Satire Essay On Aliens
Stock up on tinfoil hats, laser guns, refried beans and anything else one might want for a Martian invasion. This month, Mars will be closer to Earth
than it's been in a decade. This could very well be the aliens best opportunity for an invasion. Let's hope they come in peace.
MARS QUICKLY APPROACHINGEARTH
On May 30th, keep your eyes on the sky. Mars will appear in a way that it hasn't in over a decade. NASA states that the red planet will be about 46.8
million miles away from Earth. That may seem like a great distance for average joes like you in me, but to aliens, it's a mere step away. The reason for
the close passing is due to the two planets egg–like orbits. Minimum distance between the two doesn't stay the same for this reason meaning that
gravitational pull from the planets is constantly changing. Time to time, they will drift ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We may even be able to see it. Mars will be visible to the naked eye making for some optimal skywatching that only occurs once every 15 years.
Once the clock strikes midnight, the red planet will be at its highest point. Midnight seems like the perfect time for aliens to make their move. Seeing
as they missed out on their last opportunity in 2003, perhaps they will be striking will full force this time around.
NASA KNOWS SOMETHING
All this could very well be a mindless alien conspiracy, but NASA has been up to some fishy business up on Mars. The curiosity rover is apparently
up there to study the planet's surface, take a few scenic photos and get on out of there, but after reports of an alien humanoid sighting, NASA might
just be up to something. If there are aliens already on the red planet, why would NASA hide them from us? Perhaps they don't offer any real threat to
Earth. One can suppose we will find out soon when Earth comes closer to Mars in the coming weeks. Get Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones

What Is The Theme Of The Executioner's Song
DIGGING INTO THE EXECUTIONER'S STORIES A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE NOVEL AND THE MOVIE: THE EXECUTIONER'S
SONG INTRODUCTION The Executioner's Song is a story of a rather eccentric man – Gary Gilmore; and the events in between his phase of being
released from the prison and being executed. The story begins with the reunion of Gary and Brenda, who are cousins. Gary gets another chance to
work and improve his life. While he begins well at the professional level, he fails at his many attempts in the dating scene. He then meets Nicole, with
whom in the rest of the novel he shares a tumultuous relationship with. Given his obessesion with Nicole, Gary gets back to his old bad ways. This
same obession turns into a rage and Gary subsequently starts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While a mob continues protesting against capital punishment, Gary pretends to be escaping from the jail. On the day of the execution, Gary bids
farewell smilingly. As Gary walks in sleeveless tee and pants, he listens to "Too many times" on the radio– which almost reflects his life. Sitting in the
executioner's chair, Gary laughs, while the rest stand in a pensive state. Looking at the ceiling, Gary gulps down fear and pronounces, "Let's do it." A
reading from the Bible follows, thus leading to the execution. The movie end with an epilogue describing the future of each character, with Defying
Gravity, playing in the background. MAILER VS. SCHILLER – DIFFERENCES IN THE BOOK AND MOVIE Throughout the movie, Gilmore is
clean–shaven. But in the novel, Gilmore alternates between stubble, a Vandyke beard and clean–shaven look. While Gilmore's eyes have been decribed
as blue in the novel, GIlmore's eyes are brown in the movie. In the book, Gilmore murdered Jensen in a bathroom with green tiles and tan paited
walls. But in the film the bathroom has brown tiles on the floor, and white tiles all over. While Jensen was shot tice in the head, in the novel, the movie
it is not very clear where Jensen was shot. Jensen would have bled, but Gary came out unstained from the bathroom. In the book, Gary consumed
Fiorinol. In the movie, there is no such mention. In the movie there is no mention of Gary donating his

Courtroom Participants' Professional Standards
Courtroom Participants' professional Standards Willie L Jones CJA/224 01–07–2013 University of Phoenix Abstract Prosecutorial misconduct is

Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men Essay
Ignorant souls will probably tell you that No Country for Old Men is a film of thirst for blood, material wealth and a sheriff's investigation. Those
that suggest this, however, are the same that tune in weekly for their dose of Big Brother: The Evictions and are swayed by the words of their local
car salesman. The Coen brothers' masterful 2005 adaption of Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men is a standout in recent cinema history,
pushing aside this year's spit–out of Transformers from explosion–junkie Michael Bay. Taking a different approach from their usual quirky, humour
films littered with three word profanities (cue: Burn after Reading Osbourne Cox fans), the Coen's have successfully stepped into a dark, deeply
disquieting drama ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the relentlessly vindictive manner of McCarthy's novel, Bell delivers a welcomed voice of sanity and justice to the human mind; his old–school
morals and philosophical reminiscences offering a sanction in a world dominated by evil. But it is Vietnam Vet, Llewellyn Moss, who levels best with
the audience. Playing the wild card of the three, Brolin delivers a human centre to the film; the man most identifiable with, even as the odds steepen
against him.
As the minutes fly by, unnerving notions about the determined yet futile attempts of humankind to guide their obdurate fate – that serves as an
unwelcome side–dish to the sachet – becomes increasingly clear. The dominant hunter of the film, characterised by an out–of–place Mod beetle–cut, is
the epitome of the Coens' ability to point to biblical themes. Bardem plays the overpowering force that pervades the audience even when off–camera –
his malevolent presence is constantly felt and the aftermath of his actions are unpardonably viewable. If the pneumatic hiss of Chigurh's killing device
isn't enough to suggest his vindictive nature, then his sadistic taunting of his prey as he tightens his grip on their fate undoubtedly solidifies his role as
the modern incarnation of the devil. This "living prophet of destruction" is watched from afar by disillusioned sheriff, Ed Tom Bell, who struggles to
accept his damned world for the crumbling mess it has become. Bell,

Pointless Violence in the Movie (Film), Natural Born Killers
Pointless Violence in the Movie (Film), Natural Born Killers
Daily, the public is bombarded with violence, not only on television, but also in other media, such as newspapers and tabloids. Natural Born Killers,
a prime example of violence in the media, is a movie about two lovers, Mickey and Mallory Knox, who go on a killing spree across the Southwest.
The movie takes a satirical look at how the media romanticizes violent crimes. Natural Born Killers has sparked a lot of controversy, as seen in the
opposing views of Richard Corliss and Richard A. Blake.
According to Time magazine's Richard Corliss, Natural Born Killers is "the ideal recipe for a Stone–crazy parable of greed and abuse." Corliss
describes with great enthusiasm the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand, Richard A. Blake's review of Natural Born Killers is entirely negative. He describes the two main characters, Mickey and Mallory, as
"Bonnie and Clyde" and "celebrities of gore"; Robert Downey, Jr., as an "Australian version of Geraldo," who works for a low class television
program; Tom Sizemore as a "sadist cop"; and Tommy Lee Jones as an equally dense warden." He believes that the "special effects, explosions with
bursting fire–balls, and mutilated bodies distract from the moronic scripting" of the film. Unlike Richard Corliss, he believes that Natural Born
Killers gives society a mixed message, and that Oliver Stone's efforts in "exploring the connection between violence and the media" backfired because
the movie itself has only added to the problem. Blake goes on the to say, "Stone's visual experimentation is ultimately pointless" and that Natural Born
Killers is a "brutal, violent film that assaults the senses" (22–23).
Having read both reviews of Natural Born Killers and seen the movie, my

Jason Hoalore Greengrass
Like many action movie fans growing up in the last decade or so, I'm a fan of the "Bourne" franchise. I don't love it as much as some people, though
"The Bourne Ultimatum" is great, but I was still excited by the prospect of Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon reteaming for another entry in the series.
(Especially after the underwhelming "The Bourne Legacy.") While I did like the director and actor combo's return to the series, it was easily my least
favorite entry besides that 2012 disappointment.
This time around, Jason Bourne (Damon) has been off the grid for years. He's making ends meet by doing some street fighting that's taking its toll on
him. He gets sucked back in to the world of government cover ups and espionage, however, Nick Parsons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The issue here is twofold. First, the writing never convinces audiences that Bourne's motivations are legitimate. I, nor the friends I saw it with, never
bought that Bourne would return to this world for the reason he did. He already knows what happened to him, and though his reason is plausible, it's
something that pales in comparison to what he already knows and the benefits of staying in hiding. Thus, the whole narrative is built on a faulty
foundation.
The second problem is the movie is too generic, especially for a franchise that, in its original trilogy, eschewed convention. The film follows a lot of the
same beats, with the diabolical government higher–up and Bourne's inevitable confrontation with him feeling stale. Even the action scenes feel
recycled in a way, as its more of Bourne moving through crowds effectively. Even the best set piece in the film, the Athens scene, suffers from this, as
Bourne driving around on the stairs feels too much like a similar moment from "The Bourne Identity."
Despite all these flaws, I still had a good time with "Jason Bourne." Damon owns the role, the supporting cast gets the job done and the score is good
(I can't overstate how awesome that music at the end is). Due to the terrible directing and troubled script, "Jason Bourne" isn't as polished on
entertaining as its Damon–led predecessors, but it's still an enjoyable action

No Country For Old Men
Adapted from the 2005 novel of the same name written by Cormac McCarthy; No Country for Old Men (2007) is a neo–western thriller film, directed
by Joel and Ethan Coen and produced by Scott Rudin. The unceasingly intense cat–and–mouse narrative follows Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee
Jones), Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) and Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) through the desolate terrain of the West Texas border country in 1980.
The film opens with a soft, warming voiceover: "I was sheriff of this county when I was 25 years old. Hard to believe. My grandfather was a
lawman; father too." Ed Tom begins to talk about how times have changed. "Some of the old time sheriffs never even wore a gun. A lotta folks find
that hard to believe. "Can't help but wonder how they would have operated these times." As a proud lawman; Sheriff Ed Tom is fed up by how brutal
criminals have become and society's inability to control them. He is in fact, a representation of the old men that modern–day America is not a country

Analysis Of No Country For Old Men
But that aside, McCarthy's No Country for Old Men is a rigid, gripping thriller, one that pressures its drama by regulating it, giving events in an
upfront, discreet, arranged way that builds up way more impact than, say, Dan Brown's exaggerated attempts to build tension by screeching at the
reader that it's time to be enthusiastic. The Coen brothers' screen version can't help but be more dynamic than McCarthy's novel; even though they
maintain the book's cool tone by having the characters rarely raise their voices or even play with outward emotion, just the intensity of their stares
gives the story an immediate urgency beyond the book's. Instead, the book is sort of heavy, as though every event follows callously from the one before.
The Coen's, by contrast, have a distinctive but more malleable style; they tend toward heightened narrative whether they're doing noir or comedy, but
their tendency to play explore styles and genres makes it harder to recognize their authorial stamp, except that the vast majority of their movies are
terrific. No Country for Old Men is no exception. It's a bracing thriller, a game going back and forth involving a lot of extra actors running around
complicating the story and throwing out stylized, entertaining, and frequently strange performances. It's also almost terribly funny. The characters stay
straight–faced and rarely bat an eye no matter what they run up against; they express tension, misery, anger and frustration alike by just getting a

Oscar Facts
If you watched the Oscar awards the other night, you probably noticed a few key points. Leo finally won and award, Tommy Lee Jones has no sense
of humor and something about Mad Max doing something. What may have slipped under your advanced radar was Sam Smith. Who are you ask?
Well, he is an important figure not only to artists everywhere but to the LGBT community. To get you started, here are five facts.
1. SAM SMITH WAS THE FIRST OPENLYGAYMAN TO WIN AN OSCAR
This is the main reason he has gathered so much attention lately. Despite a lot of criticism but skeptics, Sam claims that he is the first to win the
award after hearing Ian McKellan say that no openly gay man won an oscar. He went on to dedicate the award to the LGBT community.... Show more

Way back in 1994, you may remember a little movie called The Lion King. Well, Elton John wrote a badass number called Can You Feel the Love
Tonight. Well, the world did feel the love that night and Elton John went home a happy, gay, Oscar
–winning man. Sorry Sam Smith, try as you might,
you can't beat the King.
4. A GAY MAN WROTE THE LATEST JAMES BOND SONG
Yes, it was Sam Smith who won the award for the theme to James Bond's latest flick Specter. For those who are unaware, James Bond is perhaps the
opposite of Sam Smit and the LGBT community. For a womanizer who represents such masculine behaviors, it's fairly comical that a gay man wrote
the theme. This just further proves the equality that gay men deserve. In fact, I'm probably doing them a disservice by even making a big deal of the
irony. My apologies.
5. SAM SMITH GAVE THE LGBT COMMUNITY THE PRESS IT NEEDS
Any press is good press they say, and Sam Smith delivered. What he did for the community was raise awareness. Much like the African–American
community did for Oscars, Smith brought inequality to light in the entertainment industry. It's long overdue that either of these communities get the
respect they deserved. This year Oscars seemed like a positive turning point in the strive for an equal

John Lennon (10/9/40–12/8/80), led the Beatles as the lead singer and songwriter. Also writing the songs for the Beatles was Paul McCartney (6/18/42–

In 1962, Ringo Starr (7/7/40–present) became the drummer for the band. They were now known as The Beatles, (the Fab Four).
Their first song "Love Me Do" was recorded in 1962, after Ringo joined the band. In 1964, the Beatles 'invaded' the United States, by bringing their
music here and driving the crowds wild. The Beatles bridged the generation gap and language barriers. They were trend setters, with their style of dress
and hair changing the face of the young people. They also influenced the use of hallucinogenic drugs, Indian music, and Eastern mysticism.
The Beatles last concert was in San Francisco in 1966. The band broke up in 1970. Lennon went on to record solo albums and with his wife, Yoko Ono.
McCartney went on to form Paul McCartney and Wings, with his wife, Linda.
Harrison and Starr also went on to do solo albums. Ringo also starred in some films. Rumors of a reunion were believed until the murder of John

Every child wants his or her father's love. In April Morning, Adam Cooper (Chad Lowe) does not feel cherished from his father. In fact Adam feels
that his father hates him, and would not care less if he did not exist. While this of course is not true, Adam strives to earn respect from his father Moses
Cooper (Tommy Lee Jones) throughout the movie. This strife allows Adam to defend Lexington effectively. April Morning shows the values of striving
to live up to the expectations of one's parents, is entertaining, and is mostly historically accurate. The movie begins with Solomon Chandler (Rip Torn)
riding across the road on a cart. British soldiers stop the cart and inspect the cargo. As they inspected, they found stolen weapons and ammunition....

He soon regrets it and in the evening, after he almost loses his life, decides he is done for the day. With his father dead, he sits the head of the table
where he tells his mother and grandmother of his day. April Morning excites viewers, but unintentionally brings a few laughs. The movie has a solid
storyline, but in several scenes, the acting and scripting were laughable. One of the most ridiculous lines was from Adam's mother when he returns
home from the war. When Adam walks into the house, she exclaims, "You're so dirty, I've never seen you so dirty." (April Morning). In addition,
whenever someone shot another person in the movie, the person shot would fly backwards unrealistically and let out quick sighs when they died.

already puts the audience on a higher state of alert, as a common policeman is undermining, not only a man in a suit who seems to have more authority,
but also Tommy Lee Jones who is one of the main characters of this film. We can identify the higher authority that Tommy Lee Jones carries, not only
by acknowledging the black suit – which complies with the theme of secrecy – and the policemen are wearing tan coloured uniforms, but also his body
language and tone of voice. He appears to walk calmly towards the on looking policemen, not being intimidated by them and not being threatened by
the context of the situation. Furthermore, he talks in a calm, collective tone of voice and of a person of experience. All of this supports the main theme
of authority undermining all that we do. Conformity is also present as a main theme within this scene, due to the fact that the two groups of characters
are wearing uniforms. Conformity is a main theme, both within Lucas's film and Sonnenfeld's. In "Men in Black" Tommy Lee Jones is always wearing
the same black suit; this shows that he is committed to his job and that

No Country For Old Men Essay
As the movie, "No Country for Old Men," begins, the audience hears the near hopelessness and jaded voice of Sheriff Ed Tom Bell, played by
Tommy Lee Jones, as he describes his family's lineage as lawmen and he reflects on a diabolic killer he helped to send to death row. This
monologue in conjunction with the imagery of the dissolute and sparse landscape, quickly transports the audience into Sheriff Bell's world of
feeling frustrated and defeated. A world he is not sure he still wants to be a part of, where crimes are so atrocious and "big it's almost impossible to
take its measure" and he often laughs at them because there "Ain't a whole lot else you can do" (No 01:26:51 – 01:27:47). Within minutes of the
opening scenes, a significant contrast takes place. Going from the calm and reverent character of Sheriff Bell to the ruthless and psychotic creature of
Anton Chigurh, played by Javier Bardem. These two scenes essentially set the themes for the entire movie: Man vs. Self, Man vs. Man, Good vs....

Conspiracy Theories In Research
Due to the increasing belief and popularity in topic of conspiracy theories by the mass public, it is important to be aware of the reasoning for this
occurrence. Many of the studies that revolve around conspiracy theories themselves suggest the possible reasoning for believing in one. Examples of
some reasons being: a psychological disorder, the satisfaction of basic human requirements (sense of belonging and comfort), and perhaps even the
mistrust towards the government by its people. Most controversies that affect the research being done is how to determine whether or not facts

Robert Redford And Nolte Pros And Cons
Honestly, it's incessantly difficult to describe either Robert Redford or Nick Nolte as elderly – given the fact that many of us grew up watching these
Hollywood giants on the big screen. Since the 1960s and 70s, both Redford and Nolte have amassed a impressive catalog of respective roles that we
frankly don't have enough time in the day to fully explore. Still, films like 48 Hours (Nolte) and The Natural (Redford) will never get old – and will
withstand the test of time. In any event, aging is inevitable, and plenty of once dominant actors refuse to give up the spotlight, along with doing what

is full of charming, comical quips that will provide lots of laughter and light–hearted moments – the most memorable of which revolves around his
interaction with a plus–sized woman at the laundromat. The interaction between the characters is far from noteworthy, although the aftermath and
paranoia that envelops Katz is likely to illicit plenty of laugh–out–loud moments. Outside the near–endless amount of comedic occurrences, which is

Texas Election Case Study
Shrestha 1
Reza Shrestha Prof. 1 Sherry Sharifian GOVT 2306 18th April, 2018 How much does it cost to run for office in Texas?
In some instances, there is no particular amount of money that would guarantee a candidate an office in Texas. As the Texas Tribune reveals, the
amount of money spent by a candidate on each vote is dependent on a number of variables: the amount that is fundraised by the candidate, the amount
spent by the candidate, and the number of votes received by the candidate. Campaigns across the state are usually based on a cost–per–vote (Essig,
Bhandari and Mccullough).
Those candidates whose races are limited to smaller districts and electorates find it easy to run the cost–per–vote tap swiftly. It therefore means that
money is not always a determinant of the vote results. A candidate would spend a lot of money and still be beaten by the one who spent relatively
lower. 2 In a number of cases, a candidate who enters a general election competition with the right party affiliation for a given district or a better name
recognition is highly likely to low amount of money on campaigns.
Considering the above points, it is clear that running for an office in district six on a democrat ticket, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

How Do Aliens Represent African American
In science fiction films many different races are represented: African Americans, Italians, Asians, Aboriginals, etc. For this essay I am going to
observe how this movie genre portrays African Americans by analyzing the film series Men in Black. Furthermore, I believe these films view this race
negatively which indicates a racial divide in society. But first I am going to identify how this movie genre depicts the race and culture I am focusing on.

I believe this movie views African Americans negatively as it mentions and confirms stereotypes surrounding this race. The first stereotype, relates
how African Americans are controlled by white people. In the scene, where Smith is looking for information about Borris, he is denied access by
Agent O, Emma Thomson. Furthermore, when Smith is denied access, the camera is fixed at a low angle on him and fixed at a high angle when
Thomson is viewed. Presenting, Thomson as the dominant superior character who is in control of the shot and what Smith sees. Consequently,
stereotype confirmed: black people are controlled by white people. The second stereotype that is confirmed, African Americans are scary people.
After time travelling, Smith goes into an elevator with a white man whose gestures reveal that he is uncomfortable. At first Smith calmly asks the
man what day it is but then he yells at the white man who cowers away. Consequently, the stereotype of black men being scary is confirmed as the
man is terrified of Smith. Lastly, the third stereotype that is accepted is that if a black man is driving a nice car it means he stole it. As Smith is
driving towards a fair he is stopped by the police and asked if he stole the car. Smith then tells them that just because a black

Cormac McCarthy is perhaps one of the finest writers alive today. A novelist in the veins of apocalyptical Southern Gothic that's tried his hand as a
playwright as well as a screenwriter. In 2011 he offered up a play, or rather a novella in the form of a play entitled The Sunset Limited. A title which
most definitely does not refer to the train line that runs from New Orleans to Los Angeles. No, it's not a train line, it's a play and a movie starring
Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones, who also directed (and even had some on set script guidance from McCarthy, who's a long–time friend). One
need not differ much from the source material, but one can refine the suggestions of the lines and how they should be spoken, how they are to be felt.
This is Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson's second collaboration since The Rules of Engagement (2000) and one cherishes their time spent
away from each other onscreen but wonders why. It's as though in the 17 years since, these actors, who had already been adept at their craft, have
grown even more into seasoned veterans. They are masters that can occupy the mind of the audience with spellbinding authority. If you're looking to be

Lincoln Movie Accuracy
Analysis of the accuracy of the "Lincoln" Movie The Lincoln movie, released in 2012, directed by Steven Spielberg, and staring Daniel Day–Lewis as
Abraham Lincoln did tremendously well in theaters and racked up a number of awards. The movie follows President Lincoln though his struggle with
permanently abolishing slavery through the 13th amendment and does a great job at doing so. Displaying to the audience the true odds against
Lincoln within the government but nether less he continued to fight towards the greater good for all. Of coarse this movie does have qualities that
aren't precisely replicated to what actually occurred during Honest Abe's presidency, this movie is a Historic Drama not a Documentary. One of the
major details presented in the film Lincoln, is the idea that Abraham Lincoln's motive going into the civil war was to free the slaves. This isn't
necessarily true; slavery was an issue Lincoln was persistently involved with even before his presidency. Lincoln began as a commander in the militia,

This shows the cruelty of what came out of the Civil War, and how it truly tore the nation apart. A very powerful scene takes place soon after the
opening. It starts out with Lincoln sitting in what seems to be a large Union Camp. At the camp, there were two African American soldiers and two
white soldiers (03:53). This scene is powerful because the two white soldiers try to recite the Gettysburg Address, but forget the end. After the two
white soldiers and one of the African American soldiers leave, the one remaining finishes the address. This shows how passionate the black soldiers
were about earning their freedom. The following scenes focus on Lincoln pushing to get the thirteenth amendment passed. In the movie, Lincoln
believes that if the thirteenth amendment is passed, that Willington Port will fall, resulting in the falling of Richmond and the eventual end of the war.
A major scene in the movie is when the House of Representatives meet for the first time to discuss the amendment (53:43). Nearly all of the democratic

No Country For Old Men Essay
While No Country for Old Men has many strengths, it also has some weaknesses that negatively impact its quality. For example, the film is too long,
lacks character development, and has an unsatisfying ending. At 122 minutes, the film lasts longer than most thrillers. Anthony Lane, a writer for The
New Yorker, believes that after about two hours,No Country for Old Men feels like it could go on forever. Even though it lasts so long, the film spends
very little time on character development. Each character is given a single attribute, such as pride, wisdom, and stubbornness, and they rarely show

Because the movie frequently shifts from intense, enthralling action scenes to dramatic slow–paced scenes, Anthony Lane writes that "as a thriller, No
Country for Old Men is tight, pointed, and immune to the temptations of speed. I found myself [...] in a state of rare excitement [...]." While the action
scenes are very fast–paced, the film slows down between them to either emphasize a character trait, further the development of the story, or create a
comedic scene. For example, the horror of Chigurh is emphasized between major fight scenes when he kills an innocent person remorselessly
(Hunter). The pacing also decelerates to develop the story. Lou Lumenick states that throughout most of the film, there is very little dialogue, but
occasionally, a minor character delivers a long speech that serves to influence the main characters. []. Additionally, the pacing slows down to create a
comedic moment. An example of this is when Llewelyn is serenaded by a mariachi band as he is bleeding on the ground, which Lou Lumenick
describes as one of the few lighthearted moments in the entire film. This helps create a break from the action while still staying true to the Coen

Is The Best Actor?
Generally, when someone is said to be the "best" at something, it is an arbitrary title given to someone by another person based purely on their own
narrow viewpoint. This it true when talking about the best actor, however, it may be more important that one may think at first. Within today's media
consumed society, actors are put on a pedestal, creating a situation where their actions are observed constantly –– holding them to a standard. This
makes determining the best actor quite an important title to establish; they are the standard for those who are manipulated by the media. Some may
think of one of the great actors from the past, such as Marlon Brando, or one of the popular actors today –– like Chris Pratt –– they do not suffice. ...

Llewelyn was not an ordinary guy who could be easily manipulated. He was no punk at all; when push came to shove, he was ready to shove back.
I have always liked suspense thrillers like this movie. The ultimate suspense comes at the end where a massive shootout happens at the motel where

The movie ends as a cliffhanger when you see Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) telling his wife about the two dreams he had the night before.
Both dreams are about his father who has already passed. Unable to remember what the first dream was about, he goes on to explain the second. In

time window of 48 hours, a man that would join the ranks of a sinister hierarchy that included the likes of John Wilkes Booth, and too, would have has
own rendezvous with death before any validation of his part in the crime could be procured. In Oliver Stone's cinematic magnum opus JFK, a
chronicled conspiracy is delineated regarding the clandestine measures taken to kill the 35th President of the United States. The film begins with a
depiction of Kennedy as a somewhat radical progressive, disturbing the foundation and building himself a path to assassination. Following the carnage

Is The Best Actor?
When people say someone is the "best" at something, it is an arbitrary title given to someone by another person based purely on their own narrow
viewpoint. This it true when talking about the best actor, however, it may be more important that one may think at first. Within today's media
consumed society, actors are put on a pedestal, creating a situation where their actions are being observed constantly –– holding them to a standard.
This makes determining the best actor quite an important title to establish; they are the standard for those who the media manipulates. Some may think
of one of the great actors from the past, such as Marlon Brando, or one of the popular actors today –– like Chris Pratt –– they do not suffice. Though

In the acting world, there is also an "idea that great actors must transform themselves physically," truly making them "a 'real' actor," ((James Marsden Is
One of the...). The author uses this to show why he is not often considered as being "the best actor" citing that he is not a method actor, which is
accurate, as an actor becomes great through acting, not changing their physical appearance. This misconception of method acting being superior to the
normal acting in the traditional sense is toxic to the entire field. There are many great, non–method, actors who are sometimes better at acting
compared to those who transform themselves for a role. There are some great actors that do not transform themselves physically that are still in the
contending for greatest actor of all time; in the article How Do You Differentiate Good Acting From Bad Acting? The actors Tommy Lee Jones and
Anthony Hopkins being some of the greatest actors due to their multiplicity of their roles or just their brilliant portrayals within certain movies. The
basis for Tommy Lee Jones possibly being one of the best comes, once again, from his range as an actor, from his roles in the Men In Black films to
No Country For Old Men, no matter the role type, he is able to nail whatever role he takes on. Anthony Hopkins is of the same caliber as him by the
director due to his work in Remains of the Day, which has him performing beautifully throughout the whole movie, also putting him in as a

Essay on Jazz
Early Jazz
The earliest easily available jazz recordings are from the 1920's and early 1930's. Trumpet player and vocalist Louis Armstrong ("Pops",
"Satchmo") was by far the most important figure of this period. He played with groups called the Hot Five and the Hot Seven; any
recordings you can find of these groups are recommended. The style of these groups, and many others of the period, is often referred to as New Orleans
jazz or Dixieland. It is characterized by collective improvisation, in which all performers simultaneously play improvised melodic lines within the
harmonic structure of the tune. Louis, as a singer, is credited with the invention of scat, in which the vocalist makes up nonsense syllables to sing ...

There were also some important small group swing recordings during the 1930's and 1940's. These differed from earlier small groups in that these
featured very little collective improvisation. This music emphasized the individual soloist. Goodman, Ellington, and Basie recorded often in these
small group settings. Major saxophonists of the era include Johnny Hodges, Paul Gonsalves, Lester Young, Coleman Hawkins, and Ben Webster.
Trumpet players include Roy Eldridge, Harry "Sweets" Edison, Cootie Williams, and Charlie Shavers. Pianists include Ellington, Basie,
Teddy Wilson, Erroll Garner, and Oscar Peterson; guitarists include Charlie Christian, Herb Ellis, Barney Kessell, and Django Reinhardt; vibraphonists
include Lionel Hampton; bassists include Jimmy Blanton, Walter Page, and Slam Stewart; drummers include Jo Jones and Sam Woodyard. Billie
Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Ella Fitzgerald were important singers in this era. Most of these musicians recorded in small groups as well as with
big bands. The styles of these musicians can best be summarized by saying they concentrated primarily on playing melodically, on the swing feel, and
on the development of an individual sound. The blues was, as in many other styles, an important element of this music.
Bebop
The birth of bebop in the 1940's is often considered to mark the beginning of modern jazz. This style grew directly out of the small swing

Satire Essay On Aliens

  • 1. Satire Essay On Aliens Stock up on tinfoil hats, laser guns, refried beans and anything else one might want for a Martian invasion. This month, Mars will be closer to Earth than it's been in a decade. This could very well be the aliens best opportunity for an invasion. Let's hope they come in peace. MARS QUICKLY APPROACHINGEARTH On May 30th, keep your eyes on the sky. Mars will appear in a way that it hasn't in over a decade. NASA states that the red planet will be about 46.8 million miles away from Earth. That may seem like a great distance for average joes like you in me, but to aliens, it's a mere step away. The reason for the close passing is due to the two planets egg–like orbits. Minimum distance between the two doesn't stay the same for this reason meaning that gravitational pull from the planets is constantly changing. Seeing as they missed out on their last opportunity in 2003, perhaps they will be striking will full force this time around. NASA KNOWS SOMETHING All this could very well be a mindless alien conspiracy, but NASA has been up to some fishy business up on Mars. The curiosity rover is apparently up there to study the planet's surface, take a few scenic photos and get on out of there, but after reports of an alien humanoid sighting, NASA might just be up to something. If there are aliens already on the red planet, why would NASA hide them from us? Perhaps they don't offer any real threat to Earth. One can suppose we will find out soon when Earth comes closer to Mars in the coming weeks. Get Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

What Is The Theme Of The Executioner's Song DIGGING INTO THE EXECUTIONER'S STORIES A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE NOVEL AND THE MOVIE: THE EXECUTIONER'S SONG INTRODUCTION The Executioner's Song is a story of a rather eccentric man – Gary Gilmore; and the events in between his phase of being released from the prison and being executed. The story begins with the reunion of Gary and Brenda, who are cousins. Gary gets another chance to work and improve his life. While he begins well at the professional level, he fails at his many attempts in the dating scene. He then meets Nicole, with whom in the rest of the novel he shares a tumultuous relationship with. While a mob continues protesting against capital punishment, Gary pretends to be escaping from the jail. On the day of the execution, Gary bids farewell smilingly. As Gary walks in sleeveless tee and pants, he listens to "Too many times" on the radio– which almost reflects his life. Sitting in the executioner's chair, Gary laughs, while the rest stand in a pensive state. Looking at the ceiling, Gary gulps down fear and pronounces, "Let's do it." A reading from the Bible follows, thus leading to the execution. The movie end with an epilogue describing the future of each character, with Defying Gravity, playing in the background. MAILER VS. SCHILLER – DIFFERENCES IN THE BOOK AND MOVIE Throughout the movie, Gilmore is clean–shaven. But in the novel, Gilmore alternates between stubble, a Vandyke beard and clean–shaven look. While Gilmore's eyes have been decribed as blue in the novel, GIlmore's eyes are brown in the movie. In the book, Gilmore murdered Jensen in a bathroom with green tiles and tan paited walls. But in the film the bathroom has brown tiles on the floor, and white tiles all over. While Jensen was shot tice in the head, in the novel, the movie it is not very clear where Jensen was shot. Jensen would have bled, but Gary came out unstained from the bathroom. In the book, Gary consumed Fiorinol. In the movie, there is no such mention. Courtroom Participants' Professional Standards Courtroom Participants' professional Standards Willie L Jones CJA/224 01–07–2013 University of Phoenix Abstract Prosecutorial misconduct is defined as the use of deceptive, illegal or reprehensible methods used by a prosecutor, to attempt to persuade either the court or the jury. Wrongful convictions in this country are nothing new to the criminal justice system. They are as old as the system itself, and they will continue to exist as long as the fallibility of human judgment continues. (Reece vs. United States, 1997) The prejudice prong of Strickland is where the defendant needs to prove that "there is a reasonable probability that, but for counsel's unprofessional errors, the result of the proceeding would have been different." In this particular case they refer to the concluding factor as the "prejudice" prong and the previous factor as the "performance" prong. • 4. Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men Essay Ignorant souls will probably tell you that No Country for Old Men is a film of thirst for blood, material wealth and a sheriff's investigation. Those that suggest this, however, are the same that tune in weekly for their dose of Big Brother: The Evictions and are swayed by the words of their local car salesman. The Coen brothers' masterful 2005 adaption of Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men is a standout in recent cinema history, pushing aside this year's spit–out of Transformers from explosion–junkie Michael Bay. Taking a different approach from their usual quirky, humour films littered with three word profanities (cue: Burn after Reading Osbourne Cox fans), the Coen's have successfully stepped into a dark, deeply disquieting drama ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the relentlessly vindictive manner of McCarthy's novel, Bell delivers a welcomed voice of sanity and justice to the human mind; his old–school morals and philosophical reminiscences offering a sanction in a world dominated by evil. But it is Vietnam Vet, Llewellyn Moss, who levels best with the audience. Playing the wild card of the three, Brolin delivers a human centre to the film; the man most identifiable with, even as the odds steepen against him. As the minutes fly by, unnerving notions about the determined yet futile attempts of humankind to guide their obdurate fate – that serves as an unwelcome side–dish to the sachet – becomes increasingly clear. The dominant hunter of the film, characterised by an out–of–place Mod beetle–cut, is the epitome of the Coens' ability to point to biblical themes. Bardem plays the overpowering force that pervades the audience even when off–camera – his malevolent presence is constantly felt and the aftermath of his actions are unpardonably viewable. If the pneumatic hiss of Chigurh's killing device isn't enough to suggest his vindictive nature, then his sadistic taunting of his prey as he tightens his grip on their fate undoubtedly solidifies his role as the modern incarnation of the devil. This "living prophet of destruction" is watched from afar by disillusioned sheriff, Ed Tom Bell, who struggles to accept his damned world for the crumbling mess it has become. Bell, ... Pointless Violence in the Movie (Film), Natural Born Killers Pointless Violence in the Movie (Film), Natural Born Killers Daily, the public is bombarded with violence, not only on television, but also in other media, such as newspapers and tabloids. Natural Born Killers, a prime example of violence in the media, is a movie about two lovers, Mickey and Mallory Knox, who go on a killing spree across the Southwest. The movie takes a satirical look at how the media romanticizes violent crimes. Natural Born Killers has sparked a lot of controversy, as seen in the opposing views of Richard Corliss and Richard A. Blake. According to Time magazine's Richard Corliss, Natural Born Killers is "the ideal recipe for a Stone–crazy parable of greed and abuse." Corliss describes with great enthusiasm the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On the other hand, Richard A. Blake's review of Natural Born Killers is entirely negative. He describes the two main characters, Mickey and Mallory, as "Bonnie and Clyde" and "celebrities of gore"; Robert Downey, Jr., as an "Australian version of Geraldo," who works for a low class television program; Tom Sizemore as a "sadist cop"; and Tommy Lee Jones as an equally dense warden." He believes that the "special effects, explosions with bursting fire–balls, and mutilated bodies distract from the moronic scripting" of the film. Unlike Richard Corliss, he believes that Natural Born Killers gives society a mixed message, and that Oliver Stone's efforts in "exploring the connection between violence and the media" backfired because the movie itself has only added to the problem. I don't love it as much as some people, though "The Bourne Ultimatum" is great, but I was still excited by the prospect of Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon reteaming for another entry in the series. (Especially after the underwhelming "The Bourne Legacy.") While I did like the director and actor combo's return to the series, it was easily my least favorite entry besides that 2012 disappointment. This time around, Jason Bourne (Damon) has been off the grid for years. He's making ends meet by doing some street fighting that's taking its toll on him. He gets sucked back in to the world of government cover ups and espionage, however, Nick Parsons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The issue here is twofold. First, the writing never convinces audiences that Bourne's motivations are legitimate. I, nor the friends I saw it with, never bought that Bourne would return to this world for the reason he did. He already knows what happened to him, and though his reason is plausible, it's something that pales in comparison to what he already knows and the benefits of staying in hiding. Thus, the whole narrative is built on a faulty foundation. The second problem is the movie is too generic, especially for a franchise that, in its original trilogy, eschewed convention. The film follows a lot of the same beats, with the diabolical government higher–up and Bourne's inevitable confrontation with him feeling stale. Even the action scenes feel recycled in a way, as its more of Bourne moving through crowds effectively. Even the best set piece in the film, the Athens scene, suffers from this, as Bourne driving around on the stairs feels too much like a similar moment from "The Bourne Identity." Despite all these flaws, I still had a good time with "Jason Bourne." Damon owns the role, the supporting cast gets the job done and the score is good (I can't overstate how awesome that music at the end is). Due to the terrible directing and troubled script, "Jason Bourne" isn't as polished on entertaining as its Damon–led predecessors, but it's still an enjoyable action ... No Country For Old Men Adapted from the 2005 novel of the same name written by Cormac McCarthy; No Country for Old Men (2007) is a neo–western thriller film, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and produced by Scott Rudin. The unceasingly intense cat–and–mouse narrative follows Sheriff Ed Tom Bell (Tommy Lee Jones), Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) and Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) through the desolate terrain of the West Texas border country in 1980. The film opens with a soft, warming voiceover: "I was sheriff of this county when I was 25 years old. Hard to believe. My grandfather was a lawman; father too." Ed Tom begins to talk about how times have changed. "Some of the old time sheriffs never even wore a gun. A lotta folks find that hard to believe. "Can't help but wonder how they would have operated these times." As a proud lawman; Sheriff Ed Tom is fed up by how brutal criminals have become and society's inability to control them. • 9. Analysis Of No Country For Old Men But that aside, McCarthy's No Country for Old Men is a rigid, gripping thriller, one that pressures its drama by regulating it, giving events in an upfront, discreet, arranged way that builds up way more impact than, say, Dan Brown's exaggerated attempts to build tension by screeching at the reader that it's time to be enthusiastic. The Coen brothers' screen version can't help but be more dynamic than McCarthy's novel; even though they maintain the book's cool tone by having the characters rarely raise their voices or even play with outward emotion, just the intensity of their stares gives the story an immediate urgency beyond the book's. Instead, the book is sort of heavy, as though every event follows callously from the one before. The Coen's, by contrast, have a distinctive but more malleable style; they tend toward heightened narrative whether they're doing noir or comedy, but their tendency to play explore styles and genres makes it harder to recognize their authorial stamp, except that the vast majority of their movies are terrific. No Country for Old Men is no exception. It's a bracing thriller, a game going back and forth involving a lot of extra actors running around complicating the story and throwing out stylized, entertaining, and frequently strange performances. It's also almost terribly funny. The characters stay straight–faced and rarely bat an eye no matter what they run up against; they express tension, misery, anger and frustration alike by just getting a ... Well, he is an important figure not only to artists everywhere but to the LGBT community. To get you started, here are five facts. 1. SAM SMITH WAS THE FIRST OPENLYGAYMAN TO WIN AN OSCAR This is the main reason he has gathered so much attention lately. Sorry Sam Smith, try as you might, you can't beat the King. 4. A GAY MAN WROTE THE LATEST JAMES BOND SONG Yes, it was Sam Smith who won the award for the theme to James Bond's latest flick Specter. For those who are unaware, James Bond is perhaps the opposite of Sam Smit and the LGBT community. For a womanizer who represents such masculine behaviors, it's fairly comical that a gay man wrote the theme. This just further proves the equality that gay men deserve. In fact, I'm probably doing them a disservice by even making a big deal of the irony. My apologies. 5. SAM SMITH GAVE THE LGBT COMMUNITY THE PRESS IT NEEDS Any press is good press they say, and Sam Smith delivered. What he did for the community was raise awareness. Much like the African–American community did for Oscars, Smith brought inequality to light in the entertainment industry. It's long overdue that either of these communities get the respect they deserved. This year Oscars seemed like a positive turning point in the strive for an equal

In some instances, there is no particular amount of money that would guarantee a candidate an office in Texas. As the Texas Tribune reveals, the amount of money spent by a candidate on each vote is dependent on a number of variables: the amount that is fundraised by the candidate, the amount spent by the candidate, and the number of votes received by the candidate. Campaigns across the state are usually based on a cost–per–vote (Essig, Bhandari and Mccullough). Those candidates whose races are limited to smaller districts and electorates find it easy to run the cost–per–vote tap swiftly. It therefore means that money is not always a determinant of the vote results. A candidate would spend a lot of money and still be beaten by the one who spent relatively lower. 2 In a number of cases, a candidate who enters a general election competition with the right party affiliation for a given district or a better name recognition is highly likely to low amount of money on campaigns. I believe this movie views African Americans negatively as it mentions and confirms stereotypes surrounding this race. The first stereotype, relates how African Americans are controlled by white people. In the scene, where Smith is looking for information about Borris, he is denied access by Agent O, Emma Thomson. Furthermore, when Smith is denied access, the camera is fixed at a low angle on him and fixed at a high angle when Thomson is viewed. Presenting, Thomson as the dominant superior character who is in control of the shot and what Smith sees. Consequently, stereotype confirmed: black people are controlled by white people. The second stereotype that is confirmed, African Americans are scary people. After time travelling, Smith goes into an elevator with a white man whose gestures reveal that he is uncomfortable. At first Smith calmly asks the man what day it is but then he yells at the white man who cowers away. Consequently, the stereotype of black men being scary is confirmed as the man is terrified of Smith. Lastly, the third stereotype that is accepted is that if a black man is driving a nice car it means he stole it. A novelist in the veins of apocalyptical Southern Gothic that's tried his hand as a playwright as well as a screenwriter. In 2011 he offered up a play, or rather a novella in the form of a play entitled The Sunset Limited. A title which most definitely does not refer to the train line that runs from New Orleans to Los Angeles. No, it's not a train line, it's a play and a movie starring Samuel L. Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones, who also directed (and even had some on set script guidance from McCarthy, who's a long–time friend). One need not differ much from the source material, but one can refine the suggestions of the lines and how they should be spoken, how they are to be felt. This is Tommy Lee Jones and Samuel L. Jackson's second collaboration since The Rules of Engagement (2000) and one cherishes their time spent away from each other onscreen but wonders why. It's as though in the 17 years since, these actors, who had already been adept at their craft, have grown even more into seasoned veterans. They are masters that can occupy the mind of the audience with spellbinding authority. If you're looking to be an actor, take notes on these gents. One of the major details presented in the film Lincoln, is the idea that Abraham Lincoln's motive going into the civil war was to free the slaves. This isn't necessarily true; slavery was an issue Lincoln was persistently involved with even before his presidency. Lincoln began as a commander in the militia, studied law and became a member of the Whig Party, it wasn't until he met Stephen F. Douglas that he created a name for himself. It starts out with Lincoln sitting in what seems to be a large Union Camp. At the camp, there were two African American soldiers and two white soldiers (03:53). This scene is powerful because the two white soldiers try to recite the Gettysburg Address, but forget the end. After the two white soldiers and one of the African American soldiers leave, the one remaining finishes the address. This shows how passionate the black soldiers were about earning their freedom. The following scenes focus on Lincoln pushing to get the thirteenth amendment passed. In the movie, Lincoln believes that if the thirteenth amendment is passed, that Willington Port will fall, resulting in the falling of Richmond and the eventual end of the war. For example, the film is too long, lacks character development, and has an unsatisfying ending. At 122 minutes, the film lasts longer than most thrillers. Anthony Lane, a writer for The New Yorker, believes that after about two hours,No Country for Old Men feels like it could go on forever. Even though it lasts so long, the film spends very little time on character development. While the action scenes are very fast–paced, the film slows down between them to either emphasize a character trait, further the development of the story, or create a comedic scene. For example, the horror of Chigurh is emphasized between major fight scenes when he kills an innocent person remorselessly (Hunter). The pacing also decelerates to develop the story. Lou Lumenick states that throughout most of the film, there is very little dialogue, but occasionally, a minor character delivers a long speech that serves to influence the main characters. []. Additionally, the pacing slows down to create a comedic moment. An example of this is when Llewelyn is serenaded by a mariachi band as he is bleeding on the ground, which Lou Lumenick describes as one of the few lighthearted moments in the entire film.
