EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The objective of the study is to know the difficulty faced and the solution which can be used
during the marketing of IT enable product with special reference to Ascent ITes product.
For finding the difficulties and their solution , I have done the exploratory research . I went
to the different organization and tried to sell the the different IT products according to their
requirement and noted down their needs , demands and the question asked by them. We tried
out to find the solution of the problem if they have faced. We tried to recommend them the
best solution which we can provide, and we note their reaction. From this type of case
analysis I tried my best way to increase the business and profit of my organization.
After gone through all the cases I came to the conclusion that every company wants
economical product which suits to the company’s budget, full fills all the requirements and
work above the expectations. Second thing is every company believes that investment should
be less and output should be more.

provides the online and offline accounting software.
MARKETING DEPARTMENT
The Strategic Marketing team focuses on developing and implementing strategies
aimed at increasing both the market share of our products and profitability of the

TYPES OF WEBSITES
STATIC WEBSITE: - A static website is one that has web pages stored on the server in the
format that is sent to a client web browser. It is primarily coded in Hypertext Markup
Language (HTML).
Simple forms or marketing examples of websites, such as classic website, a five-page
website or a brochure website are often static websites, because they present pre-defined,
static information to the user. This may include information about a company and its products

and services through text, photos, animations, audio/video and interactive menus and
navigation.
This type of website usually displays the same information to all visitors. Similar to handing
out a printed brochure to customers or clients, a static website will generally provide
consistent, standard information for an extended period of time. Although the website owner
may make updates periodically, it is a manual process to edit the text, photos and other
content and may require basic website design skills and software.
DYNAMIC WEBSITE: - A dynamic website is one that changes or customizes itself
frequently and automatically, based on certain criteria.
Dynamic websites can have two types of dynamic activity: Code and Content. Dynamic code
is invisible or behind the scenes and dynamic content is visible or fully displayed.
Dynamic code
The first type is a web page with dynamic code. The code is constructed dynamically on the
fly using active programming language instead of plain, static HTML.
A website with dynamic code refers to its construction or how it is built, and more
specifically refers to the code used to create a single web page. A dynamic web page is
generated on the fly by piecing together certain blocks of code, procedures or routines. A
dynamically-generated web page would recall various bits of information from a database
and put them together in a pre-defined format to present the reader with a coherent page. It
interacts with users in a variety of ways including by reading cookies recognizing users'
previous history, session variables, server side variables etc., or by using direct interaction
(form elements, mouse over, etc.). A site can display the current state of a dialogue between
users, monitor a changing situation, or provide information in some way personalized to the
requirements of the individual user.
Dynamic content
The second type is a website with dynamic content displayed in plain view. Variable content
is displayed dynamically on the fly based on certain criteria, usually by retrieving content
stored in a database.
A website with dynamic content refers to how its messages, text, images and other
information are displayed on the web page and more specifically how its content changes at

any given moment. The web page content varies based on certain criteria, either pre-defined
rules or variable user input. For example, a website with a database of news articles can use a
pre-defined rule which tells it to display all news articles for today's date. This type of
dynamic website will automatically show the most current news articles on any given date.
Another example of dynamic content is when a retail website with a database of media
products allows a user to input a search request for the keyword Beatles. In response, the
content of the web page will spontaneously change the way it looked before, and will then
display a list of Beatles products like CDs, DVDs and books.

Static pages are charged @ Rs. 700 per pages.
Dynamic pages are charged @ Rs 1500 per pages
excluding service tax.
CUSTOMIZED SOFTWARE
Custom software is software that is specially developed for some specific organization or
other user.
Custom software can be developed by an in-house software development group, or be
commissioned from a software developer.
Since custom software is developed for a single customer it can accommodate that customer's
particular preferences and expectations. Custom software may be designed in stage by stage

Bulk Messaging is the dissemination of large numbers of SMS messages for delivery

Most SMS software applications allow you to upload lists of mobile phone numbers using a
TXT or CSV file. Some sophisticated systems can automatically remove any duplicated
numbers or the mobile numbers are validated prior to sending the messages.

GOVERNMENT POLICY
After the economic reforms of 1991-92, liberalization of external trade, elimination of duties
on imports of information technology products, relaxation of controls on both inward and
outward investments and foreign exchange and the fiscal measures taken by the Government
of India and the individual State Governments specifically for IT and ITES have been major
contributory factors for the sector to flourish in India and for the country to be able to acquire
a dominant position in offshore services in the world. The major fiscal incentives provided by
the Government of India have been for the Export Oriented Units (EOU), Software
Technology Parks (STP), and Special Economic Zones (SEZ).
Industrial Licensing has been virtually abolished in the Information Technology sector.
There is no reservation for public sector enterprises in the Information Technology industry
and private sector investment is welcome in every area.
Information Technology industry can be set up anywhere in the country, subject to clearance
from the authorities responsible for control of environmental pollution and local zoning and
land use regulations.

TAXATION ASPECT OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY IN INDIA
Information Technology Software service has been subjected to service tax with effect from
16th
May 2008 with the Government notifying the date of amendments by the Finance Act
2008 in the Finance Act 1994 which is statutory provision for levy of Service Tax. The date
of 16th
May 2008 has been notified vide Notification No. 18/2008 – Service Tax as the date
on which the provisions of the Finance Act 2008 related to service tax come into force.
As defined by the Finance Act 2008, ―information technology software‖ means any
representation of instructions, data, sound or image, including source code and object code,
recorded in a machine readable form, and capable of being manipulated or providing
interactivity to a user, by means of a computer or an automatic data processing machine or
any other device or equipment.
Further, services provided by a consulting engineer in relation to advice, consultancy or
technical assistance in the disciplines of both computer hardware engineering and computer
software engineering shall also be subject to service tax.
Taxable Service is service provided or to be provided to any person, by any other person in
relation to information technology software for use in the course, or furtherance, of business
or commerce, including,—
(i) Development of information technology software.
(ii) Study, analysis, design and programming of information technology software.
(iii) Adaptation, up gradation, enhancement, implementation and other similar services
related to information technology software.
(iv)Providing advice, consultancy and assistance on matters related to information technology
software, including conducting feasibility studies on implementation of a system,
specifications for a database design, guidance and assistance during the startup phase of a
new system, specifications to secure a database, advice on proprietary information
technology software.
(v) Acquiring the right to use information technology software for commercial exploitation
including right to reproduce, distribute and sell information technology software and right to

use software components for the creation of and inclusion in other information technology
software products,
(vi)Acquiring the right to use information technology software supplied electronically.
As defined by the Finance Act 2008, ―information technology software‖ means any

(ii) Consulting engineer service [section 65(105)(g)], so as to omit the exclusion of computer
software engineering consultancy and provide that services provided by a consulting engineer
in relation to advice, consultancy or technical assistance in the disciplines of both computer
hardware engineering and computer software engineering shall also be classifiable under this
service;
(iii) Technical testing and analysis service [section 65(106)] so as to specifically include
testing or analysis of information technology software;
(iv)Technical inspection and certification service [section 65(108)] so as to specifically
include inspection, examination and certification of information technology software;
We are following the Government Services and all the amendments time to time as we are
following the Services Charge at 12.36% and properly filing to the Government of India.

1) Difficulty in capturing market
Definitely new growing company always faces lots of problems when enters in the market
because of the competitors.
2) Difficulty in positioning
It will face positioning problem of course . It will take lots of years and hard work to
position a good image in the market.
3) Some technical issue
Company can face some of the technical problem while selling software because
a) The client doesn’t express its entire requirement with us and after the completion of
the project they expect the full fledged software. But it is always a tough task to
anticipate the requirement of the client and deliver them the deliverables. So it is one
of the biggest troubles for us.
b) Sometimes clients don’t give the right feedback to us in right time. They postponed
the meetings. Sometimes because of the problem of synchronization between clients
and us.
c) We know that organization have dozens of option in market if organization found that
product is not up to the mark then definitely organization will switch to another one.

RESEARCH DESIGN
A research design is a framework or blueprint for conducting the research project. It specifies
the precise details of the procedures necessary for obtaining the required information. It is
important to have a good research design in order to ensure that the research project is
conducted effectively and efficiently.
EXPLORATORY RESEARCH STUDY
Exploratory research is a type of research conducted for a problem that has not been clearly
defined. Exploratory research helps determine the best research design, data
collection method and selection of subjects. It should draw definitive conclusions only with
extreme caution. Given its fundamental nature, exploratory research often concludes that a
perceived problem does not actually exist.
Exploratory research often relies on secondary research such as reviewing available literature
and/or data, or qualitative approaches such as informal discussions with consumers,
employees, management or competitors, and more formal approaches through in-depth
interviews, focus groups, projective methods, case studies or pilot studies. The Internet
allows for research methods that are more interactive in nature. For example, RSS feeds
efficiently supply researchers with up-to-date information; major search engine search results

product. And also price was the matter.
Recommendation
We manage the price little bit according to his wish, and we also provide the designer to
him as we have already in our organization, the photographer was arranged from outside. We
promised him that we will provide him the best designed website and also guaranteed him
that his website will come on first page of the google within 90 days.

After the first conversation we have decided for meeting with the owner of the firm, the firm

website links according to which his website should be designed.
Problem statement
He was not ready for the price which we have quoted for the website .He demanded for
the expensive one which he has shown to us but he wasn’t ready to pay the original amount,
he wanted the expensive one at the lower prices.
Recommendation
We talked with our senior for further conversation, our seniors were ready to minimize
the quoted price little bit but not much. So we again tried to convenience him with new
quoted price. But he was not ready for that price also. So we again talked with our senior and
now he was ready according to his wish but he kept the condition that if he will book the deal
and also pay half of the dealing amount. He was ready for that and he paid half of the price.

Excellent solution was the firm which deals in real estates, they provide all the

using that service for 2 paisa per sms. He blamed us that we are cheating with him by
charging high price, he also challenge us that he will provide us same service for 2 paisa per
sms if we want. The conversation again started from our side by telling about the special
features of our service and quality which we are going to provide him. But he was not ready
by saying that all company provide same service.
Recommendation
We fixed the other meeting with him and our senior, so that solution can be found. The
meeting was fixed for another week. Me and my one of the senior went to the office and we
started our conversation again and the conversation took the same step and the problem was

same , that is the price for sms, we have minimize the price from 6 paisa to 5 paisa per sms
upto 1L, and 4 paisa upto 3L . But he was ready for that to. He wants the price to be 2 paisa
per sms upto 1L. we are also not ready to decrease our price that much. So we gently asked
him to take the service from other company which can provide him such fewer prices.
Result
Unfortunately we were not able to crack the deal and we also lose the deal of website
design because of the bulk messaging price which we have quoted.
4) Faculties of commerce studies
Faculty of commerce studies was the training institutes which provide training and
knowledge to the commerce student.

As we explained all the detail about the SEO service, we have the quoted the price
according to our company policy i.e. 6000 for 5 keywords . Again the problem was same that
is price, she wants the price to be decrease and one more problem arises that we take 6000 rs

she told us we are giving her guarantee that her page will be on the first page of Google
within 90 days, that means she get the business from that service after 3 month then why
should she will pay for the first 3 month, it was like she will for free without any profit.
Recommendation
We explained her that it is not like that it will take exactly 90 days it may be done
before. We also explained her that if her website will be on first page of the Google then she
can also earn good money through advertising on her website , which is done by the Google
company , and more the person visit the site more the profit she will get . But she was never
ready for that thing; she told that she won’t pay for starting three months as she was not
getting any business through this month. After that we proposed the other deal that if she will
pay the six months amount in advance she will be getting discount of rs. 6000 but she took
the same point again and again that she don’t want to pay for first 3 months, and we were not
ready for that.
Result
The deal was not able to finalise as we were not ready to provide the free service for 3
months and she was not ready to pay for three months.
5) Multitech instrument co. ltd.
Multitech instrument co. ltd is the private company which are associated with
government companies which deal with the lab instruments. The company provides the
certificate for the instrument which depends upon the quality and accuracy of the instrument.

We have provided the discount, but he was not ready as he was saying different
company was providing the same software with much less price. We also provided the
solution that we provide the training to him and his staff so that they can use the software
very easily, and we also provide free service for 1 year if any problem occurs but he was not
ready for that price.
Result
Deal was not finalised
6) Heaven finders
Heaven finder was the firm which deals with tours and travels services and some
other services. We went in the office and meet Risabh Jain who deals with the planning and
marketing department of the company. We explain him about the company and all the

After gone through all the cases I came to the conclusion that every company wants
economical product which suits to the company’s budget, full fills all the requirements and
work above the expectations.
Second thing is every company believes that investment should be less and output should be
more.
Every organization does not want to spend money from where they can’t receive any profit,
even for a short duration.
The organization wants quality services and user friendly products.
The organization doesn’t want to sell their products until they get higher profit.
RECOMMENDATION
According to the analysis of the cases I will recommend that the company should quote the
price according to the organization and their requirement. And they must provide the good
services and at the right time. We must also note down their all needs, demands, and
requirement and provide the services according to that, so that they can become our loyal and
profitable customer.
LIMITATION
1) We cannot force any one to bye our product, even the service was good.
2) The price and policy of the company cannot be disclosed in front of any one.

OVERALL EXPERIENCE
I worked in the company as BDM (business development manager) in IT marketing
department. My work is to sell and promote the IT services which my company provide.
I should done my work much better then what I have done, when the company inform me the
exact price of the services, which can help me in dealing with the customer. The company
should provide the actual price of the services and the policy.
We can gain more experience if we have visited big organization and experience people,
because while dealing with them we can gain the knowledge and experience much better way
because of the knowledge they are already having due to experience they obtained during
these years.
This experience can help me in my placement and also when I am working in the
organization. Because training provide us the environment and culture of the organization
which we are going to face in the organization.

For finding the difficulties and their solution , I have done the exploratory research . I went to the different organization and tried to sell the the different IT products according to their requirement and noted down their needs , demands and the question asked by them. We tried out to find the solution of the problem if they have faced. We tried to recommend them the best solution which we can provide, and we note their reaction. From this type of case analysis I tried my best way to increase the business and profit of my organization. Dynamic websites can have two types of dynamic activity: Code and Content. Dynamic code is invisible or behind the scenes and dynamic content is visible or fully displayed. Dynamic code The first type is a web page with dynamic code. The code is constructed dynamically on the fly using active programming language instead of plain, static HTML. A website with dynamic code refers to its construction or how it is built, and more specifically refers to the code used to create a single web page. A dynamic web page is generated on the fly by piecing together certain blocks of code, procedures or routines. A dynamically-generated web page would recall various bits of information from a database and put them together in a pre-defined format to present the reader with a coherent page. It interacts with users in a variety of ways including by reading cookies recognizing users' previous history, session variables, server side variables etc., or by using direct interaction (form elements, mouse over, etc.). Cost:- Static pages are charged @ Rs. 700 per pages. Dynamic pages are charged @ Rs 1500 per pages excluding service tax. We were also ready to provide discount but they were not ready for that, they want that all the service

Second thing is every company believes that investment should be less and output should be more. Every organization does not want to spend money from where they can’t receive any profit, even for a short duration. The organization wants quality services and user friendly products. The organization doesn’t want to sell their products until they get higher profit. RECOMMENDATION According to the analysis of the cases I will recommend that the company should quote the price according to the organization and their requirement. And they must provide the good services and at the right time. We must also note down their all needs, demands, and requirement and provide the services according to that, so that they can become our loyal and profitable customer. LIMITATION 1) We cannot force any one to bye our product, even the service was good. 2) The price and policy of the company cannot be disclosed in front of any one. 3) The price cannot be minimized according to the customer because of the quality service we are providing.

My work is to sell and promote the IT services which my company provide. I should done my work much better then what I have done, when the company inform me the exact price of the services, which can help me in dealing with the customer. The company should provide the actual price of the services and the policy. We can gain more experience if we have visited big organization and experience people, because while dealing with them we can gain the knowledge and experience much better way because of the knowledge they are already having due to experience they obtained during these years. This experience can help me in my placement and also when I am working in the organization.
