Soon Casals began a great deal of touring across Europe and the
Americas, making his fresh, new style increasingly more and more popular.
Because of his popularity, at the time, the solo cellist performer became a very highly thought of
occupation. After his long tour, Casals met and then joined up with two other famous and acclaimed
French performers. These were the violinist Jacques Thibaud and the pianist Alfred Cortot.
Together, these three became a trio that gained international fame as they began touring again for a
long period of time.
Casals began his second career as a conductor in 1908. Then in the year 1919, he founded and he

Music teachers affect the world in many ways. I chose a career in music because I've always
succeeded in playing music and I've always had a passion for it. I love creating, playing and

The following discussion will aim to answer the question of how authentic the images of artists are
within the music industry. The question stemmed from research about identity work, in particular
within the creative industries. Artists are faced with a lot of identity struggles and tensions which a

Brooke Fraser is a New Zealand musician who has gravitated towards the acoustic, singer–
songwriter genre for most of her music career. Her latest album (2013) 'Brutal Romantic' marked a
significant shift in her music as she moved into more electronic sounds. 'Arithmetic' is a very
simplistic, acoustic song off her first album 'What to Do with Daylight' (2003). 'Kings and Queens'
is off her newest album and is a highly produced song containing elements of rock, pop and
electronic sounds. These two songs I have chosen use various music techniques and show the
development of Fraser's music over the past decade.
'Arithmetic' (AR) and 'Kings and Queens' (KQ) share three similarities with its arranging techniques
as both songs use common time 4/4 and a major tonal centre. AR is in the key of B major and KQ is
in the key of C major. The songs are played at a moderate tempo; AR is slightly faster at 117 BPM
and KQ at 100 BPM.
AR does not use the common V–Ch form that many pop songs have; instead it replaces the chorus

Personal Narrative: How Music Therapy Changed My Life
When I started band, I was in the sixth grade, which was a year later than a lot of people in my
band. Neither my parents or step–parents were in band, so they were hesitant to let me join. Once I
was in Mr. Sacco's music class, and got to experience what his personality was like (super fun,
caring, and spunky), and told my parents. I joined band immediately, or as soon as I could, sixth
grade. Even though I was a year behind, my band director as well as the others in my section helped
me a lot. Since the beginning of my band experience, I have made many close friendships and had a
ton of amazing experiences that may not have happened if it weren't for band. Everyone always has
the most fun on band related trips, from going to auditions, to going to Florida for a week. It has
truly been an honor to be in the Ava Pride Band for the past seven years.

The Pianist is the story of Wladyslaw Szpilman's experiences leading to up, and throughout the
German invasion/occupation of Poland. He writes an emotional autobiography about his trials, and
experiences in the Warsaw Ghetto during World War II. Throughout his journey, Szpilman must
attempt to navigate the rapidly changing political and social situation in Warsaw. He gives us an
overview (highlighting the important events) of his family's journey from a Jewish family of
moderate standing (thanks to his exceptional piano playing) stripped of their possessions, their
home, and finally each other. Within all of this turmoil, Szpilman survives every danger and ordeal
to document his journey after the Russian Army at the end of World War II liberates Warsaw.
Throughout the story, the focus remains limited to what is happening inside the Warsaw Ghetto, and
the immediate area in Poland. Most of what is reported to the author in the writing comes
secondhand from outside the Ghetto sourced from rumor and hearsay. This fact highlights the stress
