Scope Compare And Contrast
Have you ever thought about the similarities and differences of a menu and a flashlight? Well, this is what this mini essay is about! A menu is a list
of dishes available at a restaurant and their prices, and a flashlight is a battery–operated portable light.
These objects have quite a few things in common. They are both beneficial for survival. For example: a flashlight can lead someone to safety if it is too
dark and a menu indicates any allergens which means they save lives! Also, they could be used to highlight something. A flashlight accentuates useful
information that is needed for the situation and a menu could emphasize a "Weekly Special". Who knows, what if you will need a flashlight to read a
menu?
However, there are many

World Vision Non For Profit Essay
Introduction The purpose of this task is to conduct primary and secondary research, to delve in to the feasibility Of increasing HRM/Finances in the
BNE/Stretton area of World Vision which is a Non–for Profit organisation. This requires information on human resources, how world vision allocates
its funds and why the organization is considered a non for profit. This information will be used to further increase the profile the NFP has in the local
Stretton/Brisbane particularly to increase revenue and volunteers throughout the communities around Brisbane. World Vision as a Not–for–Profit
World Vision is a Christian humanitarian organization. World Vision was founded in 1950 by Bernard Barron and now is run by the CEO Tim
Costello. It is considered a Non for profit due to its objective stated on its website being to serve humanity without any discrimination and it is not

Egalitarianism In The Tairo Fishmen
Helen Keller once said that "The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but no vision." This illustrates how important it is to have
a vision. Vision is something that will push us forward in achieving something we wish for. Without visions, we would have no motivation and spirit to
pull through tough times. Douglas Stewart has been influenced by the Australian culture and society and it has given him insight of the Australian
visions. In his poems, he explores the Australian visions of man's bond with nature, conservation of fauna and the spirit of egalitarianism. The way
Stewart artfully conveys these ideas has also given responders a deeper understanding of Australia's nature and its people.
First and foremost, in the poem Nesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem, Stewart studies 'these tailor takers' as they wait patiently for the fish to take the bait. He uses an antithesis, 'They stand together in a fine
democracy; Each keeping his place and nobody talking too much' to illustrate the tailor fishermen's silent respect towards one another. They give each
other their individual space as they see each other as equals sharing a common goal. The inclusive language 'together' further emphasizes the
fishermen's unity. Their determination and unwavering attitude towards their activity is shown in the simile 'like pillars of rock they stand.' The string
of nouns 'name and address; Income, religion, status or nationality' does not affect their attitude towards one another. They do not discriminate one
another for their difference as to them, they are all 'men who fish.' Stewart is astonished with their spirit of egalitarianism and says in a proud tone, 'I
am glad to have stood with such people in the cold wind.' Hence, the composer has successfully conveyed the significance of mutual respect practiced
by Australians to the

Redundant Target Effect
Our daily task requires us to pay full attention towards them, with a full sense of concious. During those daily tasks our attention is divided among our
surroundings. It gives us the ability to multitask, as we can foucus on multiple subjects at the same time. However, this ability declines as we age.
Older adults have a difficcult time processing information in the visual periphery. Mnay researches have been done to compare young adult and older
adults functional field of View (FFOV). Though the expectation for the results of the research was not met, by measuring the retinal area from which
observers can collect information necessary to make specific judgements, we can determine the differnce between young adults and old adults attention
span. The experiement applied the redundant target effect to compare it with single–target conditions. Through the experiemnets psychologists were

The analysis of RTs (reaction time) and error are measured by Age X Targetvisual field. The resutls indicated that older adults had longer RTs toward
the targets in the lower visual field (LVF) than the targets in the upper visual field (UVF). The RTs provided no evidence of interactions within the
visual fields because the targets either appered in the UVF or in LVF. The targets were not present in both fields at the same time. The Rts had shorter
redundent– target trials than the single–target trials because the processing time is determined how fast and quick the channel in each trial are. This
effect is known as statistical faciliation. The redundant target reduce error rates, and displays with clutter had higher errror rates than the no–clutter
display. Older adults showed more interaction of clutter than young children. However, there was no evidence of speed accuracy, but suprisingly the
capacity appeared to be larger for older adults in clutered conditions and for targets farther in the retinal

I Work For A Great Company
I work for a great company. Malarkey Roofing Products has been in the roofing products business for over 60 years, both manufacturing and
distributing quality roofing materials. We have a sales force of over 60 sales representatives, three manufacturing plants, and a few hundred
administrative and union workers. Our products are distributed globally and we continue to expand into new markets; which makes it imperative that
our company run like a well–oiled machine. A company this size requires a lot of teamwork between individuals, departments and management. But,
as we continue to grow, I am seeing divisions in all of these areas, which makes it difficult to operate on a day to day basis.
When I began reading The Five Dysfunctions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If that is the case, the overall goals should be readdressed and more specific. But I digress. The true issue is the lack of a common company goal or
vision and determining where that comes from.
One of the major areas I see my team struggle with is this idea of the fourth dysfunction, which is the avoidance of accountability. This can be seen
when an employee can give you departmental goals, but not necessarily the company's goals or visions. Up until recently, our company operated
under a "silo mentality". In other words, each department was operating independently of each other, with no regard to what the other departments
were doing. Nobody knew what anyone else was responsible for, or how our departments worked together, thereby eliminating the ability to hold
each other accountable. Brent Gleeson points out that this concept is not healthy for any business. "This type of mentality will reduce efficiency in
the overall operation, reduce morale, and may contribute to the demise of a productive company culture" (Gleeson & Rozo, 2013, para. 1) When we
cannot hold each other accountable, we cannot reach a common goal. We begin to operate without a vision or operate with very limited vision,
placing the overall goals of the company as more of a suggestion than a goal.
My department (a team of five people) struggled with our

Visuality In African American Essay

Rachel Nelson
April 19, 2017 Visuality, defined in a most straight forward way, is the quality or state of being visual or a mental image or picture relates to the
process of glimpsing with the eyes. Even though the term encompasses a broad array of explanation and it conveys different things to different people,
it relates with the prism with which people construe the world. It applies to both tangible and intangible and depending on one's ability to exploit the
visual senses. Visuality plays an integral role as a cultural tool in the society. In the contemporary context, it refers to the manner in which people see
and how they are seen. However, on numerous occasions, mentioning of the word elucidates the idea of construing contents via media ... Show more

This has been documented by social psychologists for years. It is often assumed that processes such as visual perception work in the same ways
however the paradigmatic understanding of the automatic stereotyping process highlights the mere presence that a person can lead one to think about
the concepts with which that person's social group has become associated. The presence or view of a Black man, for instance, can elicit thoughts that
he is violent and criminal. Simply thinking about a Black person renders these concepts more accessible and can lead people to misremember the
Black person as the one holding the razor. Merely on the sight of blacks can lead people to evaluate ambiguous behavior as aggressive, to
miscategorize harmless objects as weapons, or to shoot quickly, and, at times,

The Masque of the Red Death
I raised out of bed at the crack of dawn, when I heard the mailman's carriage ride by. I was expecting something very important. I put on my shoes
faster than a rabbit, and went to retrieve the mail. As I was looking through the mail one envelope caught my eyes. The envelope read "You're
Invited!" As I opened the envelope and read it, it was from Prince Prospero and he invited me to safety from the plague. He heard I was a psychic and
he wanted me to help with others who was invited into shelter, to predict if anything was going to happen.
The next day, I was preparing for living in the castle (the safe spot from the plague) for months or even for years. I had to pack clothes, food, work

The Struggle Of The World War II On The Film ' The Owl /...
"In the OWl/Hollywood vision, the [Second World] War produced unity" (Koppes and Black). Examine the theme of unity in the wartime cinema
of TWO of the following nations: Britain, the United States, Germany, the Soviet Union. Clayton R. Koppes asserts that "in the OWI/Hollywood
vision, the [Second World] war produced unity". While many focus on the immense rifts of the Second World War, it is clear that cinema of the
period took a different approach due to the pressure for national unity. The film industry played a pivotal role in wartime propaganda, and as a
result shaped hearts and minds for citizens both at home and for those fighting overseas. Despite the struggle of the period, wartime unity in cinema
was nevertheless forged in the fiery crucible of war. After the outbreak of World War II on September 1st 1939, the American government put aside
their differences of wealth and labour to focus a greater goal; the bringing together of people on both a national and international scale. Racial,
gender and class divisions evaporated on the battlefield as well as on the assembly line; the war had brought together people on a level no one had
expected. As Koppes states, such imagery of wartime "implicitly argues that war, however horrible, might be a tonic." This trend however, was not
solely American, the "peoples war" emphasised a united front all over the globe. Ultimately if America and its allies remained unified, they eliminate
the atmosphere of total jeopardy. This

Thomas Builds To Say Phoenix Arizona Essay
The future is unclear to see because of the multiple interpretations to one event. Seeing events and only being able to describe a possible outcome is
what the character Thomas Builds–the–Fire in Sherman Alexie's, "This Is What it means To Say Phoenix, Arizona," can do. The ability has been once
praised in cultures around the world but is now looked down upon. Thomas has lost a lifestyle that he was never able to have because he follows his
ability including his friendships he has created. For this reason, Thomas Builds–the–Fire is now an outcast to the town's society; however, he looks
after his old friend Victor because of his loyalty to Victor's father, believes in his visions can help his community, and the chance of obtaining new
visions.
The loyalty Thomas portrays to looking after Victor is towards a promise made to Victor's father. Two years after making the promise, at the age
fifteen, "... Victor and Thomas got into a fistfight, " after Victor got drunk which, "The beating might of have gone on until Thomas was dead..."

Epic Of American Civilization : Anglo American
Great time, detail, and attention went into making this great masterpiece; a piece by Jose Clemente Orozco entitled Epic of American Civilization:
Anglo–American (panel 15) consists of a series of 24 frescos panels, whose principle themes are the impact of both indigenous Native Americans and
the European colonists on North America, and the impact of war. Also, this painting is located in the basement reading room library in Dartmouth
College in Hanover, New Hampshire (completed in 1934). Looking at these panels in this library, you can see that the west wing contains ten panels
on the first theme, which is Native Americans and the creation of human life. Comparatively, next you then see the east wing of the room would depict
a panel that we are looking at now which depicts modern industrial themes in a manner similar to a totem pole. This fresco can be seen on the east
wing of the room, depicting modern industrialization of Anglo–Americans. Looking at this painting, we can pull definitions and explanations from
line, shape and form, value, space, color, and time and motion to analyze the whole painting and conclude the painting as a unified whole. Line can
be depicted several times in this painting. Line is defined as a continuous mark made by a tool as it is drawn across a surface. First, we can see that
the heavy brush strokes can depict line. Also we can see it in the square of grain in the front left corner, and also the giant square in the background

What Is The Mood Of Frank Romero Painting 'Going To The...
In Frank Romero painting "Going to the Olympics, 1984." Im going to be telling you guys what kind of mood his painting was and how it
"transformed" over time. In my opinion on Frank Romero's painting means that we love our cars and our cars mean a lot to us. I say this because
our cars get us to places we like to go. In his painting he drew some cars and painted a heart on top of each car. In the other image it basically shows
his painting didn't mean anything to other people because years later they tagged on his painting. Also in the other image they covered his painting
with another layer of cement. In this paragraph I'm going to be talking about how Frank Romero might feel about our city's car culture and also
about the mood of the painting. Frank might love his car a lot because that's what his painting symbolizes and his painting means a lot to him but
not only to him , maybe it also means a lot to other people. The mood in this pictures feels like he was very happy because of the hearts and of the
colors. The bright colors shows a lot because most likely bright colors symbolizes happiness. Also it seemed like he loved his painting and i say this
because when he saw that they covered his painting he got upset.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Timber Beloved The Sky
I chose Carr's painting 'Sconed as Timber, Beloved of the Sky' for the main reason that as soon as I opened up the image my eyes instantly
widened from the tree standing in the middle casted upon by light. The perspective of this painting is from a low angle and I believe that was this
was done in order for us to admire the entire tree as it's almost alienated from the rest of them. In chapters two and three of the textbook, Berger says
that perspective is the basis of images and makes them seem more realistic and even draws us into them as if we are part of the images themselves.
The image itself is composed of oils in order to give the painting a smooth look overall. The oils also promote the blending and making of various
colors therefore

Johannes Vermeer And Albert Bierstadt
Two painters in history are known for their abilities to depict scenes in such realistic manners that you would never know they are actually producing
paintings. These painters are named Johannes Vermeer and Albert Bierstadt. Both men came from different times and ethnic backgrounds. Dutchman,
Johannes Vermeer was born in the year 1632 and passed away in 1675. Over his lifetime Vermeer used a style ofpainting that causing modern day
historians and art lovers to struggle to figure out how he painted such realistic scenes that mimicked photographs. His style combined many pictorial
depth cues while maintaining a strong sense of realism throughout the relatively few paintings he produced. Next is Prussian artist Albert Bierstadt, who
was born in the year 1830 and passed away in 1903. Bierstadt is widely known for his highly realistic paintings of the American West landscape.
Combining pictorial depth cues and visual realism were his specialties, while raising a large degree of 'illusionism' in his paintings. In his lifetime
Bierstadt produced over 500 paintings, most of which pertained to the places he visited on his journey across the United States. While Bierstadt and
Vermeer were two very different men, their works shared common elements. Vermeer's The Music Lesson and The Concert and Bierstadt's Yosemite
Valley share many of the same pictorial depth cues, realism, and even a sense of illusionism. In order to analyze how these works of art are alike,

Vision Of An Ideal World

What is an ideal world
An ideal world is a widely discussed topic among religions and other people in general. Some believe that there really is an ideal world waiting for us.
And others just think that those kinds of thoughts about an ideal world are just out right crazy. The whole point of an ideal world is to achieve peace
and perfection on earth or after death. This world is a good happy place for everyone to live. Just showing it would be a wonderful place to live in,
which is why many religions and people believe in it. Perfection is very hard to achieve this is why some people are sceptical about an ideal world
actually existing. Now whatever side you are on I am going to discuss what an ideal world really is and the beliefs about it. By clearing this up I hope
to help others decided whether there really is an ideal world or if it's just a myth.
When describing an ideal world everyone has their own thoughts on what is going on and what it looks like. Your ideal world depends on your
thoughts and what you believe is perfect or right. According to the website CareerRide.com in the article "What is your vision of an ideal world?" an
ideal world is a mix of multiple things that come together as one to work in harmony. They said "these things are equality, rebuild, education, noreligion

Amblyopia Essay examples
Amblyopia
This paper provides a brief description of amblyopia and discusses current research regarding the motion pathway in individuals with amblyopia.
Amblyopia is a condition in which visual acuity in one eye is greatly reduced. It is caused by lack of stimulation or disuse during visual development
(Rose, 1998). Because the eye is not fully developed at birth (Jarvis, 1992, as cited in Rose, 1998), infants need stimulation to complete the visual neural
pathway. When one or both eyes are inhibited, for example due to misalignment of one eye (strabismus) or a large difference in refractive power
between two eyes (anisometropia), the neural pathway for the inhibited eye develops abnormally, or does not develop at all. At... Show more content on

This information is important because it could provide meaningful insight into the nature of the underlying problems involved (Hess & Anderson, 1993).
There is a general consensus that amblyopes have reduced contrast sensitivity, grating acuity, and spatial resolution in one eye and a loss of
binocular vision (Levi, 1991; Sireteanu et al., 1977, as cited in Fahle & Bachmann, 1996). Amblyopes also suffer from "crowding" (Levi & Klein,
1985, as cited in Fahle & Bachmann, 1996) which causes difficulty, for example, in comprehending a letter found in text rather than an isolated letter.
The mechanisms delegating positional information are also disabled in amblyopes (Rentschler & Hilz, 1985, as cited in Fahle & Bachmann, 1996).
Even though amblyopia results in a profusion of visual obstacles, there is one area for which amblyopia may actually provide beneficial. Arguments
have been made that while fine spatial detail has been affected in amblyopes, the motion pathway has not been affected (Chung & Levi, 1997;
Kubova, Kuba, Juran, & Blakemore, 1996), and may even be more acute (Fahle & Bachmann, 1996). It has been proposed that in amblyopes the
parvocellular pathway is impaired resulting in loss of fine spatial detail (Kubova, et al., 1996). On the other hand, parasol cells that lie in the

Cinematography In Arrival
Arrival, released in 2016 and directed by Charlie Villanueva, opens with a montage of a child's life and early death. This montage appears to be a
flashback that our protagonist experiences before the events of the film. However, this introductory scene actually encourages the formation of a false
hypothesis, since the montage features events from the future, not the past. The primacy effect strongly encourages the acceptance of this hypothesis,
at least until the narration presents an overwhelming amount of information to overturn it. Over the course of the film, the narration does in fact present
overwhelming information. However, it does so gradually by establishing a pattern of redundant visions the protagonist, Louise, experiences. More ...

The syuzhet reveals definitively that the opening sequence was a vision of the future rather than a flashback. The first time the narration offers a little
depth of knowledge of Louise is when she asks Costello "Who is this child?". That is the exact moment the plot reveals with absolute certainty that
the visions are not flashbacks. This is the first time Louise comments on her visions, unleashing the slightest bit of depth of knowledge on her
character. Costello immediately responds: "Louise sees future." Now the gaps begin to fill themselves quickly. Louise tries to explain to Weber that
the weapon the heptapods are trying to give humanity is their language, which causes whoever learns it to begin to perceive time nonlinearly. Louise
also begins to control these visions so she can receive vital information from the future to save the day in the present. After the narration makes it
obvious that these visions are of the future, Louise stands in a field outside of the military base with Ian, when a montage similar to the one at the

para un niГ±o estar viГ©ndola por mГЎs de 5 horas al dГa?, Вїy si es asГ, los convertirГЎ en mejores jГіvenes o adultos?
AdemГЎs, ver
demasiado la televisiГіn puede afectar la vista del niГ±o. SegГєn la Academia Americana de PsiquiatrГa Infantil y Adolescente, un niГ±o ve la

Robert Pierce, Commonly Referred To As Bob, Was Born In
Robert Pierce, commonly referred to as Bob, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa in 1914. In his youth, his family moved to Southern California, where he
would stay through college. Pierce went to Pasadena Nazarene College to prepare for ministry. In the mid–1930s, Pierce worked as a traveling
evangelist in California. Later, he settled in Los Angeles and got connected with the Youth for Christ movement. He became a full
–time traveling
evangelist for Youth for Christ in 1947. This position allowed him the opportunity to go to Asia to evangelize to them American military serving there.

In 1970, Pierce founded another ministry, Samaritan's Purse. The purpose of Samaritan's Purse is "to meet emergency needs in crisis areas through
existing evangelical mission agencies and national churches." In 1973, Pierce met Franklin Graham. At this time, Graham was a young student
with a heart for missions. Graham reached out to Pierce and began to desire to hear all of his mission stories. Pierce shared his experience with
Graham and became like a mentor to him. Graham was inspired, and in 1975, Pierce and Graham went on a tour to see the world's neediest places
("About Us"). It was on this trip that Graham's heart was exposed and called to meeting the needs of the people in these locations. This conviction
was similar to the one that Pierce experienced on his trip to Asia and for this reason he would eventually go into the same type of work that he was
doing with Pierce.
Robert Pierce died in 1978 of leukemia. Only a year after his death, Franklin Graham took over and became the President and Chairman of the Board
of Samaritan's Purse. Both World Visionand Samaritan's Purse are still active ministries today. The story of Robert Pierce shows that one person's
conviction can manifest itself in powerful ways. Robert Pierce was not only a great evangelist, but he was a profound leader who understood the
importance of connecting and building relationships with those around him. Pierce shows an excellent example of networking with organizations and

My Personal Vision Self-Assessment
On the My Personal Vision Self–Assessment, I answered eight of the ten questions as "mostly true," which was above the cutoff score of more than
seven "mostly true" answers that indicate that I am currently in "great shape" when it comes to the development of my personal vision. As the textbook
mentions, coming up with an individual vision or mission is often a difficult challenge, although the work that goes into the actual achievement of
one's vision may be even harder. However, I'm already ahead of most people on this assignment since I have been continually working on my personal

A Bar At The Folies-BergпїЅre And Les Demoiselles Analysis
In representing female subjects, both Pablo Picasso's oil painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and Г‰douard Manet's A Bar at the
Folies–BergГЁre (1882) manipulate the formal techniques of composition and perspective to create new ways of seeing their subject, emulating their
contemporary society's shifting views of women and the individual. Les Demoiselles depicts five naked prostitutes, flaunting their bodies, and some
wearing tribal masks. In comparison, A Bar at the Folies–BergГЁre represents a female, who may also be a prostitute, tending a bar. The depiction of
previously 'hidden' female subjects alone was an innovation of the perception of the artist, however, the formal treatment in representing these subjects
was an important break from tradition. Despite evident differences in the compositional elements of Picasso's Les Demoiselles and Manet's A Bar at
the Folies–BergГЁre, both utilise a composition with a shallow plane to distort visual perception in their work. This distortion promotes the spectator to
revaluate the way they perceive these female prostitute subjects. Picasso's treatment of paint and use blocked colours in Les Demoiselles creates the
sensation of a flat, two–dimensional image, signifying a radical break from traditional modes of representation. The lack of depth in the painting
pushes the figures of female prostitutes on top of each other, layering the stark angles and sharp forms that make up their bodies. In addition, this
layering on such a large scale (243.9 cm Г— 233 cm) creates a feeling that the figures are pushing beyond the boundaries of the work and imposing
themselves onto the spectator. Furthermore, the stances of the prostitutes, who are dramatically flaunting their bodies with arms raised and torsos
presented openly, fills the frame, refusing the spectator to accesses to other areas of the image. Instead the female figures dominate the attention of the
viewer, in some ways empowering these figures who previously lacked representation. These formal elements of composition all come together in Les
Demoiselles to challenge the spectator's ways of viewing the females in the work. Similarly, in The Bar at the Folies–BergГЁre Manet also uses
compositional elements to shape

Safe Riding Research Paper
Safe riding is more demanding than driving a car. Motorists have a hard time seeing motorcycles because of their smaller size and profile. Defensive
riding requires that you assume other vehicles don't see you. In addition, you must quickly spot and deal with road debris and pavement defects that
may cause a fall. This demands good riding skills and quick reaction speed. But riding skill and reaction time aren't enough without a good situational
awareness, and this isn't possible without sharp vision.
As a prescription glasses wearer, you understand that riding without some means of correcting your vision is out of the question. In addition, you may
know that your street prescription glasses lack sufficient impact resistance for protecting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, you should never overlook the frames. High impact resistant lenses won't help if they pop out of the frames when struck by a pebble while
riding 65 mph on the interstate. Durability is important as well. You don't want a brittle material or one that readily bends such as some of the metals
used for street glasses.
The material must retain its shape yet have some flexibility so that it can hold up to the stresses of travel. If you happen to place the glasses in a
pocket, that shouldn't cause frame damage or a lens to pop out. Nylon is well suited for prescription motorcycle glasses. It's strong, tough, flexible,
and has a good tolerance for heat and cold. Nylon frames also come in a wide variety of colors and designs.
Proper Fit
Another reason street prescription glasses are a bad choice for motorcycling is their fit. Motorcycle glasses shouldn't slide down your nose, cause pain
when worn with a helmet, fall off, or allow sunlight in between your eyebrow and the top of the glasses. The nose piece should feel comfortable, not
leave pinch marks, and hold the glasses in place. An adjustable nose piece may be

Vision.
Information About the World Vision– World Vision is a global organisation and is dedicated to working with children, families and communities to
overcome poverty and injustice. We will be focusing onhealth care.
Brief History of World Vision– World Vision started with a man trying to help children in a country with just $5. World Vision was created by Bob
Pierce, he created a child sponsorship program which began in 1953, caring directly for children in orphanages. In the 1960's the work expanded
rapidly in more countries globally. In the 2000's the Hope Initiative is launched to care for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have been training him through programs and have also provided clean drainage. This links to the goal 6 (Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other

World Vision partnered with a Mongolian community and the toilet facilities in schools were so poor that children often had no choice but to relieve
themselves behind school buildings. In Mongolia, winter temperatures can plunge as low as –35В°C, yet the school toilets were no more than outdoor
pit latrines. There was no clean water for the kids to drink or wash their hands with. As a result of these unsanitary conditions, infectious disease spread
amongst the children, causing them to become diarrheal. When you're diarrheal, you can't absorb and use the nutrients from your food as effectively,
resulting in malnutrition. Fortunately, the community was able to build indoor toilet facilities and supply clean water. Now, the children in that
community get to avoid the cold weather, use safe toilets and practice good hygiene. This links to goal 6 (Combat HIV/AIDS, Malaria and other
diseases).

Change Blindness Essay
Change Blindness
After investigating spatial cognition and the construction of cognitive maps in my previous paper, "Where Am I Going? Where Have I Been: Spatial
Cognition and Navigation", and growing in my comprehension of the more complex elements of the nervous system, the development of an informed
discussion of human perception has become possible. The formation of cognitive maps, which serve as internal representations of the world, are
dependent upon the human capacities for vision and visual perception (1). The objects introduced into the field of vision are translated into electrical
messages, which activate the neurons of the retina. The resultant retinal message is organized into several forms of sensation and is ... Show more

The concept of change blindness has been addressed over the course of nearly half a century, with increasing focus on the subject throughout the past
five years (3). Although biologists, psychologists, and philosophers have yet to resolve definitively the paradox of looking without seeing, the
investigation of each theory on the matter yields deeper insight into visual perception and sight as well as a decreasingly incorrect understanding of
those components of the nervous system, which are crucial for visual cognition. Under normal viewing conditions, changes produce transient signals
that can draw attention. Change blindness studies are designed to eliminate or block these transient signals by inserting a visual disruption when the
change occurs (3). Flicker Paradigm studies examine the occurrence of change blindness and attempt to explain the inability to not see that which is
directly in front of our eyes. The Flicker Paradigm demonstrates the essentiality of attention in the process of seeing (4). The alternation of an object
and a modified version of that same object is interrupted by millisecond flashes of blank space. Subjects are then asked to report changes in the images.
In order understand the events leading to the failure to recognize change, comprehension of the mechanism by which change is successfully recognized
is requisite. According to the traditional understanding of this process, an individual must form an internal

Abstract
An experiment was conducted to test the effect of lateralization and congruency on reaction time to name colors. This was done using a computer
program provided by The University of Mississippi. This effect is called the stroop effect. Results showed that it was neither lateralization nor
congruency had a significant effect on reaction time, but the interaction of these two variables that created a significant change in the time needed to
recognize colors. It is believed that this is due to the different hemispheric functions of the brain. Studies that are similar to this in nature help to better
understand how the brain functions and it capabilities.

The time to name congruent stimuli should be faster then the time to name incongruent stimuli. The time to name ink color will vary with both visual
field position and type of stimuli. Time to name ink colors for congruent stimuli should not vary much with visual field but the time to name ink color
of incongruent should increase as the stimuli gets color to the right visual field.
Methods
Participants
This study contained a total of fifteen students from the University of Tampa's upper level psychology class. Thirteen of the participants were female
and the remaining two were male. In addition to this class thirty six students from other classes were also used in this study.
Materials
I–Mac G3 computers and a program from Old Mississippi University were used to test the lateralized Stroop effect from http://psychexp.olemiss.edu.
The name of the actual program was the Lateralized Stroop Experiment. The stimuli used by this program were colors that appeared laterally on a

EL COLOR
"La visiГіn del color es una percepciГіn. Sin la mente no existirГa el color" Isaac Newton. El color es una propiedad de los cuerpos que depende de la

What Is Huxley's Vision In Brave New World
As defined by the Merriam–Webster dictionary, a society includes "people in general thought of as living together in organized communities with
shared laws, traditions, and values." In Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman's assertion supports Aldous Huxley's vision about the future state of
society over that of George Orwell's. According to Orwell's 1984, 1984 was to be the year that "Big Brother" would lead a dictatorial government,
however this never occurred. As Postman states throughout his essay, the present society is far more reflective of Huxley's view of the future depicted
in his novel Brave New World. Evidence supportive of Huxley's vision is seen through an abundance of information available to most societies, a
constant pursuit of pleasure and entertainment by societies, and a society's media determining the way in which it defines truth. According to such
evidence of the "contemporary society," Postman's assertion that Huxley's vision is more relevant today than is Orwell's is true. ... Show more content

Can You Spare Some Change?
Can You Spare Some Change?
Ian S. Davis
Webster University
Abstract
Influencing the change of one person is extremely difficult. Multiply that change amongst an organization with fifty or five thousand people becomes
an almost superhuman undertaking. Nevertheless, many businesses and organizations alike are attempting this incredible feat. The majority that does
so effectively concentrate on presenting the change that needs to occur in a completely unique way. When this occurs, the people react emotionally to
the message, and that thrusts the change into action. "They see, then feel, then change" as authors Kotter and Cohen so eloquently lay out in their
book, The Heart of Change.
In this paper, I will attempt to swerve my way through Kotter and Cohen's eight step process and compare as well as contrast their steps against another
textbook entitled Organizational Behavior and Management. While there may not be a perfect solution to instill the much needed change one sees in
their organization, utilizing these lessons can certainly generate the much needed, fresh ideas that could influence the overarching goals and objectives
leadership desires.

If an effort to make changes in an organization is to come into fruition, the first step is to create a sense of urgency. To change with urgency, it is vital
employees seek prospective issues that will energize associates, with a sense of "Let's go, now!" Without earnestness, large–scale

The First Phase Model For Strategic Planning Essay
The first phase of Patrick Sanaghan 's (2009) five phase model for strategic planning is getting organized. The first part of this phase consists of the
president putting together a planning task force – PTF. Sanaghan (2009) argues that the PTF should be co–chaired by one high–level faculty member,
and one senior administrator. The rest of the task force – 20–30 members – should be comprised of a diverse mixture of faculty and staff, who
represent a wide variety of groups on campus (Sanaghan, 2009). Once established, Sanaghan (2009) argues that the PTF should formulate a year–long
schedule of planning events and also develop a transparent, easily accessible, communication system. Next, the PTF must partake in an engaging
training session where they will learn about the strategic planning process and collaborative meeting strategies.(Sanaghan, 2009). The second phase
consists of gathering data and engaging all stakeholders in the process. Sanaghan (2009) explains that the intended outcome of this phase is to connect
stakeholders in an engaging, interactive environment, that fosters the development of ideas. He believes that data gathering should primarily be
collected through face–to–face interaction, with secondary use of surveys (Sanaghan, 2009). One way interaction can be facilitated is through planning
updates, which Sanaghan (2009) describes as an interactive discussion process among campus stakeholders. At these updates, the present status of
planning should be

Essay On Vertical Diplopia
vi. Binocular Single Vision and Diplopia Binocular single vision is achieved when an object from same position in space stimulates corresponding
points on the retina. This simultaneous stimulation of corresponding retinal points results in the perception of viewing a single object with the two
eyes. In someone with normal retinal correspondence, diplopia occurs when an object being viewed stimulates non–corresponding parts of the retina.
This results in the perception of two, disparate objects located in different positions in space that are unable to be fused as one object (Greer, 2014).
Ms. Bechler reports she has been experiencing intermittent vertical diplopia for the past 3 months. Her recent onset of transient diplopia indicates the

The thyroid is responsible for maintaining the body's homeostatic functions including metabolic rate, growth, and nervous system development. Normal
thyroid function is regulated through the feedback control of the hypothalamus–anterior pituitary gland–thyroid axis. The hypothalamus, which
maintains homeostasis, produces thyroid releasing hormone (TRH). TRH stimulates the anterior pituitary to produce thyroid stimulating hormone
(TSH aka thyrotropin). TSH acts on the thyroid gland, causing it to produce the hormones, triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Both T3 and T3
act in a negative feedback loop, with T3 inhibiting the hypothalamus, and T4 inhibiting the anterior pituitary gland (Ota, 2016) . Thyroid follicular
endothelial cells contain thyrotropin receptors. Antibodies against thyrotropin receptors develop, stimulating receptors on these follicular endothelial
cells, stimulating excess production of thyroid hormone (Bahn, 2010). [See Figures 1 and

granted on a daily basis. You bring up some very good concepts that should be important to the organization. I think another very good concept for
World Visionshould be accountability. Accountability, as it is described in our textbook states "To be accountable essentially means being required to
answer, to take responsibility, for one's actions." (Worth, 2014, p.127). This applies to world vision in a sense that they need to hold accountability

Scope Compare And Contrast

  • 1. Scope Compare And Contrast Have you ever thought about the similarities and differences of a menu and a flashlight? Well, this is what this mini essay is about! A menu is a list of dishes available at a restaurant and their prices, and a flashlight is a battery–operated portable light. These objects have quite a few things in common. They are both beneficial for survival. For example: a flashlight can lead someone to safety if it is too dark and a menu indicates any allergens which means they save lives! Also, they could be used to highlight something. A flashlight accentuates useful information that is needed for the situation and a menu could emphasize a "Weekly Special". Who knows, what if you will need a flashlight to read a menu? However, there are many ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Egalitarianism In The Tairo Fishmen Helen Keller once said that "The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but no vision." This illustrates how important it is to have a vision. Vision is something that will push us forward in achieving something we wish for. Without visions, we would have no motivation and spirit to pull through tough times. Douglas Stewart has been influenced by the Australian culture and society and it has given him insight of the Australian visions. In his poems, he explores the Australian visions of man's bond with nature, conservation of fauna and the spirit of egalitarianism. The way Stewart artfully conveys these ideas has also given responders a deeper understanding of Australia's nature and its people. First and foremost, in the poem Nesting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the poem, Stewart studies 'these tailor takers' as they wait patiently for the fish to take the bait. He uses an antithesis, 'They stand together in a fine democracy; Each keeping his place and nobody talking too much' to illustrate the tailor fishermen's silent respect towards one another. They give each other their individual space as they see each other as equals sharing a common goal. The inclusive language 'together' further emphasizes the fishermen's unity. Their determination and unwavering attitude towards their activity is shown in the simile 'like pillars of rock they stand.' The string of nouns 'name and address; Income, religion, status or nationality' does not affect their attitude towards one another. They do not discriminate one another for their difference as to them, they are all 'men who fish.' Stewart is astonished with their spirit of egalitarianism and says in a proud tone, 'I am glad to have stood with such people in the cold wind.' Hence, the composer has successfully conveyed the significance of mutual respect practiced by Australians to the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Redundant Target Effect Our daily task requires us to pay full attention towards them, with a full sense of concious. During those daily tasks our attention is divided among our surroundings. It gives us the ability to multitask, as we can foucus on multiple subjects at the same time. However, this ability declines as we age. Older adults have a difficcult time processing information in the visual periphery. Mnay researches have been done to compare young adult and older adults functional field of View (FFOV). Though the expectation for the results of the research was not met, by measuring the retinal area from which observers can collect information necessary to make specific judgements, we can determine the differnce between young adults and old adults attention span. The experiement applied the redundant target effect to compare it with single–target conditions. Through the experiemnets psychologists were only able to discover that genral cognition in older adults was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The analysis of RTs (reaction time) and error are measured by Age X Targetvisual field. The resutls indicated that older adults had longer RTs toward the targets in the lower visual field (LVF) than the targets in the upper visual field (UVF). The RTs provided no evidence of interactions within the visual fields because the targets either appered in the UVF or in LVF. The targets were not present in both fields at the same time. The Rts had shorter redundent– target trials than the single–target trials because the processing time is determined how fast and quick the channel in each trial are. This effect is known as statistical faciliation. The redundant target reduce error rates, and displays with clutter had higher errror rates than the no–clutter display. Older adults showed more interaction of clutter than young children. However, there was no evidence of speed accuracy, but suprisingly the capacity appeared to be larger for older adults in clutered conditions and for targets farther in the retinal ... • 5. I Work For A Great Company I work for a great company. Malarkey Roofing Products has been in the roofing products business for over 60 years, both manufacturing and distributing quality roofing materials. We have a sales force of over 60 sales representatives, three manufacturing plants, and a few hundred administrative and union workers. Our products are distributed globally and we continue to expand into new markets; which makes it imperative that our company run like a well–oiled machine. A company this size requires a lot of teamwork between individuals, departments and management. But, as we continue to grow, I am seeing divisions in all of these areas, which makes it difficult to operate on a day to day basis. When I began reading The Five Dysfunctions of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If that is the case, the overall goals should be readdressed and more specific. But I digress. The true issue is the lack of a common company goal or vision and determining where that comes from. One of the major areas I see my team struggle with is this idea of the fourth dysfunction, which is the avoidance of accountability. This can be seen when an employee can give you departmental goals, but not necessarily the company's goals or visions. Up until recently, our company operated under a "silo mentality". In other words, each department was operating independently of each other, with no regard to what the other departments were doing. Nobody knew what anyone else was responsible for, or how our departments worked together, thereby eliminating the ability to hold each other accountable. Brent Gleeson points out that this concept is not healthy for any business. "This type of mentality will reduce efficiency in the overall operation, reduce morale, and may contribute to the demise of a productive company culture" (Gleeson & Rozo, 2013, para. 1) When we cannot hold each other accountable, we cannot reach a common goal. We begin to operate without a vision or operate with very limited vision, placing the overall goals of the company as more of a suggestion than a goal. • 6. Visuality In African American Essay Junxia Hu Havc 80 Rachel Nelson April 19, 2017 Visuality, defined in a most straight forward way, is the quality or state of being visual or a mental image or picture relates to the process of glimpsing with the eyes. Even though the term encompasses a broad array of explanation and it conveys different things to different people, it relates with the prism with which people construe the world. It applies to both tangible and intangible and depending on one's ability to exploit the visual senses. Visuality plays an integral role as a cultural tool in the society. In the contemporary context, it refers to the manner in which people see and how they are seen. However, on numerous occasions, mentioning of the word elucidates the idea of construing contents via media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The presence or view of a Black man, for instance, can elicit thoughts that he is violent and criminal. Simply thinking about a Black person renders these concepts more accessible and can lead people to misremember the Black person as the one holding the razor. I was expecting something very important. I put on my shoes faster than a rabbit, and went to retrieve the mail. As I was looking through the mail one envelope caught my eyes. The envelope read "You're Invited!" As I opened the envelope and read it, it was from Prince Prospero and he invited me to safety from the plague. He heard I was a psychic and he wanted me to help with others who was invited into shelter, to predict if anything was going to happen. • 8. The Struggle Of The World War II On The Film ' The Owl /... "In the OWl/Hollywood vision, the [Second World] War produced unity" (Koppes and Black). Examine the theme of unity in the wartime cinema of TWO of the following nations: Britain, the United States, Germany, the Soviet Union. Clayton R. Koppes asserts that "in the OWI/Hollywood vision, the [Second World] war produced unity". While many focus on the immense rifts of the Second World War, it is clear that cinema of the period took a different approach due to the pressure for national unity. The film industry played a pivotal role in wartime propaganda, and as a result shaped hearts and minds for citizens both at home and for those fighting overseas. Despite the struggle of the period, wartime unity in cinema was nevertheless forged in the fiery crucible of war. After the outbreak of World War II on September 1st 1939, the American government put aside their differences of wealth and labour to focus a greater goal; the bringing together of people on both a national and international scale. Racial, gender and class divisions evaporated on the battlefield as well as on the assembly line; the war had brought together people on a level no one had expected. As Koppes states, such imagery of wartime "implicitly argues that war, however horrible, might be a tonic." This trend however, was not solely American, the "peoples war" emphasised a united front all over the globe. Ultimately if America and its allies remained unified, they eliminate the atmosphere of total jeopardy. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Seeing events and only being able to describe a possible outcome is what the character Thomas Builds–the–Fire in Sherman Alexie's, "This Is What it means To Say Phoenix, Arizona," can do. The ability has been once praised in cultures around the world but is now looked down upon. Thomas has lost a lifestyle that he was never able to have because he follows his ability including his friendships he has created. • 12. Epic Of American Civilization : Anglo American Great time, detail, and attention went into making this great masterpiece; a piece by Jose Clemente Orozco entitled Epic of American Civilization: Anglo–American (panel 15) consists of a series of 24 frescos panels, whose principle themes are the impact of both indigenous Native Americans and the European colonists on North America, and the impact of war. Also, this painting is located in the basement reading room library in Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire (completed in 1934). Looking at these panels in this library, you can see that the west wing contains ten panels on the first theme, which is Native Americans and the creation of human life. Comparatively, next you then see the east wing of the room would depict a panel that we are looking at now which depicts modern industrial themes in a manner similar to a totem pole. This fresco can be seen on the east wing of the room, depicting modern industrialization of Anglo–Americans. Looking at this painting, we can pull definitions and explanations from line, shape and form, value, space, color, and time and motion to analyze the whole painting and conclude the painting as a unified whole. Line can be depicted several times in this painting. Line is defined as a continuous mark made by a tool as it is drawn across a surface. First, we can see that the heavy brush strokes can depict line. Also we can see it in the square of grain in the front left corner, and also the giant square in the background (The Square ... • 13. What Is The Mood Of Frank Romero Painting 'Going To The... In Frank Romero painting "Going to the Olympics, 1984." Im going to be telling you guys what kind of mood his painting was and how it "transformed" over time. In my opinion on Frank Romero's painting means that we love our cars and our cars mean a lot to us. I say this because our cars get us to places we like to go. In his painting he drew some cars and painted a heart on top of each car. In the other image it basically shows his painting didn't mean anything to other people because years later they tagged on his painting. Also in the other image they covered his painting with another layer of cement. In this paragraph I'm going to be talking about how Frank Romero might feel about our city's car culture and also about the mood of the painting. Frank might love his car a lot because that's what his painting symbolizes and his painting means a lot to him but not only to him , maybe it also means a lot to other people. The mood in this pictures feels like he was very happy because of the hearts and of the colors. The bright colors shows a lot because most likely bright colors symbolizes happiness. Also it seemed like he loved his painting and i say this because when he saw that they covered his painting he got upset.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Timber Beloved The Sky I chose Carr's painting 'Sconed as Timber, Beloved of the Sky' for the main reason that as soon as I opened up the image my eyes instantly widened from the tree standing in the middle casted upon by light. The perspective of this painting is from a low angle and I believe that was this was done in order for us to admire the entire tree as it's almost alienated from the rest of them. In chapters two and three of the textbook, Berger says that perspective is the basis of images and makes them seem more realistic and even draws us into them as if we are part of the images themselves. The image itself is composed of oils in order to give the painting a smooth look overall. The oils also promote the blending and making of various colors therefore ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Johannes Vermeer And Albert Bierstadt Two painters in history are known for their abilities to depict scenes in such realistic manners that you would never know they are actually producing paintings. These painters are named Johannes Vermeer and Albert Bierstadt. Both men came from different times and ethnic backgrounds. Dutchman, Johannes Vermeer was born in the year 1632 and passed away in 1675. Over his lifetime Vermeer used a style ofpainting that causing modern day historians and art lovers to struggle to figure out how he painted such realistic scenes that mimicked photographs. His style combined many pictorial depth cues while maintaining a strong sense of realism throughout the relatively few paintings he produced. Next is Prussian artist Albert Bierstadt, who was born in the year 1830 and passed away in 1903. Bierstadt is widely known for his highly realistic paintings of the American West landscape. Combining pictorial depth cues and visual realism were his specialties, while raising a large degree of 'illusionism' in his paintings. In his lifetime Bierstadt produced over 500 paintings, most of which pertained to the places he visited on his journey across the United States. While Bierstadt and Vermeer were two very different men, their works shared common elements. Vermeer's The Music Lesson and The Concert and Bierstadt's Yosemite Valley share many of the same pictorial depth cues, realism, and even a sense of illusionism. • 19. Vision Of An Ideal World Mackenzie Phillips Intro to philosophy T&T 9:30 class 10–09–17 What is an ideal world An ideal world is a widely discussed topic among religions and other people in general. Some believe that there really is an ideal world waiting for us. And others just think that those kinds of thoughts about an ideal world are just out right crazy. The whole point of an ideal world is to achieve peace and perfection on earth or after death. This world is a good happy place for everyone to live. Just showing it would be a wonderful place to live in, which is why many religions and people believe in it. Perfection is very hard to achieve this is why some people are sceptical about an ideal world actually existing. Now whatever side you are on I am going to discuss what an ideal world really is and the beliefs about it. By clearing this up I hope to help others decided whether there really is an ideal world or if it's just a myth. When describing an ideal world everyone has their own thoughts on what is going on and what it looks like. Your ideal world depends on your thoughts and what you believe is perfect or right. According to the website CareerRide.com in the article "What is your vision of an ideal world?" an ideal world is a mix of multiple things that come together as one to work in harmony. • 21. Amblyopia Essay examples Amblyopia This paper provides a brief description of amblyopia and discusses current research regarding the motion pathway in individuals with amblyopia. Amblyopia is a condition in which visual acuity in one eye is greatly reduced. It is caused by lack of stimulation or disuse during visual development (Rose, 1998). Because the eye is not fully developed at birth (Jarvis, 1992, as cited in Rose, 1998), infants need stimulation to complete the visual neural pathway. When one or both eyes are inhibited, for example due to misalignment of one eye (strabismus) or a large difference in refractive power between two eyes (anisometropia), the neural pathway for the inhibited eye develops abnormally, or does not develop at all. At... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This information is important because it could provide meaningful insight into the nature of the underlying problems involved (Hess & Anderson, 1993). There is a general consensus that amblyopes have reduced contrast sensitivity, grating acuity, and spatial resolution in one eye and a loss of binocular vision (Levi, 1991; Sireteanu et al., 1977, as cited in Fahle & Bachmann, 1996). Amblyopes also suffer from "crowding" (Levi & Klein, 1985, as cited in Fahle & Bachmann, 1996) which causes difficulty, for example, in comprehending a letter found in text rather than an isolated letter. Arguments have been made that while fine spatial detail has been affected in amblyopes, the motion pathway has not been affected (Chung & Levi, 1997; Kubova, Kuba, Juran, & Blakemore, 1996), and may even be more acute (Fahle & Bachmann, 1996). It has been proposed that in amblyopes the parvocellular pathway is impaired resulting in loss of fine spatial detail (Kubova, et al., 1996). This montage appears to be a flashback that our protagonist experiences before the events of the film. However, this introductory scene actually encourages the formation of a false hypothesis, since the montage features events from the future, not the past. The primacy effect strongly encourages the acceptance of this hypothesis, at least until the narration presents an overwhelming amount of information to overturn it. Over the course of the film, the narration does in fact present overwhelming information. However, it does so gradually by establishing a pattern of redundant visions the protagonist, Louise, experiences. More ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The syuzhet reveals definitively that the opening sequence was a vision of the future rather than a flashback. The first time the narration offers a little depth of knowledge of Louise is when she asks Costello "Who is this child?". This is the first time Louise comments on her visions, unleashing the slightest bit of depth of knowledge on her character. Costello immediately responds: "Louise sees future." Now the gaps begin to fill themselves quickly. Louise tries to explain to Weber that the weapon the heptapods are trying to give humanity is their language, which causes whoever learns it to begin to perceive time nonlinearly. Louise also begins to control these visions so she can receive vital information from the future to save the day in the present. A Bar At The Folies-BergпїЅre And Les Demoiselles Analysis In representing female subjects, both Pablo Picasso's oil painting Les Demoiselles d'Avignon (1907) and Г‰douard Manet's A Bar at the Folies–BergГЁre (1882) manipulate the formal techniques of composition and perspective to create new ways of seeing their subject, emulating their contemporary society's shifting views of women and the individual. Les Demoiselles depicts five naked prostitutes, flaunting their bodies, and some wearing tribal masks. In comparison, A Bar at the Folies–BergГЁre represents a female, who may also be a prostitute, tending a bar. The depiction of previously 'hidden' female subjects alone was an innovation of the perception of the artist, however, the formal treatment in representing these subjects was an important break from tradition. Despite evident differences in the compositional elements of Picasso's Les Demoiselles and Manet's A Bar at the Folies–BergГЁre, both utilise a composition with a shallow plane to distort visual perception in their work. This distortion promotes the spectator to revaluate the way they perceive these female prostitute subjects. Picasso's treatment of paint and use blocked colours in Les Demoiselles creates the sensation of a flat, two–dimensional image, signifying a radical break from traditional modes of representation. The lack of depth in the painting pushes the figures of female prostitutes on top of each other, layering the stark angles and sharp forms that make up their bodies. In addition, this layering on such a large scale (243.9 cm Г— 233 cm) creates a feeling that the figures are pushing beyond the boundaries of the work and imposing themselves onto the spectator. Furthermore, the stances of the prostitutes, who are dramatically flaunting their bodies with arms raised and torsos presented openly, fills the frame, refusing the spectator to accesses to other areas of the image. Instead the female figures dominate the attention of the viewer, in some ways empowering these figures who previously lacked representation. These formal elements of composition all come together in Les Demoiselles to challenge the spectator's ways of viewing the females in the work. Similarly, in The Bar at the Folies–BergГЁre Manet also uses compositional elements to shape ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Mongolia, winter temperatures can plunge as low as –35В°C, yet the school toilets were no more than outdoor pit latrines. There was no clean water for the kids to drink or wash their hands with. The formation of cognitive maps, which serve as internal representations of the world, are dependent upon the human capacities for vision and visual perception (1). Under normal viewing conditions, changes produce transient signals that can draw attention. Change blindness studies are designed to eliminate or block these transient signals by inserting a visual disruption when the change occurs (3). Flicker Paradigm studies examine the occurrence of change blindness and attempt to explain the inability to not see that which is directly in front of our eyes. The Flicker Paradigm demonstrates the essentiality of attention in the process of seeing (4). Time to name ink colors for congruent stimuli should not vary much with visual field but the time to name ink color of incongruent should increase as the stimuli gets color to the right visual field. Methods Participants This study contained a total of fifteen students from the University of Tampa's upper level psychology class. Thirteen of the participants were female and the remaining two were male. In addition to this class thirty six students from other classes were also used in this study. Materials I–Mac G3 computers and a program from Old Mississippi University were used to test the lateralized Stroop effect from http://psychexp.olemiss.edu. The name of the actual program was the Lateralized Stroop Experiment. The stimuli used by this program were colors that appeared laterally on a computer screen. Not only did the colors appear laterally but in differing hemispheres on the computer screen. The colors were in the form of written words. For example the word "red" was shown in green font. This was be an example of an incongruent stimulus because the written color word did not agree with the font color shown. An example of

• 36. What Is Huxley's Vision In Brave New World As defined by the Merriam–Webster dictionary, a society includes "people in general thought of as living together in organized communities with shared laws, traditions, and values." In Amusing Ourselves to Death, Neil Postman's assertion supports Aldous Huxley's vision about the future state of society over that of George Orwell's. According to Orwell's 1984, 1984 was to be the year that "Big Brother" would lead a dictatorial government, however this never occurred. As Postman states throughout his essay, the present society is far more reflective of Huxley's view of the future depicted in his novel Brave New World. Evidence supportive of Huxley's vision is seen through an abundance of information available to most societies, a constant pursuit of pleasure and entertainment by societies, and a society's media determining the way in which it defines truth. According to such evidence of the "contemporary society," Postman's assertion that Huxley's vision is more relevant today than is Orwell's is true. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 37. Can You Spare Some Change? Can You Spare Some Change? Ian S. Davis Webster University Abstract Influencing the change of one person is extremely difficult. Multiply that change amongst an organization with fifty or five thousand people becomes an almost superhuman undertaking. Nevertheless, many businesses and organizations alike are attempting this incredible feat. The majority that does so effectively concentrate on presenting the change that needs to occur in a completely unique way. When this occurs, the people react emotionally to the message, and that thrusts the change into action. "They see, then feel, then change" as authors Kotter and Cohen so eloquently lay out in their book, The Heart of Change. In this paper, I will attempt to swerve my way through Kotter and Cohen's eight step process and compare as well as contrast their steps against another textbook entitled Organizational Behavior and Management. While there may not be a perfect solution to instill the much needed change one sees in their organization, utilizing these lessons can certainly generate the much needed, fresh ideas that could influence the overarching goals and objectives leadership desires. Increase Urgency If an effort to make changes in an organization is to come into fruition, the first step is to create a sense of urgency. To change with urgency, it is vital employees seek prospective issues that will energize associates, with a sense of "Let's go, now!" Without earnestness, large–scale ... • 39. The First Phase Model For Strategic Planning Essay The first phase of Patrick Sanaghan 's (2009) five phase model for strategic planning is getting organized. The first part of this phase consists of the president putting together a planning task force – PTF. Sanaghan (2009) argues that the PTF should be co–chaired by one high–level faculty member, and one senior administrator. The rest of the task force – 20–30 members – should be comprised of a diverse mixture of faculty and staff, who represent a wide variety of groups on campus (Sanaghan, 2009). Once established, Sanaghan (2009) argues that the PTF should formulate a year–long schedule of planning events and also develop a transparent, easily accessible, communication system. Next, the PTF must partake in an engaging training session where they will learn about the strategic planning process and collaborative meeting strategies.(Sanaghan, 2009). The second phase consists of gathering data and engaging all stakeholders in the process. Sanaghan (2009) explains that the intended outcome of this phase is to connect stakeholders in an engaging, interactive environment, that fosters the development of ideas. He believes that data gathering should primarily be collected through face–to–face interaction, with secondary use of surveys (Sanaghan, 2009). One way interaction can be facilitated is through planning updates, which Sanaghan (2009) describes as an interactive discussion process among campus stakeholders. At these updates, the present status of planning should be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Essay On Vertical Diplopia vi. Binocular Single Vision and Diplopia Binocular single vision is achieved when an object from same position in space stimulates corresponding points on the retina. This simultaneous stimulation of corresponding retinal points results in the perception of viewing a single object with the two eyes. Her recent onset of transient diplopia indicates the diplopia may be secondary to a recent change in her ocular and/or systemic health. C. The thyroid is responsible for maintaining the body's homeostatic functions including metabolic rate, growth, and nervous system development. Normal thyroid function is regulated through the feedback control of the hypothalamus–anterior pituitary gland–thyroid axis. The hypothalamus, which maintains homeostasis, produces thyroid releasing hormone (TRH). TRH stimulates the anterior pituitary to produce thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH aka thyrotropin). TSH acts on the thyroid gland, causing it to produce the hormones, triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4). Both T3 and T3 act in a negative feedback loop, with T3 inhibiting the hypothalamus, and T4 inhibiting the anterior pituitary gland (Ota, 2016) . Thyroid follicular endothelial cells contain thyrotropin receptors. Antibodies against thyrotropin receptors develop, stimulating receptors on these follicular endothelial cells, stimulating excess production of thyroid hormone (Bahn, 2010). [See Figures 1 and ... This applies to world vision in a sense that they need to hold accountability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
