2. SITUATION
It’s placed in Ribadesella, a beautiful
village in the north of Asturias, Spain.
It is next to Ribadesella’s beach and it
has got nice sights. It’s placed at
Dionisio Ruisánchez Street.
3. HISTORY
Dionisio Ruisánchez died in La Habana in
1956. At his testament he founded a
benefic organization called “Ruisanchez
Foundation”. One of the objetives of
this foundation was the creation of an
educational institution in Ribadesella.
The school was inaugurated in 1967. And
in 1991 the new school was inaugurated
under the name of Avelina Cerra,
Dionisio’s wife.

5. TRANSPORT
• Avelina Cerra High School has got a
transport system. It’s covered by the
company Elier Buses. There are six
buses that drive the students to their
villages.

Avelina Cerra High School is a small
school. It only has got about 300
students. Here appear the teachers and

7. PICTURES
In all the building, there are many
pictures. They were painted by the
students of the High School. Almost all
of them are pop art pictures.
Mona Cat, by Romero Britto, is one of
the pictures of our High School.
8. EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM
• In the Avelina Cerra High School, there
are students from 1st ESO to 2nd
Bachillerato. Each level has got their
own subjects. Usually, each department
teaches more than one subject.
• At Avelina Cerra High School you can
study four types of Bachillerato
directed to your future studies:
sciences of health, technology,
humanities and social sciences.
9. TIMETABLE
• From Mondays to Fridays, the school is
opened from 8:05 am to 20:30 pm. The
lessons start at 8:05 and finish at
14:05. In the afternoons there are
activities as the Accompaniment
Program or the library.

10. EXTRA-CURRICULAR
ACTIVITIES
The most important activities of the
High School and common for all the
levels are the Christmas Festival, the
Cultural Days and the End of the Course
Festival. In 4th of ESO we have the
Study Trip to Italy, which will be in
June.
