I recently underwent a pitch presentation to a publisher in which I attempted to present an idea
to a publishing company, and this evaluation has been based on evaluation which is given to me
by the publisher who I pitched to. We received feedback through the form of survey monkey in
which the audience who witnessed my presentation were able to voice their opinion on what
went well, and what I needed to improve in order for my idea for my idea to become more
appealing in future pitches. From the feedback it is strongly identified to me that the main
strengths were the various plans and examples of this is as follows: photography, production
schedule and mood boards. Now the weaknesses have been also identified towards my product
which was the main priority were the calculations for the profit/loss, but also the front cover &
double page spread need some development in terms of the common features which need to be
included, for example puff promotion is what I am lacking on my front cover and on my double
page spread there are a few gaps in the columns and the page number/web address needs to be
formatted and this will be done.
The main response from the first two questions of my feedback questionnaire was that the
majority of the responses were positives with the exception of some negatives but instead of
looking at the positives and just leaving it there I will be mainly looking the negatives and taking
them on board before even acknowledging the positives. The opening question which I will be
analysing from my questionnaire was “Was all of the content fully understood within my
presentation?”, Out of 9 people, 8/9 answered Agree, with 1 particular audience member voting
Disagree which hopefully we can find out what parts of the presentation he did not understand.
The next question was as follows “Was there any content that could be added to the
presentation?”, out of 9 people, 2/3 of the audience said yes and 1/3 said no, Again I am looking to
find out what type of content needs to be added to enable me to generate more appeal towards a
different publisher team.
General Evaluation of Pitch
Prezi Screenshots
As you can tell from the screenshots which were
selected from my Prezi Presentation, you can see
my consistency in the way that this presentation is
structured. Furthermore you can clearly also see
the feedback which is very visible, and you can
already tell that you (the consumers) of my product
have a chance to give feedback to me directly.
Prezi Screenshots
As you can see below, these are just a few slides from my Prezi which display my zoom ins so that the audience from my presentation could see
the adaptations from the fonts, the production plan, the two mood boards and the photography plan. I zoomed in because I felt that it would be
more useful for the audience to see a zoomed in view of the slide instead of a slide which was zoomed out and not useful at all.
Feedback (survey monkey)
Above are 2 questions which were from my feedback questionnaire &the majority of the responses were
positives with the exception of some negatives but I will take on those negatives on board so that I can turn
those negatives into positives. Furthermore the very first question from my questionnaire was “Was all of
the content fully understood within my presentation?”, Out of 9 people, 8/9 answered Agree, with 1
audience member voting Disagree which hopefully we can find out what parts of the presentation he did
not understand as it may be how I come across when pitching this idea for a UK Music Magazine. The next
question was as follows “Was there any content that could be added to the presentation?”, out of 9 people,
2/3 of the audience said yes and 1/3 said no, I am looking to see what kind of content I should be adding in
order to make this presentation better so that my idea for a UK Music Magazine becomes more viable and
more likely for publishers to join us.
Primary Research Screenshots
As you can see from the screenshot to my left,
my peer has filled in a questionnaire in which
his questions along with 9 others will help us
decide what content, genre and what kind of
price we will format for this forthcoming music
magazine.
Additionally, this particular person has voted
for Rock as his preferred genre that he would
like to see for a brand new music magazine.
Therefore we will take this into serious
consideration when deciding the genre for our
music magazine as there has been for some
time now an increased in demand for a new
music magazine of the genre rock since the
mass success of Kerrang Music Magazine.
Primary Research Screenshots
Following the first page of the questionnaire
which was filled out by one of my peers, the
second page entails the final two questions where
we get a fantastic opportunity to work out and
see if this particular person wants to see specific
aspects within a music magazine.
What I mean by this is that we asked “if you
would like to see some free content within a
music magazine” and this person’s reply was yes
in which we believe that the projected answer for
this question over 5-10 will all be yes as customers
are going to say yes to free content as it costs
nothing. Additionally, the second question
pondered “how many hours a week do you listen
to music” and this persons reply was “10-14” per
week which signifies to us that this person loves
to listen to music regardless the occupation &
situation.
Primary Research Screenshots
This is another response from an
questionnaire in which I have handed out to
my peers with this person selecting Truth as
the masthead for our new music magazine.
The reasoning we feel he has chosen this as
the masthead is that he wants genuine &
legitimate double page spread articles as
when he reads our magazine he will feel not
only content but also impressive in the
sense that he wants his prayers to be
answered so our magazine is tailor made
for him. However, we can’t just make a
music magazine that is perfect and tailor
made for 1 customer as we have to reach
out to a mass audience demographic in
order to be as successful as a music
magazine such as Mojo, Kerrang, & Smash
Hits in which we want not only to match
but also eclipse.
Primary Research Screen Shots
As you can see from the screenshot to the
right, this person is what I would call the
premium package in the sense that they would
pay £1.50-£2.00 and we take encouragement
for this as this may just be a coincidence or just
a frequent aspect of the local demographic
who would fill in this music magazine.
Additionally what this would mean is that the
price would not need as much as a
consideration as once anticipated as a result of
this answer we may not need to have a
thorough discussion of a price. However we
have to remember that other factors such as
the genre, title of the magazine and how we
advertise and promote this magazine is equally
important and maybe even more important
than the price so we must remember this when
producing this music magazine.

second question pondered “how many hours a

reply was “15-19” that is a long amount of time
to be listening to music but we know we have
someone here who is obviously keen on music
and therefore will be keen on our brand new
music magazine.
I recently underwent a pitch presentation to a publisher in which I attempted
to pitch our idea for a brand new UK Music Magazine. I received feedback
through the form of survey monkey in which the audience who witnessed
my presentation were able to voice their opinion on what went well, and
what I needed to improve in order for my idea for a UK Music Magazine to
become more appealing towards a publishing. The main strengths that were
included in my pitch were my social media sites, my plans for my production
weeks and photography plan, the adaption for my fonts to just name a few,
furthermore the weaknesses that were identified to me through the form of
Survey Monkey were the calculations for advertising marketing and the
music stars that I would use for my music magazine, Front Cover & Double
Page Spread designs for my music magazine as some of the features of
those designs are not completely finished.
Evaluation
Changes to calculations
As you can see this was the improved version of my costs however the
publisher who I pitched informed me that he did not know how I got
these costs so I had to break them down even further for example I
will include sources. The image to the left of me was the original
profit/loss breakdown, but we and the publisher in who we pitched to
felt that I needed to review my profit/loss breakdown as it seemed too
brief in terms of where did I get the costs from.
To the left of me is the before changes of costs in which I did use
websites for these costs but the websites now seem unreliable as the
publisher in who I pitched to has informed me that the costs look very
unrealistic for the requirements I have defined for each role. I have
therefore taken these comments on board and improved the costs
which is the image above in order to make the costs more satisfaction
for the publisher.
Changes Based On Feedback
As you can see, I have re done the profit/loss
breakdown and have incorporated even more
costs in order to solidify my profit/loss
becoming more legitimate. I have
accumulated how many magazine sales I am
projecting to have over the year and how
many copies we need. In the top image, it
demonstrates simple advertisements of a full
page, a full page advertisement page & half of
a page in order to gain income from
advertisement which you can clearly see I
have accumulated as there are variety of
advertisements in our music magazine.
Feedback from head publisher
These are some feedback comments in which I have received from the
publisher in order to improve my pitch/presentation. I can clearly see that
the publisher has suggested that I should make improvements based on the
teacher feedback in which I have done as I have slightly altered the costs of
the salaries in order to fairly meet the requirements, this feedback has made
me realise that I need to gather the feedback from survey monkey which I
have done in order to evaluate how people thought my presentation went in
terms of the content, suitability & optimization of my pitch/presentation.
Survey Monkey Analysis
Now I will be talking about the main feedback
in which I have received, this feedback is very
beneficial to the improvement of my music
magazine. An example of this is that one
particular consumer has strongly advise me to
alter some of the features on my music
magazine designs which are known as the
front cover and double page spread.
Cost Changes
One of the changes which were identified towards myself as the creator of this music magazine
from the publishing team in which I was presenting to was adapt the salaries in order to meet
the requirements of the descriptions in the job roles and responsibilities. As you can see the left
picture were the figures that were used for the pitch presentation before the advice was given
to me that they should be changed for future presentations so therefore as a result of this
advice I have changed these salaries in order to make my pitch more enticing and appealing to
future presentations in front of publishers.
Survey Monkey Feedback
One of the comments in which I received from one member of the
audience was the following: "Salaries were too low especially when
you stated you want to recruit high calibre candidates". As a result of
this comment, I have changed the salary in order to meet the level of
workers we are looking to hire for our Music Magazine. (The image
below indicates the before and after changes that I have made)
The last question in this questionnaire which I
formatted to the entirety of the audience which
states “Do you have any other comments, questions
or concerns?”The audience voiced their concerns
and comments one of the comments was “Very well
presented in a confident and persuasive manner, he
didn’t read from a script and the eye contact with the
audience was impressive” the comment was very
pleasing and satisfying for me, but also the publisher
voiced his concern in the following “Instagram page
set up had a screen grab with ruler lines in the image,
salaries were too low, source?, could you provide a
clearer breakdown of costs/income, advertising
£1.5m, how?, full page?, half page? And Magazine
pages need to be completed as well?”The comments
that the main publisher has voiced to me was very
helpful as with his constructive criticism will
hopefully help me make my pitch in future
presentations more appealing towards other
publishers. I especially think in order for my music
magazine to become visibly appealing to potential
investors, I would definitely need to improve my
front cover and double page spread in order to
achieve this goal and for publishers/investors to
become much more enticing and appealing towards
the publisher.
Firstly my production plan spans over a week period where the production
plan will be scheduled to take place and we strongly feel that we are feasible
for the upcoming production plan, for example for every day we know what
to do on what days in terms of gathering the content for an issue of a
particular magazine edition.
Furthermore we feel for our legitimate magazine front cover & double page
spread that the total costs including the artist itself, the editor,
photographer & writer would need to be paid and we have that covered
through the form of planning the feasibility plan for the production of our
front covers and double page spreads of our music magazine.

Production Plan

VIDEO OF PITCH
Performance of Pitch
I feel that I have taken all of the weaknesses & criticism on board and made
the necessary adjustments in order to improve the pitch for a future date.
An example of this is the much improved profit & loss breakdown and the
costs that need to be adapted and adjusted in order to meet the job roles
and requirements of the candidates needed. Furthermore the optimization
went well and I fitted the presentation in within the 10 minute limit, & the
ideology I felt came across very well as well as the responding of questions.

Primary Research Screen Shots Following the first page of the questionnaire which was filled out by one of my peers, the second page entails the final two questions where we get a fantastic opportunity to work out and see if this particular person wants to see specific aspects within a music magazine. What I mean by this is that we asked “if you would like to see some free content within a music magazine” and this person’s reply was yes in which we believe that the projected answer for this question over 5-10 will all be yes as customers are going to say yes to free content as it costs nothing. Additionally, the second question pondered “how many hours a week do you listen to music” and this persons reply was “15-19” that is a long amount of time to be listening to music but we know we have someone here who is obviously keen on music and therefore will be keen on our brand new music magazine.
  • 12. I recently underwent a pitch presentation to a publisher in which I attempted to pitch our idea for a brand new UK Music Magazine. I received feedback through the form of survey monkey in which the audience who witnessed my presentation were able to voice their opinion on what went well, and what I needed to improve in order for my idea for a UK Music Magazine to become more appealing towards a publishing. The main strengths that were included in my pitch were my social media sites, my plans for my production weeks and photography plan, the adaption for my fonts to just name a few, furthermore the weaknesses that were identified to me through the form of Survey Monkey were the calculations for advertising marketing and the music stars that I would use for my music magazine, Front Cover & Double Page Spread designs for my music magazine as some of the features of those designs are not completely finished. • 13. Changes to calculations As you can see this was the improved version of my costs however the publisher who I pitched informed me that he did not know how I got these costs so I had to break them down even further for example I will include sources. The image to the left of me was the original profit/loss breakdown, but we and the publisher in who we pitched to felt that I needed to review my profit/loss breakdown as it seemed too brief in terms of where did I get the costs from. To the left of me is the before changes of costs in which I did use websites for these costs but the websites now seem unreliable as the publisher in who I pitched to has informed me that the costs look very unrealistic for the requirements I have defined for each role. I have therefore taken these comments on board and improved the costs which is the image above in order to make the costs more satisfaction for the publisher.
  • 14. Changes Based On Feedback As you can see, I have re done the profit/loss breakdown and have incorporated even more costs in order to solidify my profit/loss becoming more legitimate. I have accumulated how many magazine sales I am projecting to have over the year and how many copies we need. In the top image, it demonstrates simple advertisements of a full page, a full page advertisement page & half of a page in order to gain income from advertisement which you can clearly see I have accumulated as there are variety of advertisements in our music magazine.
  • 15. Feedback from head publisher These are some feedback comments in which I have received from the publisher in order to improve my pitch/presentation. I can clearly see that the publisher has suggested that I should make improvements based on the teacher feedback in which I have done as I have slightly altered the costs of the salaries in order to fairly meet the requirements, this feedback has made me realise that I need to gather the feedback from survey monkey which I have done in order to evaluate how people thought my presentation went in terms of the content, suitability & optimization of my pitch/presentation.
  • 16. Survey Monkey Analysis Now I will be talking about the main feedback in which I have received, this feedback is very beneficial to the improvement of my music magazine. An example of this is that one particular consumer has strongly advise me to alter some of the features on my music magazine designs which are known as the front cover and double page spread.
  • 17. Cost Changes One of the changes which were identified towards myself as the creator of this music magazine from the publishing team in which I was presenting to was adapt the salaries in order to meet the requirements of the descriptions in the job roles and responsibilities. As you can see the left picture were the figures that were used for the pitch presentation before the advice was given to me that they should be changed for future presentations so therefore as a result of this advice I have changed these salaries in order to make my pitch more enticing and appealing to future presentations in front of publishers.
  • 18. Survey Monkey Feedback One of the comments in which I received from one member of the audience was the following: "Salaries were too low especially when you stated you want to recruit high calibre candidates". As a result of this comment, I have changed the salary in order to meet the level of workers we are looking to hire for our Music Magazine. (The image below indicates the before and after changes that I have made) The last question in this questionnaire which I formatted to the entirety of the audience which states “Do you have any other comments, questions or concerns?”The audience voiced their concerns and comments one of the comments was “Very well presented in a confident and persuasive manner, he didn’t read from a script and the eye contact with the audience was impressive” the comment was very pleasing and satisfying for me, but also the publisher voiced his concern in the following “Instagram page set up had a screen grab with ruler lines in the image, salaries were too low, source?, could you provide a clearer breakdown of costs/income, advertising £1.5m, how?, full page?, half page? And Magazine pages need to be completed as well?”The comments that the main publisher has voiced to me was very helpful as with his constructive criticism will hopefully help me make my pitch in future presentations more appealing towards other publishers. I especially think in order for my music magazine to become visibly appealing to potential investors, I would definitely need to improve my front cover and double page spread in order to achieve this goal and for publishers/investors to become much more enticing and appealing towards the publisher.
  • 19. Firstly my production plan spans over a week period where the production plan will be scheduled to take place and we strongly feel that we are feasible for the upcoming production plan, for example for every day we know what to do on what days in terms of gathering the content for an issue of a particular magazine edition. Furthermore we feel for our legitimate magazine front cover & double page spread that the total costs including the artist itself, the editor, photographer & writer would need to be paid and we have that covered through the form of planning the feasibility plan for the production of our front covers and double page spreads of our music magazine. How Feasible is My Magazine & Production Plan

  • 22. I feel that I have taken all of the weaknesses & criticism on board and made the necessary adjustments in order to improve the pitch for a future date. An example of this is the much improved profit & loss breakdown and the costs that need to be adapted and adjusted in order to meet the job roles and requirements of the candidates needed. Furthermore the optimization went well and I fitted the presentation in within the 10 minute limit, & the ideology I felt came across very well as well as the responding of questions. Conclusion
