  2. 2.  I can develop an exercise that specifically develops each component of health related fitness
  3. 3.  What is your current level of physical fitness?  How does your fitness level compare to others teens that age your gender and age?  Where to start?
  4. 4.  Physical fitness- Physical attributes that people have or achieve that relates to the ability to perform physical activity  Health- A state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease.
  5. 5.  Muscular Strength  Muscular Endurance  Cardiorespiratory Endurance  Flexibility  Body Composition
  6. 6.  The max amount of force a muscle can apply in one contraction.  1 contraction of muscles being used
  7. 7. Increase in resistance = Increase in strength Think of activities we perform inside the weight room and in the gym More weight less reps  Bench press  Squats  Push-ups  Sit ups  Lunges  Shoulder press
  8. 8.  Ability of the muscles to contract over an extended period of time.  Several contraction of muscles being used
  9. 9. Increase in repetitions = Increased endurance  Push ups  Sit ups  Squats  Bench press  Pull ups  lunges  Light weight  More repetitions
  10. 10.  The ability of the circulatory and respiratory systems to supply fuel and oxygen during sustained physical activity
  11. 11.  Should stay moving for an extended period of time  Low to moderate intensity for at least 30 minutes  Vigorous intensity with short breaks for 15 to 20 minutes  Jump rope  Swimming  Jogging  Running  Kick boxing  Walking at a brisk pace
  12. 12.  The ability of body parts to move in a full range of motion  To bend easily without breaking
  13. 13. Reduce injury Increase flexibility  Stretch before class  Stretch after class  About 5-7 minutes  Hamstring stretch  Arm circles  Quadriceps stretch  Calf raises  Leg lifts  Superman stretch
  14. 14.  The ratio of lean mass (muscle and bone) compared to fat mass.
  15. 15.  Balanced diet ◦ healthy nutrition plan ◦ Understanding how energy balance works ◦ Energy in = Energy out  Physical Activity ◦ 60 minutes a day ◦ Stay active stay healthy
  16. 16. 5 fitness components  Muscular strength  Muscular endurance  Cardiorespiratory endurance  Flexibility  Body Composition =Max amount of force =Max amount of reps =Heart and lungs =Full range of motion =Ratio of fat mass to lean mass
