Effects of Husker Football on the Local Economy You're sitting 70 rows up in the end zone of
Memorial Stadium. You have a pair of someone's knees digging into your back and you keep
hearing a fan of the opposing team yelling profanities constantly. You can't decide whether to get a
slice of Valentino's pizza or to save the $10 for celebrating later that night. As soon as the tunnel
walk song starts, not only can you see all the red from outer–space, you can hear them all loud and
clear. The Husker football experience can give a person goosebumps in a matter of seconds. As a
local Nebraskan resident, there's nothing that brings us together more than the sport. Win or lose,
you can guarantee a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For better or worse, we often don't know until the last play of the game. Success of local bars and
restaurants can hinge on a win or loss during the home game season. Our spending habits correlate
with the success of the men on the field representing us as Huskers. Their name recognition helps
charities and other organizations gain funding and volunteers. The essence of the red N can be seen
on business signs, households, flags, bumper stickers, and even office supplies. We can feel the
experience of Husker nation in most parts of our social lives. We connect easily with the ecstatic
atmosphere we experience when attending games, and find comfort in products that reconnect us
with that place. When our beloved team loses a game, we spend less money on recreation and
business suffers. Knowing this, we have at least 7 home games a year, to promote our economy. The
town of Lincoln, Nebraska, is truly a town that bleeds Husker

Essay on Coach Bowden
Bobby Bowden began his lifelong love for football at an early age. As a young child he would often
climb onto the roof of his house and sit for hours watching the local high school team run practice
drills. Bobby played football while a student at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama
and again in college, first at the University of Alabama and then at Howard College (now Samford
University).
Bobby's coaching career began in 1954 as an assistant coach at Howard College. After working as
an assistant coach at Howard for two years he was offered a head coaching position at South
Georgia Junior College. Bobby stayed with South Georgia for two years pulling double duty as head
coach of the football team and athletic director. Bobby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Florida State only won four games in a three year stretch before Bowden came along in '76. After
taking the reins at Florida State, Bobby immediately got to work transforming the Seminoles into
the team that it is today. Over the years he has recruited many star athletes to come play football for
Florida State including dozens of All–Americans, two Heisman Trophy winners and many star
athletes that would also become stars in the NFL.
The 1977 season brought Bobby his best season record to date finishing the season at 10–2 and
finally beating in state rival Florida after losing to them the previous nine seasons. The Seminole
squad was gaining much needed national exposure as the media started praising Bobby and his team
on their achievements. Bobby Bowden was named the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year in
1980 and in 1983 and was inducted in the Florida Sports Hall of Fame.
Over the next decade Bobby Bowden would lead his Seminoles to a post season bowl game every
season except 1981. The loss to Oklahoma in the 1981 Orange Bowl would be Bowden's last loss in
a bowl game for the next fifteen years. In 1987 Bobby coached his Seminoles to what would be the
first of a 14 year long streak in which they won 10 or more games.
Bobby has coached many star athletes during his tenure as head coach including Florida State's first
Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward, Warrick Dunn, arguably the most popular college football
player of the 90s, and Chris Weinke, the

The Greatest Pass Rusher Of College Football
By: Daryan Jessie
"The greatest pass rusher in college football today" said Coach Tom Osborne of the Nebraska,
Cornhuskers. Have you ever heard of "the biggest ovation you never heard." 73,650 fans all for a
single deaf person named Kenny Walker. It was his last game for university and he was going on to
the Denver Broncos.
Kenny Walker was born in april 6th, 1967, in Crane, TX. He became deaf at the age of 2, from
spinal meningitis. He was offered a football scholarship from the University of Nebraska
Rare is it that warmth crowds wrath for the spotlight when the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the
Colorado Buffaloes crack helmets in their annual Big Eight showdown. Yet that was the mood this
season at chilly Memorial Stadium in Lincoln as fans applauded loudly every senior playing his
final home game.
Nothing matched the reception waiting Kenny Walker, however. He received the biggest ovation
you never heard. There was no applause. When Walker ran onto the field for the last time, he saw
Big Red fans thanking him in sign language. They were ' 'deaf clapping, ' ' a majority of the 73,650
using a hand gesture to show affection that went far beyond Walker 's crunching tackles and sacks as
an All–America lineman. Their arms raised, appropriately, like a referee signaling touchdown and
their wrists rotating counterclockwise, the fans ' 'applauded ' ' Walker.
Deaf since contracting spinal meningitis at 2, Walker had inspired the Midwest, publicly sharing his

Case Study Of Omaha Stingers At The University Of...
After being discussed, it has been decided that the Omaha Stingers will play their first season at the
university of Nebraska's Memorial Stadium. This stadium is located in Lincoln, which is about an
hour away from Omaha. It can hold up to 87000 people, and it has suitable accommodations for this
amount of people. This was one of the first choices, not only because it was the closest football
stadium, but it could hold sufficiently hold the amount of fans that we project to bring in during the
first season. There are many different concession and restrooms located spread out throughout the
concourse which helps to accommodate the large crowds.

The Game Against Ohio State
After losing back–to–back Big Ten match–ups by a combined score of 121–6, the 5–5 Terrapins still
hope to notch one more victory to seal their first bowl game appearance since 2014. BIG Ten
Struggles With the largest home crowd of the season (48,090) in attendance, it was difficult for fans
to witness their Terps get blown out by 59 points. Last Saturday's game against Ohio State can be
summed up by injuries, poor defense, turnovers, and a loss of morale. After fifth year quarterback
Perry Hills was knocked out of the game, fellow senior quarterback Caleb Rowe finished the rest of
the half with 93 yards and an interception. True freshman quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome stepped in to
finish the game that ended 62–3. Although all three signal–callers combined for a total of 133 yard
passing, the running game was no better. The rushing attack totaled only 43 yards. The longest run
of the game was an 11 yard scramble by Tyrrell Pigrome, which was called back for a penalty. After
winning the first four games, the Terps have dropped five of their last six outings. First year head
coach D.J. Durkin has lead the Terrapins to a 5–5 record with already two more wins than last year's
3–9 finish. However, all five of their losses have come from Big Ten opponents, leaving the Terps
2–5 in the conference. The Terrapins rank in the bottom half of both total offense and defense as
their points for/against ratio is 9:16. Besides the close games against Michigan State and India, most

College Football Playoff Rankings Report
The latest version of the College Football Playoff rankings has been released. We're one week closer
the National Championship, and virtually nothing is any clearer than the previous weeks. The top
four teams in the rankings remained unchanged – Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan –
and most experts agree that Alabama is a virtual lock to stay at the top. The rest of the party,
especially the Big Ten representative (s), is very much up in the air. We'll skip past the Crimson
Tide, as they're expected to get past Auburn in the Iron Bowl this weekend and coast through the
SEC Championship game. Although, Auburn has won two Iron Bowls since 2010. Ohio State hosts
Michigan on Saturday in what could be a play–in game for a spot among the top four playoff teams.
In the muddled mess that is the Big Ten East Division, an Ohio State win coupled with a Penn State
win over Michigan State would send the Nittany Lions to the Big Ten Championship game. ... Show

By that time, we'll know the outcome of the Washington versus Washington State game. If these
scenarios play out, the new rankings would likely have Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and
Wisconsin in the top four spots going into the championship games. At that point, the college
football landscape becomes a game of "wait and see", halted until the championship games play out.
Of course, if Washington wins this weekend and Alabama, Clemson or Wisconsin loses, it could set
up mass chaos for the championship games on Dec 3. New teams could enter the fray, as Penn State
could still have a shot with a win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship. Meanwhile, the Big
12 is the dark horse with the winner of the Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State game potentially
making a huge jump in the

Colin Kaepernick National Anthem Analysis
"O. say can you see, by the dawn's early light, What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last
gleaming" I can picture myself in a big loud stadium surrounded by thousands of other football fans
singing or listening to these words. I can see the images of the football players getting pumped while
the anthem is sung. Quarterbacks ready to throw for long touchdowns, defenders eager to tackle.
Then suddenly my eye is caught by the fact that one or two players are kneeling. I am confused.
Why would they be kneeling during the anthem? I later discovered that NFL players starting with
Colin Kaepernick decided to sit or kneel during the National Anthem in protest of racial
discrimination and the death of African American individuals in encounters ... Show more content

It has led to division in our nation and has not helped improve the situation of those individuals
whom they are protesting for. Clearly, there are more effective things these athletes could have done
to make a difference. In order to understand why and how Kaepernick's actions have been very
counterproductive we must consider what he stated and what was the response to it. ""I am not
going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of
color," Kaepernick told NFL Media in an exclusive interview after the game. "To me, this is bigger
than football and it would be selfish on my part to look the other way. There are bodies in the street
and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder". Kaepernick stated this in response to
the controversial shootings of African American individuals by police men. There has been an
extraordinary debate about the social and racial issues in America but Colin Kaepernick–NFL
quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers–started a very controversial debate with a simple act sitting
or kneeling during the National

The atmosphere of a professional team's stadium is something you cannot experience anywhere else,
as soon as you step onto campus you instantly feel the excitement of game day as thousands upon
thousands of fans prepare to watch their team play today. As you take your seat and prepare for the
legendary tunnel walk you join in with the roar of the crowd. All of my life I have always been a
huge fan of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, they are a college football team located in Lincoln,
Nebraska. Even since I was a newborn baby I have been dressed in the colors of the Cornhuskers

As a prominent defender on the gridiron in the sun, defending the ball of brown took the Hurricanes

than they ever had before. Despite the history of my time in the winning world of the gridiron, my
fame was found in the ring. My names were many, from Rocky Maivia to Flex Kavana, always
wanting to show my affection for my Samoan ancestry of the Ocean in the west. This life came to
me as I never was able to move from the Greens of Miami to those of the professional leagues. My
greatest foe arrived at the end of my time in the ring. The foulest of mouths John of the Cenas

of candy – pelting each other with tough mints and spicy gumdrops. But, when the time arrived for
us to come face to face, it was as if I was facing a Goliath of a man. He had grown, possibly through

Marcell Dareus 'Paid Athletes' Pay For Play
PAY FOR PLAY The issue of pay for play has gone back for decades not just on the collegiate level
but on the professional level. Athletes, over the years, have verbally attacked the unfairness of the
NCAA or professional owners unfairly profiting of the sweat of the athletes backs. I believe paying
athletes a modest amount would lessen the temptation to break NCAA rules by taking cash from
boosters, agents and anyone else willing to give it. For example, is the case of Cam Newton's,
former Auburn quarterback. Reports were released stating that former Mississippi State assistants
and a booster had contacted Newton's father, Cecil Newton, about payments for his signature with
the Bulldogs. In another SEC scandal, Marcell Dareus was ruled ineligible ... Show more content on

Without this payment, these athletes are merely workers for their institutions who get no
compensation – a bit like free labor or dare to say slavery don't you think?
On the other side of this heated exchange are the pundits who say that college athletes are amateurs
and are already being paid in terms of their scholarship. Mind you that a vast majority of the
opposition have never played college athletics themselves so they wouldn't know what it is like to
be in the shoes of an athlete who has a full scholarship, and even though that scholarship covers
tuition, books, meals, housing, and other related costs, it does not cover the extra costs that make up
a part of the student–athlete's life such as money to provide food for the athlete's little sibling back
home who would otherwise be fed if the athlete was working instead of playing sports, and money
to support a child which some athletes may have. (Sturgill). So to be clear, a scholarship is nice and
all but no matter how much of a "full ride" or "all inclusive" it is, it doesn't cover everything.
All in all, the fact of the matter here is that the NCAA is a widely matured money making machine
with thousands of athletes being the motor powering it to newer heights. Even with this, it seems
like all the components – the schools, patrons, fans, coaches, etc. – are profiting, all but

Essay on Paying College Athletes
Should college athletes get paid more money?
There has been a constant debate the past few years on whether college athletes, particularly football
players, should get paid. In 1988, the Nebraska legislature passed a bill that would allow the
University of Nebraska football players to receive better cash incentives. The bill was later vetoed
by Governor Kay Orr, who was governor of Nebraska at the time (O'Toole etal. 2). . The dispute
comes from coaches, parents of the players, and the players themselves arguing that universities
make money off their own athletes and the athletes, in turn, do not receive any money from that.
Many NCAA officials disagree stating their case that college athletes already receive ... Show more

But the bill is getting exploited by NCAA rules and by the official in the Big 12.
According to Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg, the bill, if passed in Nebraska, has a slim
chance of passing in other states that has schools in the Big 12. He states, "At this point, I know of
no other state legislative activity that relates to a bill like this" (cite). Weiberg expands on how he is
not alone in this decision by saying, "Our presidents and chancellors have been uniformly opposed
to any plan that would give the appearance of play–for–pay"(O'Toole etal. 2). With these statements
it seems like Chambers doesn't have good position in getting the bill passed, but the bill can initiate
an argument saying that if college athletes do not get paid, the temptation of illegal consumption of
money by athletes could rise.
In agreeing with Weiberg, Wally Renfro, who is an assistant to NCAA president Myles Brand,
states, "It (the bill) shouldn't happen for two reasons. One is philosophical. It's not the model of
intercollegiate athletics. Second, it's impractical. They're basically talking, I think, about paying
football players. I don't think that's going to stand the test of a court challenge from students who

Nutrition In College Athletes
Nutrition is not a topic many people College athletes have shown a lack of knowledge about
nutrition, which can cause adverse effects in college and later in life, it is athletic departments' job to
educate athletes by hiring registered dietitians (RD) and implementing a nutrition curriculum for
athletes. College athletes rely heavily on what their bodies look like as a way to gauge their
performance and often times nutrition and the quality of their diets is neglected. Athletes have ideas
about what their body composition should be for their sport, whether they need to be lean, muscular,
or bulky. However, those preconceived ideas about body composition can cause athletes to
consumer fewer or more calories than recommended by RD. In the scholarly ... Show more content

Athletes may see results faster, feel better, and have more energy; something that can improve their
performance in both athletics and academics. Providing athletes with a RD can change the way
athletes think about food. Junior running back Rux Burkhead, "under the supervision of the
Cornhuskers' RD, can account for every calorie and carb that goes into his body... he has never felt

understanding of nutrition. Educating athletes can be a long process and it does take effort, but
athletes are disciplined, want to compete to the best of their abilities. Registered dietitians can show
them how to achieve those goals starting with a proper diet to support their training levels. Given a
resource like a RD, athletes would understand what their bodies' need, when, and why so that they
could make healthy decisions even when a dietitian is not

Husker Football Research Paper

  • 1. Husker Football Research Paper Cole Johnson Microeconomics 3/1/2016 Gary Benson Effects of Husker Football on the Local Economy You're sitting 70 rows up in the end zone of Memorial Stadium. You have a pair of someone's knees digging into your back and you keep hearing a fan of the opposing team yelling profanities constantly. You can't decide whether to get a slice of Valentino's pizza or to save the $10 for celebrating later that night. As soon as the tunnel walk song starts, not only can you see all the red from outer–space, you can hear them all loud and clear. The Husker football experience can give a person goosebumps in a matter of seconds. As a local Nebraskan resident, there's nothing that brings us together more than the sport. Win or lose, you can guarantee a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For better or worse, we often don't know until the last play of the game. Success of local bars and restaurants can hinge on a win or loss during the home game season. Our spending habits correlate with the success of the men on the field representing us as Huskers. Their name recognition helps charities and other organizations gain funding and volunteers. The essence of the red N can be seen on business signs, households, flags, bumper stickers, and even office supplies. We can feel the experience of Husker nation in most parts of our social lives. We connect easily with the ecstatic atmosphere we experience when attending games, and find comfort in products that reconnect us with that place. When our beloved team loses a game, we spend less money on recreation and business suffers. Knowing this, we have at least 7 home games a year, to promote our economy. • 5. Essay on Coach Bowden Bobby Bowden began his lifelong love for football at an early age. As a young child he would often climb onto the roof of his house and sit for hours watching the local high school team run practice drills. Bobby played football while a student at Woodlawn High School in Birmingham, Alabama and again in college, first at the University of Alabama and then at Howard College (now Samford University). Bobby's coaching career began in 1954 as an assistant coach at Howard College. After working as an assistant coach at Howard for two years he was offered a head coaching position at South Georgia Junior College. Bobby stayed with South Georgia for two years pulling double duty as head coach of the football team and athletic director. Bobby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Florida State only won four games in a three year stretch before Bowden came along in '76. After taking the reins at Florida State, Bobby immediately got to work transforming the Seminoles into the team that it is today. Over the years he has recruited many star athletes to come play football for Florida State including dozens of All–Americans, two Heisman Trophy winners and many star athletes that would also become stars in the NFL. The 1977 season brought Bobby his best season record to date finishing the season at 10–2 and finally beating in state rival Florida after losing to them the previous nine seasons. The Seminole squad was gaining much needed national exposure as the media started praising Bobby and his team on their achievements. Bobby Bowden was named the Bobby Dodd National Coach of the Year in 1980 and in 1983 and was inducted in the Florida Sports Hall of Fame. Over the next decade Bobby Bowden would lead his Seminoles to a post season bowl game every season except 1981. The loss to Oklahoma in the 1981 Orange Bowl would be Bowden's last loss in a bowl game for the next fifteen years. In 1987 Bobby coached his Seminoles to what would be the first of a 14 year long streak in which they won 10 or more games. Bobby has coached many star athletes during his tenure as head coach including Florida State's first Heisman Trophy winner Charlie Ward, Warrick Dunn, arguably the most popular college football player of the 90s, and Chris Weinke, the ... Have you ever heard of "the biggest ovation you never heard." 73,650 fans all for a single deaf person named Kenny Walker. It was his last game for university and he was going on to the Denver Broncos. Kenny Walker was born in april 6th, 1967, in Crane, TX. He became deaf at the age of 2, from spinal meningitis. He was offered a football scholarship from the University of Nebraska Rare is it that warmth crowds wrath for the spotlight when the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Colorado Buffaloes crack helmets in their annual Big Eight showdown. Yet that was the mood this season at chilly Memorial Stadium in Lincoln as fans applauded loudly every senior playing his final home game. Nothing matched the reception waiting Kenny Walker, however. He received the biggest ovation you never heard. There was no applause. When Walker ran onto the field for the last time, he saw Big Red fans thanking him in sign language. They were ' 'deaf clapping, ' ' a majority of the 73,650 using a hand gesture to show affection that went far beyond Walker 's crunching tackles and sacks as an All–America lineman. • 11. The Game Against Ohio State After losing back–to–back Big Ten match–ups by a combined score of 121–6, the 5–5 Terrapins still hope to notch one more victory to seal their first bowl game appearance since 2014. BIG Ten Struggles With the largest home crowd of the season (48,090) in attendance, it was difficult for fans to witness their Terps get blown out by 59 points. Last Saturday's game against Ohio State can be summed up by injuries, poor defense, turnovers, and a loss of morale. After fifth year quarterback Perry Hills was knocked out of the game, fellow senior quarterback Caleb Rowe finished the rest of the half with 93 yards and an interception. True freshman quarterback Tyrrell Pigrome stepped in to finish the game that ended 62–3. Although all three signal–callers combined for a total of 133 yard passing, the running game was no better. The rushing attack totaled only 43 yards. The longest run of the game was an 11 yard scramble by Tyrrell Pigrome, which was called back for a penalty. After winning the first four games, the Terps have dropped five of their last six outings. First year head coach D.J. Durkin has lead the Terrapins to a 5–5 record with already two more wins than last year's 3–9 finish. However, all five of their losses have come from Big Ten opponents, leaving the Terps 2–5 in the conference. The Terrapins rank in the bottom half of both total offense and defense as their points for/against ratio is 9:16. Besides the close games against Michigan State and India, most of ... • 13. College Football Playoff Rankings Report The latest version of the College Football Playoff rankings has been released. We're one week closer the National Championship, and virtually nothing is any clearer than the previous weeks. The top four teams in the rankings remained unchanged – Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Michigan – and most experts agree that Alabama is a virtual lock to stay at the top. The rest of the party, especially the Big Ten representative (s), is very much up in the air. We'll skip past the Crimson Tide, as they're expected to get past Auburn in the Iron Bowl this weekend and coast through the SEC Championship game. Although, Auburn has won two Iron Bowls since 2010. Ohio State hosts Michigan on Saturday in what could be a play–in game for a spot among the top four playoff teams. In the muddled mess that is the Big Ten East Division, an Ohio State win coupled with a Penn State win over Michigan State would send the Nittany Lions to the Big Ten Championship game. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By that time, we'll know the outcome of the Washington versus Washington State game. If these scenarios play out, the new rankings would likely have Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson and Wisconsin in the top four spots going into the championship games. At that point, the college football landscape becomes a game of "wait and see", halted until the championship games play out. Of course, if Washington wins this weekend and Alabama, Clemson or Wisconsin loses, it could set up mass chaos for the championship games on Dec 3. New teams could enter the fray, as Penn State could still have a shot with a win over Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship. Then suddenly my eye is caught by the fact that one or two players are kneeling. I am confused. Why would they be kneeling during the anthem? • 25. Marcell Dareus 'Paid Athletes' Pay For Play PAY FOR PLAY The issue of pay for play has gone back for decades not just on the collegiate level but on the professional level. Athletes, over the years, have verbally attacked the unfairness of the NCAA or professional owners unfairly profiting of the sweat of the athletes backs. I believe paying athletes a modest amount would lessen the temptation to break NCAA rules by taking cash from boosters, agents and anyone else willing to give it. For example, is the case of Cam Newton's, former Auburn quarterback. Reports were released stating that former Mississippi State assistants and a booster had contacted Newton's father, Cecil Newton, about payments for his signature with the Bulldogs. Without this payment, these athletes are merely workers for their institutions who get no compensation – a bit like free labor or dare to say slavery don't you think? On the other side of this heated exchange are the pundits who say that college athletes are amateurs and are already being paid in terms of their scholarship. Mind you that a vast majority of the opposition have never played college athletics themselves so they wouldn't know what it is like to be in the shoes of an athlete who has a full scholarship, and even though that scholarship covers tuition, books, meals, housing, and other related costs, it does not cover the extra costs that make up a part of the student–athlete's life such as money to provide food for the athlete's little sibling back home who would otherwise be fed if the athlete was working instead of playing sports, and money to support a child which some athletes may have. (Sturgill). So to be clear, a scholarship is nice and all but no matter how much of a "full ride" or "all inclusive" it is, it doesn't cover everything. All in all, the fact of the matter here is that the NCAA is a widely matured money making machine with thousands of athletes being the motor powering it to newer heights. Even with this, it seems like all the components – the schools, patrons, fans, coaches, etc. – are profiting, all but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personal Narrative : My Furry Friends My Furry Friends As I'm sitting at my desk trying to think of an interesting aspect in my life that could fill more than three sentences, I hear my father scream. "THEY TOOK MY SANDWICH, MY PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SANDWICH!" At this point it 's not as much of a yell but more of a disappointed plead like he was devastated by the loss of his dinner. Then it went back to yelling. "WHICH OF YOU DID IT. I CAN 'T LIVE LIKE THIS ANYMORE HEIDI!" "Well...you did leave it on the counter," my brother said. "You can't leave food on the counter!" I tried to laugh but honestly I felt his pain. You might think, wow this guy is crazy, or he 's overreacting but believe me anyone would get frustrated with two dogs always stealing your dinner. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would have named him something cuter like Sailor or Buddy but at least our Husker was the only Husker for miles and miles until you got to the midwest. Husker has an interesting personality to say the least. He is a troublemaker who does not listen, he 's unintelligent, and very stubborn. But he also is super sweet, extremely friendly, and impossibly cute. He has done very many stupid things like this weekend we were driving home from Cape Cod and he somehow fell dead asleep standing up. I was petting him and when his head was leaning against my hand, he fell asleep. Gently placing his head on the armrest, I expected him to wake up but nope he was sound asleep, standing! I wondered how that was even possible when he had his dog bed about a foot away from him. Another time, he was in the backyard and saw the huge german shepard in his backyard behind ours. Husker wanted to play so he decided to run over into this huge, intimidating animals territory. The dog attacked him, leaving a scar on his stomach. Finally we got Husker back into our yard but he ran over again. You would think by the time you got scarred, you would learn your lesson but no, he was so excited to have someone to play with he ran over a second time. Luckily, he didn't get mauled to death, which could've easily happened. I could go on with stories of his adventures but I have a whole other dog to share about. Taffy is the second one who was also a miracle. One day I was home ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 31. Personal Narrative: A Shocking Husker Game A Shocking Husker Game It was just a normal gameday Saturday for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Me and my charismatic dad woke up at six in the morning, just like usual. The opening season game always cheered me up. All week we had been setting up the tailgate in my dad's truck. There was nothing better than a day like that day, at least, for the first part. We went to the Caseys for breakfast, which is a tradition. Well, at least for us it is tradition. Eventually we started our one hour drive down to the Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska, enjoying our warm breakfast pizza and talking about our score predictions for the game. When we got to the parking lot we tailgate in, I couldn't help but notice the scorching heat. It was hard to stabilize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Nebraska football stadium, otherwise known as the Memorial Stadium, is one of the most famous stadiums ever. There have been 360 and counting consecutive sellouts in this stadium. In fact it's a world record, beating second place by more than 100 games. As you can probably tell I get a little nerdy about this kind of stuff. With that information, on the other hand, this shows how the Nebraska Cornhuskers have the best college football fans in history. When I joyfully walked into the stadium the pregame feeling melted with the sun and I began to feel that game time feeling. This is when your mind is only set to the game in front of ... • 35. Essay on Paying College Athletes Should college athletes get paid more money? There has been a constant debate the past few years on whether college athletes, particularly football players, should get paid. In 1988, the Nebraska legislature passed a bill that would allow the University of Nebraska football players to receive better cash incentives. The bill was later vetoed by Governor Kay Orr, who was governor of Nebraska at the time (O'Toole etal. 2). . The dispute comes from coaches, parents of the players, and the players themselves arguing that universities make money off their own athletes and the athletes, in turn, do not receive any money from that. Many NCAA officials disagree stating their case that college athletes already receive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But the bill is getting exploited by NCAA rules and by the official in the Big 12. According to Big 12 Commissioner Kevin Weiberg, the bill, if passed in Nebraska, has a slim chance of passing in other states that has schools in the Big 12. He states, "At this point, I know of no other state legislative activity that relates to a bill like this" (cite). Weiberg expands on how he is not alone in this decision by saying, "Our presidents and chancellors have been uniformly opposed to any plan that would give the appearance of play–for–pay"(O'Toole etal. 2). With these statements it seems like Chambers doesn't have good position in getting the bill passed, but the bill can initiate an argument saying that if college athletes do not get paid, the temptation of illegal consumption of money by athletes could rise. In agreeing with Weiberg, Wally Renfro, who is an assistant to NCAA president Myles Brand, states, "It (the bill) shouldn't happen for two reasons. One is philosophical. It's not the model of intercollegiate athletics. Second, it's impractical. They're basically talking, I think, about paying football players. I don't think that's going to stand the test of a court challenge from students who play basketball or students who play baseball or students in the tennis ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Nutrition In College Athletes Nutrition is not a topic many people College athletes have shown a lack of knowledge about nutrition, which can cause adverse effects in college and later in life, it is athletic departments' job to educate athletes by hiring registered dietitians (RD) and implementing a nutrition curriculum for athletes. College athletes rely heavily on what their bodies look like as a way to gauge their performance and often times nutrition and the quality of their diets is neglected. Athletes have ideas about what their body composition should be for their sport, whether they need to be lean, muscular, or bulky. However, those preconceived ideas about body composition can cause athletes to consumer fewer or more calories than recommended by RD. In the scholarly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Athletes may see results faster, feel better, and have more energy; something that can improve their performance in both athletics and academics. Providing athletes with a RD can change the way athletes think about food. Junior running back Rux Burkhead, "under the supervision of the Cornhuskers' RD, can account for every calorie and carb that goes into his body... he has never felt or played better" (Olson). The RD at the UNL had a huge impact on Burkhead's diet and understanding of nutrition. Educating athletes can be a long process and it does take effort, but athletes are disciplined, want to compete to the best of their abilities. Registered dietitians can show them how to achieve those goals starting with a proper diet to support their training levels. Given a resource like a RD, athletes would understand what their bodies' need, when, and why so that they could make healthy decisions even when a dietitian is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
