Caring for a baby takes a lot of time and energy I will keep in mind when planning that babies
require a lot of hands on care by the means of feeding, changing and cuddling the majority being
immediate attention. I understand that naptimes and feeding may take longer than anticipated and
there for will take priority over other activities and outings. Activities involving smaller toys and
smaller resources will be avoided as babies tend to put everything in their mouths. I will aim to keep
these activities for when babies are sleeping or when they are involved in free play time. Infants will
be encouraged to exercise by means of stretching and moving as it is important for their muscles to
be used this will be carried out in a safe environment. Having a baby in the setting will provide
focus for other children in the setting to be mothering and understand the importance of being gentle

My First Visit With A Wooden Doll House
SETTING: I completed my Infant – Toddler Observation on Wednesday the 16th between 8am –
10:30am and Friday the 18th of March between noon – 3pm. I felt it was necessary to visit Lily
twice as she was very shy and non– responsive on my first visit. On my first visit I arrived at 8am to
find Lily sitting in the corner facing the wall paging through a book as if she was reading. There
were 10 children ranging in ages 21 months to 48 months in one room approximately 10x12. There
were two book cases and a wooden doll house all three items were up against the wall allowing the
children to have the center of the room to play. Books were available for the children to look
through, there were some cars, blocks and dolls for the children to play with if they wanted to. There
was a rocking chair for the teacher to sit in whenever they were not involved with the children.
There were two teachers' as state laws require 1 teacher/ 5 toddler ratio and there were 5 toddlers
ranging between 21 months and 32 months. At 8:30am we preceded to move all five toddlers ages
21 months to 32 months into another room about 10x10. In this room there was a bookshelf that
contained numerous books for the toddlers to look through some fisher price toys that were age
appropriate for this group of children to use. A sink with an attached counter for changing the

In the movie of, "Baby Geniuses", their are scientist, Dr. Elena Kinder and Dr. Heep that study and
conduct research on toddlers/babies. They use the funds for the studies to operate a theme park
called, "Joyworld", BabyCo. Dr. Kinder research is based on that babies are born possessing vast,

Observation Summary About the video.
The video shows an instructor for the daycare sitting on the ground with three stunning toddlers
attracting in an activity. The video indicates that the teacher has a plastic bottle (the bottle is empty)
that is left open and have a few wood clothespins. The three toddlers have as a minimum one or two
clothespins each. The daycare trainer holds the plastic bottle in front of each infant individually with
hoping that one of the infants would place the wood clothespin thru the opened pinnacle to finally
drop the clothespin inside the plastic bottle. The video shows that the trainer has a plastic bottle (the
bottle is empty) that is left open and feature some wooden clothespins. The three babies have at least
one or clothespins each. The daycare instructor holds the plastic bottle in the front of each infant in
my opinion with hoping that one of the toddlers might location the timber clothespin through the
opened top to ultimately drop the clothespin inside the plastic bottle. By the stop of the video, the
daycare trainer is aware that the third toddler (the 1/3 little one with the blond hair) is having an
entirely tough time setting his clothespin inside the plastic bottle. The instructor noticed that he has
about three clothespins in his hand which she took away two, leaving him with one clothespin, the

Service Learning At Fraser School
I participated in service learning at Fraser school in Richfield. Starting in September I helped out in
a toddler age classroom every Thursday. Fraser school is a preschool setting for infants and toddlers.
Besides getting the children kindergarten ready and offering a somewhat typical day of
daycare/school, Fraser offers occupational, physical, and speech therapy. Some of the children have
disabilities and some do not, Fraser is not discriminatory and they provide care for anyone. Some of
the things I did in the classroom were prepare snack and lunch for the children, play games,
participate in art projects, music, and reading, and play games with the children. The two teachers
really appreciated my help, as I was provided an extra hand for them while they prepared daily
activities. Playtime was usually hectic for the group and it needed to be closely monitored. I was
also able to keep the children safe and keep a close eye on the total of twelve toddlers during
playtime. My experiences at Fraser helped me understand many topics we talked about in our Intro
to Sociology class. A few topics that stood out to me the most were the idea of social integration and
many of the functions of the education system, the three stages in the development of self,

General Information: On Wednesday, October 5th, I read to an infant during my placement time at
the Cortland Child Care Center. The children in the infant number two room varied from ages 3
months to 11 months old. I chose to read to Bentley, who is our oldest infant in the room at 11
months. We read The Very Hungry Caterpillar designed, illustrated, and written by Eric Carle. I
chose this book because I resonate this book strongly with my childhood. The book contains a
variety of concepts necessary early learning such as colors, days of the week, and numbers. A lot can
be understood when reading this book to an infant or toddler. It took about 15 minutes to read The
Very Hungry Caterpillar to Bentley. We began the reading at 1:45 until about 2:00 o'clock to finish
our book. During this time the younger infants were down for their nap, which was a perfect time to

Entertainment technology "is the discipline of using manufactured or created components to
enhance or make possible in any sort of entertainment experience"(dictionary.com). Entertainment
technology is used for many different reasons as well as necessities such as work, school,
communication, and social media. The rapid emergence of entertainment technology has changed
the way the world works and interacts with each other. It has changed many aspects of
communication, but is this rapid change necessarily a good thing? Should there be an age limit to
exposure and usage? As entertainment technology has come into the world, so has a negative side
