2. What is physical fitness?
• General state of health and well-being or specifically the ability to perform
aspects of sports. It’s achieved through correct nutrition, exercise,
hygiene, and rest.
• It is More than being able to run a long distance or lift a lot of weight at the
gym. Being fit is not defined only by what kind of activity you do, how long
you do it, or at what level of intensity.
• Fitness overall is broken down into 5 main components

• Cardiorespiratory endurance
• Muscular strength
• Muscular endurance
• Body composition
• flexibility
4. Cardiorespiratory endurance
• Keeping your heart rate at a increased level
for a length of time
• Examples:
• Walking, swimming, biking, running
• The activity you choose doesn’t have to be
tireless in order to improve your
cardiorespiratory endurance
5. Muscular strength
• The ability of the muscle to apply force during an activity. The key to
making your muscles stronger is making them fight against another force.
• Examples:
• Lifting weights and taking the stairs
6. Muscle endurance
• The ability of the muscle to continue to
perform without tiring.
• To improve your muscular endurance
try walking, jogging, bicycling, dancing,
or sit-ups.
7. Body composition
• Refers to the quantity of muscle, fat, bone,
and other vital parts of the body.
• Body composition is important to consider
for health and managing your weight.
8. flexibility
• Range of motion around a joint. In other words how far each joint can move.
• Examples:
• Lunges, stretching, Pilates, and yoga
• Following good exercise practices can also increase your range of flexibility
10. Importance of these components
• An effective fitness program includes all five components of physical
components, of which we went over. Once you’ve had all five of these physical
components measured you can make a list of the things you need to improve.
• For example:
• If you are weak in cardiovascular endurance you’ll need more aerobic training such
as jogging.
• These components are used in schools, gyms, and health clubs to measure your
level of physical fitness in order to determine how your body performs.
