2. Locations.
0 We are planning to film our opening scene in 2 main
locations. Our first location needs to be inside and
preferably with a Corridor that leads in to a bedroom.
Our second location is going to be outside on a fairly
long street. For these reasons, we have chosen firstly
to film in East Farndon for the inside shots. Secondly,
we have decided to film outside parts in Rugby.
4. Order/Plot
Our ‘Bold Eye Production’ splash will be shown first, followed by the title’s on a
plain black background (like 3 out of my 4 deconstructions). So far, there will
be no music as we want our titles to be the focus.
The camera will then use a tracking shot to travel down a creepy, corridor in
darkness and end up in the characters bedroom, it is at this point that we
will add some sound to build up the tension. As a group, we decided to use a
zooming shot because nearly all of our deconstructions favoured it in order
to create an eerie, unnerving effect on the audience.
Next, the camera will dramatically, suddenly switch to other symbolic shots, for
instance, a regular ticking clock to symbolise the passing off time. The
camera will continuously flick between puzzling, unclear shots leading to
confusion. I found out from my deconstructions that all of the opening 2
minutes I studied, were disorientating to the audience in some way; this is
why we’ve decided to stick with this theme. We especially wanted our
character to be alone in this opening sequence as this reoccurred throughout
our opening deconstructions and it allowed the audience to focus purely on
what that specific character is experiencing. Then, we will show the
character running, we will not make clear what the character is running from
as it is psychological and it may, in fact, be nothing!
