Question 6
1. What have you learnt about technologies from the
process of constructing this product?
2. Microsoft Publisher
Before creating my first magazine cover, my cover of
the school magazine I decided to use Microsoft
publisher to create it on as I felt it would be a lot easier
and simpler to use than Photoshop as I had only had
limited use on that program and I felt I could make a
better one on this program. I already knew how to use
it and could easily insert text, shapes and images.
3. Adobe Fireworks
I found this program very useful when doing my
school magazine as it allowed me to edit pictures and
get the unneeded background out of the image as well
as cutting parts out. I used this as it allowed me to edit
images simply without using a more complex program
such as Photoshop.
4. Adobe Photoshop
I used this program on my final task which was creating a music
magazine to a high standard. I would need to use this
programme as this was the most professional one we had on the
school computers and it was the programme I could make the
most realistic and professional looking magazine. Prior to doing
the final task we were asked to recreate a already existing music
magazine, this was extremely helpful as it allowed me to improve
my photoshop skills and figure out how to make a magazine as
well as giving me a good idea what to do. I learnt whilst remaking
a magazine how to use tools on photoshop such as the magic
wand, eraser tool, brushes and burn tool, as well as how to
change the colour and shapes of images. It took quite while to
complete the magazine as I was trying to make it look as
professional and realistic as possible.
6. Fonts
I used Dafont.com to find a lot of my fonts for my front
cover, contents and double page spread as they stand
out and there is a lot of different options on the site
and a lot of them seem to fit in with the rap genre as
there is very bold text that looks good with the house
colors of my magazine on them.
7. What I used:
I used a praktica dc 440 to take the photos for my magazine.
I used a 4gb SanDisk memory stick to save and backup my work on and also to transfer
work from my laptop to the school laptop.
I used a dell inspiron laptop at home and a rm tutor laptop at school.
