Technical Camera operator Working in video camera
operation requires good
eyesight, technical skill, and
creativity. Extensive
knowledge of cameras,
lenses, and lighting, and the
ability to operate cameras in
different settings - such as
studios and remote locations
- is essential. Knowledge of
editing equipment and
software is also required for
many positions.
While a college degree is not required
for many video camera operator
positions, an associate's or bachelor's
degree with coursework in
videography, journalism, television,
and film can provide excellent training.
Some universities also offer 2-year
certificate programs in
cinematography with courses in
camera operation, shot composition,
technique, and lighting.
Video camera operators need
good eyesight, hand-eye
coordination, and physical
strength to hold a camera for
extended periods of time. They
should also be team players
that willingly accept direction
and communicate well, verbally
and in writing. Creativity,
patience, accuracy, stress-
tolerance, and detail-orientation
are also important.
Editorial Film/video editor A film or video editor is
responsible for assembling
recorded raw material into a
finished product suitable for
broadcasting. The material
may consist of camera
footage, dialogue, sound
effects, graphics and special
effects. This is a key role in
the post-production process
and the editor's skill can
determine the quality and
delivery of the final product.
Digital technology, specialist
computer software and high-
quality digitization of sound
and pictures have effectively
replaced the traditional
manual method of cutting
film. Depending on the
product, an editor may be
very involved in creating the
narrative, structure and tone
of the program or film. In
some situations, they may be
given creative freedom while
in others they may be
needed merely to operate the
machine.
No specific qualifications are required
and so this area of work is open to all
graduates and those with a HND.
However, the following subjects may
increase your chances and provide
you with useful experience:
. Communication and media studies;
. Photography/film/television;
. Fine art/visual art;
. Information technology/multimedia;
Graphic design.
. Knowledge of the film
industry and movie
production
. Knowledge of editing
equipment and a
willingness to keep up
with changes in that
technology
. A good photographic eye for
camera angles and
special effects, as well
as knowledge of audio
effects
. Ability to work alone on
detailed and sometimes
tedious work
. Problem-solving skills to
make film sequences
work well or to work with
the available footage
. Strong interpersonal skills to
work well with directors,
cinematographers,
sound editors, special
effects editors and
music producers
. Flexibility to deal with
production delays,
unexpected problems
and varied personality

career, some employers prefer
candidates with at least a
bachelor's degree in a relevant

production coordinator positions
are internships filled by students
who may receive compensation
in the form of college credits. A
bachelor's degree in film
production or film studies
focuses on production aspects
of filmmaking.

could take short courses and
master classes to help you further
your technical, business and
creative skills. You can find
relevant training with
organizations such as:

companies
Directors’ Guild of Great Britain.

they know he or she has

  • 1. Job areas form one sector Your job example Skills Education and Training Personal Attributes/Qualities Technical Camera operator Working in video camera operation requires good eyesight, technical skill, and creativity. Extensive knowledge of cameras, lenses, and lighting, and the ability to operate cameras in different settings - such as studios and remote locations - is essential. Knowledge of editing equipment and software is also required for many positions. While a college degree is not required for many video camera operator positions, an associate's or bachelor's degree with coursework in videography, journalism, television, and film can provide excellent training. Some universities also offer 2-year certificate programs in cinematography with courses in camera operation, shot composition, technique, and lighting. Video camera operators need good eyesight, hand-eye coordination, and physical strength to hold a camera for extended periods of time. They should also be team players that willingly accept direction and communicate well, verbally and in writing. Creativity, patience, accuracy, stress- tolerance, and detail-orientation are also important.
  • 2. Editorial Film/video editor A film or video editor is responsible for assembling recorded raw material into a finished product suitable for broadcasting. The material may consist of camera footage, dialogue, sound effects, graphics and special effects. This is a key role in the post-production process and the editor's skill can determine the quality and delivery of the final product. Digital technology, specialist computer software and high- quality digitization of sound and pictures have effectively replaced the traditional manual method of cutting film. Depending on the product, an editor may be very involved in creating the narrative, structure and tone of the program or film. In some situations, they may be given creative freedom while in others they may be needed merely to operate the machine. No specific qualifications are required and so this area of work is open to all graduates and those with a HND. However, the following subjects may increase your chances and provide you with useful experience: . Communication and media studies; . Photography/film/television; . Fine art/visual art; . Information technology/multimedia; Graphic design. . Knowledge of the film industry and movie production . Knowledge of editing equipment and a willingness to keep up with changes in that technology . A good photographic eye for camera angles and special effects, as well as knowledge of audio effects . Ability to work alone on detailed and sometimes tedious work . Problem-solving skills to make film sequences work well or to work with the available footage . Strong interpersonal skills to work well with directors, cinematographers, sound editors, special effects editors and music producers . Flexibility to deal with production delays, unexpected problems and varied personality types
  • 3. Administrative Film production coordinators 1) Understand, absolutely, the entire process of the production that you are coordinating and be able to articulate it in writing and in conversation 
 2) The ability to envision the entire production, from the finished event or product back to the beginning, so you can PRE-PLAN, ADJUST and EXECUTE every single detail in order to avoid mistakes, disasters and crisis 
 3) Sensitive and diplomatic interpersonal communication skills for managing teams and individuals and inspiring them to do their best in executing the overall vision of the production While formal education is not mandatory for entering this career, some employers prefer candidates with at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as film studies. Additionally, some film production coordinator positions are internships filled by students who may receive compensation in the form of college credits. A bachelor's degree in film production or film studies focuses on production aspects of filmmaking. The ability to use your own imitative but also know when matters need to be refers to be supervisor.
  • 4. Managerial Film director . Directors have overall responsibility for the way films or television programmers are made. As a director, you would use your creativity, organizational skills and technical knowledge to manage the whole production process. Meeting producers . Commissioning a script or an idea for a documentary . Interpreting scripts and developing storyboards . Deciding on how the production should look and where it should be filmed . Planning the shooting schedule and logistics . Hiring the cast and crew Guiding the technical crew The most important requirements are to have substantial experience in TV or film, in- depth understanding of the production process, and a network of contacts in the industry. As an experienced director, you could take short courses and master classes to help you further your technical, business and creative skills. You can find relevant training with organizations such as: . Film schools . Regional screen agencies . Specialist private training companies Directors’ Guild of Great Britain. . Integrity: People trust a good manager because they know he or she has personal integrity. Workers need to know that you will fight for them, do what you say, and follow the rules. . Dependability/Reliability: As a person, you should be dependable and reliable. Your superiors, as well as your subordinates, need to know that you can be counted on. Others in the organization should be able to rely on you. . Optimism: An optimistic attitude can help build morale in your employees. Your positive attitude can inspire others, and help them feel good about getting things done. Confidence: You need to be able to make decisions in confidence, and show others that you are capable of making good decisions. Your confidence will rub off on others, and can be of benefit.
  • 5. Finance Accounting assistant . Balancing accounts . Processing receipts, sales invoices and payments . Maintaining financial records which accurately record the business’ incoming and outgoing finances . Completing VAT return forms . Ensuring that accounts are accurately monitored and recorded . Dealing with a company’s payroll by processing wages and employee expense claims . Preparing profit and loss accounts sheets . Preparing balance sheets . Answering the phone and reading/sending emails to clients Meeting and greeting clients when they come into the office A qualification in bookkeeping or accounts preparation will act as a good grounding for the job and will usually enable accounts assistants to progress to higher wages faster although training towards these qualifications is usually offered by employers through the job. More specific qualifications related to the job of accounts assistant include: . Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) Level 2 Certificate in Book Keeping . International Association of Bookkeepers (IAB) Levels 2 and 3 Certificates in Bookkeeping . Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Level 1 Certificate in Basic Bookkeeping . Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) Level 2 in Manual or Computerized Bookkeeping OCR Level 1 Certificate in Bookkeeping . Highly Organized - Attention to detail and the ability to work with a high degree of accuracy in an efficient and timely manner and to strict deadlines. . Accurate - in calculating, recording and checking of work. . Good timekeeping and punctuality. . Ability to identify, analyze and solve problems. . Team player - willing to multi-skill, help others and be able to ask for help. . Good interpersonal skills in order to communicate at all levels. . Good Customer Service - able to meet the needs of both internal and external customers. A 'can do’ attitude and flexible approach to working is essential to this role.

A sense of how colors work together and an eye for complementary fabrics is musts. Fashion designers need creativity, or the ability to use their imagination to conjure original outfits and patterns. Designers work with diverse fabrics, shapes and colors to make outfits that are distinctive, practical and fashionable.
