The Purpose Of This Organizational Assessment Paper Is
The purpose of this organizational assessment paper is to provide a clear unbiased analysis of my
place of employment. I began my employment at the Human Behavioral Institute (HBI) in Las
Vegas under the supervision of Dr. Marie Cid and Dr. Anis Abi–Karam on August 17, 2009. To date
I have averaged approximately thirty–two hours per week of face–to–face contact with clients.
1. Assess the Organization's Programs and Services
a. What programs and services are offered? What populations are served by the
agency/organization?
I have been exposed to numerous areas including individual and group therapy, diagnostic
evaluation, and clinical report writing. I have also been exposed to several specialized areas
including geriatrics, substance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
b. Are service goals and objectives based on empirical research? If so, describe/discuss. If not,
discuss what possible issues this may present.
Yes, treatment plans are progressive and clients receive services in multiple formats based on the
client need. For example, a client may receive individual therapy and homebased services as needed.
c. Are the services consistent with the goals and objectives of the program?
Yes, this organization is a full service behavioral health service agency, but also an accredited
utilization management company as well. The purpose of this organization is to manage and provide
clinical mental health services to clients throughout the state of Nevada. HBI's goal is to provide
direct clinical services in the two major metropolitan areas in the state, Las Vegas, and Reno.
However, the utilization management portion of the agency provides services throughout the state in
its direct management of the psychiatric health services for the HPN smart choice Medicaid
program. The overall objectives and goal of the company are to provide clinically and cost effective
mental health services.
d. Are workload expectations reasonable given expectations for achievement with each client and
within each service and program?

Casino Industry in Macau
The Casino Industry in Macau
Research Question
I intend to evaluate the Casino Industry in Macau including the reasons for its high demand and
growing success and compare it to the Casino Industry in Las Vegas.
The gaming industry is the livelihood of Macau. It is responsible for 75% of the government's
income and provides the people of Macau with millions of jobs. Even though gambling was first
legalized under Portuguese rule to finance the government, it remains the same under Chinese rule
today. The rules and regulations set forth oversee the casino industry and grant companies with
casino concessions. It is dramatically more profitable than Las Vegas because of the devastating
effects of the American Recession.

This only attracted more tourists to the country and encouraged locals to gamble more. The
construction and operation of new casinos also dramatically increased employment rates.
Who Regulates the Casino Industry in Macau? After the casino monopoly ended in 2001, the
government formed rules and regulations that would administer the gaming industry. The dissolution
of the monopoly meant that companies besides STDM were now allowed to build and operate
casinos in Macau. Theses rules and regulations were to ensure that the new casinos were operating
properly and "fairly" (Loughlin and Pannell).
Soon after the monopoly ended, the Legislative Assembly passed a law (No. 16) that clearly
outlined the definition "gambling" and "casino". The law stated what would be acceptable and what
would not be acceptable in terms of gambling in Macau. It also explained the guidelines for the
concession system and the procedure for bidding. In order to enforce these rules and regulations, the
Legislative Assembly established the Casino Commissions Committee. This committee consists of
eight members and is overseen by the Secretary of Economics and Finance. At the time of its
establishment, this man was Francis Tam Pak Yuen.
The bidding process began in November of 2001. The Casinos Commissions Committee started to
give prospective investors information about building a

Essay On Sexually Transmitted Infection
My primary prevention topic is sexually transmitted infection (STI) prevention in Clark County,
Nevada also known as Las Vegas. My target population is between the ages of 15–24 and is not
gender specific. My target population includes the over 2 million residents who live within the 80,61
miles of Clark County and the 39 million yearly visitors. (Nagourney, A. 2013) The demographics
of the residents are noted by the United Sates Census Bureau (2015) as White alone 71.6%,
Hispanic or Latin American 30.6%, Africana American 11.8%, Asian 10.1% Two or more races
4.4%, Native American, and Alaskan Native 1.2% Hawaiian and Pacific Islander 0.8%.

Many people in these groups have compounding barriers to treatment including cost, language
obstacles, mistrust of medical intervention, stigma, and lack of access to information. (Krieger N,
Waterman PD, Chen JT, et al., 2003)
Primary community and prevention resources include the Clark County Health Department Sexual
Health Clinic and private physicians. The Sexual Health Clinic is open to all; there is a $40 charge
for STI screenings. This fee will be placed on account if the patient does not have the funds at the
time of the visit. The clinic does not have a billing system, those with outstanding accounts will
never receive a bill. The clinic will give out prescriptions as needed for treatment. The cost of that
medication will be the responsibility of the patient. The patient that has health care insurance can
seek care in the private physician's office with no charge. Often the needed medications are covered
by health insurance.
The underlying causes of the sharp increase of STI's in Clark County include a combination of
factors, including multiple sexual partners, fewer STI prevention campaigns and increasingly
popular dating apps and websites that make casual sex easier. The constant flow of visitors into and
out of Las Vegas every year makes identify and notify patients of possible infections exposure
impossible. According to Dr. Patricia Kennel of University of Nevada School of Medicine
Obstetrics & Gynecology, there is

Las Vegas Strip Today
Las Vegas today is known as the gaming capital and the sin city of the world. Tourism drives the
economy. About 37 million people visit the city and the spending is a high of USD33.7 billion. At
least 20% of the jobs are gaming related. Even though Las Vegas held the gambling monopoly for
40 years, by 1978, there were over 19 states allowing some form of casino style gambling. However,
Las Vegas continued to outperform the rest of the states. In fact, the Las Vegas Strip's gaming
revenue alone tops the US market. (Refer to Table 1)

The Pros And Cons Of Reno
Reno to Celebrate Sesquicentennial Birthday
In a little more than seven months, on May 9, 2018, Reno will celebrate 150 years as a city in
Nevada. While not the biggest city in Nevada, coming in third behind Las Vegas and Henderson,
Reno is here first. Until the turn of the 20th century, Reno is known as a dusty railroad town with a
population under 5,000. Early Reno is a permissive place that tolerates vices not always embraced
by polite society in other communities. It is a place that seems to turn a blind eye toward scandalous
behavior, a place that is easy to admire and admonish as it is to whisper and gossip about.
Reno is nothing more than a progressive little country town surrounding a peculiar nucleus of
human puzzles. –Leslie Curtis, New York Herald, 1911 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For some people, the title is scandalous. For others, it is seen as progressive. Either way it is a factor
in the early shaping of the identity of the "Biggest Little City". People come from all over the world
to get divorced in Reno and have to stay in Northern Nevada for a minimum of six weeks before
they can legally be divorced. Most others that know of Reno, see it as mining town with a "saloon
crowd" mentality. Reno will benefit greatly from the discovery of silver at Tonopah (1900) and then
two years later, the discovery of gold at Goldfield (as well as a dozen smaller strikes in central

Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. Essay
Individual Case Assignment: Harrah's Entertainment, Inc.
1. What are the objectives of the various Database marketing (DBM) programs and are they
working?
There are two main overall objectives of Harrah's Database marketing (DBM) programs. First,
Harrah's strived to build, increase and retain customers' loyalty to their brand, similar to the way
people tend to be loyal to their mechanic or hair dresser. The strategy to achieve this goal was to
ensure that they crafted and sustained a relationship with their customers and reinforced the
emotional tie with personalized attention and fast service. The second objective piggy–backs on the
first – that customer loyalty will yield incremental business and increase company revenue. ... Show

2. Why is it important to use the "customer worth" in the DBM efforts rather than the observed level
of play?
The case study article defines customer worth as "the theoretical amount the house expects to win,
over the long term, from a customer based on his level of play." This calculation allows Harrah's
management to more strategically analyze and predict a customer's future spending as opposed to
analysis of 'observed level of play' which is only based on a customer's previous spending patterns.
The example contained in this article of Ms. Maranees best exemplifies the benefits of calculating
customer worth as opposed to an observed level of play. Ms. Maranees only played a limited amount
in a short timeframe at Harrah's, so if one were to solely judge her future habits by her observed
level of play during that trip, they likely would not feel that she was a customer worth targeting.
However, in analysis of her customer worth and theoretical wins, it was evident that Ms. Maranees
was likely a very profitable customer who was probably bringing a majority of her business to
Harrah's competition, so it would in fact be advantageous for Harrah's to win her business.
3. How does Harrah's integrate the various elements of its marketing strategy to deliver more than
the results of Database Marketing?
When Gary Loveman was hired as Harrah's COO, one of his goals was to change the focus from
bringing customers in to individual Harrah's locations

How Gambling Can Kill You Faster Than Drug Abuse Or Alcohol
There are a lot of dangers when it comes to gambling, since gambling is a legal vice with a
profitable basis that drives the development of the industry. Usually, a gambling addiction is
commonly considered a hidden problem; a gambling addict does not display the obvious physical
signs and symptoms of a drug or alcohol addict. Loved ones are often blindsided by the
consequences of a gambling addiction, realizing the problem only after the person has spent huge
sums of money and incurred significant debts. In the Article "How Gambling Can Kill You Faster
Than Drug Abuse or Alcoholism" from the website AlterNet, Author Chris Write claims "The
suicide rates among gambling addicts are staggeringly high. The National Council on Problem

Strengths Opportunities – Caesars has a well–known brand image, showing a strong presence in the
casino marketing industry. They offer distinct competitive advantages, they are international
allowing guests to travel worldwide and accumulate rewards. They have a wide customer base, due
to the fact they are worldwide, they have business in every culture, for recreation or business.
Finally Caesars has a diversified geographical presence, which their business operation is classified
into seven geographical divisions. (Caesars entertainment corporation (CZR))
b. Weaknesses – Caesars recorded debt to equity ratio of 19.67 at the end of year 2011. (Caesars
entertainment corporation (CZR)). In Caesars Atlantic City, they filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
There are various lawsuits filed against Caesars Entertainment that may impact its bottom–line, and
damage its reputation. Experience could be a weakness, opening up new facilities such as a ski
resort and convention center in Lake Tahoe, when there are other companies there who know the
area and the environment a bit better.

Another recommendation is to create a partnership with a gaming company like zynga to come up
with an online game. If the online game is created, it would be convenient for the reward card
holders to be able to use their cards with this game. In addition to the game creation, it would be
interesting for the casino to come up with amateurs gambling tournaments. This last one could be a
way to bring a new demographic into the casinos.
Potential Obstacles/Risks One of the potential obstacle and or risk of applying some of the
recommendations like investing on the infrastructure could be difficult to rebuild a 50 plus year old
company across the board. Some of the employees could be hesitant to changes. Another possible
obstacle and or risk might the laws and regulations for online gambling that may not allow for a
casino company to create gambling games and being able to bet and receive profits online.

Legalized Gambling Essay
Legalized Gambling
Have you ever wagered on a game? If so you were gambling and should have been fined. Gambling
should be legalized in the state of Florida. The lawmakers, who have decided that it is evil for you
and me to gamble, have justified it as a means to scam billions from citizens in order to compensate
for their mismanagement of tax money. First they waste what they collect in taxes and then recover
the wasted billions with gambling scams to get more, much more. Adding insult to injury, they pass
laws that could put a taxpayer in jail for placing a dollar wager on a pool game. God forbid we
should lose a few dollars to a slippery pool hustler, when we could be hustled legally by the state,

In 1931 Nevada was asking itself "What do we got to lose". The state passed laws that year
legalizing gambling. The first major casinos were opened in Reno. The next 10 years until the 40's
was when Las Vegas really grew. "Clubs arose, neon lights soared the skies and entertainment
engulfed the streets" (Cardoza 7–11). Las Vegas was like no other; it replaced currency with chips,
around the clock gambling and nearly a total absence of clocks. After nearly 50 years in success Las
Vegas finally took on a competitor. In 1978 the state of New Jersey legalized gambling (Cardoza
15–17). Does gambling help our economy? When gambling was approved in New Orleans it created
15,000 new jobs and brought in 25 million in city taxes. In addition, it also brought in 67 million in
state taxes each year. When South Dakota needed $400,000 to replace water lines and another
$50,000 to shape up a failing wall on the reservoir they turned towards gambling. "Nevada offers
both tourism and gaming. If the customers want it, Nevada can and should deliver" (Dambrink 7–9).
Casinos do in fact improve the economy of states. In Mississippi, gaming represented 25% to 33%
of the new jobs created and employed approximately 10,000 people in 1993. The number more than
doubled in 1994 to 28,000 (Solotaroff n.p.). On the Gulf Coast the economy can be summed up in
one word, gambling. A report from the Harrison County Development

The Sparks Heritage Museum is an important architectural facet of the Sparks area. The building

Pros And Cons Of Gambling Addiction
Gambling addiction can be a serious a problem, for some more than others. Some have the self–
control to know when enough is enough, and then some don't. After reading the article it is safe to
say that Mr. Watanabe had some serious issues. Not only did he have a serious gambling problem,
he also had a drinking and drug problem. These two together is not a good combination. This was
not your normal gambling issue, this was the biggest loss in Vegas history of 127 million dollars!
Seeing this from an outsider's perspective, there are two different ways you can look at the situation.
You can either feel sorry for him and feel that he was treated wrongly and unlawfully, or one can
feel no remorse for him and that he brought it all upon himself. After much thought, I have a firm
stance that what was going on in those casinos was one, illegal and two, outright just wrong. Mr.
Watanabe was absolutely taken advantage of.
As a young boy Mr. Watanabe had a wealthy family was a very successful business man and was a
chief executor of his father's business by the age of 20. After years of owning this business he sold it
for millions and decided he wanted to have fun for a while and be stress free. Gambling is fun,
right? He began gambling at a Harrah's casino in Iowa back in 2003. He was one of the casinos
biggest gamblers at the casino and everyone knew him very well there. He had also traveled to
Vegas to gamble and that's where his serious gambling, drug and alcohol abuse began.

Analysis Of The Glass Castle By Jeannette Walls
Jeannette Walls and her out of the ordinary family live their lives surrounded in pure craziness and
poverty. Jeannette has been raised to be more independent than her age would typically allow. At
age three she could make herself a hot dog and by the age of eighteen she had started a new life in
New York away from the craziness that followed her parents throughout their nomadic childhood.
Jeannette and her siblings Lori, Brian and Maureen lived their childhoods with almost nothing. They
were always wondering where their next meal would come from and where their parents had
mysteriously disappeared to. Rex Walls, the father and husband was a severe alcoholic who spent
most of his money on gambling or a beer from a local bar. Rose Mary Walls, the mother and wife
was no better. She was never able to hold onto a job for long enough to get paid allowing her to
support her family. This caused many problems for Rose Mary, Rex and most importantly... the
children. The dysfunctional childhood had the siblings dreaming of escaping the prison their parents
called home and heading to New York or California where they could feel endless happiness. Their
parents offered little guidance so survival depended on becoming independent as quickly as
possible. In The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, Jeannette's parents forced her to only rely on
herself and never become attached to something you can lose. This forced Jeannette to become a
strong and independent person.

Qhetorical Analysis Of Isabella Bird's Lake Tahoe
Journalist, Isabella Bird, in her journal, "Lake Tahoe," expresses her feelings about Lake Tahoe and
the journey there. Bird's purpose is to outline her trip and journey to Lake Tahoe. She adopts a
nostalgic tone in order to express her feelings to her readers.
Bird opens her journal, on September second, by describing what Lake Tahoe looks like in her eyes.
It was "not lovable, like the Sandwich Islands, but beautiful in it's own way!" she is saying that Lake
Tahoe is not beautiful in looks however, it is more beautiful than what meets the eye. "Lake Tahoe is
before me, a sheet of water twenty–two miles long by ten broad, and in some places 1,700 feet deep.
It lies at a height of 6,000 feet and the snow–crowned summits which wall it in are from 8,000 to
11,000 feet in altitude. The air is keen and elastic. There is no sound but the distant and slightly
musical ring of the lumberman's axe." She is describing how Lake Tahoe looks and the atmosphere.

Las Vegas Gambling History
Las Vegas–or "the meadows" as its Spanish name translates–is the largest city in the state of
Nevada. Las Vegas was born in 1905, when William Andrews Clark sold 110 acres of land adjacent
to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks for $265,000. Officially incorporated in 1911, over the course
of just 100 years, the small railroad town grew to become the most populous American city that was
founded in the 20th century. Today, Las Vegas has a population of 603,488 and a wider metropolitan
area of above 2 million, which makes it the 29th largest city in the USA. With 4,000 to 8,000 people
moving here each month, it's also one of the fastest growing cities in the country.
Mostly famous for its mega hotels and casinos, Las Vegas is considered to be the gambling and
entertainment capital of the world. The major events that shaped Las Vegas as a gambling center
occurred in 1931, when the construction of the Hoover Damn began, bringing thousands of workers
into the city. At the same time, the state of Nevada decided to legalize gambling. Consisted solely of
males from across the country, the work force created a market for large scale entertainment. ...

Cal-Ivan Lodge History
Las Vegas, Nevada has always been known as the "City of Sin". There is another Nevada city which
although not nearly as well–known as Las Vegas, also served had its fair share of sin. Just a few
miles from the California border in the north–west part of Nevada lies the town of Reno. Reno
became a stopping point for many gold–rushers on their way to California during the 1840s and 50s.
This small town would eventually become a thriving community that would come to be known as
the "Biggest Little City in the World." The relatively small city of Reno has inspired a number of
books, such as "The Roots of Reno – Northern Nevada's early casinos and the sins it took to build
them" by Al W. Moe, as well as countless articles in newspapers and magazines across the country.
About 45 miles South–west of Reno is the small community of Crystal Bay. Off the shore of Lake
Tahoe, this community is split in half by the border between California and Nevada, which gave a
name to one establishment which became a location of Mob meetings, presidential visits, as well as
being visited regularly by celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe. This report is focused primarily on
one small, rustic lodge that became a connection between Hollywood, The Mafia, and the Kennedy

Informative Essay: The Ideal State Of Nevada
Let me tell you about a marvelous state called Nevada. Nevada is located in the southwestern side of
the United States. Nevada is known as the "Silver State," which is the official nickname, even
though it says "Battleborn" on their flag. Since most of the U.S gold came from Nevada, you'd think
that it would be called the Golden State, but nope, that title goes to California, for reasons I do not
know. Furthermore, Nevada has a tremendous amount of history, fascinating geographical features,
glorious climate, indispensable agriculture as well as industry, and captivating natural resources. All
of these features are what makes Nevada, Nevada! You will see that Nevada is a phenomenal state to

Rhetorical Analysis Of Red Rock Canyon
In the city of Las Vegas, people go through the daily trails and tribulations that the city has to offer.
People constantly on the go, worried about the collection of money, pollution filling our lungs and
tackled with the constant worries of reality. Being in the city, it seems as there is no escape from the
madness that is being offered. Surrounded by the man made building and artificial light that
illuminates the struggle of these streets. Although, there is a place that offers freedom about fifteen
minutes away from the cities madness. A place where the air is fresh, a place where gargantuan
rocks act as buildings, a place where the sun, moon and stars are the source of light and a place that
provides freedom from the worries of the city. This center of nature providing freedom from the
busy city life is Red Rock Canyon. Red Rock Canyon as a space has a rhetorical significance as a
location of freedom from city life with the multitude of space it provides. Red Rock Canyon serves
as an example of space and place in rhetoric and also creates ties to visual rhetoric with the unique
scenery and imagery being offered. In addition aspects of memory such as cultural memory and
public memory can be connected to Red Rock. To begin this analysis of Red Rock Canyon, is the
notion of Red Rock Canyon being a place defined by its theory of rhetoric. According to Danielle
Enders and Samantha Senda–Cook in their article " Rhetoric Matters: The Rhetoric of Place in
Protest", "Place refers to particular locations (e.g., a city, a particular shopping mall, or a park) that
are semi–bounded, a combination of material and symbolic qualities, and embodied. For example a
city is semi–bounded by city limits (semi–bounded because these limits can be a matter of debate,
change over time, or be re–drawn within a single year), includes material structures like buildings
and roads, has symbolic meanings such as being perceived as a college town or an urban metropolis,
and is experienced on a daily basis by the people who live, work, or visit it" ( Enders, Cook Pg.259,
2011). Red Rock Canyon itself is a particular location that is semi–bounded by rules and regulation

The Sacramento Kings Buy Controlling Interest of The Reno Bighorns
By: Marisol Bragg The Sacramento Kings, and the Reno Bighorns have been intertwined for the last
eight years. The Kings have regulated professional inquiries for the Bighorns since 2013. Prior to
the 2013–2014 season, the teams entered into single affiliation partnership, only controlling, and
managing the basketball operations. In October, The Kings announced that the deal was final, they
will now be undertaking all business operations performed by the Bighorns. Neither Herb Santos,
pervious owner of the Bighorns, or the Kings will disclose the cost of the purchase. Other D–League
business inquiries have sold for $6 million, such as a D–League Team that was just bought out close
to Toronto. We can only assume that the purchase of the Bighorns, were within the range of the
same financial cost. Only good things have been said about the purchase, it has been foretold that it
will have great benefits for both teams. The Kings principle owner Vivek Ranadive only further
justified the benefits within his statement, "This is an incredible opportunity to develop players,
front–office staff and future business executives for the Sacramento Kings, while simultaneously
contributing meaningfully to the Reno entertainment, commercial and nonprofit ecosystem."

Pros And Cons Of Brothels In Nevada

Las Vegas was the driving force in the creation of Clark County, Nevada in 1909 and the city was

The name Las Vegas was given to the area in 1829 by a Mexican scout named Raphael Rivera, a
member of the Antonio Armijo trading party that was traveling to Los Angeles, and stopped for water
there while heading north and west on the Old Spanish Trail from New Mexico. At that time, several
parts of the valley contained artesian wells surrounded by extensive green areas; Las Vegas means
the meadows in Spanish. The flows from the wells fed the Las Vegas Wash, which runs to the

Investment View We initiate coverage of Harsco Corporation with a Sell rating. Harsco Corporation
is a multinational provider of industrial services and engineered products. Although the company's
operations fall into three reportable segments: Harsco Metals & Minerals, Harsco Industrial and
Harsco Rail, the segments are disproportionate and leave Harsco Corp. in a vulnerable state. The
company's collective operational results are predicated on the efficacy of the troubled Metals and
Minerals segment, which accounted for 64% of total revenues for FY2015. We believe the current

privately–held global businesses as well as certain regional competitors. As a consequence of
operating in 30 different countries, Harsco Corporation is exposed to a plethora of macroeconomic
risk factors every day. We believe that the most pertinent macro threats to Harsco Corporation's
continued operations are those which apply to the company's heavily weighted Metals & Minerals

The Organizational Context of Practice: The West Virginia Department of Health and Human
Resources is a government organization. The West Virginia Department of Health and Human

Families serves populations from children, youth, and adults. The Bureau of Children and Families

youth housed in those facilities are safe and secure within federal and state regulations. Reviews are

are receiving care that meets their needs.
The Community Context of Practice: The licensing unit addresses facilities across the state of West
Virginia. Also, due to children being placed out of state, workers travel out of state to those facilities
to ensure they are in compliance with West Virginia laws. The one thing that congregant care
placements lack is addressing the individual needs of each child. Also, employees at the facilities are
often neglectful, and use forceful tactics to deal with children's behaviors. This is not effective

The Washoe County School District
The Washoe County School District recognizes the importance of sustainability and how
sustainability will allow for our stakeholders to have a successful future. As a district we believe in
implementing sustainable values in each person that we come into contact with by leading lives that
are reflective of creating a sustainable future. The WCSD defines sustainability as: creating an
environment that promotes learning, civic engagement, and collaboration in ways that create
mindful citizens that are aware of how the choices we make today impact our current conditions and
have ripple effects that carry into our future.
The sustainability vision or sustaiNVision for the WCSD is; "Create an educational system that can
be sustained indefinitely through sustainable practices in education, energy usage, water usage, and
building and land usage. The Washoe County School District will create engaged students and
professionals that enter the world with a sustainable mindset as responsible citizens that work to
design the future."
The sustainability values or sustaiNValues for the WCSD are collaboration, celebration,
transparency, and leadership. The main challenges that we see impeding the sustainability plan are
the size of the district, the varying backgrounds of students in the district, and schools with building
that vary greatly in age and relative building size.

The Impact Of The Great Westward Migration
When the Pacific Railroad Act ordered for the construction of the Transcontinental railroad in 1862,
most people were able to find the positive side in the new form of transportation. Westward
migration had previously been difficult for groups such as the Mormons and many others due to the
harsh environment, as well as, natives attacking weary travelers. With the new railroad, westward
migration would be easier than ever, allowing for what is referred to as the "Great westward
migration". This migration led to the founding of land in which towns and full cities were derived.
However, with the great westward migration also came what many referred to as "hell on wheels".
As the railroad expanded westward, so did unsavory past times including, gambling, prostitution,
and the building of saloons (Outline:Railroads). Not surprisingly, what many call "the oldest
profession in the world" existed in Nevada even before the great westward migration occurred,
prostitution. Before the transcontinental railroad was built, the mining boom was in full swing.
When the "Comstock Lode" was struck in Nevada, many flocked to Virginia City (which at the time

Another prospective defect in King's review of the poker industry is Max Steinberg. The poker–pro–

had decreased by 1.4% (reviewjournal.com). The loss may seem disturbing and fretful but in all
actuality it is not harming to the casino industry but is very worrisome. Many travel from all over
the world travel to Nevada not only for the scenery, but for the dream of making it rich. The

Strategic Goals and Management Plan for Harrah's Hotel &...
Objectives.
About Harrah's
Harrah's Hotel & Casino is an exciting entertainment destination in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip,
offering its customers first class hotel accommodations, gaming, entertainment and promotions.
With so many hotels and casinos in the Las Vegas valley, one must determine its goals and vision to
guarantee that it stands out from the competition, offering its customers unprecedented service while
providing unique incentives for its employees.
Mission statement.
A company's vision is a "general statement of its intended direction that evokes emotional feelings
in organization members." (Dessler, 2003). The mission statement determines the type of business it
will be by setting the purpose for the company, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Formulate Strategy to Achieve Goal
Standout Strategy:
With a variety of casinos on the strip, it is hard to stand out and become the leading casino on the
Las Vegas strip; however, with the right stand out strategy it is not impossible. Harrah's will have to
implement a plan to stick out from the rest of the casinos. For example the Mirage has a volcano,
Paris has an Eiffel Tower and Treasure Island has a pirate show just to name a few. Do you see a
theme? Without a prominent attraction, Harrah's will concentrate on our other features like the
reputation of its sister properties, the fun atmosphere, friendly staff and high quality technology to
attract its customers.
Second Stop Strategy.
With the help of our sister properties all over the world, Harrah's can encourage customers to visit
any other our other Harrah's properties and insure them that they will receive the same wonderful
experiences as they do from the Las Vegas property and visa versa. The Harrah's club card will be
valid at all Harrah's locations and club card holders are able to increase their points no matter which
Harrah's they visit but they earn extra points for playing at the Harrah's on the Las Vegas strip. It is
kind of like frequent flyer miles, where the customer can use any airline but will receive better
prices or incentives for traveling on a certain airline.
Customer Opinion Strategy.
The customer's

The University Of Nevada Reno 's Football Program Essay
The University of Nevada Reno's Football program officially started fifty years ago in the October
of 1966. At the same time the team was established, Mackay stadium was built which seated only
7,500 people at the time. After numerous amounts of renovations, the stadium now seats 26,000
people and the football games are very loud and exciting. Being a football player and student
myself, I get to hear what other people outside the football program perceive of us as around campus
when we win, lose, or just in general about the football program. Most comments and accusations I
have heard have been false and negatively based. What most people do not see is the hardwork and
dedication it takes to be apart of the football program and the impact it has on the coaching staff, the
community, and also, the inseparable bond it creates between the players.
The UNR football team is divided amongst a variety of demographics and characters. After close
review and analysis of my observation of the UNR football team, I could not depict a certain
demographic that stood out because everyone is particularly different in their own way. Meaning
that there is no dominant race, religion, or social class in regards to the players or coaching staff.
Furthermore, there is also an abundance of different types of characters on the football team. Upon
observing the UNR football team, I found that many players and coaches act differently. Some
players/coaches are loud and tend to be the "clowns" on the

  • 1. The Purpose Of This Organizational Assessment Paper Is The purpose of this organizational assessment paper is to provide a clear unbiased analysis of my place of employment. I began my employment at the Human Behavioral Institute (HBI) in Las Vegas under the supervision of Dr. Marie Cid and Dr. Anis Abi–Karam on August 17, 2009. To date I have averaged approximately thirty–two hours per week of face–to–face contact with clients. 1. Assess the Organization's Programs and Services a. What programs and services are offered? What populations are served by the agency/organization? I have been exposed to numerous areas including individual and group therapy, diagnostic evaluation, and clinical report writing. I have also been exposed to several specialized areas including geriatrics, substance ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... b. Are service goals and objectives based on empirical research? Yes, this organization is a full service behavioral health service agency, but also an accredited utilization management company as well. The purpose of this organization is to manage and provide clinical mental health services to clients throughout the state of Nevada. HBI's goal is to provide direct clinical services in the two major metropolitan areas in the state, Las Vegas, and Reno. However, the utilization management portion of the agency provides services throughout the state in its direct management of the psychiatric health services for the HPN smart choice Medicaid program. The overall objectives and goal of the company are to provide clinically and cost effective mental health services. d. • 3. Casino Industry in Macau The Casino Industry in Macau Research Question I intend to evaluate the Casino Industry in Macau including the reasons for its high demand and growing success and compare it to the Casino Industry in Las Vegas. The gaming industry is the livelihood of Macau. It is responsible for 75% of the government's income and provides the people of Macau with millions of jobs. Even though gambling was first legalized under Portuguese rule to finance the government, it remains the same under Chinese rule today. The rules and regulations set forth oversee the casino industry and grant companies with casino concessions. It is dramatically more profitable than Las Vegas because of the devastating effects of the American Recession. Introduction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This only attracted more tourists to the country and encouraged locals to gamble more. The construction and operation of new casinos also dramatically increased employment rates. Who Regulates the Casino Industry in Macau? After the casino monopoly ended in 2001, the government formed rules and regulations that would administer the gaming industry. The dissolution of the monopoly meant that companies besides STDM were now allowed to build and operate casinos in Macau. Theses rules and regulations were to ensure that the new casinos were operating properly and "fairly" (Loughlin and Pannell). Soon after the monopoly ended, the Legislative Assembly passed a law (No. 16) that clearly outlined the definition "gambling" and "casino". The law stated what would be acceptable and what would not be acceptable in terms of gambling in Macau. It also explained the guidelines for the concession system and the procedure for bidding. In order to enforce these rules and regulations, the Legislative Assembly established the Casino Commissions Committee. This committee consists of eight members and is overseen by the Secretary of Economics and Finance. At the time of its establishment, this man was Francis Tam Pak Yuen. The bidding process began in November of 2001. The Casinos Commissions Committee started to give prospective investors information about building a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many people in these groups have compounding barriers to treatment including cost, language obstacles, mistrust of medical intervention, stigma, and lack of access to information. (Krieger N, Waterman PD, Chen JT, et al., 2003) Primary community and prevention resources include the Clark County Health Department Sexual Health Clinic and private physicians. The Sexual Health Clinic is open to all; there is a $40 charge for STI screenings. This fee will be placed on account if the patient does not have the funds at the time of the visit. The clinic does not have a billing system, those with outstanding accounts will never receive a bill. The clinic will give out prescriptions as needed for treatment. The cost of that medication will be the responsibility of the patient. The patient that has health care insurance can seek care in the private physician's office with no charge. Often the needed medications are covered by health insurance. The underlying causes of the sharp increase of STI's in Clark County include a combination of factors, including multiple sexual partners, fewer STI prevention campaigns and increasingly popular dating apps and websites that make casual sex easier. The constant flow of visitors into and out of Las Vegas every year makes identify and notify patients of possible infections exposure impossible. While not the biggest city in Nevada, coming in third behind Las Vegas and Henderson, Reno is here first. Until the turn of the 20th century, Reno is known as a dusty railroad town with a population under 5,000. Early Reno is a permissive place that tolerates vices not always embraced by polite society in other communities. It is a place that seems to turn a blind eye toward scandalous behavior, a place that is easy to admire and admonish as it is to whisper and gossip about. • 14. Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. Essay Individual Case Assignment: Harrah's Entertainment, Inc. 1. What are the objectives of the various Database marketing (DBM) programs and are they working? There are two main overall objectives of Harrah's Database marketing (DBM) programs. First, Harrah's strived to build, increase and retain customers' loyalty to their brand, similar to the way people tend to be loyal to their mechanic or hair dresser. The strategy to achieve this goal was to ensure that they crafted and sustained a relationship with their customers and reinforced the emotional tie with personalized attention and fast service. The second objective piggy–backs on the first – that customer loyalty will yield incremental business and increase company revenue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Why is it important to use the "customer worth" in the DBM efforts rather than the observed level of play? The case study article defines customer worth as "the theoretical amount the house expects to win, over the long term, from a customer based on his level of play." This calculation allows Harrah's management to more strategically analyze and predict a customer's future spending as opposed to analysis of 'observed level of play' which is only based on a customer's previous spending patterns. The example contained in this article of Ms. Maranees best exemplifies the benefits of calculating customer worth as opposed to an observed level of play. Ms. Maranees only played a limited amount in a short timeframe at Harrah's, so if one were to solely judge her future habits by her observed level of play during that trip, they likely would not feel that she was a customer worth targeting. However, in analysis of her customer worth and theoretical wins, it was evident that Ms. Maranees was likely a very profitable customer who was probably bringing a majority of her business to Harrah's competition, so it would in fact be advantageous for Harrah's to win her business. 3. How does Harrah's integrate the various elements of its marketing strategy to deliver more than the results of Database Marketing? The lawmakers, who have decided that it is evil for you and me to gamble, have justified it as a means to scam billions from citizens in order to compensate for their mismanagement of tax money. First they waste what they collect in taxes and then recover the wasted billions with gambling scams to get more, much more. In 1931 Nevada was asking itself "What do we got to lose". The state passed laws that year legalizing gambling. The first major casinos were opened in Reno. The next 10 years until the 40's was when Las Vegas really grew. "Clubs arose, neon lights soared the skies and entertainment engulfed the streets" (Cardoza 7–11). Las Vegas was like no other; it replaced currency with chips, around the clock gambling and nearly a total absence of clocks. After nearly 50 years in success Las Vegas finally took on a competitor. In 1978 the state of New Jersey legalized gambling (Cardoza 15–17). Does gambling help our economy? When gambling was approved in New Orleans it created 15,000 new jobs and brought in 25 million in city taxes. In addition, it also brought in 67 million in state taxes each year. When South Dakota needed $400,000 to replace water lines and another $50,000 to shape up a failing wall on the reservoir they turned towards gambling. "Nevada offers both tourism and gaming. If the customers want it, Nevada can and should deliver" (Dambrink 7–9). Casinos do in fact improve the economy of states. In Mississippi, gaming represented 25% to 33% of the new jobs created and employed approximately 10,000 people in 1993. The number more than doubled in 1994 to 28,000 (Solotaroff n.p.). • 45. Rhetorical Analysis Of Red Rock Canyon In the city of Las Vegas, people go through the daily trails and tribulations that the city has to offer. People constantly on the go, worried about the collection of money, pollution filling our lungs and tackled with the constant worries of reality. Being in the city, it seems as there is no escape from the madness that is being offered. Surrounded by the man made building and artificial light that illuminates the struggle of these streets. Although, there is a place that offers freedom about fifteen minutes away from the cities madness. A place where the air is fresh, a place where gargantuan rocks act as buildings, a place where the sun, moon and stars are the source of light and a place that provides freedom from the worries of the city. This center of nature providing freedom from the busy city life is Red Rock Canyon. Red Rock Canyon as a space has a rhetorical significance as a location of freedom from city life with the multitude of space it provides. Red Rock Canyon serves as an example of space and place in rhetoric and also creates ties to visual rhetoric with the unique scenery and imagery being offered. In addition aspects of memory such as cultural memory and public memory can be connected to Red Rock. To begin this analysis of Red Rock Canyon, is the notion of Red Rock Canyon being a place defined by its theory of rhetoric. According to Danielle Enders and Samantha Senda–Cook in their article " Rhetoric Matters: The Rhetoric of Place in Protest", "Place refers to particular locations (e.g., a city, a particular shopping mall, or a park) that are semi–bounded, a combination of material and symbolic qualities, and embodied. For example a city is semi–bounded by city limits (semi–bounded because these limits can be a matter of debate, change over time, or be re–drawn within a single year), includes material structures like buildings and roads, has symbolic meanings such as being perceived as a college town or an urban metropolis, and is experienced on a daily basis by the people who live, work, or visit it" ( Enders, Cook Pg.259, 2011). The Sacramento Kings Buy Controlling Interest of The Reno Bighorns By: Marisol Bragg The Sacramento Kings, and the Reno Bighorns have been intertwined for the last eight years. The Kings have regulated professional inquiries for the Bighorns since 2013. Prior to the 2013–2014 season, the teams entered into single affiliation partnership, only controlling, and managing the basketball operations. In October, The Kings announced that the deal was final, they will now be undertaking all business operations performed by the Bighorns. Neither Herb Santos, pervious owner of the Bighorns, or the Kings will disclose the cost of the purchase. Other D–League business inquiries have sold for $6 million, such as a D–League Team that was just bought out close to Toronto. We can only assume that the purchase of the Bighorns, were within the range of the same financial cost. Only good things have been said about the purchase, it has been foretold that it will have great benefits for both teams. The Kings principle owner Vivek Ranadive only further justified the benefits within his statement, "This is an incredible opportunity to develop players, front–office staff and future business executives for the Sacramento Kings, while simultaneously contributing meaningfully to the Reno entertainment, commercial and nonprofit ecosystem." The Impact Of The Great Westward Migration When the Pacific Railroad Act ordered for the construction of the Transcontinental railroad in 1862, most people were able to find the positive side in the new form of transportation. Westward migration had previously been difficult for groups such as the Mormons and many others due to the harsh environment, as well as, natives attacking weary travelers. With the new railroad, westward migration would be easier than ever, allowing for what is referred to as the "Great westward migration". This migration led to the founding of land in which towns and full cities were derived. However, with the great westward migration also came what many referred to as "hell on wheels". As the railroad expanded westward, so did unsavory past times including, gambling, prostitution, and the building of saloons (Outline:Railroads). Not surprisingly, what many call "the oldest profession in the world" existed in Nevada even before the great westward migration occurred, prostitution. Before the transcontinental railroad was built, the mining boom was in full swing. When the "Comstock Lode" was struck in Nevada, many flocked to Virginia City (which at the time was in Utah territory) in hopes of finding plentiful amounts of silver. The majority of the population of Virginia City in 1860 were men, outnumbering women 16 to 1, with fifty percent of these men being under the age of 30 (Outline: The Comstock and Statehood).
