2. The first thing I did on my
contents page was to
keep the background
black using the rectangle
tool. This was to ensure
that I could provide more
depth to the colour
scheme and find a
medium between the
bright, light colours of my
front cover and the
darkness of my double
page spread.
3. The second feature that I
incorporated into my contents
page was the ‘contents’ title. I
did this using the text tool,
and I decided that the font
‘Bauhaus’ would fit well with
the rest of my magazine. I
also used the same colour
from my front cover and
double page spread. I felt that
it was important to maintain
the colour scheme throughout
as it ensures that my
magazine has a recognisable
identity and fits well together.
I also incorporated my ‘Neon’
masthead into the contents
page to ensure brand identity.
4. I then inserted the images
for my contents page
by selecting file, place
and then choosing the
appropriate content.
The images used are
relevant to the articles
and they also epitomise
the ‘indie’ genre. They
also fit the colour
scheme and are
arranged in an order
that is both appealing
and easy for the reader
to follow.
5. The next step was to add my
features using the text tool. I
had previously typed these out
into a word document and
simply copied and pasted them
into the text box. I made the
page numbers prominent by
applying the same blue that is
seen throughout my magazine
to them. The text is white and
therefore looks bold against
the black background. The
feature articles all mention
indie bands and content, thus
making this step extremely
applicable to the indie genre of
my magazine. The font I used
is minion pro which sits well
against the other fonts on the
page.
6. Similarly, I added
the regulars
using the text tool
and underwent
the same
process. The
font, colours and
format of the
features and
regulars is the
same.
7. Next, I added the
date in the corner,
again maintaining
the colour
scheme. This is a
common feature
of professional
magazines.
8. I then added a subscription
box which is another
common feature for a
music magazine. I
included subscription and
social media details and I
also inserted an image of
my front cover. I changed
the font from the features
and regulars columns to
ensure diversity between
the two. I also added a line
to separate the
subscription from the
features using the line tool.
9. Finally, I added page
numbers to the
pictures, thus
connecting the
appropriate
articles to their
images.
