight up stole Anubis's place as ruler.
Anubis was reassigned to "God of Embalming", which is just depressing. In ancient Egypt, Anubis
is being represented by priests wearing masks of jackals, as a tribute to Anubis while mummifying
corpses. And, this leads me to another fact about Anubis, his jackal head. The reason this exists is
because jackals were commonly found in cemeteries, and the people of ancient Egypt thought they
were protecting the dead bodies, so, as time went on (only like 9 years lets just

There's no denying that education is constantly changing, but what's truly astounding is the
difference that can be throughout the years in math. More is changing in math classrooms than the
tools that are used. The expectations that 21st century students face are completely transforming the
approach that's being taken in classrooms across America. The United States wants to make sure its
students are ready to compete on a global level, and teachers are stepping up to the plate. The

Students need to understand the reasoning behind the way math works, these standards put this into
practice. A second groundbreaking document released by the National Council of Teachers
Mathematics was Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics. This set of standards
"present[s] a vision of what teaching should entail to support the changes in curriculum set out in the
Curriculum and Evaluation Standards. This document spells out what teachers need to know to teach
toward new goals for mathematics education and how teaching should be evaluated for the purpose
of improvement" (Burris). It was essential for this change because it changed how mathematics was
taught. Teachers now had new goals and had different processes of evaluation, which in the end,
resulted in a greater improvement for themselves, and also great academic achievement for students.
"The NCTM followed with the 1995 release of Assessment Standards for Teaching Mathematics.
NCTM produced this important document because new assessment strategies and practices needed
to be developed that will enable teachers and others to assess students' performance in a manner that
reflects the NCTM reform vision for school mathematics" (Burris). This allowed teachers to give
better assessments to their students, which led to them being able to better asses themselves. It was

1. What were your initial reactions to how this group is set up? How have your views changed at
this point, if at all?
I believe for me my initial reactions to how this group was set up is that everyone is in the same
boat. By that I mean nobody (except for the professor) knew what to expect or what could happen.
As I recall one of the initial conversations started at the beginning of the first class was about a
complaint regarding smoking. This seemed to me a half hazard attempt at starting an easy
conversation, but gave little in the way of development of group interaction. This was more of a vent
and didn't strive to develop relationships within the group but rather express a baseline opinion on
what was annoying them that day. We saw that again in this last class when the first initial
conversation had to do with issues about parking. I have noticed a definite change as time has
progressed in how much information people appear to be giving out. My hopes for this class is that
we can avoid going turning this into a complaint forum and get into the grit of each other's personal
lives. Discussing things like deepest fears, or worse things that have happened to individuals and
how they coped with them would be more in line with what I would hope to expect from this group.
My views are that the group is slowly opening up, but in a class that only meets once a week it is not
moving fast enough.

Osiris Role In Ancient Egyptian Religion
Osiris was a god who originates from ancient Egypt. Osiris is most famous for being the patron
deity of death, the afterlife, and resurrection, but this was not always the case. As stated in Isis'
character summary, Osiris was formerly the patron of civilization and advancement preceding his
untimely murder at the hands of Seth, his evil and dastardly brother. After Osiris' demise, the
civilization god transformed into the god of death and the afterlife. Though Osiris' death did cause a
shift in what he oversaw, his role as the god of the underworld played a major and influential part in
the ancient Egyptian religion. His influence stretches from the time a person dies and is properly
buried in a sarcophagus to when they stand before the 42 assessor gods who are each ... Show more

These declarations of innocence exhibit what ancient Egyptians thought were actions that would
make someone impure and socially dirty. Even after endless trials and ordeals the deceased must
undergo, Osiris still has full authority over who can be admitted to his realm and who's soul will
dissipate and cease to exist. Osiris is described as a male who adorns an Atef Crown, which is a
primitive Egyptian symbol for rule of the underworld. Green–black skin covers the outer layers of
this divinity, and in his hand he holds an ostrich feather, which is similar to an Ankh in its meaning,
and a crook and flail. These two objects are commonly seen as symbols of Osiris. The crook, which
is the curved object in Osiris' right hand that is similar to the sickle in its shape, is defined as a sign
of kingship, and the flail, which is an agrarian tool that Osiris holds in his left hand, is defined as a
sign of the fertility of Egyptian land. These two objects show the kingship and power that Osiris

Infinity : A Discussion On The History, Variations, And...
A Discussion on the History, Variations, and Applications of Infinity
Infinity is perhaps one of the most frequently encountered idea in today's world. This concept of
endlessness is what people normally associate with when discussing infinity, and it has become
something that we have integrated into everyday language. Although it may seem to be simple
concept, infinity is actually a widely debated and argued topic, and it has shown to be more complex
than it initially appears to be. There are many types of infinities and over the years, people have
studied, proved, analyzed, and applied the concepts of infinities. It is important to note that,
although infinity is essential to mathematics, there exist types of infinity beyond the ... Show more

From Pythagoras' standpoint, the whole world can be described and defined by a finite set of natural
numbers. This is almost ironic because part of his Pythagorean Theorem results in Pythagorean
triplets, which includes numbers such as √2, which require an understanding of infinity in order to
define (Rucker). On the other hand, Aristotle acknowledged that there existed concepts that point
towards the existence of infinite, but that would contradict his defined and finite world. So, in order
to handle these cases, he came up with the idea of labeling sets as "potentially infinite" and not
"actually infinite." An example of this is the set of integers {1,2,3...}, where Aristotle claims that
they can be "potentially infinite" but not "actually infinite" (Allen). Essentially, Aristotle would
simply deny the existence of an actually infinite set. At this time, people were beginning to study the
notion of infinite more deeply and one of the forefront mathematicians to tackle infinity was Zeno.
Zeno is most well known for his paradoxes that primarily look at infinity via the physical world. His
first paradox deals with dichotomy, or the idea that one must first reach the halfway mark of a
certain point, and then the halfway point of the halfway point, and so on. In terms of a sequence,
dichotomy can be described as the sequence: {...1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1}. Zeno's other paradoxes are
the Achilles and the tortoise paradox,

I Am Isis, Goddess Of Motherhood And Love

many allies who would eventually help him get rid of Osiris. When news of my brothers arrival

Cardinality In Blind Children

  • 1. Cardinality in Blind Children Aim, objective and Hypothesis The current study set out to explore the generalisability of counting behaviour and the understanding of the cardinal principle in blind children. To date, research in this area has focused mainly on typically developing children. Some researchers have undertaken studies in the atypical population; however, this is limited to disorders such as Down syndrome (Caycho, Gunn & Siegal, 1991), mental retardation (Baroody, 1986) and severe learning difficulties (Porter, 1998). Therefore, children with visual impairment have not been given much attention in this field of research. The aim of the first experiment will be to observe whether children are able to count objects with varying degree of manipulation and mode of input, to assert the numerosity of the count. These entail counting objects than can and cannot be separated from those that have been counted, as well as the counting of sounds. The second experiment is designed to confirm the findings of experiment one; hence, children who understood the cardinal principle will be able to detect error made by others in counting. A further aim of the study will be to investigate whether smaller number words are acquired before larger ones, as it is the case in typically developing children. The researcher hypothesised that blind children's development will be slightly delayed in the younger age group, but will not show significant differences in the older age group when compared to typically ... • 3. Osiris Thesis Osiris is the first child of Nut and Geb. This makes the siblings of Osiris Seth, Nephthys, and Isis. Osiris married Isis, and they had one son Horus. One day, Nephthys took the form of Isis. Osiris had another child, and his name was Anubis. Since Osiris was the firstborn son, he became the king after Geb's death. He ruled Egypt with his sister and wife Isis. During Geb's reign, the people of Egypt were uncivilized and cannibals. Osiris was disgusted and ended that. He civilized the people of Egypt by teaching them what to eat, the art of agriculture, how to worship the gods, and he set up laws for the citizens. The god Thoth also helped by inventing the arts and sciences and naming things. Osiris was then known as the best king of Egyptian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Developmental Math Syllabus Essay 1 I teach developmental mathematics courses for struggling math students at the Community College of Philadelphia. For many students, this is where the community college experience begins – in a remedial arithmetic or algebra class, reviewing mathematics concepts they learned, or should have learned, before they graduated from high school. As I reviewed the course syllabus and class requirements on the first day of a new semester, Scott, an older male student shouted out a barrage of questions: "What do we need this for? Can we take tests over? How many classes can we miss?" His tone was hostile, and all eyes were fixed on me and my reaction. As a veteran educator and leader with over 12 years ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I teach in a computer lab and incorporate technology in the classroom. I use a supplemental online program by Pearson Education, Math Lab Plus (MLP), to reinforce the material. The program has an online discussion component. To foster a sense of community in the classroom, the first assignment I post is for students to write a brief bio about themselves, including their goals and aspirations for taking the course. I respond to each entry to make sure students know they are seen and heard and that I care about their success. As part of their participation grade, students are required to respond to two other students in the course. This helps them recognize they are part of a community of learners and not just another student lost in the crowd. Students are placed in cooperative learning groups where they work with a partner to improve their understanding of different math concepts. Additionally, I use a toolbox of leadership strategies that are implemented throughout the semester including: reflective practice, naming and reframing the questions that arise and analyze the results, integrating theory into practice. Carl Buehner said, "They may forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel." I meet monthly with some of my colleagues to discuss and review how we can become more effective leaders. Currently, we are exploring Angela Duckworth's work looking at how we can instill ... • 7. Osiris: The Egyptian God Of Death, The Underworld And Rebirth Osiris is the Egyptian god of death, the Underworld and Rebirth. He was killed by his brother, Seth, who was jealous. After his death, he became the King of the Underworld. ( Linda Alchin, 2015). According to Linda Alchin, ¨He was the consort of Isis, who was also his sister. His famous sons were Horus by Isis and Anubis by his other sister, Nephthys.¨ Osiris was son to Geb and Nut, who also were parents to Seth, Isis, and Nephthys. ( Lisa Springer and Neil Morris, 2010) According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, ¨ he was a local god of Busiris, in Lower Egypt,¨. The myth is Osiris was killed by his brother Seth. Osiris had left for King business, and left his wife and sister behind with his brother Seth. Isis knew Seth wanted to get rid of Osiris. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Traversal Of The Infinite Finiteness has to do with the existence of boundaries. Intuitively, we feel that where there is a separation, a border, a threshold – there is bound to be at least one thing finite out of a minimum of two. This, of course, is not true. Two infinite things can share a boundary. Infinity does not imply symmetry, let alone isotropy. An entity can be infinite to its "left" – and bounded on its right. Moreover, finiteness can exist where no boundaries can. Take a sphere: it is finite, yet we can continue to draw a line on its surface infinitely. The "boundary", in this case, is conceptual and arbitrary: if a line drawn on the surface of a sphere were to reach its starting point – then it is finite. Its starting point is the boundary, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The second thesis is that every substance is made up of simpler substances. The two mathematical antinomies relate to the infinite. The answer to the first is: "Since the world does not exist in itself (detached from the infinite regression), it exists unto itself neither as a finite whole nor as an infinite whole." Indeed, if we think about the world as an object, it is only logical to study its size and origins. But in doing so, we attribute to it features derived from our thinking, not affixed by any objective reality. Kant made no serious attempt to distinguish the infinite from the infinite regression series, which led to the antinomies. Paradoxes are the offspring of problems with language. Philosophers used infinite regression to attack both the notions of finiteness (Zeno) and of infinity. Ryle, for instance, suggested the following paradox: voluntary acts are caused by wilful acts. If the latter were voluntary, then other, preceding, wilful acts will have to be postulated to cause them and so on ad infinitum and ad nauseam. Either the definition is wrong (voluntary acts are not caused by wilful acts) or wilful acts are involuntary. Both conclusions are, naturally, unacceptable. Infinity leads to unacceptable conclusions is the not so hidden message. Zeno used infinite series to attack the notion of finiteness and to demonstrate that finite things are made of infinite quantities of ever–smaller things. Anaxagoras said that there is no "smallest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Isis Nursing Horus Essay Tommy Adeosun ART2700 November 20, 2014 Mrs. King Isis Nursing Horus After learning so much about ancient Greece and many other ancient cultures from different parts of the world in class. In this essay I will analyze the artwork by giving a full 360 degree description of the work and every detail. I will also relate it to work we have studied in class. The work I will analyze is found at the Walters Art Museum, in Baltimore, Maryland. The title of the work is Isis Nursing Horus, an Egyptian artwork dated between 680–640 BCE. This is a three dimensional volume statuette bronze seated statue of Isis nursing Horus. The statuette currently sits at Walters Museum, Baltimore, Maryland. The measurement of this artwork is 215/8x 57/8x 91/4. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The artwork is simplified, not too many extreme details included compared to some of the work with complex details of the Vikings in early medieval times. The artist makes the sculpture simple. The artwork is very rounded, no jagged or edgy parts of the sculpture, almost a smooth transition all around and smooth. Proportions of the sculpture seems about right, with regard to length of Isis and Horus. The sculptor gives Isis full feminine shapes, giving her curves at the right place and proper recognizable feminine organs. The artwork is unrealistic for two major reasons, its highly simplified and non–representational for of art. The reason the artwork is highly simplified is that, there are not a lot of details on the sculpture of Isis nursing Horus, her hands are simple for texture of any sorts. The reason it is non– representational for of art is because, the clothing she is wearing, is plain, secondly Horus looks too stiff to be considered a representation of a toddler, who are often chubby with soft skin. For the reminder of the essay I will analyze and discuss the iconography in the sculpture and how some of the work in this object relates to several works studied in ... • 15. Egypt's Myth In The Movie Gods Of Egypt From the trailer, Gods of Egypt released in 2016, seems to be an action–packed retelling of the iconic battle between Horus and Set. But in reality, the movie is loosely based on actual Egyptian mythology. It is fascinating to see the differences between the film, and mythology. As well as analyze the movie's message, and how the movie uses myth to deliver that message. The movie Gods of Egypt and the original myths detailing Osiris and Horus's lives are incredibly different. In the tale, Osiris's death occurs a lot differently. In the myth, Set, his brother invites him to a banquet to celebrate the 28th year of his reign. Set has a beautiful chest made of cedar wood inlaid with ebony and ivory that is made precisely to Osiris's measurements, and proposes a contest; that, whoever can fit into the chest perfectly, will have it gifted to them. One by one, seventy–two of his secret accomplices attempt to fit into it for show, and not surprisingly none of them fit. Set persuades Osiris into participating in the contest and fits perfectly. Right before he can savour his victory, the accomplices' slam down the lid, nail it shut and lap it around with molten lead. The co– conspirators then throw him into the Nile to die. In the movie, they are celebrating Horus's coronation, which is interesting considering in the myth, Horus isn't born until after Osiris is dead. Nonetheless Set shows up to honour him as well, but has other intentions. In the middle of the coronation, his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Reflection On Group Dynamics This is my first semester at City Tech. When I signed up for the group dynamics class I expected to have some difficulties. Prior to this class I worked on various group projects and for the most part it was a wreck. The information given was unclear, members were not focused and/ or the professor was too busy to help. As a result, I ended up doing all the work and not feeling confident in my projects. This class on the other hand, has been totally different. The group that I am in is extremely unique. We all have different ideas but we come together as a group to accomplish the task at hand. The commitment of the group members has never been an issue. Our Professor is Nicole Borger, she has a great attitude and is extremely down to earth. She is approachable and willing to assist her student's. For instance, after the midterm, the class and the professor agreed that we didn't do well. We discussed our issues and ways to review for the next exam. Due to, professor Borger attitude, I am confident that the class will do exceptionally well. Both the group and the professor are clear on the purpose of the class and, what is expected from each other. In conclusion, this class has changed my perspective about working in a group. Since my prior experience with groups was so unsettling, I believed that all groups were going to be the same. However, this class has made it possible to believe that there are groups that respect and take into consideration other members' ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Communication Class I Loved It Essay Within this communication class I loved it. Although of course it was hard to handle when Thurman passed away. I believe when you took over the class, you did a wonderful job. I really liked that you did not have examines because they give me anxiety and I do believe they are just a part of memorization as well. Although you did have unlimited attempts on the quizzes online I personally thought they were somewhat difficult. I do believe they should be challenging of course due to the fact that they are there to see if we understood the material, but it was hard to do well on some of the quizzes due to the difficulty. I did like that you did the unlimited quizzes though because they would give the opportunity for me to go back and see what I did wrong and helped me understand the material better. As for the presentations I really liked that you were not so strict about them in a way and you always after the speech told me I did well. It boosted my confidence every time you told me that I did well and it was much appreciated. When you made the atmosphere in the class seem more relaxed during presentations and not so harsh it made the experience more calm and it made me feel more comfortable. One thing I would have liked to have was more time between speeches though. I just felt like they were so crammed together that there was not much time to prepare for them. I would try as much as could to prepare so that all my speeches would sound natural and flow well and so I could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Osiris: The Ancient Egyptian God Osiris also known as Asir was the first son of Geb and Nut and the brother of Set, Horus, Isis and Nepthys. He was one of the most prominent gods of the Heliopolitan Ennead, but his worship predated the development of this fairly complex philosophy. Although Atum was installed as the head of the Ennead by the priests of Heliopolis, Osiris was considered to be the king of the underworld, and is the only deity who is referred to simply as god. This gives us some indication of his prominence and popularity.Osiris was the ancient Egyptian god of the dead the underworld, and the afterlife. • 23. Imagery Of Amulets : The Eye Of Horus, Or Wedjet ( Fig ) The imagery of amulets is repeated throughout the excavated Ancient Egyptian tombs, such as that of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen of the 18th dynasty. It is clear these amulets played a crucial role in the mummification process. One of the most well known and intricately defined amulets is the Eye of Horus. It has an extensive religious meaning as well as a thorough and complex belief system to support its importance. The story behind the Eye of Horus has been the greatest influence behind the famous funerary processes of Ancient Egypt. The Eye of Horus, or Wedjet (Fig. 1) was a major religious symbol of Ancient Egypt and is still used in modern day life. It depicts a human eye with characteristics of a falcon, however it has a much deeper meaning due to the fact it represents, as the name suggests, the eye of the Horus and the immense history that comes with the name. The concept of Horus originated in around 3000 BCE. This early Egyptian concept depicts Horus as a partial divinity as well as their king. In addition to being the king of Egypt, another concept of Horus existed in which Horus was the lord of the sky. However, these two perceptions were not conflicting and were well accepted by the Egyptians. There is also a more perplexing idea in which there are 2 versions of Horus, Horus the Elder, who becomes the deity Osiris after his death or is also mentioned as the brother of Osiris, and Horus the Son, who is named this due to his familial relation to Osiris. ... • 25. Ancient Egypt : Complex Government And Complex Religions They first started off as hunters and gathers. Then they started to build homes and plant food. They ended Staying in one place instead of traveling. Then their they ended up making the 7 indicators. Well organized government. Every complex religion has to have a well–organized government. In Egypt, there are many important governments. In Egypt, the pharaoh was the ruler. An example is that the pharaoh controlled all the people. Like if he wanted more power he can make a war. Another example is that he would collect taxes and raise the taxes. There were many visors but the first one was important. The first ever visor was Imhotep. He was the leader of the government. The visor was the chief overseer of the land, kind of like a prime minister. The pharaoh did everything in Egypt. • 27. Why Is Mathematics Invented By Humans? With mathematics seemingly being intuitive and the basis of the universe around us it would seem a given that mathematics has always been there, that it is a physical concept which we can completely understand and one that has set rules that cannot change. However this is not the case and we only have to look just over two thousand years into the past to see the use of Roman Numerals, where numbers were represented by letters or four thousand years in the past to see the unrealistic yet beautiful base–60 number system used by the Babylonians to realise that whilst the overall concept is the same, to group things of the same amount together, the way that we express it is vastly different. To address the question, "To what extent was mathematics invented by humans?" we first need to deal with the most simple concept of mathematics, the natural numbers; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.. There is nothing simpler in maths then this, but it took us nearly 165,000 years to even produce a primitive tally stick, the Lebombo bone. Yet it was these numbers more than anything that enabled us to take control of the world around us and let our presence be felt across the globe. But what is a number? It appears to be a fairly easy question yet it is very hard to answer as it is not shown in the physical world, it is an abstraction, a human mental concept, one that is derived from reality but is not actually real, but one which allowed humans to develop and discover new areas of mathematics and ... • 31. Mythology Vs Greek Mythology Throughout human history people around the world have looked upon the stars and pondered their very existence, seeking answers for questions that seem as unanswerable to many: how did we get here, what are we here for, what happens when we die? More often than not theses questions were left unresolved and humanity was forced to find reason in their own existence. Humanity began to look at the world around them for explanation, slowly creating stories that would become the building blocks of religion. These stories or Myths became an extremely important part of cultures all around the world, giving an explanation to questions that once seemed unanswerable. Mythology is often viewed as stories that were only told for entertainment purposes, this could not be farther from the truth. Although they were often used for entertainment purposes mythology in its most basic since is a religious story, this understandably confuses many individuals. This is because mythology is broken down into two key sections, dead mythology and living mythology. Dead mythology is what most individuals think of when hearing the term mythology today, these are stories of the past that were once held as truth but are no longer practiced. While living mythology refers to the religious stories we see in our day to day lives. While the Greek and Norse mythology is considered dead mythology Abrahamic text such as the Bible, Torah, Karan all fit the definition of living mythology. This is because theses ... Lastly, I will tell how the sums compare to one another. Definition So what exactly is a graph sequence? A graph sequence is basically a set of discreet points on a graph. So they are basically the points that we plot on a graph. The recursion formulas are the nth number term of a sequence. It is the function of the term and can also define sequences using the recursion formulas. The recursion formula looks something like this; an = 1/n. The last definition that I will cover is the arithmetic sequence. The arithmetic sequence is defined as a sequence in which each term after the first differs from the preceding term by a constant amount. An example of how the formula would ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To solve this is very simple just add 5836 + 6185 + 6585 + 7020 = 25,626. So our answer to Part A is $25,626. For Part B we would use the arithmetic sequence formula to solve this problem. In this problem n = the number of years. We are going to use the formula provided an = 395n + 5419. So our first problem will look like this; a (1) = 395 (1) + 5419 = 5814. The second year, a (2) = 395 (2) + 5419 = 6209. The third year; a (3) = 395 (3) + 5419 = 6604. The fourth year, a (4) = 395 (4) + 5419 = 6999. So now we have the sums of all four years. Which are: 5814, 6209, 6604, and 6999. To solve for Part B we will be using the formula given Sn = (n/2) (a1 + an). So, a1 = the first year sum, n= the fourth year and fourth year sum. This is how the problem looks written out with the correct numbers plugged in S4 = 4/2 (5814 + 6999). So to get this answer you will simply divide 2 into 4 and you get 2 or 4/2 = 2. Then you add the sums in the parenthesis or (5814 + 6999) = 12813. Finally you will multiply 2(12813) and get ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. Correlation Between Network And Network Interaction points of spatial networks are linked to each other by what the writer's term as channels, and they're the paths through which material is transported. A definite sequence of linked edges in spatially embedded graph will form a channel. As you look at figure 1a, the roads are your channels, the pipeline network pipes, and tracks in railway networks are different examples of channels. The channels of which the writers have termed have exactly two end points, where the end points of a channel can intersect with other channels or they can remain free. An example of this is: one of the channel l3 end points intersects with the channel l7 at the point of j6. On the other hand, the end point will not intersect with any other channel, it will represents a dead end. This dead end can be considered as an extremity of a network, so they call it boundary of the network. So if you direct your attention to figure 1b you can see that all the points marked by hollow circles are boundary points for the network. Channels cannot only specified by geometry of edges, it can also be defined by a names attached to the geometry. Example: highway Interstate 75 cannot be recognized in a network by its geometry alone. In order to identify it, you will have to locate every point in the Euclidean plane which have the name Interstate 75. In their model of spatial networks, they assigned thematic attribute values to every point of a channel. Now the attribute values can be used to recognize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Charles Tilly argued that state–making is the process by which state–makers eliminate other hostile or adverse powerful men within a given territory. State–makers are the power holders in society such as kings or landowners . In "Bringing the State Back" (Tilly, Charles. 172) Tilly argues that states are formed through a capricious and unintentional process by which state–makers enforce war in the pursuit of territory, human population and scarce resources. Tilly says that state–makers did not take part in the pivotal and costly tasks of war–making, extraction and capital accumulation with a mind set of ultimately forming a state. Rather, Tilly argued that the pursuit of resources for war–making, capital accumulation and extraction was required to gain territory, money and human population. Tilly describes capital accumulation as the process of investing money into warfare in return for future profits or benefits. Lastly, Tilly defines extraction as acquiring means such as population, money or weaponry to carry out the initial war–making process. Modern day rebel militant forces such as ISIS and the Taliban support Tilly's explanation of state–making, however ISIS challenges the aspect of unintentional state–making, as it ultimately envisages the emergence of a state once the war–making is over. Mathematics Subject Classification: 08A72, 20N25, 03E72. 1.Introduction In 1965, Zadeh.L.A[16] introduced the study of fuzzy sets. Mathematically a fuzzy set on a set X is a mapping µ into [0, 1] of real numbers; for x in X, µ(x) is called the membership of x belonging to X. The membership function gives only an approximation for belonging but it does not give any information of not belonging. To overcome this, Gau.W.L and Buehrer.D.J[7] introduced the concept of vague sets. A vague set A of a set X is a pair of functions (tA,fA), where tA and fA are fuzzy sets on X satisfying tA(x)+fA(x)≤1, ∀ x ∈ X. A fuzzy set tA of X ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is up to teachers to give students the skills to set up and solve algorithms that will help to build their math confidence and motivate them to expand on what they have learned. Teaching the concept of integers and number theory is a fundamental part of math curriculum. The ability of a professional mathematics teacher to tie in real world experiences, using hand on activities and manipulatives is essential in enabling students to build on mathematic ideas and understand how they interconnect. Also important is the concept of rational numbers as fractions, decimals, and real numbers. Teachers need to help ease the transition from whole numbers by clearly explaining the new rules and definitions students are unfamiliar with. By teaching the importance of ratios, proportions, proportional reasoning, percents, and their real life applications, teachers are giving students the skills they need to become productive members of society. Proportional reasoning is one of the big ideas in math and if students are able to grasp this concept, they will be able to apply it in many instances in their lives. Teachers can assist students with this by providing interesting, well thought out problems that represent situations students will encounter in the future. • 51. Aristotle 's Ideas Of Potential Infinity Aristotle supported the idea of "potential infinity" but refuted the idea of "actual infinity". He defined potential infinity by saying if you are counting natural numbers, logic would tell us that we can always add one to the previous number and that can potentially go on forever. He also said that we could potentially use this logic in geometry if we imagined a line that extended beyond both points with no recognizable end. On the contrary, actual infinity seems paradoxical because even if we had an infinite number of "things" in a category then infinity would still be "whole" in a sense with a beginning and an end. Aristotle's ideas were supported for many centuries ("Aristotle", n.d.). The philosopher Zeno of Elea (495–435 B.C.E.) came up with the idea of "infinite divisibility". The basic concept of the theory was that you could take any object, cut it in half, cut those halves in half, and so on until you reached the end of the divisibility process and were left with only particles, or "elements" as he called them. The first conclusion he drew from this theory was that the elements were essentially nothing, which meant that the sum of all the pieces made the whole object nothing. The second conclusion was that the elements were something but that they had no size, which meant that the sum of the whole object also had no size. The last conclusion was that the elements are something and they do have a size. But that would mean that you would never reach the end of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How they believe the earth and the gods came to be and the afterlife for the mortals. The Egyptian creation myth is not very detailed, most likely due to how it was originally written and years of being told and retold. According to Donald A. Mackenzie, in the book Egyptian Myth and Legend, Ra was the first god and was the one who created or helped created the original eight deities. Shu (god of wind and air), Tefnut (goddess of rain), Seb (god of the earth or ground), and Nut (goddess of firmament) where the first four gods, then Seb and Nut created Osiris, Isis, Set, and Nephthys (1–2). Gaea and her husband, Uranus (who was the god of the sky) filled the lands with their children. But Uranus did not love his kids, in fact, he hated them so much that he had them locked away within Gaea. Among these children were the Titans, and Gaea begged for them to get rid of Uranus so that they could roam free. The youngest Titan named Cronus agreed to get rid of his father and took sickle from his mother before heading above ground. Once he found Uranus, Cronus chopped him into small pieces and scattered him around the earth, which sprouted furies from his blood and Aphrodite from his testicles. Before he died though, Uranus told Cronus that Cronus's own son would take down Cronus. Due to his father's words, Cronus would eat his kids as soon as they were born in order to remain in power. However, Rhea, Cronus's wife, tricked him into eating a rock wrapped in a blanket instead of devouring Zeus and years later Zeus overthrew Cronus (82). Now, there are clear differences between the two myths such as one being much more detailed than the other and in the Egyptian myth the gods were created and there was nothing before them. But there is one theme that connects the Greek's myth about creation and the Egyptian myth about Isis, Ra, and the Snake. The idea of power and doing anything to get it. Isis was more than willing to almost kill her grandfather and/or her creator to be more powerful. Uranus locked away his kids, then Cronus ate his kids to stop from being overthrown. • 69. Math in Special Education Essay There's no denying that education is constantly changing, but what's truly astounding is the difference that can be throughout the years in math. More is changing in math classrooms than the tools that are used. The expectations that 21st century students face are completely transforming the approach that's being taken in classrooms across America. The United States wants to make sure its students are ready to compete on a global level, and teachers are stepping up to the plate. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM) has led the movement for education reform in mathematics. The NCTM began in the mid–1970's and was a public voice of mathematics education that supported teachers, and tried to ensure learning of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Students need to understand the reasoning behind the way math works, these standards put this into practice. A second groundbreaking document released by the National Council of Teachers Mathematics was Professional Standards for Teaching Mathematics. This set of standards "present[s] a vision of what teaching should entail to support the changes in curriculum set out in the Curriculum and Evaluation Standards. This document spells out what teachers need to know to teach toward new goals for mathematics education and how teaching should be evaluated for the purpose of improvement" (Burris). It was essential for this change because it changed how mathematics was taught. Teachers now had new goals and had different processes of evaluation, which in the end, resulted in a greater improvement for themselves, and also great academic achievement for students. "The NCTM followed with the 1995 release of Assessment Standards for Teaching Mathematics. NCTM produced this important document because new assessment strategies and practices needed to be developed that will enable teachers and others to assess students' performance in a manner that reflects the NCTM reform vision for school mathematics" (Burris). This allowed teachers to give better assessments to their students, which led to them being able to better asses themselves. It was easier for them to know what they ... • 71. Questions On Initial Reactions And How It Can Your Views... 1. What were your initial reactions to how this group is set up? How have your views changed at this point, if at all? I believe for me my initial reactions to how this group was set up is that everyone is in the same boat. By that I mean nobody (except for the professor) knew what to expect or what could happen. As I recall one of the initial conversations started at the beginning of the first class was about a complaint regarding smoking. This seemed to me a half hazard attempt at starting an easy conversation, but gave little in the way of development of group interaction. This was more of a vent and didn't strive to develop relationships within the group but rather express a baseline opinion on what was annoying them that day. We saw that again in this last class when the first initial conversation had to do with issues about parking. I have noticed a definite change as time has progressed in how much information people appear to be giving out. My hopes for this class is that we can avoid going turning this into a complaint forum and get into the grit of each other's personal lives. Discussing things like deepest fears, or worse things that have happened to individuals and how they coped with them would be more in line with what I would hope to expect from this group. My views are that the group is slowly opening up, but in a class that only meets once a week it is not moving fast enough. 2. What is one quality of communication in our group, if any, that you would like ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 73. Osiris Role In Ancient Egyptian Religion Osiris was a god who originates from ancient Egypt. Osiris is most famous for being the patron deity of death, the afterlife, and resurrection, but this was not always the case. As stated in Isis' character summary, Osiris was formerly the patron of civilization and advancement preceding his untimely murder at the hands of Seth, his evil and dastardly brother. After Osiris' demise, the civilization god transformed into the god of death and the afterlife. Though Osiris' death did cause a shift in what he oversaw, his role as the god of the underworld played a major and influential part in the ancient Egyptian religion. His influence stretches from the time a person dies and is properly buried in a sarcophagus to when they stand before the 42 assessor gods who are each ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These declarations of innocence exhibit what ancient Egyptians thought were actions that would make someone impure and socially dirty. Even after endless trials and ordeals the deceased must undergo, Osiris still has full authority over who can be admitted to his realm and who's soul will dissipate and cease to exist. Osiris is described as a male who adorns an Atef Crown, which is a primitive Egyptian symbol for rule of the underworld. Green–black skin covers the outer layers of this divinity, and in his hand he holds an ostrich feather, which is similar to an Ankh in its meaning, and a crook and flail. These two objects are commonly seen as symbols of Osiris. The crook, which is the curved object in Osiris' right hand that is similar to the sickle in its shape, is defined as a sign of kingship, and the flail, which is an agrarian tool that Osiris holds in his left hand, is defined as a sign of the fertility of Egyptian land. These two objects show the kingship and power that Osiris held over the souls he held in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 75. Infinity : A Discussion On The History, Variations, And... A Discussion on the History, Variations, and Applications of Infinity Infinity is perhaps one of the most frequently encountered idea in today's world. This concept of endlessness is what people normally associate with when discussing infinity, and it has become something that we have integrated into everyday language. Although it may seem to be simple concept, infinity is actually a widely debated and argued topic, and it has shown to be more complex than it initially appears to be. There are many types of infinities and over the years, people have studied, proved, analyzed, and applied the concepts of infinities. It is important to note that, although infinity is essential to mathematics, there exist types of infinity beyond the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From Pythagoras' standpoint, the whole world can be described and defined by a finite set of natural numbers. This is almost ironic because part of his Pythagorean Theorem results in Pythagorean triplets, which includes numbers such as √2, which require an understanding of infinity in order to define (Rucker). On the other hand, Aristotle acknowledged that there existed concepts that point towards the existence of infinite, but that would contradict his defined and finite world. So, in order to handle these cases, he came up with the idea of labeling sets as "potentially infinite" and not "actually infinite." An example of this is the set of integers {1,2,3...}, where Aristotle claims that they can be "potentially infinite" but not "actually infinite" (Allen). Essentially, Aristotle would simply deny the existence of an actually infinite set. At this time, people were beginning to study the notion of infinite more deeply and one of the forefront mathematicians to tackle infinity was Zeno. Zeno is most well known for his paradoxes that primarily look at infinity via the physical world. His first paradox deals with dichotomy, or the idea that one must first reach the halfway mark of a certain point, and then the halfway point of the halfway point, and so on. In terms of a sequence, dichotomy can be described as the sequence: {...1/16, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1}. Zeno's other paradoxes are the Achilles and the tortoise paradox, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 77. I Am Isis, Goddess Of Motherhood And Love I am Isis, goddess of motherhood and love. I am going to tell you the story of how my loving husband Osiris became God and Judge of the Dead and how his death was avenged. It all started when my mother Nut the sky goddess and my father Geb the Earth god had four children including me. I have two brothers Osiris God of order, culture and civilization and Set God of the darkness and one sister Nephthys. When my father Geb retired into the heavens my brother Osiris took his place as king and took me as his consort. My husband made Egypt flourish and taught many how to farm, enjoy music, and created a legal code for the people to follow. With Egypt flourishing my brother Set became envious of Osiris. Osiris was the oldest one of us and he had the warmest soul. When he believed that Egypt was in standing order he decided to journey off and civilize the rest of the world. In his absence, I kept Egypt flourished and reined as queen of Egypt. Although Egypt was prospering my brother Set, filled with darkness straight down to the bone, began planning a way to get rid of Osiris. Although I did not know this at the time, Set went behind Osiris's back and used bribery and cunning to gain many allies who would eventually help him get rid of Osiris. When news of my brothers arrival spread throughout Egypt Set held a banquet and invited everyone to come. After the festivities Set took out a marvelous chest and spoke "whomever fits inside this chest becomes its new owner". After numerous ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
