Sean Puffy Combs Essay
Sean Puffy Combs
Biography
Sean "Puffy" Combs has established himself as one of the biggest names in hip–hop (Heal). Combs a Harlem native whose father was killed when he
was only 3 years old, rose from the mean streets to the top of the music business (AP wire, March 18). "It is true that he started from scratch, and I
don't think that because he was arrested, people will stop buying his albums (AP wire, March 18). Before pursuing his career as a vocalist, Combs
was a business–minded Howard University student and an intern at Andre Harrell's Uptown Records. Combs soon became the A&R representative for
Uptown. He then began producing for soon to be mega–stars Mary J. Blige, Heavy D., and Jodeci to name a few. After being let go... Show more

Artists such as New Edition, KRS–One, Mariah Carey, Lil Kim and others wanted their re–mixes done by the young entrepreneur. This being said to
emphasize the power that the label had to sign other hot unknown artists. Faith Evans (now widow of B.I.G.), Total, 112, MA$E, and new artist
Dream are all on the Bad Boy label. Every one of the artists has achieved gold, platinum, or multi–platinum sales. As a matter of fact "to date, all of the
releases under the Bad Boy label have achieved these staggering sales figures…(AP Wire, December 5). Sales were solid for Bad Boy in 1995
and 1996, however 1997 was the year that the tiger was let loose on the hip–hop scene, and it has never been the same since. The year started off in
March with what seemed to be a disaster. Chris Wallace a.k.a. "The Notorious B.I.G." was gunned down in front of Combs outside of an industry
party in L.A. What looked like a catastrophe for the label was actually a godsend. The shooting in March of 24 year–old Christopher Wallace boosted
the ascent of businessman/producer Sean "Puffy" Combs, Bad Boy Records. In fact during the summer of 1997, most of the songs on the upper
reaches of the music charts were either by, featuring, or about "The Notorious B.I.G." (Cox News, Nov. 28). Combs and Wallace, joined by 19 year
old protГ©gГ© rapper MA$E, were at the top of the charts almost the entire year. Nothing prepared the label for the biggest selling single to come.

valuable relationship with Detroit hip hop station WHTD, which would serve to kick off his rapping career. By showing his rap skills to the
Detroit station he was allowed into a rap battle competition. This relevancy gave him the ability to meet esteemed rapper Kanye West and show

Tupac Figurative Language
Tupac Shakur was a very talented man. His poem " I Cry" has a deepful meaning to it. He was born Sept 13, 1996. He grew up in New York City. In his
poem he is telling how he is alone with no one to listen to him & his pain he is dealing with. He has no " ear to confide in". Tupac's poem has many
different examples of figurative language. For example he says "The tears i cry are bitter & warm,They flow with life but take no form" and also,
"I cry because my heart is torn, I find it difficult to carry on". Those are an examples of imagery. In my opinion, I feel that he is in pain and whatever
his problem is he can't seem to move on from it . In one of his sentences he has alliteration. In the sentence, it says " Then to stop and see what makes

How Did Big Sean Change The World
Big Sean, a hip hop artist who was raised by his grandmother who was a heroic figure in his and his siblings' lives. She was the only one by their side
growing up and took care of them on their birthdays, holidays, made home–cooked meals, and played the role of mother and father. Big Sean dedicated
the song "One Man Can Change the World" to her. In the song the singer Big Sean sings the song in a third person point of view. He describes how
hard it was growing up in a rundown town and how difficult it is for an African American or anyone who lives surrounded by people from rural areas
like the area he grew up in to make something out of themselves. His grandmother was the person who gave him advice as a child and he listened to
everything she taught him. To dream big and no matter where you come from one man can change the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Her name was Lorraine E. Watson. She died a couple of days before the song was released and she was going to fly in to watch her grandson
perform the song for her as a surprise. She was the first African American female captains in World War II. She was as well a police officer, a
teacher, and a counselor. Not only was she all of these things, she was a heroic figure to many people especially her grandson. In the song he says,
"Being black you had to extra extra try." Meaning because she was an African American especially back in her times she had to try harder to be an
example and be seen as good person. Not only did the quote refer to her and how hard she worked but, to all the African Americans who have
struggled because of their skin tone or where they come from. This was one of the many lessons she taught her grandson. She had high hopes for his
grandson, to go and change the world because one person can make a difference no matter where you come from. She taught him how to love and be a

Biography of Christopher Wallace, The Big Essay
"Sky's the limit and you know that you can have, what you want, be what you want, have what you want, be what you want." This lyric by
Christopher Wallace simply states that if you want something that it is possible for you to achieve it with enough hard work. Christopher Wallace,
known to the world as the Notorious BIG was a product of the streets growing up in the ghetto of Brooklyn in the 1990s. Christopher inspired many
with his timeless lyrics reflecting the American dream from the perspective of the average poverty stricken youth. His rise to success gave hope to
the masses that if a young kid from Brooklyn can make it big, that anyone can (Wilkins). His songs and image continue to impact the world today as

This sparked the beef between east and west coast rappers that still lasts to this day. In August of 1994 he married Faith Evans. A month later in
September he released his debut album, Ready to Die (UXL). This is the album that changed his life and left an everlasting impact on the world.
With 2pac`s death occurring in the end of 1996 the beef between east and west coast rappers was at an all time high and Biggie was promoting his
second album. He played a controversial show in LA during this strand of promotional shows. The night of this show, March 9, 1997, Biggie was
shot and killed leaving the club. Going from nothing to becoming an of the biggest rappers in history is truly inspiring to many. In his lyrics he
showed the truth of the streets that many people never knew and the struggles of the everyday life for some. It wasn't a glorious journey to
stardom but more so a road with many obstacles in the way. Many of which affected his public image because being a former crack dealer and
having gang associations does not look good to the general public. Biggie however never glorified or promoted his past lifestyle with his music. He
portrayed them as motivation to make it big so that he would never have to live that kind of way again. (UXL). To go from being in and out of prison
to being an of the most successful hip–hop artists of all time is a lavish change. Christopher Wallace

Romeo And Juliet Love Analysis
Everyone has heard of Romeo and Juliet and the idea of young love, how two people fall helplessly for each other and would do anything for that
one person at such a young age. Well, I don't buy it, young love is a facade. Young lovers are fools who are enamored with the idea of others
flaunting over them, they can't actually love though. You cannot love someone if you do not really know who you are nor if you do not even know
how to love yourself, nevertheless another. I'm sure you are wondering what made me come to this conclusion. Well, buckle up. It all started
sophomore year, my facade of young love that I knew was a facade but ignored it. I met him in a good Christian church, which makes the ending so

A Short Story : A Story?
She shook her head. "Not at all. It was a pleasure meeting you Sue, and I wish you both all the happiness in the world." Miranda put on her coat and
hugged them both before leaving.
Kyle walked her to the door. "I feel horrible for ditching you, but promise we can raincheck for tomorrow night, anytime you want."
"We'll figure something out, don't worry about me. Go get your girl."
"I will. Thanks again." Kyle kissed her cheek and walked back towards Sue who was discussing something with the maГ®tre D.
Her plan worked too well and now she was taking a cab home instead of another ride in the Bentley. The ride gave her a chance to think about what
she wanted from Chuck. If she was going to move past the affair she wanted to know why it happened, so it would never happen again. The only way
to get those answers was to force his hand. Make him spill the beans.
As expected Chuck was waiting in his truck when she arrived, only Kyle wasn't on her arm. She wanted the joy she saw in Kyle's eyes, the knowledge
that things were working out. Her marriage had to survive this.
She walked into the house without acknowledging him, but she left the front door open. He followed her inside. Once her coat and shoes were
removed she turned to face him.
His eyes were big saucers of green as he ate in her appearance. "You look amazing. I've been here for hours, I got worried when you weren't answering

The Stillness Of The Hours Essay
Time will drag us all to our deserved end.
I wonder where the hours have gone? the weeks, and the months. Can you figure it out?
This puzzle of living, of day and night circling
Your brain like an African dance,
Murmuring your; name as a black magic chant?
Try your luck you might win a lottery.
Cry as much as you can; losers stay losers.
Brave hearts fight for noble causes.
The innocents by the millions are thrown like, trash into cities, which smell of rotten human corpses.
Where shall I begin? What shall I say?
My gypsy soul wants to dance till infinity, but
My heart is aching for the cities full of, destruction I which they are not on our planet.

In The Stillness of the Hours x I still think of you in the stillness of the hours,
When morning dew falls upon the flowers.
Souls travel through distance and time to meet, guided by love's power.
I still speak to the stillness of silence of what has been, or why it has to be a twisted way to your door.
Come what may, there I will be, standing near your
Shore to take me away to a planet only us reside in.
My heart still craves a love artistically painted on my clouds of love's pain.
In the stillness of the hours, I whisper your name.
You hear it despite the heavy rain.
I can't deny my feelings; they are sealed and hidden in my heart, away from ears that eavesdrop on lovers in chains.
Come what may, the scared hours that travel through time will feed our love to help it bloom in the garden's eternal fragrant perfume.

Living A Life Of Poverty
All over the world, many have gone through the struggle of poverty. You don't have to be homeless to struggle more than the next person, it could be
just not having lights on in your home, past due rent, or maybe not having enough or anything at all to eat. Many, feel like because they go through
similar things that they will never accomplish anything due to them not having the resources. Others around you can be very doubtful of you too,
which could make you believe even more that you weren't meant to go further in life. Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. or Biggie Small's
song "Juicy, released in 1994 from his Ready to Die album, selling over 607,000 copies is a great example of living a life of poverty. Biggie tells of
his story through song, where he relates of doubtful people and his struggle. This song is about a young black male who went from poverty to living
his version of the American dream based on textual analysis of the lyrics.
Biggie makes it known throughout his entire song that he isn't ashamed of how he grew up before wealth. I think that his main point was to let
people know that he will never forget where he came from and that it's the lessons he learned during his childhood/teen years, that undisguisedly got
him to where he is now. From the beginning to end of the song Biggie lets us in on little bits of his past, for example "Remember when I used to eat
sardines for dinner" (verse 1, line 14). In this lyric, he talks of how it was one of the

"Countess, there's someone to see you in the throne room."
Countess Dracora of Monarch's Glenn did not feel like doing anything, least of all meeting someone this early in the morning.
"Can it wait, Trenor?" The Countess moaned, wrapping her blankets over her head, wishing for that five more minutes of rest.
Trenor opened her bedroom door and shook his head. "Afraid not."
She uncovered, sitting up and rubbing her eyes, letting out a loud roar as she yawned. "Who is it, then?" She asked. "Why is it so important to wake
me so early?"
Trenor laughed, "It's two in the afternoon, Countess."
She watched as he opened her wardrobe and picked out a dress–pant outfit that would show her as the monarch of Monarch's Glenn. "Ah, here we go.

"Lord Guardian O'Dell of the Mystic Realms." Dracora spoke, and O'Dell finally looked up at her. "What do we owe the pleasure of your company?"
"I only wish it were pleasure." Lord Guardian O'Dell's voice wavered. "My brother is at it again."
"Which one?"
"Orthos." O'Dell forced, afraid of what that name may entail. "I have seen it."
"Control your ravings, O'Dell." Countess Dracora commanded. "Approach and explain."
O'Dell walked slowly up to her before bowing. "Orthos will destroy me in his next war." He explained. "Hundreds of Companions will perish at his
hands."
"Why come to me?" Dracora asked. "I have nothing to do with your realm, Lord Guardian. I only see to my own people."

is like living in the ghettos of New York City where violence never stops. Both of these artists grew up seeing and living a life filled with violence.
Gunshots and drive–byes, death and murder were a daily occurrence. Although the lyrics of both artists are simply telling their life stories and how hard

It may be hard for a kid to understand why his parents didn't want him or her listening to Pac or Biggie's lyrics, but as their actions on TV and in
music videos displayed the same notions, their fear only increased. For both artists, they had videos displaying women with nearly nothing on,
smoking, drinking and carrying weapons, but kids people liked it. That's why both of these artists are known as the best of all time. What they
didn't see though was the rising amount of disrespect towards women, increase in drug sales and an enormous increase in gun violence during this
time. This is proven by Lindsay John, "The endemic of violence in the black community can be directly traced back to the whole irresponsible
images of black masculinity which is fed to us through music." (174) Along with the videos, they had concerts that displayed rash and harsh
comments towards not only whites but also law enforcement. Like in this lyric by Tupac: "Without a cop harrassing me, searching me Then asking
my identity Hands up, throw me up against tha wall Didn't do a thing at all I'm tellen you one day these suckers gotta fall Cuffed up throw me on tha

Musically Inspired Movements Essays
From infancy to adulthood, music has been a huge part of our lives. Whether one is listening to their favorite song in the car or out at a social event,
music not only is very entertaining, but possesses the ability to influence specific behaviors in an individual. With music, various emotions are
triggered using schema's and person–level and context–level construct's. Schema's are like a folder in a document that collects and combines a host of
day–to–day interactions in the everyday life of an individual. For example, think about every time you have attended a birthday party. By attending
multiple birthday parties, you then have a "schema" of what to expect and not to expect at a birthday party. This concept is also applied to music. Our...

Michael Jackson hoped that society would be aware about the mismanagement of the Earth. As a result, the "Earth Song" was given much attention.
This musical piece was able to change many people's perspective towards the Earth as the song raised awareness around the world just as Michael

finally became aware of how mistreated the world we live in is, not everyone was touched on an emotional aspect due to person–level constructs

Tristan Revealed: A Narrative Fiction
Tristan popped an olive into his mouth and chewed, appearing sober and engaged. "Listen, I'm not one to promote harassing women, but I think
you need to give it one more try with Gwen. When all else fails, the power of the written word can do magic." He slid his hand into his jeans
pocket and withdrew a sleek silver fountain pen, one that cost more than Arthur's watch. "It was a gift from Isolde. I can't part with it. Hopefully,
the thing still writes..." Tristan scribbled on his hand. "Good as new." "You think I should write her a letter?" "Not just a letter. The letter. Anyway,
you're going to talk and I'll write." Tristan spun toward Cenred. "Hey, can I get a sheet of paper?" Cenred rolled his eyes as if someone had asked him

"I don't like being beholden to anyone. I'll pay my own bill." Arthur took two fifties out of his wallet and slapped them down on the bar. That was
more than enough to cover both tabs, the NOTEBOOK, and a very generous tip, even though Cenred was a bit of a testy fellow. "Consider it payment
for your time and work, Tristan." His mouth tilting into a frown, Tristan put away his wallet and slid off the barstool. "Thanks, Arthur. It was good
talking to you." Tristan hurried for the door, and Arthur followed him outside into the misty autumn night. "Would you walk with me? To Gwen's? It'll
take about twenty minutes, but I could use some support." "Yeah." Tristan scratched his dense beard. "Yeah, that'd be fine." They talked politics on the
way, which often happened in D.C., and Tristan seemed shocked to discover that Arthur was a left–wing Democrat. "A guy with your obvious money?"
Tristan said as they walked, lifting his collar against a sudden blast of cold autumn air. "What's in it for you?" "That's the thing; I'm smart enough to

Song Analysis Of 'ILl Be Missing You'
I'll Be Missing You "I'll Be Missing You" is a rap ballad by Puff Daddy and Faith Evans featuring R&B group 112. This song was written in memory of
renowned rap artist Christopher Wallace who many may also know him as 'Biggie Smalls, Big papa, or The Notorious B.I.G.' He was gunned down
and murdered in Los Angles in March of 1997. Almost immediately following his death, Puff Daddy and Wallace's widowed wife,Faith Evans, team up
to say their farewells. What started out as a tribute to Wallace, ended up having a much bigger impact on the world than expected. On March 9, 1997,
Christopher Wallace's life was cut short at the age of twenty–four in a drive by shooting in Los Angles. Wallace was a close friend to Puff Daddy and
husband to Faith Evans. Distraught by Wallace's death, they wanted to perform a song in memory of him and also to help gain closure for their selves.
Within the past decade, Hip Hop has become increasingly sought–after both in popular music and in a genre of its own. When Puff Daddy released the
song it went above both the genres of rock and hip–hop. The song, "I'll Be Missing You", features leading vocals from Wallace's widowed wife, Faith
Evans, and background vocals from the famous R&B group, 112. Wallace and Evans did not write the song, "I'll Be Missing You" was actually written
by multiple people. "He took the lyrics from a Brooklyn rapper Todd "Sauce Money" Gaither. Todd Gaither did receive a Grammy award in 1997 for
his lyrics. The chorus sung

Analysis Of Juicy By Christopher Wallace
All over the world many have gone through or are still going through the struggle of being in poverty. You don't have to be homeless to be struggling,
it could be just not have lights on in your home, past due rent, or maybe not having enough or anything at all to eat. Many have felt like just because
they go through this that they will never be anything because they don't have the resources to accomplish anything in life, and other people around you
who doubt you can make you believe even more that you will never amount to anything in life. Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. or
Biggie small's song "Juicy", released in 1994 from his Ready to Die album, selling over 607,000 copies is a great example of all of this. He tells this
exact story through his song about how people used to doubt him and even goes on to tell about his life in the struggle and coming up from it.
Biggie makes it known throughout his entire song that he isn't ashamed of how he grew up before the wealth. I think his main point was to let
people know that he will never forget and that it's the lessons he learned during those times that undisguisable got him to where he is now.
Throughout the entire song Biggie tells us little parts of his past like "'Remember when I used to eat sardines for dinner" (verse 1, line 14). This is
one of the things he went through was having times where would have eat like this because it was all that he had. Now honestly he didn't always go

Summary Of Christopher Wallace's 'Things Done Changed'
Before he became "The Notorious Big", Christopher Wallace was your run–of–the–mill crack dealer. Sure, he occasionally rapped, but selling crack was
his sure–fire way to provide for his ailing mother and his infant daughter. Why? Well as Biggie explains on his song "Things Done Changed",
"...because the streets is a short stop/ either you're slinging crack rock/ or you got a wicked jump shot..." Even after signing a contract with Bad Boy
Records and Sean "Puff Daddy" Combs to release music, Biggie didn't stop selling crack. Famously Puff Daddy had to wire to Biggi After the raid,

There are many speculations on why the blood turned bad, but the most logical answer is when Tupac was shot the first time. On November 30,
1994, Tupac and his crew went to to record an album. In the same building, several floors above where Pac was jumped, robbed, and shot, Biggie
Smalls and Puff Daddy were recording a music video. Tupac and his friend Freddie were about to board onto the elevator when they were
approached by three men. Tupac immediately reached for his gun when the other men pulled out their weapons. They shot him in the leg, sending
Tupac to the ground, where they snatched his jewelry are shot him a couple more times. Biggie and his crew knew that Tupac was in the building
and didn't bother to even come down and see what happened. Pac, while in the hospital, is charged with sodomy. Once he recovered, Tupac was sent
to prison where he would serve a short sentence. He was livid at Christopher for never visiting his "friend" while he was down. Another slap to the
face for Pac was when Bad Boy Records started to make jokes about the rapper and the full on hatred started once Biggie released the song titles,
"Who Shot Ya". Tupac got out and immediately responded with a track titles, "Hit Em Up". Now that this rivalry was set up, it was pretty obvious that

dark and handsome boy, the bad boy that every girl wanted; turned my world upside down. Him being the first boy that ever seemed to show interest in
fifteen–year–old me (with bad style and a modest personality) made me question why any guy like him would want to talk to a shy, and awkward

way he did, and wanting to spend every second with me. Star struck as I was, we texted for weeks over the summer, so much as to that my friends and

A Necessary Reality Check : ' Greasy Lake '

A Necessary Reality Check
It is very common for teenagers to go through many phases before blossoming into adulthood. During these phases they rebel, and get experimental
with drugs, alcohol, sexuality and become involved in other various activities. As a result, as teenagers age they gain insight and use these experiences
to further navigate through life. They could learn from their mistakes or continue down a path of self–destruction. In the short story "Greasy Lake," T.C.
Boyle writes about a group of male teenagers who go through a common adolescent phase. Toward the end of the story, theprotagonist makes a
decision about what direction he wants to take his life. At first the narrator wanted to achieve the life of a "bad boy" but gets an epiphany while
pursing this persona and ultimately realizes that he just wants to be a regular nineteen year old.
Throughout the story the protagonist and his friends try to embody what typical "bad boys" do. The story opens with the narrator talking about his past
of being as a "bad boy", when he says "We were all dangerous characters then. We wore torn–up leather jackets, slouched around with toothpicks in our
mouths, sniffed glue and ether and what somebody claimed was cocaine."(168) Still pursing his rebellious image, the narrator talks about his wild
nights at Greasy Lake. A lake that used to have clear waters but was now a murky and dirty body of water filled with beer cans

Hamlets Attitudes Towards Death In William Shakespeare's...
In a following speech Hamlet's disposition towards the world persists, yet his attitude towards death has undergone a transformation. Previously,
Hamlet was quick to proclaim his desire to die, but by the third act he's become uncertain. This hesitation becomes apparent in Hamlet's "To be or not
to be" speech (3.1.56–90). With those opening words, Hamlet debates whether he should exist or not. The fact that this is still a question for him
shows that he continues to be displeased with life. Hamlet asks himself, "Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous
fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them? To die to sleep." This reveals a new concern that Hamlet has, he doesn't
ask what is best for him to do, but rather what is nobler, which makes it apparent that he's concerned with maintaining his character. Even though he
maintains the desire to escape the world and the experience in it, he still cares about the image that he leaves behind. Subsequently, Hamlet uses
war–like diction, comparing life to war with "slings and arrows" which makes life intolerable. This just reaffirms the ideas Hamlet has had throughout
the play, however, a shift transpires when he mulls over the idea thatdeath is like being asleep. A problem arises when he realizes that even when you
sleep you experience, "To sleep; perchance to dream: Ay, there's the rub." This could be easily misinterpreted as Hamlet hoping to dream, but perchance

Tupac seem to work a lot more on music, that's the reason he had so many albums released then biggie did. Even after Tupac died, he still had

just more than a rapper, he was an actor also. So, Tupac had more going for himself then Biggie. The big war with East Coast vs. West Coast really
most people were on Tupac side because that's who inspired them the most and whom believe that was the better rapper. Both Biggie and Tupac,

Importance Of Love In My Life
I had always loved nature. I always played outside and ran around in the morning to cool off in the morning dew. It never failed to refresh me off

was like the world was ending, but at the same time, not ending. So in my opinion, I had to suffer. "Samantha Rose Jenkan!" My mom hollered
contempt. I perked up immediately like a deer reacting to gun fire. "Get down here right now! Stop moaning like a dying animal! You're in big
trouble!" Man, she liked to decry. My immediate reaction was to sit there stunned. I looked down at incomplete homework due tomorrow. I winced,

Malcolm Gladwell's Influence On Black Youth
Ready To Outlie "Either you're slinging crack rock or you got a wicked jump shotп»ї." A strong and profound message that resonated in the minds of
black youth during the end of the 20th century. It meant that, as a black youth, you had to either be a successful drug hustler or an amazing athlete
to live comfortable financially. Young Christopher Wallace, a boy growing up in Brooklyn, New York during the rise of crack, was set on
becoming rich and this was his formula for doing so. He was far too overweight for sports and besides, hustling crack gave a much quicker payout
(Coker). So if selling drugs was, in his opinion, the only means of hitting it rich, why is the above quote not being cited as coming from "Christopher

Though Gladwell is correct in telling us that opportunity is a key component to success, his emphasis on the importance of opportunity and less on a
person's own individuality and character traits, is absurd. A person's traits are important because they are characteristics upon which talent is dependent,
and talent is no less an important factor to success than opportunity is. If a talent without opportunity leads to little to no achievement, then what kind
of outcome does one get from opportunities without talent? The opportunities that Wallace received as Biggie Smalls were simple, and ones that
Gladwell would most certainly agree with. Like hundreds of other black youths, Biggie grew up in the 1980s, during the golden age of hip–hop.
Hip–hop, to young blacks and the recently paroled, was a means of leaving the streets and a life of poverty ("Remembering the Golden Age of
Hip–hop."). He took to rapping on street corners, which was also a popular thing to do at the time ("Notorious B.I.G. Bigger Than Life"). The
biggest opportunity of his life was probably Sean "Puffy" Combs' insistence that he be signed to a record deal. But why Biggie Smalls and not the
countless other young rappers, such as Chico Del Vec and Lonnie "Common" Lyn, who also rapped on the street corners of New York, given the
same opportunity? Furthermore, how did he become so successful despite being an overweight, dark black kid with a lazy eye during a time when
hip–hop was

I remember that day when I moved into that town. It was a fresh and clear day. The birds were singing and the sun was shining all over. I had

but, nothing was interesting. I had walked around and I was pretty sure that I had seen something shimmering in the sunlight, but when I looked
closer, it was gone. Now, I will tell you how I became this: a ghost. Over the next few days, I was well known with the town, but I had a funny way
of seeing things. I always thought that something was following me around wherever I went, but whenever I turned, nothing was there. When I
was at home alone, I would hear a banging sound, but when I went to investigate, there was nothing. I could also stare at a wall or something and
find a difficult pattern, or even patterns in the ground. I could read those, and predict something, and usually that something would come true. A
few nights later, something strange happened. I was sitting in bed, and was just thinking, when suddenly, I heard a voice in my head. I shook my
head, but there was that voice again. It was deep but cool, and I grabbed my head and yelled. I started crying, thinking that I was going loopy, and fell

Fast Car by Wyclef Jean Analysis
When a Car is More Than Just a Car The first time I heard the song, "Fast Car" by Wyclef Jean, I really liked it because it was catchy. After
listening to it a few more times, I realized there was a lot of meaning to it. To me, the main goal of this song is to teach the young listeners a difficult
lesson to be careful before they do something that could potentially ruin their lives. Also, Jean is showing his listeners there is help out there and
tomorrow is not promised – everybody needs take advantage of their available resources so they do not harm themselves. Basically, Jean wants
everyone to be careful with the life that they currently have rather than wasting time here on earth. Jean explains his story by using a type of music that

The first half is, "you don't got to be no billionaire, to get a ticket up to the moon. We all know somebody up there, you need a helping hand, look,

up there. We all know people who have passed away and gone to heaven; it is never easy to say goodbye to people who leave Earth. He wants
everyone to know that there is plenty of help on Earth. Jean does not want anybody to mess up their life to the point that it isn't worth it to fix it. This
part of the song has the most symbolic meaning. Cars symbolize the journey of life – from birth to death, just as they help you travel from one place to
another. Jean uses the verses to show literal meanings of why we need to be careful with cars; he uses the chorus to show the symbolic meaning
associated with fast cars and why they have the ability to be so dangerous. Also, he prefers not to have any hardships to control his listeners' lives
either. The verse goes on to say, "...to help you see clearly now." Jean wants to be the helping hand for everybody. Why die, when you could fix
your problems and live as a happy individual? The whole purpose of the song is to be smart and not let our cars or problems control us. The bridge
of the song emphasizes the dangers of cars. A person might be drinking or not in the right mental state to drive, however if they pick

Grotesque Nature Of Man In Shakespeare's Hamlet
When we're first introduced to Hamlet in Act 1 Scene 2 we learn two things about his current temperament, he's disgusted with everything in the earth
and he wants to "resolve into a dew," (1.2.130) or rather, evaporate out of the earth. Hamlet comments on the grotesque nature of man by using biblical
language when he says, "O, that this too too sullied flesh would melt and resolve itself into a dew" (1.2.129–130). Recognizing the sinful body and
nature of man, Hamlet wishes that his own body would just disappear into oblivion. The word flesh conjures a biblical context that he extends in the
rest of the speech. This theme is continued when Hamlet wishes he could kill himself, but alas, God has made it a sin (1.2.131–132). This confirms
that Hamlet desires death. However, we also learn that at the moment he believes in God and fears punishment, otherwise, he'd commit suicide. So
far, Hamlet's attack has been concentrated, only speaking about mankind, but in 1.2.133 his critique expands to the entirety of the world. "How
weary, stale, flat and unprofitable, seem to me all the uses of this world." While man is filled with sin, the world is filled with vain, useless objects
that don't serve a purpose. Shortly after Hamlet expresses the belief that the entire world is filth, he calls upon a familiar scene to show how far the
world has fallen. When Hamlet says, "Fie on't! Ah fie! 'Tis an unweeded garden, that grows to seed; things rank and gross in nature possess it merely"

As he navigated his young, uncertain life, Biggie started making music. He got with a crew called the "Old Gold Brothers," and began making music
on music on his own. That's when his life changed. Around his neighborhood, Biggie Smalls, as he called himself then, began building a reputation as
a musician. After a tape of his landed in the hands of Mister Cee, a DJ, Smalls was featured in the hip–hop company, The Source. That article soon
caught the attention of Sean "Puffy" Combs, "a young producer at Uptown Entertainment, a New York–based label expert in hip–hop and rhythm and
blues (Google/bio/biggie smalls/.com)." Uptown to start his own label, Bad Boy Entertainment, he brought Smalls with him. "Immediately, The
Notorious B.I.G., as he now called himself, got to work, appearing on a 1993 remix of Mary J. Blige's single, "Real Love," and followed it up with
a second Blige remix, "What's the 411?" His debut as a solo artist came with the single, "Party and Bullshit," on the soundtrack to the film, who's the
Man? (1993).In 1994, The Notorious B.I.G. released his debut album, "Ready to Die", which told the story of his life, from drug dealer to rapper.
Later on down biggie mad many albums and music with Tupac, Mary .j Blige's, Michael Jackson, and R–Kelly. Biggie still had some troubles when he
was but he kept going". (http://www.biography.com/people/biggie–smalls–20866735)

Message of Hope in Rap Essay
Message of Hope in Rap
The three–year anniversary of Notorious B.I.G's murder is fast approaching and many people still rave about his music. What made him so special
was the connection he had with his listeners. He found many ways to incorporate his life stories into his music that relates to every other "thug"
growing up in the streets from New York City to Los Angeles. The perfect example of this is his double CD, "Life after Death" where most of his
songs are about death and how people deal with it. Its quite ironic how he sort of predicted his own death in the album but by doing so, it helped his
fans and family deal with his death better. To understand his songs, you have to understand the life he grew up in. Raised in... Show more content on

The chorus of the song has 112 singing,
"Sky is the limit and you know that you keep on
Just keep on pressing on
Sky is the limit and you know that you can have what you want, pressing what you want
Sky is the limit and you know that you keep on
Just keep on pressing on
Sky is the limit and you know that you can have what you want, be what you want, have what you want, be what you want"
This chorus gives hope to the other struggling people to have faith and not to give up on life because anything you want, you can have. It just takes
the effort to be proud. This is what Notorious was special at doing. He could deliver the message better then any other person out there, because he is
a prime example to all the people that they do have a future. Although he does talk about being rich and leading a good life now that he has the
money, he also realized the problems of having money. In his song, "Mo Money Mo Problems" he talks about how money brings the downs as well as
the ups. In the intro of the song, Puff Daddy says how money makes you the perfect target of everyone who is envious and jealous of what you have
gained and that if you're not careful of what you do, you can end up "D.O.A". And most people believe this is what caused Biggie's death. Biggie in
the song says,
"I don't know

Sean Puffy Combs Essay

  • 1. Sean Puffy Combs Essay Sean Puffy Combs Biography Sean "Puffy" Combs has established himself as one of the biggest names in hip–hop (Heal). Combs a Harlem native whose father was killed when he was only 3 years old, rose from the mean streets to the top of the music business (AP wire, March 18). "It is true that he started from scratch, and I don't think that because he was arrested, people will stop buying his albums (AP wire, March 18). Before pursuing his career as a vocalist, Combs was a business–minded Howard University student and an intern at Andre Harrell's Uptown Records. Combs soon became the A&R representative for Uptown. He then began producing for soon to be mega–stars Mary J. Blige, Heavy D., and Jodeci to name a few. After being let go... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Artists such as New Edition, KRS–One, Mariah Carey, Lil Kim and others wanted their re–mixes done by the young entrepreneur. This being said to emphasize the power that the label had to sign other hot unknown artists. Faith Evans (now widow of B.I.G.), Total, 112, MA$E, and new artist Dream are all on the Bad Boy label. Every one of the artists has achieved gold, platinum, or multi–platinum sales. As a matter of fact "to date, all of the releases under the Bad Boy label have achieved these staggering sales figures…(AP Wire, December 5). Sales were solid for Bad Boy in 1995 and 1996, however 1997 was the year that the tiger was let loose on the hip–hop scene, and it has never been the same since. The year started off in March with what seemed to be a disaster. Chris Wallace a.k.a. "The Notorious B.I.G." was gunned down in front of Combs outside of an industry party in L.A. What looked like a catastrophe for the label was actually a godsend. The shooting in March of 24 year–old Christopher Wallace boosted the ascent of businessman/producer Sean "Puffy" Combs, Bad Boy Records. In fact during the summer of 1997, most of the songs on the upper reaches of the music charts were either by, featuring, or about "The Notorious B.I.G." (Cox News, Nov. 28). Combs and Wallace, joined by 19 year old protГ©gГ© rapper MA$E, were at the top of the charts almost the entire year. Nothing prepared the label for the biggest selling single to come. Even though he was raised in Detroit he was born in California by his mother Myra Anderson. When he was a kid he had attended Detroit Waldorf School and graduated from Cass Technical High School with a 3.7 GPA. In his later high school years he would gain a valuable relationship with Detroit hip hop station WHTD, which would serve to kick off his rapping career. By showing his rap skills to the Detroit station he was allowed into a rap battle competition. This relevancy gave him the ability to meet esteemed rapper Kanye West and show off his rapping ability. Kanye had only allowed him a small verse in order to impress him, in which Big Sean apparently delivered. This freestyle by Big Sean had impressed Kanye West so highly that he requested that he give him a demo tape, and this demo type had given Kanye the incentive to sign Big Sean to his label two years later. In his poem he is telling how he is alone with no one to listen to him & his pain he is dealing with. He has no " ear to confide in". Tupac's poem has many different examples of figurative language. For example he says "The tears i cry are bitter & warm,They flow with life but take no form" and also, "I cry because my heart is torn, I find it difficult to carry on". Those are an examples of imagery. In my opinion, I feel that he is in pain and whatever his problem is he can't seem to move on from it . In one of his sentences he has alliteration. She was the only one by their side growing up and took care of them on their birthdays, holidays, made home–cooked meals, and played the role of mother and father. Big Sean dedicated the song "One Man Can Change the World" to her. In the song the singer Big Sean sings the song in a third person point of view. He describes how hard it was growing up in a rundown town and how difficult it is for an African American or anyone who lives surrounded by people from rural areas like the area he grew up in to make something out of themselves. Christopher inspired many with his timeless lyrics reflecting the American dream from the perspective of the average poverty stricken youth. It wasn't a glorious journey to stardom but more so a road with many obstacles in the way. Many of which affected his public image because being a former crack dealer and having gang associations does not look good to the general public. Biggie however never glorified or promoted his past lifestyle with his music. He portrayed them as motivation to make it big so that he would never have to live that kind of way again. (UXL). It is supposedly a beautiful part of life, but from the eyes of an innocent teenage girl: love was ugly. And yes, as clichГ© as it is, Summer of 2013, my life had changed forever. Brandon Alec Sotelo, the older boy, the tall, dark and handsome boy, the bad boy that every girl wanted; turned my world upside down. Him being the first boy that ever seemed to show interest in fifteen–year–old me (with bad style and a modest personality) made me question why any guy like him would want to talk to a shy, and awkward little girl like me. Was I more outgoing and more funny than I had thought? Was I that cool or that beautiful that he felt the need to stop me and get my number? Why me? He made me feel special and wanted, a feeling I had never attained before. I only dreamed of having a boy look at me the way he did, and wanting to spend every second with me. Star struck as I was, we texted for weeks over the summer, so much as to that my friends and mom would question why I was always on my phone and what was causing the occasional giggling whenever I was on it. He wanted to meet me in real life and kiss me! Who would want to kiss me? I had hardly looked in a boy's direction, let alone hung out with one and then go as far as a peck on the lips! A Necessary Reality Check : ' Greasy Lake ' Brittney Hester M Hardy English 1020 29 September 2015 A Necessary Reality Check It is very common for teenagers to go through many phases before blossoming into adulthood. During these phases they rebel, and get experimental with drugs, alcohol, sexuality and become involved in other various activities. As a result, as teenagers age they gain insight and use these experiences to further navigate through life. They could learn from their mistakes or continue down a path of self–destruction. In the short story "Greasy Lake," T.C. Boyle writes about a group of male teenagers who go through a common adolescent phase. Toward the end of the story, theprotagonist makes a decision about what direction he wants to take his life. At first the narrator wanted to achieve the life of a "bad boy" but gets an epiphany while pursing this persona and ultimately realizes that he just wants to be a regular nineteen year old. Throughout the story the protagonist and his friends try to embody what typical "bad boys" do. The story opens with the narrator talking about his past of being as a "bad boy", when he says "We were all dangerous characters then. We wore torn–up leather jackets, slouched around with toothpicks in our mouths, sniffed glue and ether and what somebody claimed was cocaine."(168) Still pursing his rebellious image, the narrator talks about his wild nights at Greasy Lake. • 30. Hamlets Attitudes Towards Death In William Shakespeare's... In a following speech Hamlet's disposition towards the world persists, yet his attitude towards death has undergone a transformation. Previously, Hamlet was quick to proclaim his desire to die, but by the third act he's become uncertain. This hesitation becomes apparent in Hamlet's "To be or not to be" speech (3.1.56–90). With those opening words, Hamlet debates whether he should exist or not. The fact that this is still a question for him shows that he continues to be displeased with life. Hamlet asks himself, "Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles, and by opposing end them? To die to sleep." This reveals a new concern that Hamlet has, he doesn't ask what is best for him to do, but rather what is nobler, which makes it apparent that he's concerned with maintaining his character. Even though he maintains the desire to escape the world and the experience in it, he still cares about the image that he leaves behind. Subsequently, Hamlet uses war–like diction, comparing life to war with "slings and arrows" which makes life intolerable. This just reaffirms the ideas Hamlet has had throughout the play, however, a shift transpires when he mulls over the idea thatdeath is like being asleep. A problem arises when he realizes that even when you sleep you experience, "To sleep; perchance to dream: Ay, there's the rub." This could be easily misinterpreted as Hamlet hoping to dream, but perchance ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A strong and profound message that resonated in the minds of black youth during the end of the 20th century. It meant that, as a black youth, you had to either be a successful drug hustler or an amazing athlete to live comfortable financially. Young Christopher Wallace, a boy growing up in Brooklyn, New York during the rise of crack, was set on becoming rich and this was his formula for doing so. He was far too overweight for sports and besides, hustling crack gave a much quicker payout (Coker). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though Gladwell is correct in telling us that opportunity is a key component to success, his emphasis on the importance of opportunity and less on a person's own individuality and character traits, is absurd. A person's traits are important because they are characteristics upon which talent is dependent, and talent is no less an important factor to success than opportunity is. If a talent without opportunity leads to little to no achievement, then what kind of outcome does one get from opportunities without talent? The opportunities that Wallace received as Biggie Smalls were simple, and ones that Gladwell would most certainly agree with. Like hundreds of other black youths, Biggie grew up in the 1980s, during the golden age of hip–hop. Hip–hop, to young blacks and the recently paroled, was a means of leaving the streets and a life of poverty ("Remembering the Golden Age of Hip–hop."). He took to rapping on street corners, which was also a popular thing to do at the time ("Notorious B.I.G. Bigger Than Life"). The biggest opportunity of his life was probably Sean "Puffy" Combs' insistence that he be signed to a record deal. But why Biggie Smalls and not the countless other young rappers, such as Chico Del Vec and Lonnie "Common" Lyn, who also rapped on the street corners of New York, given the same opportunity? I had unpacked and had decided to explore around the place. I went through the shops and the park, and there nothing interested me. I don't know why but, nothing was interesting. I had walked around and I was pretty sure that I had seen something shimmering in the sunlight, but when I looked closer, it was gone. Now, I will tell you how I became this: a ghost. Over the next few days, I was well known with the town, but I had a funny way of seeing things. I always thought that something was following me around wherever I went, but whenever I turned, nothing was there. When I was at home alone, I would hear a banging sound, but when I went to investigate, there was nothing. I could also stare at a wall or something and find a difficult pattern, or even patterns in the ground. I could read those, and predict something, and usually that something would come true. It was deep but cool, and I grabbed my head and yelled. I started crying, thinking that I was going loopy, and fell asleep. It was strange, but stranger things were to come, of course. To me, the main goal of this song is to teach the young listeners a difficult lesson to be careful before they do something that could potentially ruin their lives. Also, Jean is showing his listeners there is help out there and tomorrow is not promised – everybody needs take advantage of their available resources so they do not harm themselves. However, a person does not have to be rich to take a trip up there. We all know people who have passed away and gone to heaven; it is never easy to say goodbye to people who leave Earth. He wants everyone to know that there is plenty of help on Earth. Jean does not want anybody to mess up their life to the point that it isn't worth it to fix it. This part of the song has the most symbolic meaning. Cars symbolize the journey of life – from birth to death, just as they help you travel from one place to another. Jean uses the verses to show literal meanings of why we need to be careful with cars; he uses the chorus to show the symbolic meaning associated with fast cars and why they have the ability to be so dangerous. Also, he prefers not to have any hardships to control his listeners' lives either. The verse goes on to say, "...to help you see clearly now." Jean wants to be the helping hand for everybody. Why die, when you could fix your problems and live as a happy individual? The whole purpose of the song is to be smart and not let our cars or problems control us. • 39. Grotesque Nature Of Man In Shakespeare's Hamlet When we're first introduced to Hamlet in Act 1 Scene 2 we learn two things about his current temperament, he's disgusted with everything in the earth and he wants to "resolve into a dew," (1.2.130) or rather, evaporate out of the earth. Hamlet comments on the grotesque nature of man by using biblical language when he says, "O, that this too too sullied flesh would melt and resolve itself into a dew" (1.2.129–130). Recognizing the sinful body and nature of man, Hamlet wishes that his own body would just disappear into oblivion. The word flesh conjures a biblical context that he extends in the rest of the speech. This theme is continued when Hamlet wishes he could kill himself, but alas, God has made it a sin (1.2.131–132). This confirms that Hamlet desires death. However, we also learn that at the moment he believes in God and fears punishment, otherwise, he'd commit suicide. So far, Hamlet's attack has been concentrated, only speaking about mankind, but in 1.2.133 his critique expands to the entirety of the world. "How weary, stale, flat and unprofitable, seem to me all the uses of this world." While man is filled with sin, the world is filled with vain, useless objects that don't serve a purpose. Shortly after Hamlet expresses the belief that the entire world is filth, he calls upon a familiar scene to show how far the world has fallen. When Hamlet says, "Fie on't! Ah fie! He could deliver the message better then any other person out there, because he is a prime example to all the people that they do have a future.
