- Your Excellencies, Ladies and Gentlemen. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to briefly address you on the subject of sustainable management of water and water related ecosystems. The Global Water Partnership is honored to be a part of this Conference. Given the time allocation for my remarks, I will focus them on a brief discussion about water and adaptation to climate change, raising some points for us to think about in our roundtable discussions.
- If we fail to adequatelyplan, and implement our strategies in an effectiveway, ….Water Resources and EcosystemsWe run the risk that sustainable management of water to serve the development needs of peoples, will remain illusive and financialinvestments will have been wasted.Adapting to climate change We run the risk that our adaptation responses may actually aggravate the problems and increase the vulnerability of communities rather than increase their resilience to them
- Dealing with the issues of sustainable water management and adaptation to climate change are not short term interventions and have to involve all the development sectors working together. That is the way to succeed.Thank you for your attention.
