Ok class, let us have first a review about the
topic we discussed yesterday.
Who can give the last topic that we’ve discuss
yesterday? Yes, ________? Sir, we discuss the types of hazards.
Very good, can you give one type of hazard,
_______?
Sir, biological hazard.
Very good, and what is the example of a
biological hazard?
Virus and bacteria, sir.
Very good, it is great to know that you learn a
lot from our lesson yesterday.
5. Motivation
Now, before we start our new discussion, I
would like to share a short story.
It is a story about Kevin, The Caregiver.
Would you like to know the story of Kevin?
Yes, sir.
Kevin is a caregiver,
One day, her mother got sick with bad viruses.
Kevin would like to help and take good care of
his mother. But, he is afraid that he will get
himself sick too.
He needs something to protect his body, but he
doesn’t know what is it.
Kevin, needs your help, can you help Kevin?
Would you like to help Kevin? Yes, Sir.
Yes, Sir.
B. Lesson Proper
1. Activity
To help Kevin, you will be divided into three.
Each group will be given a task that would help
Kevin to take good care of his mother. Is that
clear class? Yes, Sir.
Each group will be given an envelope, with the
task inside, you will only be given 3 minutes to
accomplish it. After three minutes, one
representative will read their task and explain

2. Analysis
What you have done is related to our new
discussion. Do you have any idea what are we
going to discuss today? Yes, _______?
I think we are going to discuss the different
personal protective equipment.
Very good. For this afternoon, we are going to
discuss the personal protective equipment or
PPE in caregiving.
Let’s have first our Vocabulary Word of the
day.
Can you spell the word “CONTAGIOUS”
Do you know what is the meaning of the word
C-O-N-T-A-G-I-O-U-S
4
Prepared by: Jerico O. Fabricante | Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in TLE
Contagious?
Yes very good.
Contagious means capable of being easily spread
to others or animals
For example contagious diseases. What does it
mean?
Can you relate the word contagious to the
personal protective device?
Yes sir, contagious means transmittable.
It means that diseases are can easily
spread.
Personal protective equipment is used to
protect our bodies from contagious
diseases.
Yes, very good.
That is one of the purposes of the PPE, to protect
us, a caregiver from these diseases.
PPE is specialized clothing or equipment used to
prevent contact with a hazardous substance.
Our first protective device is this.
What do you call this thing?
It is an eye protector
Very good,
Let us discuss first the.
Why do you think eye protection is needed in
caregiving.?
Sir, eye protector is needed to protect our
eyes from being injured especially when
taking care or handling sick people.
Exactly! Very good.
What is the proper way to wear eye protectors?
Eye protectors should be worn in front of
our eyes.
Yes. Very good.
Let me demonstrate to you first the proper way
to wear the protective eyewear
Next is
5
Prepared by: Jerico O. Fabricante | Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in TLE
Do you know what it is?
Very good!
Why do you think the medical mask is needed in
caregiving?
Yes, sir, it is a medical mask.
The medical mask is needed to protect our
mouth and nose from being contaminated
by a virus or bacteria.
Exactly very good.
So what is the proper way to wear the medical
mask?
Very good.
There are two sides to the medical mask which
are white and blue. And there are two ways to
wear a medical mask.
Why do you think the medical mask has two
sides?
Yes very good!.
The white side contains a filter. Therefore, if you
have flu, it should be attached to your face so
that the blue side faces out to prevent the germs
from spreading outwards. If you are not ill, the
white side should be facing out to protect micro-
organism from the environment to come into
contact with you.
Place the medical mask to protect our nose
and mouth with the straps secured behind
our ear.
Sir, it is to identify who is sick and who is
not.
Our next protective device is..
Do you know what is this?
Why do you think gloves are needed in
caregiving?
Yes, sir, it is gloves
Hand gloves are needed to prevent direct
contact from hazards such as blood,
viruses, and bacteria that may cause the
spread of diseases
Exactly!
What is the proper way to wear hand gloves?
6
Prepared by: Jerico O. Fabricante | Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in TLE
Insert the hand gloves to a hand carefully
to avoid damaging the gloves.
Very good.
Let me demonstrate to you how to wear the hand
gloves.
Now, class, do you think Kevin is completely
equipped with personal protective equipment?
No sir,
What do you think is missing to complete the
personal protection equipment of Kevin.
He needs something to protect his body.
Yes, very good.
And what it could be?
a white coat sir.
Very good.
Why do you think a white coat also known as a
lab coat is needed in caregiving.
It is needed to protect our body from direct
contact from hazards.
Exactly, very good.
Medical professionals use lab coat to protect
them from direct contact from fluid or blood
which can cause hazards.
Now that our personal protective equipment is
complete, can you give a global health update
or issue in health where the personal protective
device is much needed?
Sir, the fast-spreading of the Corona Virus.
Yes, very good.
Now that you said the issue about the
coronavirus I will give you class, a Trivia.
Did you know class that the current number of
confirmed cases of Corona Virus as of March 4,
2O2O is 93,526 and 3,2O4 number of deaths?
From the given data, what is the fatality rate or
the percentage of death rate? 3.4% sir,
How do we get the 3.4%? The number of death 32O4 divided by the
total victims 93,526. Then multiply by
1OO
7
Prepared by: Jerico O. Fabricante | Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in TLE
Yes very good.
And here is the list of cases of NCoV 19
China – 8O,282
S. Korea – 5261
Italy – 2,5O2
Philippines – 3
From the total confirmed cases, what is the
percentage rate of China?
85 % sir
What about South Korea?
Very good. What about the Philippines?
5.6% sir
O.OO3%
3. Abstraction
Again class, what is Personal protective
equipment?
Personal protective equipment is the
equipment used to avoid and protect our
bodies from different hazards.
Can you enumerate the different PPE in
caregiving?
Medical mask
Eye protector
Gloves
Whitecoat
Can you think of a situation where PPE is
necessary?
In taking care of sick people like a patient
with coronavirus.
What do you think is the advantages or the
benefits of PPE especially in taking care of sick
people like what you said, patient with
coronavirus.
It helps us to prevent being contaminated
or getting ourselves sick.
What do you think will happen if you don’t use
PPE and you need to take care of sick people?
I will be sick too.
Why do you think PPE is important in
caregiving?
As a caregiver, PPE provides us protection
from different hazards, from getting sick
and the transfer of viruses or bacteria.
Very good!
4. Application
For our last activity, with your same grouping,
you will need to do different tasks. Each group
will be given an envelope with a task inside and
they will be given 5 minutes to accomplish it. Is
that clear class?
Yes, sir!
8
Prepared by: Jerico O. Fabricante | Bachelor in Secondary Education, Major in TLE
This activity will be graded based on the
following criteria.
Presentation of idea
and skills
