Deep overbites can be effectively treated with preadjusted appliances by following several principles: using smaller archwires initially, incorporating anterior bite plates in moderate to low angle cases, and using light initial forces to avoid worsening the deep bite. Banding or bracketing the second molars early and selectively using Class II elastics can also help open the bite in moderate to low angle cases. It is important to not hurry final leveling of the arches and to use gentle forces during space closure in extraction cases to prevent worsening the deep bite.
