 Strong competition 
 Efforts to achieve monopolization of the 
field 
 Government regulatory actions 
 Costly investment in new technologies
They need a variety of good films that will attract to a 
large target audience, not just blockbusters. There has 
also been significant development from the first 
multiplex cinema in 1985, this rise in multiplex cinemas 
would attract to the audience because many benefits 
come with it. it massively improves viewing 
experiences because of the bigger screens, more leg 
room and space, and you are able to see the film well 
from wherever you sit. However blockbuster films are 
extremely popular in cinema’s and people will always 
come back to watch the sequels for example 
Transformers and Shrek 3.

• Quality of the cinema 
• Access to the cinema in regard to parking 
• Cost of the tickets e.g. different companies have different prices 
• When the films are showing 
• Any film related events 
• Whether there are other facilities (e.g. coffee shops, bars) near by 
•The cinema brand. However, 75% of people polled in 2007 left the cinema 
not knowing the name of it. Does this mean brand image isn't important?
Digital exhibition is important for the UK film 
industry because it means that non 
mainstream films are becoming more 
accessible. 
Independent cinemas have the capability to 
screen more films because digital distribution 
and exhibition is cheaper than traditional 
methods.
 The UK film council wants to make films more accessible 
 Improving access – our digital screen network is made up of 240 
digital screens across the UK that now show non- mainstream 
films regularly 
 Raising awareness – our prints and advertising fund provides £4 
million every year to help British distributers promote non 
mainstream films 
 Increasing information – our website is one of the UK’s leading 
websites for film fans looking to watch. Buy, download or rent 
great films 
 Piracy is big problem as this is stopping production companies 
from getting the money they deserve from producing these films.
 A multiplex is a movie theatre complex 
with multiple exciting screens, typically 
more than one screen within a single 
complex. 
 They're usually houses in a specially 
designed building. 
 The largest of these complexes can sit 
thousands of people and are sometimes 
referred to as a megaplex.
 Location and number of screens are key 
for their movies success especially what 
they show on their screens.

  • 3.  The exhibition of film primarily involves the ownership, management and operation of cinemas.  What the exhibitor sells is the experience of a film and concessions e.g. Food and drink  Exhibitors have influence over the box office success and the reception of films

  • 7. They need a variety of good films that will attract to a large target audience, not just blockbusters. There has also been significant development from the first multiplex cinema in 1985, this rise in multiplex cinemas would attract to the audience because many benefits come with it. it massively improves viewing experiences because of the bigger screens, more leg room and space, and you are able to see the film well from wherever you sit. However blockbuster films are extremely popular in cinema’s and people will always come back to watch the sequels for example Transformers and Shrek 3.

However, 75% of people polled in 2007 left the cinema not knowing the name of it. Does this mean brand image isn't important?

  • 11. Digital exhibition is important for the UK film industry because it means that non mainstream films are becoming more accessible. Independent cinemas have the capability to screen more films because digital distribution and exhibition is cheaper than traditional methods.

Buy, download or rent great films  Piracy is big problem as this is stopping production companies from getting the money they deserve from producing these films.
