Witness Statement
This is my witness statement, it includes what I did well in the pitch and what I could include
to make my pitch better. One of the things I could have done better was to include the target
audience for my magazines. This means I now have to go away and add my target audience
to my pitch presentation.
Feedback of Pitch
I asked my audience to fill out a survey that I crated on
SurveyMonkey. The fist question that I asked was ‘What
improvements could I make to my front cover?’ By asking this
question I could find out others people opinion on my chosen
front cover and what I could improve on my front cover.
Some of the answers were ‘to add more colour and to use a
range of fonts’ , ‘ the masthead was quite hard to read’ and ‘
use a different image for the front cover.’
The second question I got my audience was ‘Have I
covered all the points on the checklist’ I gave them
the choice of yes and no and 100% of the audience
said yes I did cover all the points in the checklist.
This conveys that I was prepared for the pitch buy
making sure I have covered everything.
Feedback of Pitch
Question three of my SurveyMonkey was ‘Would you
change anything about my front cover? If so why?’ I chose
this question so I could find out what other people
thought about my front cover. The two most popular
answer was ‘ To make the masthead stand out’ and ‘ To
change the main image.’
The forth question that I asked my audience was ‘
What could I improve about my presenting my
pitch?’ I chose this question so I know what I would
have to improve for the next pitch that I do. The
most said answer was to interact with the audience
more by looking at them more. This will make the
audience feel more involved with the pitch.
Feedback of Pitch
The fifth question was ‘What could I change about my
DPS?’ I chose this question as it allows me to get other
peoples opinion on my DPS and they can give me
feedback on what I could change about my DPS. The
main reply was to fill the empty space up.
The sixth question is ‘What would you rate my
front cover out of 10?’ I chose this question to
find out people initial thought on my front
cover. The average rating was 7/10. This
means that I have room to improve.
Feedback of Pitch
This is the finally question that I
got my audience to fill out after I
presented the pitch. The question
was ‘What piece of work could I
cover in more detail?’ the main
reply was ‘nothing’ which means
that it was good but however
three people said double page
spread, production plan and
second magazine.
Software Risk Assessment
Resizing an image
When resizing an image I pressed shift as this stops the image form
warping and pixelating. By resizing an image probably it will make the
image look more professional which will then make my front cover and
DPS more professional. The shift key does this by keeping the
dimensions the same on the photo so it stays the same quality. If you
don’t use the shift key the image will become distorted.
Eyedropper Tool
To keep the same colour scheme throughout my magazine front cover
and DPS as this makes my magazine look professional and not a mess.
The ‘eyedropper tool’ is a tool that can find the exact colour used so
you can us throughout. So this means that for every new text or shape
I could easily choose the same colour I have been using throughout.
Risk Assessment
Before taking the pictures of the
person I asked them to fill out a
consent form which means they
have agreed to be having a
photo to be
published/manipulated once
signed.
Area Assessment
When looking for a location for
the picture to be taken of I had
to check to see of there any
possible hazards that could
harm the person. I looked at the
area I toke the photos in and it
was safe.
Pitch Improvements
One of my pitch improvement
was to explain the Hartley,
Katz, Maslow and socio-
economic needs in my pitch.
The screenshot to the
right shows that I have put
my target audience into
my pitch presentation.
Another pitch improvement that I have to do was to put
spending power into my pitch. In this slide I discussed what
my target audience would in terms of the socio-economic
needs table, then form this I will know what my spending
power would be.
Pitch Improvements
One of my pitch improvements was on
my front cover to make the strapline
smaller. The two screenshots show
that I have changed my strapline to
make it smaller as when it was bigger
it looked like a cover line.
My second front cover improvement
was to make the barcode go over the
persons body. So I made the barcode
go over tom.

IPSO Editors code of practise
https://www.ipso.co.uk/editors-code-of-practice/
The Code- It is the cornerstone of the system of voluntary self-regulation to which they have made a
binding contractual commitment. It balances both the rights of the individual and the public's right to
know.
Accuracy- This is when the media company has to make sure that what they are publishing is accurate
towards the IPSO guidelines. However if the company is inaccuracy when this must be corrected or they
have to write an apology. However the publisher could be sewed by the person they have accused if
they have no evidence of what they say.
Privacy- This is when the editor has to be careful about what they are writing about someone and they
don’t expose any sensitive information. The code says that ‘Everyone is entitled to respect for his or her
private and family life, home, health and including digital communications’ so this means that if an
editor mentions any of this they can take action against them. For example my magazine cannot expose
any of this private information when writing about an artists without their permission. However if the
editor has consent from the person they are allowed to mention these topics.
Harassment- This is when the editor or journalists cannot engage in any form of intimidation or
harassment. This includes not persist in asking questions, telephoning and if they are on someone's
property and they are asked to leave they have to leave. For example my magazine’s journalist cannot
force someone into doing an interview with them otherwise they could be persecuted.
Calendar Events
My magazine will be published on the Saturday 2nd of
September as this is after the summer where all the big
festivals have just happened so there will be a lot of music
buyers looking at music magazines.
In my magazine I will promoting festivals and other
brands for my advertising. This way I will be earning more
money.
My magazines release sate will not be disrupted by any
seasonal holiday.
Conclusion
In this LO I have talked about my feedback that I
got from the audience I presented my pitch to.
Then I made the improvements to my pitch that
they gave me so it is better. Also I have talked
about the risk assessment for the person that
the photo was taken of and the software risk
assessment. Furthermore I have talked about
the legal and ethical issues.

  • 4. Feedback of Pitch Question three of my SurveyMonkey was ‘Would you change anything about my front cover? If so why?’ I chose this question so I could find out what other people thought about my front cover. The two most popular answer was ‘ To make the masthead stand out’ and ‘ To change the main image.’ The forth question that I asked my audience was ‘ What could I improve about my presenting my pitch?’ I chose this question so I know what I would have to improve for the next pitch that I do. The most said answer was to interact with the audience more by looking at them more. This will make the audience feel more involved with the pitch.
  • 5. Feedback of Pitch The fifth question was ‘What could I change about my DPS?’ I chose this question as it allows me to get other peoples opinion on my DPS and they can give me feedback on what I could change about my DPS. The main reply was to fill the empty space up. The sixth question is ‘What would you rate my front cover out of 10?’ I chose this question to find out people initial thought on my front cover. The average rating was 7/10. This means that I have room to improve.
  • 6. Feedback of Pitch This is the finally question that I got my audience to fill out after I presented the pitch. The question was ‘What piece of work could I cover in more detail?’ the main reply was ‘nothing’ which means that it was good but however three people said double page spread, production plan and second magazine.
  • 7. Software Risk Assessment Resizing an image When resizing an image I pressed shift as this stops the image form warping and pixelating. By resizing an image probably it will make the image look more professional which will then make my front cover and DPS more professional. The shift key does this by keeping the dimensions the same on the photo so it stays the same quality. If you don’t use the shift key the image will become distorted. Eyedropper Tool To keep the same colour scheme throughout my magazine front cover and DPS as this makes my magazine look professional and not a mess. The ‘eyedropper tool’ is a tool that can find the exact colour used so you can us throughout. So this means that for every new text or shape I could easily choose the same colour I have been using throughout.
  • 8. Risk Assessment Before taking the pictures of the person I asked them to fill out a consent form which means they have agreed to be having a photo to be published/manipulated once signed. Area Assessment When looking for a location for the picture to be taken of I had to check to see of there any possible hazards that could harm the person. I looked at the area I toke the photos in and it was safe.
  • 9. Pitch Improvements One of my pitch improvement was to explain the Hartley, Katz, Maslow and socio- economic needs in my pitch. The screenshot to the right shows that I have put my target audience into my pitch presentation. Another pitch improvement that I have to do was to put spending power into my pitch. In this slide I discussed what my target audience would in terms of the socio-economic needs table, then form this I will know what my spending power would be.
  • 10. Pitch Improvements One of my pitch improvements was on my front cover to make the strapline smaller. The two screenshots show that I have changed my strapline to make it smaller as when it was bigger it looked like a cover line. My second front cover improvement was to make the barcode go over the persons body. So I made the barcode go over tom.

IPSO Editors code of practise https://www.ipso.co.uk/editors-code-of-practice/ The Code- It is the cornerstone of the system of voluntary self-regulation to which they have made a binding contractual commitment. It balances both the rights of the individual and the public's right to know. Accuracy- This is when the media company has to make sure that what they are publishing is accurate towards the IPSO guidelines. However if the company is inaccuracy when this must be corrected or they have to write an apology. However the publisher could be sewed by the person they have accused if they have no evidence of what they say. Privacy- This is when the editor has to be careful about what they are writing about someone and they don’t expose any sensitive information. The code says that ‘Everyone is entitled to respect for his or her private and family life, home, health and including digital communications’ so this means that if an editor mentions any of this they can take action against them. For example my magazine cannot expose any of this private information when writing about an artists without their permission. However if the editor has consent from the person they are allowed to mention these topics. Harassment- This is when the editor or journalists cannot engage in any form of intimidation or harassment. This includes not persist in asking questions, telephoning and if they are on someone's property and they are asked to leave they have to leave.
