BCE (Canada) reports third quarter 2020 results
• BCE operating revenue decreased 2.6% to $5,787 million, compared to $5,940 million in Q3 2019, due to the ongoing impacts of
COVID-19, particularly on media advertising demand, wireless roaming volumes, and reduced or delayed spending by business
customers. This was comprised of 4.2% lower service revenue of $4,924 million, partly offset by an 8.0% increase in product revenue
to $863 million. Representing a significant improvement in performance over Q2 2020, these results reflected the resumption in
consumer and commercial activity with a gradual easing of COVID restrictions.
• Net earnings declined 19.7% to $740 million and net earnings attributable to common shareholders totalled $692 million, or $0.77
per share, down 20.2% and 19.8% respectively. The decreases were the result of lower adjusted EBITDA, higher other expense due
mainly to net mark-to-market losses on derivatives used to economically hedge equity settled share-based compensation and higher
depreciation and amortization.
• Adjusted net earnings were $712 million, or $0.79 per common share, down 12.3% and 13.2% respectively, compared to $812
million, or $0.91 per common share, in Q3 2019.
• Adjusted EBITDA decreased 4.4% to $2,454 million, reflecting declines of 4.4% at Bell Wireless, 1.6% at Bell Wireline and
21.2% at Bell Media.
• Total BCE capital expenditures increased 2.2% to $1,031 million for a capital intensity(5) ratio of 17.8%, compared to 17.0% in
Q3 last year. Capital spending in the quarter focused on continued expansion of our broadband fibre network, accelerated rollout of
Wireless Home Internet to more rural locations, the ongoing deployment of our mobile 5G network, and increased investment in online
fulfillment, customer self-serve and automation tools as well as improved app functionality.
• BCE cash flows from operating activities decreased 6.6% to $2,110 million, from $2,258 million last year, reflecting lower
adjusted EBITDA and higher income taxes paid (due to the deferral of corporate income tax installment payments from the first half of
this year as a result of government COVID relief measures), partly offset by higher cash from working capital due to the timing of
supplier payments.
• Free cash flow was down 11.5% to $1,034 million in Q3, from $1,169 million last year, due to lower cash flows from operating
activities, excluding cash from discontinued operations and acquisition and other costs paid, as well as higher capital expenditures.
Executive Commentary
"With a steadfast focus on our long-term strategy throughout the challenges of 2020, the Bell team continues to deliver the
benefits of next-generation network and service investment to our shareholders, customers and communities. In Q3, Bell's
innovation leadership drove operational and financial momentum across our business segments, while our infrastructure,
technology and community investments supported Canada's COVID response and ongoing recovery," said President and Chief
Executive Officer of BCE and Bell Canada. "Diligent execution by the Bell team in an improving economy, which included the
re-opening of retail sales and service for wireless, Internet and TV and the return of live sports programming supporting
advertising growth, resulted in significantly improved financial performance and broadband customer additions compared to Q2,
with Bell welcoming 210,000 net new retail Internet, IPTV and wireless customers."

Crown Castle (USA) Reports Third Quarter 2020 Results, Updates Full Year 2020 Outlook, Provides
Outlook for Full Year 2021 and Announces 11% Increase to Common Stock Dividend
Highlights from The Quarter
• Site rental revenues. Site rental revenues grew 4.0%, or $52 million, from third quarter 2019 to third quarter 2020,
inclusive of approximately $70 million in Organic Contribution to Site Rental Revenues and a $18 million decrease in
straight-lined revenues. The $70 million in Organic Contribution to Site Rental Revenues represents approximately
5.5% growth, comprised of approximately 9.1% growth from new leasing activity and contracted tenant escalations, net
of approximately 3.6% from tenant non-renewals.
• Net income. Net income for the third quarter 2020 was $163 million compared to $242 million during the third
quarter of 2019 and was impacted by the retirement of $2.4 billion of senior unsecured notes during July 2020, which
resulted in a $95 million loss on the retirement of long-term obligations.
• Capital Expenditures. Capital expenditures during the quarter were $377 million, comprised of $20 million of
sustaining capital expenditures and $357 million of discretionary capital expenditures. Discretionary capital
expenditures during the quarter primarily included approximately $274 million attributable to Fiber and approximately
$73 million attributable to Towers.
• Common stock dividend. During the quarter, Crown Castle paid common stock dividends of approximately $518
million in the aggregate, or $1.20 per common share, an increase of approximately 7% on a per share basis compared
to the same period a year ago.
• Financing Activity. In July, Crown Castle utilized net proceeds from a June 2020 senior unsecured notes offering
to retire an aggregate of $2.4 billion of senior unsecured notes. Also during the quarter, all outstanding shares of Crown
Castle's 6.875% Mandatory Convertible Preferred Stock were converted into approximately 14.5 million shares of
Crown Castle common stock. These conversions increased the diluted weighted average common shares outstanding
for 2020 by approximately 6 million shares and reduced the annual preferred stock dividends paid by approximately
$28 million when compared to full year 2019.
Executive Commentary
"We believe we can deliver on our long-term annual dividend growth target of 7% to 8% while at the same time
making investments in our business that will support future growth," stated Crown Castle's Chief Financial
Officer. "Looking to 2021, the portion of our small cell backlog we expect to put on air has a higher proportion of
collocation nodes relative to recent years, reducing the capital intensity in that business. Due to this reduced capital
intensity, combined with the completion of several large fiber expansion projects in 2020, we expect our
discretionary capital expenditures to be approximately $400 million lower in 2021 when compared to 2019 while
delivering AFFO per share growth above our long-term target. We anticipate the combination of lower capital
expenditures and higher cash flow growth will allow us to fund our discretionary capital budget next year with free
cash flow and incremental debt capacity, consistent with our Investment Grade credit profile."

Orange Romania has signed a deal to acquire a 54% controlling stake in fixed
operator Telekom Romania Communications
Orange Romania announces that it signed a deal to acquire a controlling 54% stake in
Telekom Romania Communications (“TKR”), in a transaction that will significantly
accelerate Orange’s strategy to become the preferred choice of customers for convergent
services in the Romanian market. Orange will pay a total of €268m, on a debt-free, cash-free
basis and subject to customary adjustments at closing, corresponding to a total enterprise
value of €497m, based on 100% of Telekom Romania Communications and the convergent
customer base. TKR is Romania’s second largest player in fixed telecoms with revenues of
€622m reported in 2019. Through its owned network infrastructure, TKR provides fixed
voice, broadband and pay-tv services to 5 million customers and its approximately 90,000
km fibre network connects some 3 million households. It also provides convergent services
to approximately 881 thousand fixed-mobile convergent subscribers, as at 30 June 2020
through an MVNO contract with Telekom Romania Mobile. These customers will migrate to
Orange Romania’s network, following the completion of the transaction. Orange Romania
reported €1.1Bn revenues in 2019 and is the number one mobile operator in Romania.
Thanks to this acquisition Orange will accelerate its convergent operator strategy which,
when combined with TKR’s fixed network, will create a fully infrastructure-based
convergent operator across B2C, B2B and ICT markets.
Executive Commentary
CEO, Orange commented: “This is a significant milestone for the Romanian telecom
market that will enhance its attractiveness both in terms of converged telecoms services
and high quality infrastructure, while increasing competition. It will provide the
opportunity to scale up innovative convergent services, bringing broader benefits and
wider choices to the customers and also to the country’s digital economy sustainable
development. Orange Romania’s and Telekom Romania Communications’ network
complementarity will allow us to bring together not only customers and teams, but also
the best of expertise in terms of quality of service and future-proof mobile and fixed
networks infrastructure.”

Thomson Reuters (Canada) Reports Third-Quarter 2020 Results
• Revenues increased 2% as growth in both recurring and transactions revenues was partly offset by a
decline in Global Print revenues and a negative impact from foreign currency that reduced revenues by $6
million (approximately 1%).
• Operating profit increased primarily due to lower costs and higher revenues. Lower costs reflected the
completion of the repositioning of the company in 2019 following the separation from the Financial & Risk
(F&R) business and lower expenses from the company’s COVID-19-related efforts to mitigate 2020 annual
costs by $100 million.
• Adjusted EBITDA, which excludes the impact of the warrant revaluation among other items,
increased 42%, primarily reflecting lower costs and higher revenues. The related margin increased to
34.0% from 24.4% in the prior-year period.
• Diluted EPS was $0.48 per share compared to a loss of $0.09 per share in the prior-year period,
primarily due to higher operating profit, lower losses from the company’s 45% equity interest in Refinitiv
and the recognition of non-cash tax benefits.
• Adjusted EPS, which excludes the company’s 45% equity interest in Refinitiv as well as other
adjustments, increased to $0.39 per share from $0.27 per share in the prior-year period, primarily due to
higher adjusted EBITDA.
• Cash flow from operations increased to $581 million from $264 million due to significantly higher
costs and investments in the prior-year period to reposition the company following the separation of F&R,
savings from the company’s COVID-19-related cost mitigation efforts and lower tax payments.
Executive Commentary
“I’m very pleased to report our markets and businesses continue to prove resilient in the face of a
challenging broader macro-environment. Our third-quarter results were above our expectations across
the group from the top line to the bottom line. Our customers are adapting to a new cadence in this
environment, and we continue to adapt to support them in their evolving ways of working,” said
President and CEO of Thomson Reuters. We exceeded each of the revenue guidance metrics
previously provided on a consolidated basis and for our Big 3 segments - Legal Professionals,
Corporates and Tax & Accounting Professionals. Based on our performance for the first nine months
of the year, I’m confident we will continue to effectively manage through this challenging
environment and build on this performance in 2021.And, our organization is now approaching an
exciting crossroads as we begin the transition from a holding company to an operating company. I
view the direction we are headed in as a logical progression for our organization as we seek to
continually strengthen our businesses, elevate our value proposition, enhance the customer experience
and maximize our performance, which I believe will present substantive opportunities to further fuel

Cross-Industry Investment by Seven Enterprises in New TradeWaltz®
Platform
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
31
Solution Description
Seven Japanese enterprises are pleased to announce that they have agreed to jointly invest in TradeWaltz Inc. (TradeWaltz), the company that manages the trade data sharing platform
that operated by the same name. Trading operations cover a wide range of products and involve numerous procedures, including documentation, consistency confirmations, and other
work that can be costly to perform manually. Furthermore, considering multiple parties engaged in a single transaction, developing a system accurately and safely to share information
has been a challenge faced by all industries.A cross-industrial consortium was established in August 2017 to address this challenge. With NTT DATA acting as its secretariat, the
consortium worked with various trading companies, banks, insurance companies, shipping companies, and other industry players to examine how digitalize technologies might be used
to make trading operations safer and more efficient. After tax reforms prompted a revision of Japan's law on the preservation of electronic tax records and other changes in 2020, the
Japanese government also began to actively encourage businesses to make the switch from paper to digital.Based on the results of its discussions among consortium members, NTT
DATA began developing the TradeWaltz® platform, which uses blockchain technology to connect trade-related information. Provided that this proves to be a practical system, it should
make it possible to digitalize and centrally manage all trading operations, cutting workloads by as much as 50%.Administration, development, and management of the platform is
handled by its namesake company TradeWaltz, which was founded in April of this year. The seven aforementioned enterprises that recently agreed to invest in TradeWaltz will be
working closely with one another to further develop the platform into a practical and commercially viable business. The first step will be a sequential rollout, whereby it is adopted
gradually for different processes with new functions added and other improvements made where necessary. In the future, the TradeWaltz platform can connect government agencies,
service providers, and other players both in Japan and abroad who are considering digitalization of documents. All seven investors are confident that its successful rollout can help to
promote the digitalization of trading operations, first in the ASEAN region and eventually throughout the world.

Safaricom (Kenya) Launches A Skiza Mobile Advertising Platform To
Support SMES Reach Their Customers

Solution Description
Safaricom has announced the launch of a new Skiza Advertising platform that aims to provide SMEs the opportunity to advertise their
services. The new tool is part of the company’s initiatives to support SMEs as they recover from the COVID-19 economic impact, especially
as customers limit their movement in line with heath guidelines.Customers will subscribe to the service by dialling *897# to enrol, upon which
they will hear adverts in place of the ringing tone as they wait for the customer they are calling to pick up. Enrolled customers will receive
free 5 MB data or free 1-minute calling time for every three adverts listened to for more than six seconds each.Customers will need to dial
*897# to view their accumulated resources and to either redeem them for data or minutes, both with no expiry. The accumulated minutes and
data are valid until first day of every month and once redeemed assume a no-expiry validity on the customer’s line. The short code equally
empowers a customer to opt-in and opt-out of the service at any time, with customers who unsubscribe keeping accumulated resources to the
first day of the following month. As the company marks its 20th Anniversary, it is increasingly pegging its future on SMEs by providing them
with tailored technology solutions to market and grow their businesses.Subsequently, the new service will drive customer retention by
providing a value-added service that supports customers with free data and minutes especially when they are unable to purchase airtime.

Toppan (Japan) Develops World’s First Aerial Touch Display to Generate
Images Parallel to the Panel
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
36
Solution Description
Toppan Printing, a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics has responded to the recent increase in demand for
contactless touch panels by developing an aerial touch display with a body that is 50% slimmer than conventional devices. The display can be operated when
hands are wet or covered by gloves, thus enabling use in medical and clean room settings. Sample shipments will be launched in December this year, with
full-scale mass production scheduled for 2022.Heightened demand for contactless touch panels is being seen as measures are taken to prevent the spread of
novel coronavirus infection. Until now, the use of devices that create floating images and detect the movement of users’ fingers with sensors has been limited
because the depth required by the structure can make installation in many locations difficult. Visibility problems have also been experienced with
conventional aerial touch displays. Visuals tend to be dark and blurry and ghost images appear due to light leaking in unintended directions as it travels
through the plate.Toppan has leveraged its expertise in optical and structural design for industrial-use high-definition LCDs to develop a space-saving, slim
aerial touch display with high-visibility that can be embedded into walls. It is the world’s first product of its kind to generate aerial images that are parallel
to the LCD panel. This contrasts with conventional designs displaying images at an angle of approximately 90 degrees.Testing by Toppan has shown that the
use of its high-transmission TFT display and optical design technologies produces a display that achieves a luminance roughly five times that of conventional
products and enables the generation of clear aerial images that are free of ghost images (related patents pending).

Toppan (Japan) Develops New Packaging for Frozen Storage of Food
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
37
Solution Description
Toppan Printing, a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics, has launched new eco-friendly packaging
that better retains the quality of meat, processed seafood, and other primary products kept in frozen storage for long periods of time. Primary
products, such as meat and processed seafood, are held in frozen storage warehouses because of the need for long-term storage. The quality of
products deteriorates slowly under such storage conditions. For this reason, little attention has been paid to developing specialty barrier film
packaging to better preserve frozen foods. Toppan’s new packaging uses GL BARRIER, a barrier film developed by leveraging original
vapor-deposition and coating technologies, to reduce oxidation and therefore prevent discoloration, loss of flavor, and changes in food texture for
a longer period than is possible with conventional packaging. These features reduce food loss and waste and facilitate expansion of distribution,
by preserving food quality in regions without suitable infrastructure for frozen distribution. The new packaging has improved environmental
performance and is available in a mono-material structure that has reduced CO2 emissions and superior recyclability. The package also allows
some food products conventionally subject to ultra-low-temperature frozen storage at -50°C or lower (F4) to be stored at higher temperatures of
-18°C. This change cuts storage costs by around 60%, also helping to lower CO2 emissions associated with power consumption for freezing.

Toppan (Japan) Launches Full-Scale Sales of PE and BOPP High Barrier
Films for Mono-Material Packaging
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
38
Solution Description
Toppan Printing a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics, has announced that subsidiary Toppan USA, Inc. (Toppan USA) has
completed preparations for the production and supply of polyethylene (PE) and biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) based additions to its market-leading series of GL
BARRIER transparent vapor-deposited barrier films. Full-scale sales of PE-based “GL-LE-G” and BOPP-based “GL-LP-G” will be launched in November, initially for the U.S.
and European markets. Toppan can now offer GL BARRIER films with polyethylene (PET), PE, and BOPP substrates to facilitate a full range of functional, mono-material
packaging. With growing attention on the problem of plastic waste, there is heightened demand for more eco-friendly packaging. Numerous global companies are taking
measures towards targets for better circulation of containers and packaging, and efforts to drive recycling by adopting mono-material structures are gaining pace around the
world. Schemes for the recovery and recycling of PE are starting to be seen in the U.S. and polypropylene (PP) is regarded as a recyclable material in Europe and other regions.
Toppan has responded to these trends by driving the shift to mono-material functional packaging. Samples of GL-LE-G and GL-LP-G have been made available to selected
customers around the world since late 2019 under the provisional names GL-X-LE and GL-X-LP-G, and extensive assessments have been conducted to confirm their
performance and market viability. With GL-LE-G, Toppan has employed its advanced processing technology to overcome the difficulty of vapor deposition on PE and create
the world’s first transparent vapor-deposited barrier film with a PE substrate. GL-LP-G, meanwhile, achieves the world’s highest level barrier performance for a BOPP film.
Both films demonstrate outstanding processability for printing and lamination with other materials, making them suitable for a wide range of purposes. Sales of GL-LE-G,
GL-LP-G, and GL-BP (a BOPP-based high barrier film for boiling water sterilization and hot filling) will be targeted at the food and toiletries sectors.

Verizon’s (USA) ‘Full Transparency’ launches blockchain verification for
news releases
For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com
41
Solution Description
Verizon announced the launch of Full Transparency by Verizon, a blockchain-based, open-source newsroom product designed to raise the bar
for corporate accountability. This initiative seeks to transform how the Verizon Corporate Newsroom publishes news releases by providing an
authoritative record of changes to public communications. A lack of transparency has the potential to undercut corporate credibility.
According to the 2020 Edelman Trust Barometer, nearly 60% of consumers globally believe that the media they consume is contaminated with
untrustworthy information. Transparency in news releases is an important step that a company—particularly a publicly traded one—can offer.
Full Transparency's goal is to change the way corporate newsrooms provide visibility to their readers and hold themselves accountable for
what they communicate to the public. Official news releases that incorporate Full Transparency are tracked on the blockchain ledger, so news
releases or statements can be treated as authoritatively reflecting what was intended to be released. All news releases published to the Verizon
Newsroom will be secured and bound using cryptographic principles, so that subsequent changes can be tracked and contextualized. The Full
Transparency initiative is an extension of Citizen Verizon, a responsible business plan that drives economic, environmental and social
advancement by promoting technology as a tool to improve communities, education and the workforce.

  • 7. Financial, M&A Updates IT Shades Engage & Enable BCE (Canada) reports third quarter 2020 results • BCE operating revenue decreased 2.6% to $5,787 million, compared to $5,940 million in Q3 2019, due to the ongoing impacts of COVID-19, particularly on media advertising demand, wireless roaming volumes, and reduced or delayed spending by business customers. This was comprised of 4.2% lower service revenue of $4,924 million, partly offset by an 8.0% increase in product revenue to $863 million. Representing a significant improvement in performance over Q2 2020, these results reflected the resumption in consumer and commercial activity with a gradual easing of COVID restrictions. • Net earnings declined 19.7% to $740 million and net earnings attributable to common shareholders totalled $692 million, or $0.77 per share, down 20.2% and 19.8% respectively. The decreases were the result of lower adjusted EBITDA, higher other expense due mainly to net mark-to-market losses on derivatives used to economically hedge equity settled share-based compensation and higher depreciation and amortization. • Adjusted net earnings were $712 million, or $0.79 per common share, down 12.3% and 13.2% respectively, compared to $812 million, or $0.91 per common share, in Q3 2019. • Adjusted EBITDA decreased 4.4% to $2,454 million, reflecting declines of 4.4% at Bell Wireless, 1.6% at Bell Wireline and 21.2% at Bell Media. • Total BCE capital expenditures increased 2.2% to $1,031 million for a capital intensity(5) ratio of 17.8%, compared to 17.0% in Q3 last year. Capital spending in the quarter focused on continued expansion of our broadband fibre network, accelerated rollout of Wireless Home Internet to more rural locations, the ongoing deployment of our mobile 5G network, and increased investment in online fulfillment, customer self-serve and automation tools as well as improved app functionality. • BCE cash flows from operating activities decreased 6.6% to $2,110 million, from $2,258 million last year, reflecting lower adjusted EBITDA and higher income taxes paid (due to the deferral of corporate income tax installment payments from the first half of this year as a result of government COVID relief measures), partly offset by higher cash from working capital due to the timing of supplier payments. • Free cash flow was down 11.5% to $1,034 million in Q3, from $1,169 million last year, due to lower cash flows from operating activities, excluding cash from discontinued operations and acquisition and other costs paid, as well as higher capital expenditures. Executive Commentary "With a steadfast focus on our long-term strategy throughout the challenges of 2020, the Bell team continues to deliver the benefits of next-generation network and service investment to our shareholders, customers and communities. In Q3, Bell's innovation leadership drove operational and financial momentum across our business segments, while our infrastructure, technology and community investments supported Canada's COVID response and ongoing recovery," said President and Chief Executive Officer of BCE and Bell Canada. "Diligent execution by the Bell team in an improving economy, which included the re-opening of retail sales and service for wireless, Internet and TV and the return of live sports programming supporting advertising growth, resulted in significantly improved financial performance and broadband customer additions compared to Q2, with Bell welcoming 210,000 net new retail Internet, IPTV and wireless customers." • 9. Financial, M&A Updates IT Shades Engage & Enable Crown Castle (USA) Reports Third Quarter 2020 Results, Updates Full Year 2020 Outlook, Provides Outlook for Full Year 2021 and Announces 11% Increase to Common Stock Dividend Highlights from The Quarter • Site rental revenues. Site rental revenues grew 4.0%, or $52 million, from third quarter 2019 to third quarter 2020, inclusive of approximately $70 million in Organic Contribution to Site Rental Revenues and a $18 million decrease in straight-lined revenues. The $70 million in Organic Contribution to Site Rental Revenues represents approximately 5.5% growth, comprised of approximately 9.1% growth from new leasing activity and contracted tenant escalations, net of approximately 3.6% from tenant non-renewals. • Net income. Net income for the third quarter 2020 was $163 million compared to $242 million during the third quarter of 2019 and was impacted by the retirement of $2.4 billion of senior unsecured notes during July 2020, which resulted in a $95 million loss on the retirement of long-term obligations. • Capital Expenditures. Capital expenditures during the quarter were $377 million, comprised of $20 million of sustaining capital expenditures and $357 million of discretionary capital expenditures. Discretionary capital expenditures during the quarter primarily included approximately $274 million attributable to Fiber and approximately $73 million attributable to Towers. • Common stock dividend. During the quarter, Crown Castle paid common stock dividends of approximately $518 million in the aggregate, or $1.20 per common share, an increase of approximately 7% on a per share basis compared to the same period a year ago. • Financing Activity. In July, Crown Castle utilized net proceeds from a June 2020 senior unsecured notes offering to retire an aggregate of $2.4 billion of senior unsecured notes. Also during the quarter, all outstanding shares of Crown Castle's 6.875% Mandatory Convertible Preferred Stock were converted into approximately 14.5 million shares of Crown Castle common stock. These conversions increased the diluted weighted average common shares outstanding for 2020 by approximately 6 million shares and reduced the annual preferred stock dividends paid by approximately $28 million when compared to full year 2019. Executive Commentary "We believe we can deliver on our long-term annual dividend growth target of 7% to 8% while at the same time making investments in our business that will support future growth," stated Crown Castle's Chief Financial Officer. "Looking to 2021, the portion of our small cell backlog we expect to put on air has a higher proportion of collocation nodes relative to recent years, reducing the capital intensity in that business. Due to this reduced capital intensity, combined with the completion of several large fiber expansion projects in 2020, we expect our discretionary capital expenditures to be approximately $400 million lower in 2021 when compared to 2019 while delivering AFFO per share growth above our long-term target. We anticipate the combination of lower capital expenditures and higher cash flow growth will allow us to fund our discretionary capital budget next year with free cash flow and incremental debt capacity, consistent with our Investment Grade credit profile." Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nib Solution Updates IT Shades Engage & Enable Cross-Industry Investment by Seven Enterprises in New TradeWaltz® Platform For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com 31 Solution Description Seven Japanese enterprises are pleased to announce that they have agreed to jointly invest in TradeWaltz Inc. (TradeWaltz), the company that manages the trade data sharing platform that operated by the same name. Trading operations cover a wide range of products and involve numerous procedures, including documentation, consistency confirmations, and other work that can be costly to perform manually. Furthermore, considering multiple parties engaged in a single transaction, developing a system accurately and safely to share information has been a challenge faced by all industries.A cross-industrial consortium was established in August 2017 to address this challenge. With NTT DATA acting as its secretariat, the consortium worked with various trading companies, banks, insurance companies, shipping companies, and other industry players to examine how digitalize technologies might be used to make trading operations safer and more efficient. After tax reforms prompted a revision of Japan's law on the preservation of electronic tax records and other changes in 2020, the Japanese government also began to actively encourage businesses to make the switch from paper to digital.Based on the results of its discussions among consortium members, NTT DATA began developing the TradeWaltz® platform, which uses blockchain technology to connect trade-related information. Provided that this proves to be a practical system, it should make it possible to digitalize and centrally manage all trading operations, cutting workloads by as much as 50%.Administration, development, and management of the platform is handled by its namesake company TradeWaltz, which was founded in April of this year. The seven aforementioned enterprises that recently agreed to invest in TradeWaltz will be working closely with one another to further develop the platform into a practical and commercially viable business. The first step will be a sequential rollout, whereby it is adopted gradually for different processes with new functions added and other improvements made where necessary. In the future, the TradeWaltz platform can connect government agencies, service providers, and other players both in Japan and abroad who are considering digitalization of documents. All seven investors are confident that its successful rollout can help to promote the digitalization of trading operations, first in the ASEAN region and eventually throughout the world.

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nib Solution Updates IT Shades Engage & Enable Toppan (Japan) Develops World’s First Aerial Touch Display to Generate Images Parallel to the Panel For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com 36 Solution Description Toppan Printing, a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics has responded to the recent increase in demand for contactless touch panels by developing an aerial touch display with a body that is 50% slimmer than conventional devices. The display can be operated when hands are wet or covered by gloves, thus enabling use in medical and clean room settings. Sample shipments will be launched in December this year, with full-scale mass production scheduled for 2022.Heightened demand for contactless touch panels is being seen as measures are taken to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus infection. Until now, the use of devices that create floating images and detect the movement of users’ fingers with sensors has been limited because the depth required by the structure can make installation in many locations difficult. Visibility problems have also been experienced with conventional aerial touch displays. Visuals tend to be dark and blurry and ghost images appear due to light leaking in unintended directions as it travels through the plate.Toppan has leveraged its expertise in optical and structural design for industrial-use high-definition LCDs to develop a space-saving, slim aerial touch display with high-visibility that can be embedded into walls. It is the world’s first product of its kind to generate aerial images that are parallel to the LCD panel. This contrasts with conventional designs displaying images at an angle of approximately 90 degrees.Testing by Toppan has shown that the use of its high-transmission TFT display and optical design technologies produces a display that achieves a luminance roughly five times that of conventional products and enables the generation of clear aerial images that are free of ghost images (related patents pending).

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit, sed diam nonummy nib Solution Updates IT Shades Engage & Enable Toppan (Japan) Develops New Packaging for Frozen Storage of Food For any queries, Please write to marketing@itshades.com 37 Solution Description Toppan Printing, a global leader in communication, security, packaging, décor materials, and electronics, has launched new eco-friendly packaging that better retains the quality of meat, processed seafood, and other primary products kept in frozen storage for long periods of time. Primary products, such as meat and processed seafood, are held in frozen storage warehouses because of the need for long-term storage. The quality of products deteriorates slowly under such storage conditions. For this reason, little attention has been paid to developing specialty barrier film packaging to better preserve frozen foods. Toppan’s new packaging uses GL BARRIER, a barrier film developed by leveraging original vapor-deposition and coating technologies, to reduce oxidation and therefore prevent discoloration, loss of flavor, and changes in food texture for a longer period than is possible with conventional packaging. These features reduce food loss and waste and facilitate expansion of distribution, by preserving food quality in regions without suitable infrastructure for frozen distribution. The new packaging has improved environmental performance and is available in a mono-material structure that has reduced CO2 emissions and superior recyclability. The package also allows some food products conventionally subject to ultra-low-temperature frozen storage at -50°C or lower (F4) to be stored at higher temperatures of -18°C. This change cuts storage costs by around 60%, also helping to lower CO2 emissions associated with power consumption for freezing.

(Toppan USA) has completed preparations for the production and supply of polyethylene (PE) and biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) based additions to its market-leading series of GL BARRIER transparent vapor-deposited barrier films. Full-scale sales of PE-based “GL-LE-G” and BOPP-based “GL-LP-G” will be launched in November, initially for the U.S. and European markets. Toppan can now offer GL BARRIER films with polyethylene (PET), PE, and BOPP substrates to facilitate a full range of functional, mono-material packaging. With growing attention on the problem of plastic waste, there is heightened demand for more eco-friendly packaging. Numerous global companies are taking measures towards targets for better circulation of containers and packaging, and efforts to drive recycling by adopting mono-material structures are gaining pace around the world. Schemes for the recovery and recycling of PE are starting to be seen in the U.S. and polypropylene (PP) is regarded as a recyclable material in Europe and other regions. Toppan has responded to these trends by driving the shift to mono-material functional packaging. Samples of GL-LE-G and GL-LP-G have been made available to selected customers around the world since late 2019 under the provisional names GL-X-LE and GL-X-LP-G, and extensive assessments have been conducted to confirm their performance and market viability. With GL-LE-G, Toppan has employed its advanced processing technology to overcome the difficulty of vapor deposition on PE and create the world’s first transparent vapor-deposited barrier film with a PE substrate. GL-LP-G, meanwhile, achieves the world’s highest level barrier performance for a BOPP film. Both films demonstrate outstanding processability for printing and lamination with other materials, making them suitable for a wide range of purposes. Sales of GL-LE-G, GL-LP-G, and GL-BP (a BOPP-based high barrier film for boiling water sterilization and hot filling) will be targeted at the food and toiletries sectors.

This initiative seeks to transform how the Verizon Corporate Newsroom publishes news releases by providing an authoritative record of changes to public communications. A lack of transparency has the potential to undercut corporate credibility. According to the 2020 Edelman Trust Barometer, nearly 60% of consumers globally believe that the media they consume is contaminated with untrustworthy information. Transparency in news releases is an important step that a company—particularly a publicly traded one—can offer. Full Transparency's goal is to change the way corporate newsrooms provide visibility to their readers and hold themselves accountable for what they communicate to the public. Official news releases that incorporate Full Transparency are tracked on the blockchain ledger, so news releases or statements can be treated as authoritatively reflecting what was intended to be released. All news releases published to the Verizon Newsroom will be secured and bound using cryptographic principles, so that subsequent changes can be tracked and contextualized. The Full Transparency initiative is an extension of Citizen Verizon, a responsible business plan that drives economic, environmental and social advancement by promoting technology as a tool to improve communities, education and the workforce.
