2. Survey/Research
Regarding our title we conducted a small survey within
our media classes in order to help us come to a final
decision on the title for our film opening. Firstly we
asked the people in our media class because all of
them fit in to our target audience of 13-29 year olds.
Another reason why we asked our media class was
because we were short on time however we feel that
they would be a good representation and provide
relevant answers.
Regarding how we approached the survey, firstly we
would tell them about our film opening and what it will
consist of. We also informed them about the plot of the
whole movie to give them a better insight of how the
movie will plan out, hoping that it will help them in the
process of choosing an answer.
The Survey of 27
•12 rounds- 3
•Underdog-2
•Steam-0
•Unconventional-6
•Left hook-4
•Adrenaline-4
•Back on the ropes-2
•The Weigh In- 6
3. The Decision
The survey results show an equal number of people
going for the titles ‘Unconventional’ and ‘The Weigh In’.
After discussing with Hentrik which one would be the
best for our opening, we came to the conclusion that
we would use ‘The Weigh In’. The reason for this is
that it highlights the fact that our protagonists life was
in the balance when he had to choose from committing
suicide or to take up the training which the coach
offered (As written in the plot). Also because with every
boxing match their is a Weigh In before hand, so we
thought it was more relevant then ‘Unconventional’.
Unconventional is a fighting style in boxing and our
boxer is not written to have a unconventional style so it
would be irrelevant. Overall we chose ‘The Weigh In’
because we felt that it relates more to our film plot and
film opening.
