Battle Of The Philippines Essay
The Philippines is a small island nation in Southeast Asia that normally has little consequence to the
rest of the world. During World War II however, it sat directly in Japan's oil shipping lanes. This
made it a strategic necessity for Japan to hold in order to maintain access to the natural resources
that were vital to the Japanese war effort. To compound the necessity of retaking the Philippines,
General Douglas MacArthur stated that the Allies had a moral obligation to liberate the islands as he
had told the people, "I shall return," when he was forced to retreat to Australia in the winter of 1942.
Other plans to bypass the Philippines and attack Formosa (Taiwan) had been presented but due to
the large amount of Japanese air assets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Halsey's 3rd fleet, and Admiral Kinkaid's 7th fleet were called into action. This, along with Task
Force 38, under the command of Vice Admiral Marc Mitscher would bring a total of over 300 naval
vessels to bear on the region. This immense swarm of ships would include eight fleet carriers, 8 light
carriers, 18 escort carriers, 12 battleships, 24 cruisers, and 166 destroyers, escorts, and submarines.
The carriers would bring a full load of approximately 1,500 planes to the battles that would ensue.
Opposing this herculean force was the Japanese Northern Force under Vice Admiral Jisaburo
Ozawa, Southern Force under Vice Admirals Shoji Nishimura and Kiyohide Shima, and the most
powerful Central Force under the command of Takeo Kurito. Together these fleets comprised of one
fleet carrier, three light carriers, nine battleships, 14 heavy cruisers, 6 light cruisers, and over 35
destroyers. They would be reinforced by nearly 300 land based aircraft from the nearby islands.
With close to 400 naval vessels and almost 2000 aircraft in total the Battle of Leyte Gulf would
become the largest naval battle in world history and the outcome could make or break the outcome
of the war on either

Little Paradise Taught me to Appreciate Beauty Everywhere...
The loud grumbling noise from the ferry boat reminded me of a car's engine complaining of old age.
Most people around us took no notice of it and went about relaxing and enjoying their time. The soft
rocking of the boat made my stomach squeaky and my head dizzy. I felt a mixture of excitement and
apprehension since that was our first trip as a married couple to an unfamiliar island. As I looked
outside the window, I saw the blue ocean glistening in the sunshine like tiny crystals. I looked up to
the sky and saw no trace of a cloud. "This would be a beautiful day", I thought to myself. Suddenly,
a deep friendly voice overhead announced we were about to reach our destination. The island of

People in the island are known to be warm, friendly and accommodating. Accessibility to and
around the area is easy. Food and accommodation are affordable. For these reasons, my husband and
I chose Bohol as the place to be for our honeymoon. As we stepped out of the ferry, we were
immediately greeted by the clean salty scent of unpolluted seas. At the port, we picked a friendly
guide to show us around using his vehicle. He first took us to the town of Carmen, where the world
famous Chocolate Hills rest. From the drop–off point, we climbed 214 steps to the viewing deck to
experience the hills' extraordinary splendor. Draped with greenish–brown grass, the hills looked like
chocolate kisses dropped from the sky. My husband said that it looked more like a collection of
giant molehills. According to our guide, the hills are actually resplendent green during the rainy
months. However, when summer comes, it turns into dark brown color just like a rich luscious
chocolate. From the hills, we proceeded to Panglao Beach Resort located in Panglao Island, the
second largest island of Bohol, which is attached to the mainland by a bridge. I was in awe the
moment I saw the beach. The white sand looked like pure silk spread along the coast. It glittered like
diamonds against the raging sunlight. The sweet breeze that greeted us, reminded me of an early
morning shower after a long hot summer night. Shady trees lined the beach

Male and Seahorse
Seahorse From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to: navigation, search This article is about the
animal. For the mythological animal sea–horse, see hippocamp. For other uses, see Seahorse
(disambiguation). Seahorses are a genus (Hippocampus) of fish belonging to the family
Syngnathidae, which also includes pipefish and leafy sea dragons. There are over 32 species of
seahorse, mainly found in shallow tropical and temperate waters throughout the world. They prefer
to live in sheltered areas such as sea grass beds, coral reefs, or mangroves. Colonies have been
found in European waters such as the Thames Estuary.[2] From North America down to South
America there are approximately four species, ranging from very small in size (dwarf ... Show more

Furthermore, to measure the toll that incubation takes on a male, Masonjones built a tiny respirator
that records oxygen concentrations in water flowing into and out of a chamber. Before a male took
on eggs, she checked his baseline need for oxygen. Then, she monitored the increase as the
incubation progressed. The male's body had to work hard by the end of incubation, consuming
almost a third again as much oxygen as he did before mating. To correct for oxygen used by the
growing brood, Masonjones managed to keep ¼ inch–high premature seahorses alive outside the
pouch so she could measure their oxygen needs. Although they undergo weeks of incubation, males
directly contribute only half as much energy for offspring as females do. [5]Therefore, they do in
fact fit into the widespread pattern of the less–invested sex being the less–choosy. {text:bookmark–

pregnancy rather than the females is actually not entirely known, though some researchers believe
male pregnancy allows for shorter birthing intervals, hence more offspring. When looking at which
sex has the ability to produce more young if they had an unlimited number of ready and willing
partners, males have the potential to produce 17 percent more in a breeding season. Also, females
have "time–outs” from the reproductive cycle that are 1.2 times

From June to October the Philippine Islands are sometimes struck by typhoons, which sometimes
cause great damage. The Philippines have very many mineral and forest resources. The principal
minerals are gold, copper, iron, chromite, manganese, salt, and coal. Other minerals found here
include silver, lead, mercury, limestone, petroleum, nickel, and uranium. Forests cover 23% of the
Philippines. Some of these trees are the banyan, many different kinds of palm, and many indigenous
trees with extremely hard wood such as apitong, yacal, lauan, camagón, ipil, white and red narra,
and mayapis. Bamboo, cinnamon cloves, and pepper plants grow wild, and so does many other
kinds of orchid. One of the most valuable plants is the abaca, a plantain, and the fiber that is used to
make cordage, textiles, and hats. Mangrove trees and nipa palms grow in coastal swamps.
Considerable areas of the uplands are covered by coarse grasses, of little value, for cattle. Few
mammals are found on the islands, but there are many reptiles. The islands also have 556 species of
birds. Coastal waters are filled with marine life, mainly mollusks, which the Philippines are well
known for. There are huge amounts of pearl oysters around the Sulu Archipelago. About 32% of the
land is farmland. In the northern islands the soils are mainly originated from volcanic rock. Coral
limestone is an important part of the soils in the southern islands. In general the soils of the islands

Today, the park continues to be a popular destination for family outings and picnics; a more
healthful alternative to shopping malls.
The La Mesa Watershed is vital to the 12 million residents of Metro Manila as its source of clean
drinking water as well as clean air from the forest. The Ecopark also provides educational
opportunities for the public to become more environmentally aware. It serves as an outdoor
recreation area while at the same time showcasing different species of flora and fauna.
The rehabilitation of the park and the surrounding forest is a successful example of the joint effort of
both the public and private sector. On one end, the government should have been able to maintain
the park and preserve the forest on its own. However, with the infusion of private funds and proper
management, the park is now revitalized and the surrounding forest is nearly completely reforested.

A Journey Back Home At Home
A Journey Back Home There is no place like home. These are familiar words I often hear from
people especially from those who are far away from home. They move or migrate to a different
place because of many reasons; it can be a new job, work abroad, or simply to find better
opportunity. Canada has been my home for the last 25 years. Living here gave me independence and
the ability to improve myself. I'm lucky to be given the chance to stay and live in this beautiful
country. All my four children were born and raised here. Growing up, I want them to learn about
their roots and family heritage. I and my husband are both Filipinos. At home, they are already
exposed to some of the values and traits of our culture. One summer, we planned a vacation, and I
thought what better way to learn, understand and embrace the Filipino culture? Go visit the country.
All of us were excited and looked forward to this memorable trip back home to my native land,

Purpose in making Artificial Intelligence in medical application
Medical artificial intelligence is primary concerned with the const ruction of artificial intelligence
programs that perform diagnosis and make therapy recommendations. In this case, many intelligent
systems have developed for the
purpose of doing fastest operations with deals in medication, for enhancing health–care and
provide better health care facilities, reduce cost and many others. It also developed for or to assist
users, particularly doctors and patients and to provide early diagnosis and prediction to prevent
serious illness. However, intelligent system can never replace the human expertise because as
human they are very useful as required in doing frequent monitoring to ensure the validation of the
system.
The challenge, however, is for researchers and developers of Artificial
Intelligence to push boundaries by elevating the capabilities of computer systems so as to be
adaptable and creative when handling specific and unfamiliar situations. To produce machines that
are capable of automating even the most human of tasks requiring intelligent thought. The purpose
of Artificial Intelligence research should not be misunderstood, though. It is not to replicate human
beings, but rather to develop useful machines that can solve problems as well as humans. To such

Journey Through the Phillipines
I have always been interested in my heritage, thus I do my best to indulge myself in the culture of
the Philippines. As a result, my pilgrimage will take place in the Philippines, but not just to go and
see the sights and enjoy the food, but to find a rainbow Eucalyptus tree, "The tree is the only
Eucalyptus species found naturally in the northern hemisphere. And yes, it's also native in the
Philippines, but it's not found solely in that part of the country, but in other islands as well, such as
Negros."(The Rainbow Tree of Bago City) This journey will test my knowledge of the botany and
wildlife in the Philippines, without ever being there myself. With the hope of obtaining knowledge
and experiences that my ancestor may have endured that will possibly have a life lasting effect on
me. Within the Philippines, multiple languages are spoken, due to the very tribal attributes that the
Philippines has. Thus, before I begin on my journey, I would have to learn and relearn some of the
languages including, but not limited to, "Tagalog, Ilocano, and Bisaya..."(Major Languages of the
Philippines) so that I may be able to communicate on my own without the need for an interpreter, to
be somewhat self sufficient. Another barrier will be the weather, for the Philippines tends to have
more humidity and rain than Texas, thus may cause my body to take time to adapt to the climate,
since there is also a slight decrease in the average elevation between the Philippine and Texas. Also,
transportation will be an issue when I am hopping from island to island, for the Philippines is a
chain of dormant and inactive volcanic Islands. For the four main forms of transportation I will most
likely use while I am in the Philippines will be a Jeepney, which is a twin–benched jitney bus,
seating about a dozen passengers, "As American troops began to leave the Philippines at the end of
World War II, hundreds of surplus jeeps were sold or given to local Filipinos. Locals stripped down
the jeeps to accommodate several passengers, added metal roofs for shade, and decorated the
vehicles with vibrant colors and bright chrome hood ornaments" (History of the Philippine Jeepney )

ruled by the Spanish king. Once the Spanish had discovered and taken the Philippines, they brought
with them their religion, a new system of colonization, and education. The Spanish brought
Christianity with them to the Philippines. The first instance of this occurred when Magellan arrived
in Cebu and attended Mass. Not only did the adventurers attend this event, the Filipinos did so as
well, and 800 of them were converted to Christianity on that day. In addition to this, even the queen
of Cebu, Juana, converted to Christianity. Juana was notably the first Catholic queen in the history
of the Philippines, and was given an image of Jesus as a gift from Magellan after her baptism. Later
on, after conquering Cebu, Legazpi found this same image of Jesus that Magellan gave to Juana,
which caused him to name the first Spanish settlement he built the "City of the Most Holy name of

The tropical fruit has emerged as a hot trend, with its nutritional components being promoted for
health or fitness reasons. Coconut water is advertised as a refreshing, electrolyte–rich beverage
suitable for replacing sports drinks. Not to be confused with the far richer coconut milk, coconut
water is a clear liquid extracted from very young green coconuts. It's billed as "nature's sports drink"
because like Gatorade and other energy drinks, it contains water for rehydration, carbohydrates in
the form of sugar for energy, and electrolytes to replace what's lost through sweat.
In most cases, the best way to restore your body's fluids and electrolytes after exercise is simply
with water and food, particularly fruit. In cases of severe exertion or illness, however, a quick
electrolyte boost may be necessary. For those reluctant to consume sports drinks with all their added
colors, flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, nature has provided the perfect rehydrating drink and
that is the coconut water.
Coconut water is found inside the cavity of a young, unripe coconut. The balance of electrolytes in
coconut water is nearly the same as that in the human blood.

happened in the Philippines. Although it was in 2013 the people are still in need of help to get back
to their daily lives. The Philippines earthquake had a magnitude of 7.1. This earthquake was
gigantic, and it took down many buildings that were in its path. Lucky the children were not in
school that day because of the Muslim holidays the earthquake caused the school to collaspe. If the
children were in school, then it would have killed most of the kids. There were 2,100 aftershocks.
The day of the quake was October 15, 2013. People respond to a natural disaster by gathering

Descriptive Essay About My Mandala
My Mandala A Mandala is a circular design that is seen throughout many cultures around the world.
It is a symbolic piece of art used for enlightenment, protection, healing, or something else depending
on the culture. They are often made for meditation as well, and even deconstructed at the end. The
Mandala I created expresses who I am. It spans from my hobbies and favorite places to my ethnicity.
This Mandala has helped me to understand who I am, and how I've changed and grown throughout
these 14 years. The middle of my Mandala represents the love I have for my family. The heart
represents love, and the people circling it are my family, from both of my parents sides. I made it so
that every family member was wearing a different colored shirt to represent diversity, and my
grandfather and grandmother are wearing Disney merchandise because of their passion for Disney.
My mom and her sister Zdanna are wearing matching necklaces, to represent their connection with
each other, and they actually do have similar necklaces. The large portion on the left symbolizes
how much I went to Disney World as a kid, and how I grew up watching Disney movies. I love
watching the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying over the Magic Kingdom, so I drew those onto my
mandala. The three people watching the fireworks are my mom, my dad, and me. I am on my dad's
shoulders because that is how I was able to see the princesses and villains performing above

CHAPTER I

Its activities and services which provide international and domestic visitors with the opportunity to

Nowadays, there is a growing interest in cultural resources because it offers new economic benefits
for culturally rich destinations. But this interest gave challenges in managing and preserving
heritage facilities and attractions.
The concept of heritage tourism is basically different from general tourism (Garrod and Fyall,
2000), heritage is about preserving and protecting, while tourism is about gaining business (Aas,
Ladkin and Fletcher, 2005).
Thus, the relationship between heritage and tourism and tourism is often characterised by conflicts
where heritage tourism is perceived as compromising conservation goals for the benefit of profit
(Nuryanti, 1996). However, the costs present in the conservation of heritage make the revenue from
tourism indispensable. The mutual benefits that are perceived lead both sectors to common
economic goals, and towards creating money for the local community while simultaneously
supporting the preservation of its culture (Peters, 1999).
This study's main objective is to determine the link between heritage and tourism in San

The Seven Deadly Sins mentioned by Mahatma Gandhi are: * Wealth without work
Nowadays we can see the evidence of people love to gain money without even have to do some
work. Well, we might love to do that. I do want to if I could, haha. However, if we take a deep sight
of it, we can see that there will be only two probabilities of people having some wealth without
doing any efforts: (1) those people are heading towards laziness and poverty, (2) those people do
corruptions. No offense, but money, wealth, is limited, and at one point it will be run out if the
people did not do some work to add more money. Another possibility is to do some corruptions.
People who corrupt can just manipulate money to add their own budgets. * Pleasure ... Show more

Life insurance used to be rather straightforward, known for offering security to loved ones in a
tough time. So when Irma Johnson learned that her husband, Daniel, who died of brain cancer, had
been insured for $1.5 million, it should have been at least a small comfort. But she did not receive
the money. His employer did. It's one of the strangest free–market perversions that Michael Moore
highlights in his latest film, "Capitalism: A Love Story." In the corporate practice dubbed "Dead
Peasants" life insurance, companies wager on employees' lives, expecting to make money when they
die. And it's pervasive, said Mike Myers, an attorney who has uncovered many of these cases and
helped angry relatives sue. "Life insurance is traditionally used to guard against the death of
breadwinners. This is an investment scheme," he said. Dozens of blue chip companies have these
policies, according to Myers. But only banks are forced to reveal them, and several have billions of
dollars worth of policies. "The driving force behind it is the tax deductions," he said. The life
insurance policies were designed to allow companies to insure a few crucial executives. Savvy
companies then realized they could also get a tax break by insuring many lower–level employees.
The financial scheme doesn't actually cost the employees anything, except, some say, their trust.

Emergency Management And The Historical Factors That...
Explain the origin of emergency management and the historical factors that helped lay the
foundation for the profession of emergency management. Compare and contrast aspects of
emergency management relating to Hurricane Agnes of 1972 and Superstorm Sand of 2012.
The history of emergency management dates back in 1803 when a great fire struck Portsmouth city
in New Hampshire. In response to this firebreak out, the Congress passed into law the Congress Act,
1803 to compensate the Portsmouth merchants. The Portsmouth city fire breakout and the congress
response to the disaster set a precedent, which was applied in United States in management of
emergencies like the 1835 terrific fire of New york city, fire break out at Chicago in 1871, the
Galveston hurricane of 1900, and the 1906 San Francisco horrible earthquake up to mid–20th
century (Rubin, 2012).
In 1930s, the government incorporated disaster aids in in to laws in order to stabilize the economy of
the country. As at 1935, laws setting up federal funds available through loans for reestablishment of
public amenities, roads, and bridges, which had been destroyed by natural catastrophes, were put in
place. Moreover, the 1934 Flood Control Act allowed the U.S army corps of engineers to design and
build projects to control floods in the region.

The History of Major Earthquakes Around World Essay
The term earthquake comes from the Greek term for "shaking." An earthquake is a visible rip across
the Earth's surface due to a release of energy and stored stress in the Earth's crust and causes seismic
waves. Earthquakes have been around since the time of the earliest civilizations. Earthquakes used
to be compared to the "unrest of spiritual beings." Specifically, Aristotle and the Ancient Greeks
stated that earthquakes were the result of the "underground winds". The earliest earthquakes were
recorded by seismometers which calculate the waves generated by each earthquake. The original
seismometer was the Wood – Anderson seismometer. When an earthquake would occur a structure

The plates are in constant motion. Where they interact, along their margins, important geological
processes take place, such as the formation of mountain belts, earthquakes, and volcanoes" (Spall 1).
Plate tectonics are one of the most influential factors of earthquakes. When tectonic plates slide past
each other an earthquake occurs. Typical plate tectonics move at about the same rate your fingernail
grows. The process is extremely slow before the plate moves significantly enough to cause an earth
quake but it does happen. These tectonic plates are on the fault lines which are considered
earthquake hot spots.
Earthquakes typically occur in relation to other earthquakes. After shocks that follow earthquakes,
typically occur around the same fault break as the original earthquake or can occur on nearby fault
lines as well. Earthquakes can also be triggers for future earthquakes occurring on the same fault
line or neighboring fault lines anytime from seconds to years after the orginal mainshock. "In recent
decades, scientists have learned that faults and earthquakes communicate with one another in far
more diverse and interesting ways than the classic foreshock – mainshock – aftershock" (Hough 1).

October 15,2013 a deadly 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck the central Philippines (B.E.). Much has

The females give birth to a single baby after a gestation period that often lasts for six months. Baby
tarsiers are well–developed as they are born with a full coat of fur, open eyes, and the ability to
climb at just a day old.Infant tarsiers are carried around in their mother's mouth or cling onto her fur
and are suckled by their mother for about two months. Once they begin eating an adult diet and are
able to hunt on their own, the young tarsier is able to establish its own territory on their own.

Delayed-Onset DOMS
INTRODUCTION
Delayed–onset muscle soreness (DOMS) is muscle soreness secondary to exercise, characterized by
increasing pain or discomfort during subsequent 24 –72 hours, and subsiding within few days
(Elsevier 2009). This was often associated with athletes and coaches where they usually lead to
detrimental to their performance and recovery after activities. Although its physiological mechanism
has not yet determine, it may relate to primary mechanical damage that may happen to muscle cells
during exercise. Because of its transient nature (peak soreness 24 to 72 hours and resolution of
symptoms within 5 – 7 days) experimentally induced delayed–onset muscle is used as a model of
myogenic pain to study the effects of different therapeutic modalities. Due to a ... Show more

Such strategies include: massage, stretching, and anti–inflammatory medications. Studies to date
have demonstrated different and mixed results of these treatments on delayed–onset muscle
soreness, mostly with minimal analgesic effects, and inconsistent effects on strength, joint range and
CK levels.
Over the past decades cryotherapy has been as a strategy in the management of delayed–onset
muscle soreness. Cryotherapy is a medical treatment in which all or part of the body is subjected to
cold temperature such as ice packs. (Collins English Dictionary – Complete & Unabridged 2012
Digital Edition). One of the techniques of cryotherapy that have been used is the ice immersion. Ice
immersion is a technique for administering therapeutic cold treatments to the distal extremities (e.g.,
the ankle or hand) with a mixture of water and crushed, flaked, or cubed ice with a temperature
range 50̊ to 60̊ F (10̊ – 15̊ C). (Medical Dictionary, © 2009 Farlex and Partners). After exercise or

is an agri–based company located in Marinduque, an island province in MIMAROPA Region
located east of Mindoro, south of Lucena City, west of Bondoc Peninsula and north of Romblon.
They envision their company to be the catalyst of natural farming in Marinduque. They capitalize in
the surge of awareness about the value of the coconut products especially the health benefits of the
virgin coconut oil. Apis Cerana locally called "ligwan" or "laywan" is well–suited to be raised in
coconut producing province like Marinduque where the use of chemical fertilizer and pesticides is
not commonly practiced. Their "ligwan" until now has not been affected by the pest that has been
exterminating the imported bees called Apis Millefera, which require anti–biotics to survive.
With the coconut nectar as the primary source of food for thei bees, the honey they produce is
claimed to be superior. The bees in return will ensure that our coconut trees bear healthy fruits. The
coconut and the bees are natural partners which inspired us to come up with products we call
Heaven's Cure.

Effects Of Collapse Of The Philippines
Collapsing of Philippines Many countries and organizations start to wonder that what is going on
with Philippines, and it is going to collapse from many problems that occur in the country or not.
Philippines is a sovereign island county that locates in the Southeast Asia, and it is also one of the
countries that locates on the Ring of Fire. In 1965, Philippines used to be second richest country in
Asian, but it is currently one of the poorest countries in Asian (Cruz, 2013). There are both
challenges and advantages of Philippines. Its location is a major challenge because the Ring of Fire
is the area that has a high possibility of occurring natural disasters such as volcanic activities and
earthquakes (National Geographic, n.d.). Another challenge for Philippines is development of the
country, which is a developing country. According to United Nations (2001), there are five negative
issues on developing countries: "lack of knowledge; missed opportunities to prevent disability, and
failure to integrate social and medical factors and models; diversity across ... Show more content on

When there are crimes in the country, victims always have less chance to get justice because
criminals can take all of their money and leave the country before they get caught. As Camello (n.d.)
states that "[by] the time the [Department of Justice] DOJ has caught up with powerful crime
offenders, the crime offenders have already fattened their bank accounts, their wallets, and their
"stomach," literally and the eyewitnesses against them are already dead, kidnapped, or murdered
(like in the Philip Pestanio case), or has suffered Alzheimer's disease or have left to reside in other
countries". This brings to a lack of a respectable justice system. Most people in the country are
losing respect for the system because no one can enforce the law against corrupt government
officials and protect people from violence (Pepa,

Battle Of The Philippines Essay

  • 1. Battle Of The Philippines Essay The Philippines is a small island nation in Southeast Asia that normally has little consequence to the rest of the world. During World War II however, it sat directly in Japan's oil shipping lanes. This made it a strategic necessity for Japan to hold in order to maintain access to the natural resources that were vital to the Japanese war effort. To compound the necessity of retaking the Philippines, General Douglas MacArthur stated that the Allies had a moral obligation to liberate the islands as he had told the people, "I shall return," when he was forced to retreat to Australia in the winter of 1942. Other plans to bypass the Philippines and attack Formosa (Taiwan) had been presented but due to the large amount of Japanese air assets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Halsey's 3rd fleet, and Admiral Kinkaid's 7th fleet were called into action. This, along with Task Force 38, under the command of Vice Admiral Marc Mitscher would bring a total of over 300 naval vessels to bear on the region. This immense swarm of ships would include eight fleet carriers, 8 light carriers, 18 escort carriers, 12 battleships, 24 cruisers, and 166 destroyers, escorts, and submarines. The carriers would bring a full load of approximately 1,500 planes to the battles that would ensue. Opposing this herculean force was the Japanese Northern Force under Vice Admiral Jisaburo Ozawa, Southern Force under Vice Admirals Shoji Nishimura and Kiyohide Shima, and the most powerful Central Force under the command of Takeo Kurito. Together these fleets comprised of one fleet carrier, three light carriers, nine battleships, 14 heavy cruisers, 6 light cruisers, and over 35 destroyers. They would be reinforced by nearly 300 land based aircraft from the nearby islands. With close to 400 naval vessels and almost 2000 aircraft in total the Battle of Leyte Gulf would become the largest naval battle in world history and the outcome could make or break the outcome of the war on either ... • 3. Little Paradise Taught me to Appreciate Beauty Everywhere... The loud grumbling noise from the ferry boat reminded me of a car's engine complaining of old age. Most people around us took no notice of it and went about relaxing and enjoying their time. The soft rocking of the boat made my stomach squeaky and my head dizzy. I felt a mixture of excitement and apprehension since that was our first trip as a married couple to an unfamiliar island. As I looked outside the window, I saw the blue ocean glistening in the sunshine like tiny crystals. I looked up to the sky and saw no trace of a cloud. "This would be a beautiful day", I thought to myself. Suddenly, a deep friendly voice overhead announced we were about to reach our destination. Accessibility to and around the area is easy. Food and accommodation are affordable. For these reasons, my husband and I chose Bohol as the place to be for our honeymoon. As we stepped out of the ferry, we were immediately greeted by the clean salty scent of unpolluted seas. At the port, we picked a friendly guide to show us around using his vehicle. He first took us to the town of Carmen, where the world famous Chocolate Hills rest. From the drop–off point, we climbed 214 steps to the viewing deck to experience the hills' extraordinary splendor. Draped with greenish–brown grass, the hills looked like chocolate kisses dropped from the sky. My husband said that it looked more like a collection of giant molehills. According to our guide, the hills are actually resplendent green during the rainy months. However, when summer comes, it turns into dark brown color just like a rich luscious chocolate. From the hills, we proceeded to Panglao Beach Resort located in Panglao Island, the second largest island of Bohol, which is attached to the mainland by a bridge. I was in awe the moment I saw the beach. The white sand looked like pure silk spread along the coast. It glittered like diamonds against the raging sunlight. There are over 32 species of seahorse, mainly found in shallow tropical and temperate waters throughout the world. Furthermore, to measure the toll that incubation takes on a male, Masonjones built a tiny respirator that records oxygen concentrations in water flowing into and out of a chamber. Before a male took on eggs, she checked his baseline need for oxygen. Then, she monitored the increase as the incubation progressed. The male's body had to work hard by the end of incubation, consuming almost a third again as much oxygen as he did before mating. To correct for oxygen used by the growing brood, Masonjones managed to keep ¼ inch–high premature seahorses alive outside the pouch so she could measure their oxygen needs. Although they undergo weeks of incubation, males directly contribute only half as much energy for offspring as females do. [5]Therefore, they do in fact fit into the widespread pattern of the less–invested sex being the less–choosy. {text:bookmark– start} {text:bookmark–end} Adaptations The question of why it is the males who undergo pregnancy rather than the females is actually not entirely known, though some researchers believe male pregnancy allows for shorter birthing intervals, hence more offspring. When looking at which sex has the ability to produce more young if they had an unlimited number of ready and willing partners, males have the potential to produce 17 percent more in a breeding season. As a result, my pilgrimage will take place in the Philippines, but not just to go and see the sights and enjoy the food, but to find a rainbow Eucalyptus tree, "The tree is the only Eucalyptus species found naturally in the northern hemisphere. And yes, it's also native in the Philippines, but it's not found solely in that part of the country, but in other islands as well, such as Negros."(The Rainbow Tree of Bago City) This journey will test my knowledge of the botany and wildlife in the Philippines, without ever being there myself. Not to be confused with the far richer coconut milk, coconut water is a clear liquid extracted from very young green coconuts. It's billed as "nature's sports drink" because like Gatorade and other energy drinks, it contains water for rehydration, carbohydrates in the form of sugar for energy, and electrolytes to replace what's lost through sweat. In most cases, the best way to restore your body's fluids and electrolytes after exercise is simply with water and food, particularly fruit. In cases of severe exertion or illness, however, a quick electrolyte boost may be necessary. For those reluctant to consume sports drinks with all their added colors, flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, nature has provided the perfect rehydrating drink and that is the coconut water. Coconut water is found inside the cavity of a young, unripe coconut. The balance of electrolytes in coconut water is nearly the same as that in the human blood.

  • 45. Descriptive Essay About My Mandala My Mandala A Mandala is a circular design that is seen throughout many cultures around the world. It is a symbolic piece of art used for enlightenment, protection, healing, or something else depending on the culture. They are often made for meditation as well, and even deconstructed at the end. The Mandala I created expresses who I am. It spans from my hobbies and favorite places to my ethnicity. This Mandala has helped me to understand who I am, and how I've changed and grown throughout these 14 years. The middle of my Mandala represents the love I have for my family. The heart represents love, and the people circling it are my family, from both of my parents sides. I made it so that every family member was wearing a different colored shirt to represent diversity, and my grandfather and grandmother are wearing Disney merchandise because of their passion for Disney. My mom and her sister Zdanna are wearing matching necklaces, to represent their connection with each other, and they actually do have similar necklaces. The large portion on the left symbolizes how much I went to Disney World as a kid, and how I grew up watching Disney movies. I love watching the fireworks and Tinkerbell flying over the Magic Kingdom, so I drew those onto my mandala. The three people watching the fireworks are my mom, my dad, and me. Thus, the relationship between heritage and tourism and tourism is often characterised by conflicts where heritage tourism is perceived as compromising conservation goals for the benefit of profit (Nuryanti, 1996). However, the costs present in the conservation of heritage make the revenue from tourism indispensable. The mutual benefits that are perceived lead both sectors to common economic goals, and towards creating money for the local community while simultaneously supporting the preservation of its culture (Peters, 1999). But only banks are forced to reveal them, and several have billions of dollars worth of policies. "The driving force behind it is the tax deductions," he said. The life insurance policies were designed to allow companies to insure a few crucial executives. Savvy companies then realized they could also get a tax break by insuring many lower–level employees.
