1. What I have learnt from software and programmes used to edit our
media product...
Editing Technologies
2. When editing our media product I learnt numberous skills on a range of
different programmes and software.
The following are some examples...
3. 1. Apple Mac's/Mac Books
A key element when editing our film were the Mac's.This was because
we had to constantly use them to add and structure our scene.Using
different software, designed only for Macs, which made it easier and
more efficient to produce a high quality piece.
I learnt how to use the computer/machine itself, as well as the
software and programmes installed on them, that I have never used
before.Ending up with large amount of skills when using this device,
which I can use and will benefit me in the further.
4. 2. Final Cut Pro
This programme was used to edit and construct our opening scene.I learnt
how to render, cut and filter and used it throughout my project to develop
my overall piece.Transitions were used, such as cross cut and fade, which I
learnt fairly quickly and therefore could use with ease when appropriate. I
also learnt how to import, export and write over the timeline footage into a
format appropriate to upload to YouTube and Blogger.
Although we did experience some issues with this programme, the main
problem occurred due to our footage not being saved a suitable location,
therefore some of our imported shots appeared unrendered or missing. This
was correctly shortly after though, with Holly and I saving all our work on a
SD memory card to ensure all work was together and orginsied
5. 3. Soundtrack Pro
As we had to include music in our opening scene, we used Soundtrack
Pro to help us edit our sound and music. We used two incidential tracks
downloaded from a copyright free website, 'FreePlayMusic.com'.They
both needed shortening and the volume needed to be adjusted.I
therefore learnt how to cut and change the pitch of tracks on this
programme.I also learnt how to import and export tracks, enabling us
to edit our music and import it onto our timeline in Final Cut Pro.
6. 4. LiveType
This programme was used to make our credits and title sequence in our
opening.I learnt how to change the typography, allinment and transition
on the titles.Enabling us export the sequence and import it into
FinalCut Pro after rendering. This helped to make our title sequence
efficent and appear professional, engaging our intended
auidence.Overall I found this programme easy to use and quick to
produce high quality, conventional titles.
