Please join The Green Roundtable for a presentation on local Low Impact Development
(LID) case studies and tools that address water consumption and pollution. The financial
and environmental costs of water and stormwater are on the rise in Massachusetts. What
can design professionals, planners, builder owners and managers do to reduce water
consumption and mitigate stormwater pollution? What are the costs of LID strategies
like rain gardens and roof gardens? Mr. Gaertner from the Massachusetts Executive
Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs will present the Smart Growth Tool Kit.
Ms. Cohen from the Department of Conservation and Recreation will outline the
innovative strategies being implemented in the Ipswich River Watershed to address river
flow and water quality problems. Mr. Schmid from Nitsch Engineering will describe the
technical challenges and opportunities regarding stormwater mitigation as it relates to the
redevelopment of Jackson Square in Boston. Come learn about these issues and get
connected to local resources to learn more about Low Impact Development in
Massachusetts.
