1. Delhi University North Campus and South Campus
The University of Delhi, also known as DU and Delhi University is a public university, wholly
funded by The Government of India. It was first established in the year 1922. At that time it had
only three colleges and students as few as 750. But today, in addition to a sprawling green
campus that is spread across a massive area of 69 acres, it has 16 faculties, 86 academic
departments, 77 colleges and 5 other recognized institutes spread all over the city of Delhi.
Due to the massive size of the University, it was soon classified into two campuses – the North
Campus in the Kamla Nagar area and the South Campus in the Dhaula Kuan area. Both
campuses offer graduate as well as post graduate courses of study in various fields ranging
from business studies to science to fine arts. The South Campus is famous for the Bio
Technology center and the Plant Molecular Biology department. The North Campus is known
for its Arts and Law colleges. Both campuses also boast of research institutes that have
contributed a lot over the years to their respective fields of study.
Competition for admission into the colleges on
both campuses is very fierce. The toughest
competition is perhaps seen by the Arts and
Commerce colleges in the North Campus that
offer admissions purely on merit basis. Millions
of students from across the country apply for a
handful seats. Students wait with impatiently
for the results to be declared every year and
eve for the waiting lists that are released after
the merit lists.
The mode of study in the colleges of the
University is very structured and special
attention is paid towards developing all the skills of the students. The professors and faculty
aim at imparting not just bookish knowledge but also world knowledge that will benefit the
students in the long run. The efforts that are put in by the faculty and the students can be seen
when the Delhi University exam results are declared. Lately, the colleges in the south campus
that offer under graduate courses like B.A and B.Com as well as B.Sc were declared. The
students performed very well and cleared the exams with flying colours. The North campus
colleges too declared their results recently and the performance by the students was
phenomenal.
