• Competiveness of green enterprises and innovative technologies are instrumental in
moving towards a greener economy
• Investments in green innovation can strengthen economic growth and inspire
environmental management and production
• EU's growth strategy, “EU 2020”, emphasises the need for greener and more innovative
economies
• Eco-innovation is an important part of EU’s environmental policy
• EU's Environmental Technologies Action Plan (ETAP) is key
• The Norwegian government has established an Environmental Technologies Package of
NOK 500 million over 3 years (2011-13)
• Climate and Pollution Agency is an active partner in the Government's Environmental
Technologies Strategy and a member of the Advisory Council for the Strategy

3. Polish – Norwegian Cooperation
Cooperation project under EEA and Norway Financial Mechanisms 2004-09: Improving the
efficiency of Polish Environmental Inspection based on Norwegian experiences
(GIOŚ and Klif)
• A new risk based and more effective inspection system in Poland for control and
enforcement of environmental legislation
• Partners have mutually experienced more knowledge and inspiration in their jobs
• Under EEA Grants 2009 – 14 the cooperation project with GIOŚ will continue
