7. Colour Correction
Is the process of improving the appearance of your
footage through altering the hue (colour), saturation
and exposure levels of an image.
We colour correct for a variety of reasons:
1. To fix white (or colour) balance problems we’ve had during filming.
2. To fix exposure problems with our footage
3. To match the colour balance of different shots.
4. To give our video a unique, stylistic look through the use of colour.
12. Many films shoot
‘flat’ (or LOG)
• This is when the camera is
setup to film in low contrast.
• This makes it easier to do a
greater degree of colour
correction in editing, as you
have a greater range of
shadows and less under-
exposure.
