Rihanna's album "Loud" features close-up images of her face on the front cover, suggesting themes of love, sexuality, and vulnerability. The inside depicts her laying among red roses, implying past heartbreak. Her eyes are closed and body language shows defeat. Imagery of roses, dresses, and her detached expression indicate she was rejected by a partner. Throughout, the color scheme and floral imagery imply themes of love, relationships, and emotional pain.

2. I have chosen to analyse
Rihanna's digipak for her album
loud as she is a successful female
artist that fits into the two genres
I am looking at, pop and hip-hop.

3. Front Cover
The image featured on this front cover is an
extreme close up of the artist’s face. Her red
hair and red lipstick stand out and hold a
connotation of love, possibly portraying a
featured theme of her songs. Her lips are
slightly parted and her eyes are closed,
suggesting a sexual nature. Her basic face and
eye makeup shows a natural and vulnerable
side to this artist. Her closed eyes and lack of
contact with her audience could suggest she is
insecure or maybe in pain or heartbroken from
a previous experience around love.

4. Inside Cover
The colour scheme of red is continued into the inside of the
digipak and shows Rihanna lay out over red roses. Roses
have a connotation of love as they are usually gifted to
people who we love.. Also, her body language shows one of
defeat, reinforcing my previous idea that she may have been
heart broken and that will feature greatly in her songs. She
again is detached from her audience as she has her eyes
closed again, however this time we see more of what she is
wearing. She is wearing an elegant dress that she could be
wearing to a date or her wedding; suggesting she may have
been rejected by a partner.

5. CD Cover
The flower imagery is continued onto
the CD with a white rose being a
prominent feature. The colour theme
has now changed to ones of pink
though. The artists name is on this
CD but it doesn’t stand out greatly.
In a very faint font the name of
the album is underneath the name
of the artists. Also the producers
of this album are written on the
CD. The website address for where
to purchase her album and her
record company are also featured on
the bottom of her CD, something
conventionally found.

6. Back Cover
The colour theme that was
established on the CD has now
been carried out into the back
cover. Conventionally this has a
list of featured songs with
collaborated artists, a barcode is
featured, again the websites for
the label she is signed to and
her personal website is featured.
The image of Rihanna again
shows her looking away from
camera but now we have a long
shot of her body and we can see
she is wearing a simple white
dress and has large beaded
The spine of this album has her
record labels name on ‘Def Jam’
although, her name and album title
is the main focus which is hasn’t
been previously.
