These pages examine the results of climate change.
You will then answer questions in your reflective journal on
Irelands impact on climate change.

3. I shall need fifteen volunteers today to read a paragraph each .
Raise hands at the end of each paragraph. Take notes as we go.
(note) Precipitation: rain, snow, sleet or hail. If weather
worsens, storms can and do kill people.
(note) If temperatures rise, glaciers melt and sea levels rise. 1
million people live just one metre above sea level. Islands, like
Ireland, could be swallowed.
(note) Certain crops (maize and sorghum) depend on stable
weather. Changing temperatures can cause poverty and hunger.
When notes are finished, examine the images and explain what
you see on pages 148 and 149.

(note) Climate change increase the number and power of
natural disasters, including flooding.
(note) Changing temperatures affect insects and animals,
forcing them to move to new places. The spread of mosquitoes
has also spread malaria and death.

you see on pages 150 and 151.
