The Lewis And Clark Trail
In 1803, U.S. President Thomas Jefferson commissioned an expedition under the leadership of
Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the American Northwest. Together, they led the
Corps of Discovery, which included men from a myriad of professions, including interpreters, fur
trappers, boat builders, gunsmiths, and surveyors. Meriwether Lewis, captain of the expedition, had
been trained prior to the expedition by the country best scientists in the fields of botany, zoology,
celestial navigation, and medicine. William Clark was elected commander–in–chief because of his
invaluable cartography skills, which were essential on trip. His skills helped with mapping most of
landmarks and rivers that were encountered on the expedition, and his final map of the Lewis and
Clark Trail is accurate within 40 miles and spans a distance of 8,000 miles. Another prominent
figure on the expedition was Sacagawea. She spoke Shoshone, Hidatsa, meager French, had
knowledge of edible & medicinal plants as well as Native American customs, and was an invaluable
interpreter that bargained for resources from other Native American tribes. Her most important
contribution to expedition, however, was her presence, a symbol to native tribes of the peacefulness
of the traveling party. The expedition was launched for political, strategic, scientific, and
commercial aims, instead of seeking riches and Christian converts, as other expeditions in the past
have always vied, such as those commissioned by the

Challenges Of Life During The California Gold Rush
The California Gold Rush was a period of time when thousands of people from all over the world
came to California for gold, some were lucky, most were not. California was owned by Mexico
1600–1846. Mexico soon allowed the U.S. to have California as it's own state, and that is when they
found the gold. The California Gold Rush was a difficult time with the challenges people faced
traveling to California, the way the Forty–Niners lived, and the way they used the gold. Thousands
of men and women would bunk on a boat for up to almost a year. When traveling to California, the
men and women on board had to live several months eating old and moldy food, this caused many
to die or become ill. The unhealthy voyage was also very dangerous, they had to go through many
storms, some could even lead to a ship sinking or a person getting thrown overboard. The author
stated " The trip around Cape Horn was a dangerous as well as unpleasant. Ferocious rains and
freezing gales buffeted the vessels, pushing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the California Gold Rush there were many thieves. Many had to hide their belongings due to
the thieves, especially the Chinese. The Chinese were robbed and harassed the most. Most of of
thieves were other foreigners, mostly the Native–Americans because they were mad at the fact that
they took their land. The California Gold Rush caused economic changes. A quote to justify is
"Merchants charged higher prices for supplies as people began to stream into California. Money was
more available than food. Price increases affected everything from eggs to software."(McGill, 1–2).
Many during the California Gold Rush had to leave behind their family behind so they could travel
and get to California without a hassle. They would leave so fast because they believed that the gold
would be gone by the time they got there. The California Gold Rush was not only dangerous but
also risky for those who left their family

Political Pipeline Research Paper
Political Pipeline
Americans have demanded rights from the government for 200 years and also demanded that they
are not infringed upon. This is a reasonable claim, but when it comes to Native Americans, they are
not given their due. The biggest insult to their rights is that of the environmentally dangerous,
falsely advertised, and political money making Keystone XL Pipeline. This political pipeline project
should be abandoned due to the obvious environmental hazards, its political motivation, and the
infringement of the Native American rights.
The environmental risks that come with such a massive pipeline to transport "tar sands" pose a
threat on many levels. As a matter of fact the tar sands they are trying to transport are required to ...

The pipeline route has caused some Native American leaders to be come aggravated at the
proposition of its placement. "Even if the pipeline would not cross their property, tribal leaders say,
it would pose a threat to drinking water and to ancestral homelands on the rolling plains and hilly
riverbeds where they still hold treaty claims" (Thune, John, and Anna Eshoo). It is ridiculous for
TransCanada and the supporters of the Keystone Pipeline to propose this route with the knowledge
of where the Natives are. This is an intentional insult, one they should not get away with. With an
already unstable relationship, why would these polluters think it would be wise to antagonize them.
This project already had many issues following it, but "so strong is their opposition that members
have maintained a spirit camp on tribal property near the planned route. Despite the camp's rustic
accommodations –– a tent, a trailer and no running water –– members have kept a vigil there for
more than a year, and have vowed to use the site as a base camp for protesters if construction ever
begins. Several activists...have said they would risk arrest through civil disobedience" (Thune, John,
and Anna Eshoo). Native Americans were promised rights when they first lost their land to white
settlers and the

Compare And Contrast Freerk V. Ray Freeark
LAWSUIT OVER THE ACCIDENT With the help of a lawyer named Ray Freeark, Jerry files a
lawsuit on April 18, 1972, against the State of Illinois hoping to collect damages in the sum of
$25,000. His case is built on the fact that because of the heavy rain over several days with the
temperature dropping below freezing that night, the state of Illinois was negligent in permitting
flood water to cover U.S. Route 50 where it crosses Silver Creek. Freeark argues that this area was
dry and in good condition when Jerry went to the game and that, following the same route back,
with little or no rain falling, he had no idea that Silver Creek was on the verge of flooding due to
rain that had fallen on the previous two days. The man who operated a wrecking

Southwest Airlines And The State Of Texas
Back in March of 1967, Southwest Airlines was first founded under a different name, Air Southwest
Company, by Rollin King and Herb Kelleher . With his own funds of $500 thousand, Kelleher filed
an application with the Texas Aeronautics Commission for the right to fly commercial airplanes in
the state of Texas. In February 20th of 1968, the Texas Aeronautics Commission voted unanimously,
granting Air Southwest a certificate of public convenience and necessity. The following day, Braniff,
Trans Texas (later known as Texas International), and Continental Airlines obtained a restraining
order from Travis County District, prohibiting the certificate to be delivered to Air Southwest
Company . Air Southwest Company tried to file appeal with the Austin State District Court and the
Third Court of Civil Appeals. Both courts ruled against Air Southwest, forcing Herb Kelleher to
appeal with the Texas Supreme Court. The Texas Supreme Court unanimously voted to overturn the
lower court's decisions and ruled in favor of Air Southwest . In December of 1970, the United States
Supreme Court denied the appeal by Braniff and Texas International to remove Air Southwest
certification . In 1983, Winifred Barnum, a children's author and illustrator, wrote a children's book
based on Southwest's legal fight called Gumwrappers and Goggle. In Jan 1st of 1971, Lamar Muse
joined Air Southwest as the President. In March of 1971, Lamar Muse raised $1.25 million for the
company by selling promissory

Western Migration Essay
As said in our book the United States became a transcontinental nations between the years of 1845
and 1848, increasing the size of the Americas by 50 percent. How was this done? Through things
like annexation, negotiation and wars the U.S gained more than one million square miles. With the
new territory up to the Mississippi River claimed and settled and the Louisiana Purchase explored,
Americans everywhere headed west to explore this new land of opportunities. This Western
migration and settlement, coined "manifest destiny" in 1845 by a newspaper editor to describe the
essence of this mindset, played a major role in this rapid expansion of the United States in 1845 to
1848. During these years of this extraordinary growth we would see farm ... Show more content on

Events such as annexation, negotiation and wars the U.S had gained us more than one million

new westward territory and our mentality of manifest destiny played a major role in this rapid
expansion of the United States in 1845 to 1848, it caused poor families to cross over a half–
continent to Oregon and California in hopes of finding cheap, affordable land and better
opportunities, the migration of the Mormons to the Great Salt Lake in search of religious freedom
and the Gold Rush to California which drew emigrants from everywhere to take advantage of this
new found land and westward expansion. The westward expansion of the United States not only had

The North Coast And Gulf Coast Of Florida
There were a total of 48 counties that were studied along the Gulf Coast. These counties were used
as the regions for how each state was subdivided. The coastal regions were made of 22 regions in
Florida, 2 regions in Alabama, 3 regions in Mississippi, 9 regions in Louisiana, and 12 regions in
Texas. When the entire coastline of Florida was studied, Florida has 1,350 miles of coastline. There
are 35 counties that are along the coastline of Florida. One additional county was used that is not
along the coastline as there was a shark bite at a Disney park. Larger counties were subdivided for a
total of 55 regions; this is similar to the previous research conducted by Amin, Ritter and Kennedy
(2012) [1]. The East Coast and Gulf Coast of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It has a relative risk of 14.55 and a p–value of 0.297. The p–value again is greater than alpha of
0.05, and it is concluded that there is an equal chance of being bitten by a shark across all regions.
Another purely spatial analysis was run to scan for clusters with low–risk rates with a maximum
window size set to 50% as before. The resulting cluster was made of the counties of the northern
most part of Texas, all of the coastal counties of Louisiana and Mississippi and the most western
county in Alabama, which in Figure 9–12 is represented by regions 57–71. There is a relative risk of
0 and a p–value of 0.000016 (see Figure 8). Since the p–value of 0.000016 is less than alpha of 0.05,
the null hypothesis that there is an equal chance of being bitten by a shark is rejected; it can be
concluded that there is a lower risk in this region than all other regions studied as represented in
Figures 9–12. When the retrospective space–time analysis is run in SaTScanTM for high rates,
produced four clusters, but none of the p–values are less than alpha at 0.05. It appears that from
2004 to 2005, the risk of being bitten by a shark was heightened, and there is a relative risk of 22.46
(see Figure 13). When scanning for low rates, there was a relative risk of 0 from the coast of eastern
Louisiana to the central part of the Gulf Coast of Florida for 1994 to 1998 (see Figure 14). The p–

Comparing and Contrasting the Novel and Movie Version of...
Comparing and Contrasting the Novel and Movie Version of The Grapes of Wrath
John Steinbeck wrote the The Grapes of Wrath in 1939 to rouse its readers against those who were
responsible for keeping the American people in poverty. The Grapes of Wrath tells the story of the
Joad family, migrant farmers from Oklahoma traveling to California in search of an illusion of
prosperity. The novel's strong stance stirred up much controversy, as it was often called Communist
propaganda, and banned from schools due to its vulgar language. However, Steinbeck's novel is
considered to be his greatest work. It won the Pulitzer Prize, and later became an Academy Award
winning movie in 1940. The novel and the movie are both considered to be wonderful ... Show more

The movie does not discuss in depth the vast significance of this route. On the other hand, Chapter
12 of the novel describes how Route 66 is a river of immigrants. This interchapter explains how the
thousands traveling Route 66 are refugees from the troubles in the East, giving a better description
of the time period. Finally, the movie never describes in depth the economic situation of California
during the 1930's. In the movie, the story ends leaving the viewer with the image of California as a
land of prosperity. However, the novel attacks the economic situation of California with rage in
Chapter 25. In this interchapter, Steinbeck describes how a surplus can make prices so low that the
farmers have no income, or how the supply of farm goods can be so scarce that the goods are priced
too high to sale. This situation plagues California, and farmers are thrown in poverty. This chapter
shows how California is not a safe haven for farmers, but a harsh, devouring environment. The
interchapters in the novel form of Grapes of Wrath describe in detail the time period of the storyline,
while the movie leaves the spectators unaware of the actual situation of the migrant farmers in the
1930's.
In the novel form of Grapes of Wrath, Steinbeck uses different literary elements, which are not
present in the movie, to provide a deeper meaning of the story. One major element in the novel that
is absent in the movie is Steinbeck's use of

Human Trafficking In China
"In 2004, and estimated 800,000–900,000 people, every year, were being trafficked worldwide"
(Yik–Yi Chu 40). It has increased much since then. Human trafficking is a big problem, not only in
China, but all over the world. People are not aware that human beings are being treated as property
and they need to know in order for this to be resolved.
Human trafficking is threatening or abducting people for exploitation. People, mostly gangs, kidnap
men, women, and children to sell them on the 'sex trade' or use them to do hard labor. The money
being made by using and selling people is much more than any other selling business, like drugs or
exporting goods. This makes more people want to start in the trade. In order for money to be made,
its is usually means smuggling people through borders. "If human trafficking is such a worldwide
problem, it means that the government is losing control over their borders, not just in China or the
U.S. but all over the world" (Yik–Yi Chu 42). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The traffickers themselves have become very sophisticated. "They have developed extremely
complicated routes, that they change frequently" (Yik–Yi Chu 43). When the police think they
figured out the path, the smugglers have already moved on to another one. The market for
trafficking people is mostly towards the wealthy parts of China, which is in the West. The wealthier
the people the more the traffickers make. If the traffickers are making so much, they'll want more
and then even more people will be taken. There is a large emigration history in China, which is one
of the reasons trafficking started. When people were emigrating in and out of the country, it was
harder to track missing

The Massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his Explorers in...
Two events took place in the mid–19th century in the United States that set the stage for a third
which became an historic turning point in American history. The settlement of Mormons in Utah
and their pursuit to establish their own government coupled with explorations to develop the
transcontinental railroad laid the groundwork for the massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his
explorers in 1853 which took eight lives. As massacres go, the loss of eight people was not
numerically remarkable. What made the Gunnison Massacre exceptional is that it catapulted into the
American conscious. Both Mormons and American Indians entered the spotlight of American
attention, and the resulting outrage forever changed American sentiment and government ... Show

The Corps described the topography, route, buildings and culture of an assigned survey area, made
sketches of routes and distances, noted important observations, and kept a journal of daily
movements when the army was on the march. To accomplish this, such an expedition team would
typically include surveyors, a geologist, botanist, astronomer, meteorologist and an artist.
Transcontinental railroad After the United States acquired so much more territory, the push for
expansion accelerated and spurred development of an American transcontinental railroad line. The
California Gold Rush of 1848 fanned the flames of westward exploration and settlement. One of the
biggest challenges was finding the most suitable route. Businessmen were eager to expand their
horizons and capitalize on new western markets. In 1845, an early proponent of a transcontinental
railroad, Asa Whitney, led an exploratory team along the route he envisioned from Chicago to
northern California. As a highly successful dry goods merchant and locomotive manufacturer in
New Rochelle, New York, Whitney traveled widely to solicit support from other businessmen and
politicians. He proposed selling land to settlers along the route to finance construction. Whitney
printed maps and pamphlets and submitted several proposals to Congress. He was thwarted,
however, by southern business interests who opposed his plan because they would not

Description Of The Road Trip
Road Trip It was the morning of July 5th, 2015. My alarm sounded off at around 4:30 AM telling
me it was time to get ready and head out. I grabbed my duffle bag full of clothes, got in my truck,
and headed to my girlfriend's house who lives five minutes away. I pulled into the driveway with
excitement rushing through my body. She was standing there, all packed, wearing a Boston Red Sox
hat. We had gone shopping the night before for food and drinks we thought we needed. We had a
cooler full of ice and piled everything up in there and placed it in the trunk of our car along with our
tent, blankets, and other miscellaneous items we were going to need. Multiple pillows lined the
backseat, and a trashcan was placed on the floor to collect our ... Show more content on

Downstairs we picked up some breakfast that the hotel provided, checked out, and then got back on

the first big city we stopped in was Nashville. We parked in a garage and walked around for a
couple hours, taking everything in. stores lined Main Street, filled with cowboy boots and souvenirs
that could draw anybody's attention. Knowing that we were on a tight schedule, we bought a few
souvenirs then were on our way to the last stop of the day. We know found ourselves in the
boondocks of Lebanon, Tennessee. I turned onto the dirt road that led to the campground we would
be staying at. After taking almost twenty minutes to set up our tent, we threw our air mattress inside
and were forced to blow it up on our own, since the electric pump decided to short circuit. The
humidity was so heavy that I nearly passed out because of it, but we both managed to make it
through the night safely with only a few bug bites. We were on the road again in the morning
heading to our next hotel in Arkansas. The landscape began to open up, and on either side I could
see fields of corn span for miles. After hundreds of miles, we made it to our next spot and got some
much needed sleep. The next day, we crossed over into Oklahoma. The landscape wasn't much
different here, but this is where we met Route 66. We first visited the Route 66

Similar Or Are The United States And Rome Similar?
In the ancient rome people were executed for just looking at someone wrong or even stating their
opinion. Is the United States and Rome similar or are they not? No they are not, Rome and the U.S.
are not similar at all.
The first reason that Rome and the United States are nothing alike is that Rome had emperors, one
supreme power that could change whatever they wanted to. This caused there to be many unjust
laws such as the government killing innocent people for absolutely no reason at all. Since there was
only 1 supreme power taxes were really high also and these taxes were used to help pay for the
emperors fun and games. The United States however has 3 branches of government that helps
balance out power between the government. An example

Southwest Airlines Expanded Beyond The Border Essay
WHY SOUTHWEST AIRLINES EXPANDED BEYOND THE BORDER Southwest Airlines,
while an incredibly successful business, eventually made the decision to make the dive into the
international market. This decision was made on a variety of factors such as opportunity, overfares,
diversifying, and Southwest Airline 's own flattening growth on the domestic front. In the world of
business it 's a dog eat dog world. Competition is fierce and a lot of the time opportunities need to
be created as opposed to be taken advantage of. Southwest Airlines managed to do both of these at
the same time due the type of business they run as a value added business. Southwest Airlines took
their business and its low cost strategy to make opportunities. One such opportunity that is
referenced comes from an article written on Travelskills.com called 'Southwest Airlines adds new
Mexico flights from Bay Area ' quotes the Port of Oakland 's aviation director Bryan Francis, "said
that Los Cabos, in particular, 'is the most requested international destination from the East Bay and
North Bay that does not have a non–stop option. '". Southwest Airline 's has seized upon this request
and has sought out government approval to fly between Oakland and Los Cabos. This is not an
opportunity that was created by Southwest Airlines, but an opportunity which was created by the
lapse in coverage by the rest of the airlines who fly from those airports. This is the exact type of
lapse that creates opportunities for

War And Trade Between 1783-1860
War and Trade In between 1783–1860, the United States had many trade routes. One of the biggest
traders we have partnered with is Europe. We have traded about a value of $50 billion dollars or
more with Europe. Europe and America did not have conflict, there was too much at stake. Both
were making a lot of money off of each other, so if they went to war they would both most likely
lose money.War and trade were overlapping other places possibly because of money , also because
of who is trading with who and what they're trading. Trading agricultural goods and industrial goods
was a good thing, until trade partners started fighting. If trade led to war it had to have been because
of money. It also could have been because

Bill Williams Town Description
A Visit to Williams Williams, AZ, is a historic town located west of Flagstaff in Coconino County.
With a population of a little over 3000 permanent residents, Williams seems like just any other small
town lost in the mountains of northern Arizona, but nothing could be further from the truth. In an
area originally called Wii Gvʼul by the indigenous Havasupai people, the town of Williams was
founded in 1881 and incorporated in 1901. Bill Williams, a locally renowned scout, trapper, and an
all–around Mountain Man, was the inspiration for naming the town. Bill Williams Mountain, just
south of town, is also named for him. And, of course, the "Old Bill" statue still stands in Memorial
Park. Although Bill Williams is not a household name outside ... Show more content on

Railroad (GCR), has its main depot and terminus in Williams. Started by the Atchison, Topeka, and
Santa Fe Railway in 1901, early GCR passengers included famed naturalist John Muir who wrote
how impressed he was with the railroad's limited impact on the local environment. Costs for the 64–

wanted to spend the night at the Grand Canyon. Constructed just 20 feet from the edge of the South

The rise in automobile ownership after World War II caused suspension of operations of the GCR in

1918 Air Mail History
In 1918 the Post Office Department took over control of the United States air mail system from the
War Department. The department purchased aircraft and hired as well as trained pilots to fly the new
airmail routes across the United States. Throughout the years the air mail system faced many
difficulties. As the Post Office Department found ways to deal with these difficulties they slowly
began improving the infrastructure of the air mail system. The money that the government was
allotting for this new air mail system began to attract contract carriers. This infrastructure and
money provided by the U.S government began paving the way for commercial aviation today (US

Virgin Atlantic Airline Current Status
Virgin Atlantic Airline Current Status Today Virgin Atlantic finds itself in a year of change. With a
new CEO at the helm, new aircraft arriving in the fall of 2014, and a new partnership, major
changes are underway. 2013 saw pay freezes for personnel, eliminating a layer of management,
redesign of food trays, and other cost cutting measures. The trend for 2014 has been to keep
tightening the financial belt and reign in the high cost draining the company's revenue. The
implementation of the new routes with Delta should support the financial turnaround and help make
Virgin Atlantic profitable again. Changes in Virgin Atlantic's operations are already starting.
Preparations for the new flight schedule is in the works. Delta has collocated its Heathrow
operations with Virgin Atlantic in Terminal 3 for all flights to Boston, New York, and Seattle to
facilitate transfers between the two airlines (Virgin Atlantic, 2014). Virgin Atlantic has opened up its
Upper Class offering at Heathrow, to Delta's Business Elite, SkyMiles Diamond and Platinum

Ted Talk Debate Summary
Summary – Ted Talk and Debate
I watched two videos about Mexico's drug cartel this week, a Ted Talk and a debate on whether the
U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug War. The Ted talk focused on the business aspect of drug
cartels, which is something that I don't hear very often. The debate video was two teams debating to
sway the audience's opinion on whether the U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug Wars. While each
person had their own unique ideas, it seemed likely most or all of them agreed on one point, and that
was that the U.S. did share some of the responsibility for the drug war. In both videos, they
discussed the business side of the drug cartels. The bulk of this conversation happened in the Ted
Talk, although there were a few short discussions in the main debate that I listened to. ... Show more

While it should be logical that an organization with the reach and profits that a drug cartel has
would have to have great organization or distribution/production routes, it is not something that I
have ever heard talked about before. Most of the time when I think of drug gangs or cartels, I think
of the (somewhat fake or cheesy) henchmen you see in movies, or the small–time, local gang
members that you hear about on the news. The highest person I had heard about was El Chapo, and
even that was focused more on his escape than his background or why he was in jail in the first
place. I also did not know that the U.S. has created such a huge demand for drugs, and I feel like
that is something that is not something that I would not have been able to "stumble" across, so to
speak. It completely surprised me that over 50% of the world's drug demand has come from the

Air Defense Artillery On The Vietnam War Essay
Air Defense Artillery's Role in the Vietnam War
SSG Arsenault, SSG Everett, SSG Powell, SGT Kencsan
ADAALC
(INTRODUCTION) In August 1964, Vietnamese DRV torpedo boats attacked two U.S. destroyers
in the Gulf of Tonkin. President London B. Johnson ordered the retaliatory bombing of military
targets in North Vietnam. Shortly after the incident, U.S. congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin
Resolution, giving President Johnson war–making powers, and U.S. planes began regular bombing
raids (Reference http://www.history.com/topics/vietnam–war/vietnam–war–history ). In Vietnam,
the US enjoyed virtual air supremacy. Nevertheless, Air Defense Artillery (ADA) units were able to
distinguish themselves and prove their versatility by providing fire support to ground forces. ADA
earned more than 450 medals for valor, receiving more than 1000 Purple Hearts, and one
Congressional Medal of Honor awarded to SGT Mitchell Stout (Reference
http://www.usc.edu/dept–00/dept/armyrotc/branches/air_defense.html ). Despite there being no
confirmed aerial engagements, Air Defense Artillery played a vital role in the Vietnam War, and
were at times crucial to battle success, proving their versatility, adaptability, flexibility. Air Defense
Artillery (ADA) got its origins in the Coastal Artillery Corps. During World War I (WWI), planners
saw a need for antiaircraft artillery to protect ground forces from the newly emerging aerial threat

Earth’s Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic
Earth's Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic
Professor Pollack's lecture on the transformation of the Arctic provided a good overview on the
potential socio–economic and geopolitical impacts brought by climate change. The harsh conditions,
severe storms, ice cover, and long periods of darkness in the Arctic have made human exploration
and habitation difficult. Driven largely by interacting forces of climate change and increased human
activities, the Arctic region is warming at twice the global average since 1980 [1].
As the Earth keeps warming, the Arctic's summer sea ice is vanishing at a stunning pace. This rapid
melt is expected to have significant environmental and health consequences for the entire world,
including sea level rise, affecting agriculture, endangering water and food security, erosion of
coastal habitats, increasing intensity of natural disasters, and species extinction. Countries have
since responded to climate change by adapting to its impacts and acceding to various international
treaties such as the Kyoto Protocol to mitigate green house gas emissions, thereby reducing the rate
and magnitude of change.
On the flip side, the loss of sea ice could allow greater human access to the region with the potential
for increased maritime transport, tourism, exploitation of natural resources such as fisheries and
most importantly, oil and gas. The summer ice cover in the arctic has dropped by more than 40
percent over the last few decades,

The Realism Theory Of The War On Afghanistan
There are, however, aspects that disqualify the realism theory in examining the War in Afghanistan.
For example, realism explicitly applies to relations between nations and consequently, war between
countries. This was not the case, since the war did and still does not involve conflict between
America and Afghanistan. Rather the war was between America and the Taliban government that
supported the infamous terror group, al Qaeda. For this reason, realist theory does not explain this
highly controversial war. Another aspect that contravenes realism as an appropriate theoretical
approach to understanding the War in Afghanistan is that fact that, America toppled the Taliban
government within its first few months of the invasion. Realism cannot, as a result, explain why
American troops and those of allied forces have not yet been pulled out of Afghanistan more than a
decade after war started (Bird and Marshall 37).
Another principal attribute that disqualifies realism in debunking the Afghanistan War is the fact
that America made concerted efforts to gain support from the United Nations (UN) before
commencing the invasion. This contravenes the assertion put forth by the realist theory that, a nation
does not take the international system or organization into consideration when taking actions
directed towards safeguarding its survival. The autonomous action stipulated in realism is
particularly essential when a state is threatened and cannot afford to trust other nations. In

At that time, HTD would receive $172,000/ truck in U.S funds FAS (free alongside ship) at the
discharging vessel in Doha. If the buyer wants to change the selling term to FOB (free on board),
which means that the buyer pays for the transportation of goods, HTD can give a discount of
$2109/truck, which is considered as the expense of transportation to Doha when HTD has the FAS
term.
Answer question 3 with regard to changing the terms of sale to delivery at port in Baltimore. The
buyer would unload the trucks from the railcars
The buyer wants to change the terms of sale to delivery at port in Baltimore and unload the trucks
from the railcars, HTD can offer a discount of $ 1790/truck (handling = $200 + ocean freight rate =
$1,440 + insurance = $150), which is the total expense including fee for handling, the ocean freight
rate, and the insurance fee.
There is an interest rate that would make HDT change from one routing to another An rate of
interest that can cause a change in the routes would be calculated by
Assume that interest rate = i, we have $109, 470 + ($172,000 x 50 x 22 / 365i) = $137,300 => i =
0.054 = 5.4% (<8%)
If i= 5.4% the cost will decrease compare to i = 8%. When substituting this rate in the equation for
the Chicago route, the cost is less than the Baltimore route.

the trucks were delivered, and the company should only pay for

Essay on Should Congress Repeal the Private Express Statutes?
In July 2009, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) listed the budget of the United States
Postal Service as "high risk" and recommended oversight from Congress and the Executive Branch.
Specifically, the GAO stated that "Amid challenging economic conditions and a changing business
environment, USPS is facing a deteriorating financial situation in which it does not expect to cover
its expenses and financial obligations in fiscal years 2009 and 2010" ("Restructuring", 2009, pg. 1).
The GAO claimed that the mail volume in 2009 would likely decrease by about 28 billion as

If the mail monopoly were removed, then private companies would quickly gain control of the most
profitable routes, leaving the postal service with universal obligations but no profits and therefore
no funding with which to serve these routes. Many economists have challenged this urban to rural
subsidy. In a testimony to the President's Commission, Robert H. Cohen, an economist and the
Director of Office of Rates at the USPS, demonstrated evidence that universal service does not
depend on a postal monopoly. In regards to the urban to rural cross subsidy, Cohen (2003) claimed
that "the proportion of unprofitable routes in the U.S. is approximately the same for urban and rural
areas" (pg.2). Cohen conducted this study by examining "rural carrier routes" and created a list of
these routes ordered by the number of mail boxes delivered per mile of the route (pg. 14). Since
these rural routes inevitably include some urban routes as well, Cohen (2003) only looked at the
bottom 60% of his list, or those routes which deliver the least amount of mail (pg.14). He found that
of these routes, 53.1% are profitable and 46.9% are unprofitable earning a total profit of $175
million in 1999 (pg. 14). In comparison, 56.5% of the urban routes that he looked at were profitable

Keystone Pipeline Pros And Cons
From the pipelines that I looked at the most economically and politically viable would be the
keystone pipeline. This is because the United States of America and Canada are very close to each
other, which creates less distance for the pipe to travel through, nor does it need to be built to
withstand an underwater tunnel, such as the Poseidon Pipeline and the Nabucco pipeline. This
means that the pipeline costs less to build, as less piping must be built, and it does not need any
special materials: With a decrease in the cost, it means that there is more profit in the energy
pathways. Furthermore, all three energy pathways that I researched showed that the pathway only

Over the years, America has been involved in numerous conflicts. One of the most controversial has
been the Vietnam War. Even though the United States Military failed in its efforts in the war against
Vietnam, the military has learned valuable lessons about our forces during the conflict. Anti–
Aircraft weapons were used during the Vietnam War, and their capabilities have increased over time
to become what is now called Air Defense. Air Defense's equipment, units, and personnel played a
critical role especially during the ambush on Route 9 of the Vietnam War. The Vietnam War took

The greatest encounter by an Air Defense Artillery unit would be the ambush on route nine. Route 9
began at Dong Ha on highway one and ran parallel to the DMZ, it travelled west through Camp J.J.
Carroll and ended at the Marine combat base at Khe Sanh. (Sill–www.army.mil, 2017). At 1140
hours on Jan. 24, 1968, a two–truck convoy traveling from Camp Carroll to Cam Lo along route
nine began receiving small–arms fire. Upon arrival, the occupants of both vehicles warned a convoy
pulling out of Cam Lo about the enemy fire that they were receiving, but the Marine captain
disregarded the warning. (Sill–www.army.mil, 2017) The convoy approached a bridge across Mieu

rifles, and RPGs. Shocked by the incoming fire the convoy stopped and took cover along the road.

Dogfight over Europe: Ryanair (A)
In April, 1986, the upstart Irish airline Ryanair announced that it would soon commence service
between Dublin and London. For nearly a year, the new airline had operated a 14–seat turboprop
between Waterford, in the southeast of Ireland, and Gatwick Airport on the outskirts of London. The
founders of Ryanair, brothers Cathal and Declan Ryan, felt that service on that first route had
developed well. They knew, however, that the Dublin–London route would pose new challenges.
For the first time, they would face Aer Lingus, British Airways, and other established competitors
on a major route.

Intra–country service was also regulated strictly. To varying degrees, domestic fares were set by
government authorities, and entry by new airlines was discouraged.
The collapse of European empires and the advent of jets capable of crossing the Atlantic
economically led virtually all European flag carriers to refocus their international efforts on routes
across the North Atlantic in the late 1950s. Heavy and growing demand for transportation to and
from North America made such routes highly profitable, at least initially.
Europe's system of regulation soon came under pressure. A late–1950s attempt to unify the flag
carriers of France, West Germany, Belgium, and Italy collapsed under the weight of disparate
national interests. By 1960, the Economist magazine bemoaned the state of the heavily regulated,
fragmented airline industry. "The basic trouble," it concluded, "remains that the world has too many
airlines, most of them inefficient, undercapitalised and unprofitable."4 Though the IATA introduced
some forms of restricted, discount fares in the 1950s, consumers grew dissatisfied with high prices.
European regulations applied largely to regularly scheduled service between destinations. To bypass
these regulations and to tap pent–up demand for leisure travel, charter airlines appeared and grew
rapidly during the 1960s. These start–ups, funded in part by shipping companies, offered holiday
makers cheap fares on

that you are flying with them, when in reality you are flying with other company. Other point
important to say about the employment after the deregulation act is that a lot of people stay without
employment because a lot of major airlines filed bankruptcy. In 1978 there were 15 legacy carries,
such as American Airlines, Pan American or Eastern. In 2016 there is only 3: American Airlines,
United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines. A portion of the 13 that no longer existed merged with other
airlines, but other finish flying. One example is Easter Airlines which had the headquarters in
Miami. That means that a lot of the people work for them. In general they had 18,000 workers.
When they finished flying in January 19, 1991, 5,000 employees lost their jobs, and other 13,000
lost their jobs moths after. This is just one example, but it happen with other two, and the merge of
the other also meant some lost jobs along the

Exploring the Lewis and Clark Trail

  • 1. The Lewis And Clark Trail In 1803, U.S. President Thomas Jefferson commissioned an expedition under the leadership of Meriwether Lewis and William Clark to explore the American Northwest. Together, they led the Corps of Discovery, which included men from a myriad of professions, including interpreters, fur trappers, boat builders, gunsmiths, and surveyors. Meriwether Lewis, captain of the expedition, had been trained prior to the expedition by the country best scientists in the fields of botany, zoology, celestial navigation, and medicine. William Clark was elected commander–in–chief because of his invaluable cartography skills, which were essential on trip. His skills helped with mapping most of landmarks and rivers that were encountered on the expedition, and his final map of the Lewis and Clark Trail is accurate within 40 miles and spans a distance of 8,000 miles. Another prominent figure on the expedition was Sacagawea. She spoke Shoshone, Hidatsa, meager French, had knowledge of edible & medicinal plants as well as Native American customs, and was an invaluable interpreter that bargained for resources from other Native American tribes. Her most important contribution to expedition, however, was her presence, a symbol to native tribes of the peacefulness of the traveling party. The expedition was launched for political, strategic, scientific, and commercial aims, instead of seeking riches and Christian converts, as other expeditions in the past have always vied, such as those commissioned by the ... • 2. Challenges Of Life During The California Gold Rush The California Gold Rush was a period of time when thousands of people from all over the world came to California for gold, some were lucky, most were not. California was owned by Mexico 1600–1846. Mexico soon allowed the U.S. to have California as it's own state, and that is when they found the gold. The California Gold Rush was a difficult time with the challenges people faced traveling to California, the way the Forty–Niners lived, and the way they used the gold. Thousands of men and women would bunk on a boat for up to almost a year. When traveling to California, the men and women on board had to live several months eating old and moldy food, this caused many to die or become ill. The unhealthy voyage was also very dangerous, they had to go through many storms, some could even lead to a ship sinking or a person getting thrown overboard. The author stated " The trip around Cape Horn was a dangerous as well as unpleasant. Ferocious rains and freezing gales buffeted the vessels, pushing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the California Gold Rush there were many thieves. Many had to hide their belongings due to the thieves, especially the Chinese. The Chinese were robbed and harassed the most. Most of of thieves were other foreigners, mostly the Native–Americans because they were mad at the fact that they took their land. The California Gold Rush caused economic changes. A quote to justify is "Merchants charged higher prices for supplies as people began to stream into California. Money was more available than food. Price increases affected everything from eggs to software."(McGill, 1–2). Many during the California Gold Rush had to leave behind their family behind so they could travel and get to California without a hassle. They would leave so fast because they believed that the gold would be gone by the time they got there. The California Gold Rush was not only dangerous but also risky for those who left their family ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Political Pipeline Research Paper Political Pipeline Americans have demanded rights from the government for 200 years and also demanded that they are not infringed upon. This is a reasonable claim, but when it comes to Native Americans, they are not given their due. The biggest insult to their rights is that of the environmentally dangerous, falsely advertised, and political money making Keystone XL Pipeline. This political pipeline project should be abandoned due to the obvious environmental hazards, its political motivation, and the infringement of the Native American rights. The environmental risks that come with such a massive pipeline to transport "tar sands" pose a threat on many levels. As a matter of fact the tar sands they are trying to transport are required to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The pipeline route has caused some Native American leaders to be come aggravated at the proposition of its placement. "Even if the pipeline would not cross their property, tribal leaders say, it would pose a threat to drinking water and to ancestral homelands on the rolling plains and hilly riverbeds where they still hold treaty claims" (Thune, John, and Anna Eshoo). It is ridiculous for TransCanada and the supporters of the Keystone Pipeline to propose this route with the knowledge of where the Natives are. This is an intentional insult, one they should not get away with. With an already unstable relationship, why would these polluters think it would be wise to antagonize them. This project already had many issues following it, but "so strong is their opposition that members have maintained a spirit camp on tribal property near the planned route. Despite the camp's rustic accommodations –– a tent, a trailer and no running water –– members have kept a vigil there for more than a year, and have vowed to use the site as a base camp for protesters if construction ever begins. Several activists...have said they would risk arrest through civil disobedience" (Thune, John, and Anna Eshoo). Native Americans were promised rights when they first lost their land to white settlers and the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Compare And Contrast Freerk V. Ray Freeark LAWSUIT OVER THE ACCIDENT With the help of a lawyer named Ray Freeark, Jerry files a lawsuit on April 18, 1972, against the State of Illinois hoping to collect damages in the sum of $25,000. His case is built on the fact that because of the heavy rain over several days with the temperature dropping below freezing that night, the state of Illinois was negligent in permitting flood water to cover U.S. Route 50 where it crosses Silver Creek. Freeark argues that this area was dry and in good condition when Jerry went to the game and that, following the same route back, with little or no rain falling, he had no idea that Silver Creek was on the verge of flooding due to rain that had fallen on the previous two days. • 5. Southwest Airlines And The State Of Texas Back in March of 1967, Southwest Airlines was first founded under a different name, Air Southwest Company, by Rollin King and Herb Kelleher . With his own funds of $500 thousand, Kelleher filed an application with the Texas Aeronautics Commission for the right to fly commercial airplanes in the state of Texas. In February 20th of 1968, the Texas Aeronautics Commission voted unanimously, granting Air Southwest a certificate of public convenience and necessity. The following day, Braniff, Trans Texas (later known as Texas International), and Continental Airlines obtained a restraining order from Travis County District, prohibiting the certificate to be delivered to Air Southwest Company . Air Southwest Company tried to file appeal with the Austin State District Court and the Third Court of Civil Appeals. Both courts ruled against Air Southwest, forcing Herb Kelleher to appeal with the Texas Supreme Court. The Texas Supreme Court unanimously voted to overturn the lower court's decisions and ruled in favor of Air Southwest . In December of 1970, the United States Supreme Court denied the appeal by Braniff and Texas International to remove Air Southwest certification . In 1983, Winifred Barnum, a children's author and illustrator, wrote a children's book based on Southwest's legal fight called Gumwrappers and Goggle. In Jan 1st of 1971, Lamar Muse joined Air Southwest as the President. In March of 1971, Lamar Muse raised $1.25 million for the company by selling promissory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Western Migration Essay As said in our book the United States became a transcontinental nations between the years of 1845 and 1848, increasing the size of the Americas by 50 percent. How was this done? Through things like annexation, negotiation and wars the U.S gained more than one million square miles. With the new territory up to the Mississippi River claimed and settled and the Louisiana Purchase explored, Americans everywhere headed west to explore this new land of opportunities. This Western migration and settlement, coined "manifest destiny" in 1845 by a newspaper editor to describe the essence of this mindset, played a major role in this rapid expansion of the United States in 1845 to 1848. Events such as annexation, negotiation and wars the U.S had gained us more than one million square miles, increasing the size of the Americas by 50 percent. Another purely spatial analysis was run to scan for clusters with low–risk rates with a maximum window size set to 50% as before. Comparing and Contrasting the Novel and Movie Version of The Grapes of Wrath John Steinbeck wrote the The Grapes of Wrath in 1939 to rouse its readers against those who were responsible for keeping the American people in poverty. The Grapes of Wrath tells the story of the Joad family, migrant farmers from Oklahoma traveling to California in search of an illusion of prosperity. The novel's strong stance stirred up much controversy, as it was often called Communist propaganda, and banned from schools due to its vulgar language. On the other hand, Chapter 12 of the novel describes how Route 66 is a river of immigrants. This interchapter explains how the thousands traveling Route 66 are refugees from the troubles in the East, giving a better description of the time period. Finally, the movie never describes in depth the economic situation of California during the 1930's. In the movie, the story ends leaving the viewer with the image of California as a land of prosperity. However, the novel attacks the economic situation of California with rage in Chapter 25. In this interchapter, Steinbeck describes how a surplus can make prices so low that the farmers have no income, or how the supply of farm goods can be so scarce that the goods are priced too high to sale. This situation plagues California, and farmers are thrown in poverty. This chapter shows how California is not a safe haven for farmers, but a harsh, devouring environment. The interchapters in the novel form of Grapes of Wrath describe in detail the time period of the storyline, while the movie leaves the spectators unaware of the actual situation of the migrant farmers in the 1930's. Human trafficking is a big problem, not only in China, but all over the world. People are not aware that human beings are being treated as property and they need to know in order for this to be resolved. Human trafficking is threatening or abducting people for exploitation. People, mostly gangs, kidnap men, women, and children to sell them on the 'sex trade' or use them to do hard labor. Two events took place in the mid–19th century in the United States that set the stage for a third which became an historic turning point in American history. The settlement of Mormons in Utah and their pursuit to establish their own government coupled with explorations to develop the transcontinental railroad laid the groundwork for the massacre of Captain John Gunnison and his explorers in 1853 which took eight lives. As massacres go, the loss of eight people was not numerically remarkable. What made the Gunnison Massacre exceptional is that it catapulted into the American conscious. Transcontinental railroad After the United States acquired so much more territory, the push for expansion accelerated and spurred development of an American transcontinental railroad line. The California Gold Rush of 1848 fanned the flames of westward exploration and settlement. One of the biggest challenges was finding the most suitable route. Businessmen were eager to expand their horizons and capitalize on new western markets. In 1845, an early proponent of a transcontinental railroad, Asa Whitney, led an exploratory team along the route he envisioned from Chicago to northern California. As a highly successful dry goods merchant and locomotive manufacturer in New Rochelle, New York, Whitney traveled widely to solicit support from other businessmen and politicians. He proposed selling land to settlers along the route to finance construction. Whitney printed maps and pamphlets and submitted several proposals to Congress. President London B. Johnson ordered the retaliatory bombing of military targets in North Vietnam. Shortly after the incident, U.S. congress passed the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, giving President Johnson war–making powers, and U.S. planes began regular bombing raids (Reference http://www.history.com/topics/vietnam–war/vietnam–war–history ). In Vietnam, the US enjoyed virtual air supremacy. Nevertheless, Air Defense Artillery (ADA) units were able to distinguish themselves and prove their versatility by providing fire support to ground forces. ADA earned more than 450 medals for valor, receiving more than 1000 Purple Hearts, and one Congressional Medal of Honor awarded to SGT Mitchell Stout (Reference http://www.usc.edu/dept–00/dept/armyrotc/branches/air_defense.html ). Despite there being no confirmed aerial engagements, Air Defense Artillery played a vital role in the Vietnam War, and were at times crucial to battle success, proving their versatility, adaptability, flexibility. Earth’s Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic Earth's Changing Climate: The Transformation of the Arctic Professor Pollack's lecture on the transformation of the Arctic provided a good overview on the potential socio–economic and geopolitical impacts brought by climate change. The harsh conditions, severe storms, ice cover, and long periods of darkness in the Arctic have made human exploration and habitation difficult. Driven largely by interacting forces of climate change and increased human activities, the Arctic region is warming at twice the global average since 1980 [1]. As the Earth keeps warming, the Arctic's summer sea ice is vanishing at a stunning pace. This rapid melt is expected to have significant environmental and health consequences for the entire world, including sea level rise, affecting agriculture, endangering water and food security, erosion of coastal habitats, increasing intensity of natural disasters, and species extinction. Countries have since responded to climate change by adapting to its impacts and acceding to various international treaties such as the Kyoto Protocol to mitigate green house gas emissions, thereby reducing the rate and magnitude of change. On the flip side, the loss of sea ice could allow greater human access to the region with the potential for increased maritime transport, tourism, exploitation of natural resources such as fisheries and most importantly, oil and gas. Rather the war was between America and the Taliban government that supported the infamous terror group, al Qaeda. For this reason, realist theory does not explain this highly controversial war. Another aspect that contravenes realism as an appropriate theoretical approach to understanding the War in Afghanistan is that fact that, America toppled the Taliban government within its first few months of the invasion. Realism cannot, as a result, explain why American troops and those of allied forces have not yet been pulled out of Afghanistan more than a decade after war started (Bird and Marshall 37). Another principal attribute that disqualifies realism in debunking the Afghanistan War is the fact that America made concerted efforts to gain support from the United Nations (UN) before commencing the invasion. This contravenes the assertion put forth by the realist theory that, a nation does not take the international system or organization into consideration when taking actions directed towards safeguarding its survival. The autonomous action stipulated in realism is particularly essential when a state is threatened and cannot afford to trust other nations. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 33. Essay on Should Congress Repeal the Private Express Statutes? In July 2009, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) listed the budget of the United States Postal Service as "high risk" and recommended oversight from Congress and the Executive Branch. Specifically, the GAO stated that "Amid challenging economic conditions and a changing business environment, USPS is facing a deteriorating financial situation in which it does not expect to cover its expenses and financial obligations in fiscal years 2009 and 2010" ("Restructuring", 2009, pg. 1). The GAO claimed that the mail volume in 2009 would likely decrease by about 28 billion as compared to 2008 and that the USPS would likely see declining volumes for the next five years ("Restructuring", 2009, pg. 1). Clearly, the USPS is currently facing a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the mail monopoly were removed, then private companies would quickly gain control of the most profitable routes, leaving the postal service with universal obligations but no profits and therefore no funding with which to serve these routes. Many economists have challenged this urban to rural subsidy. In a testimony to the President's Commission, Robert H. Cohen, an economist and the Director of Office of Rates at the USPS, demonstrated evidence that universal service does not depend on a postal monopoly. In regards to the urban to rural cross subsidy, Cohen (2003) claimed that "the proportion of unprofitable routes in the U.S. is approximately the same for urban and rural areas" (pg.2). Cohen conducted this study by examining "rural carrier routes" and created a list of these routes ordered by the number of mail boxes delivered per mile of the route (pg. 14). Since these rural routes inevitably include some urban routes as well, Cohen (2003) only looked at the bottom 60% of his list, or those routes which deliver the least amount of mail (pg.14). He found that of these routes, 53.1% are profitable and 46.9% are unprofitable earning a total profit of $175 million in 1999 (pg. 14). • 34. Keystone Pipeline Pros And Cons From the pipelines that I looked at the most economically and politically viable would be the keystone pipeline. This is because the United States of America and Canada are very close to each other, which creates less distance for the pipe to travel through, nor does it need to be built to withstand an underwater tunnel, such as the Poseidon Pipeline and the Nabucco pipeline. This means that the pipeline costs less to build, as less piping must be built, and it does not need any special materials: With a decrease in the cost, it means that there is more profit in the energy pathways. November 21, 2007 Dogfight over Europe: Ryanair (A) In April, 1986, the upstart Irish airline Ryanair announced that it would soon commence service between Dublin and London. For nearly a year, the new airline had operated a 14–seat turboprop between Waterford, in the southeast of Ireland, and Gatwick Airport on the outskirts of London. The founders of Ryanair, brothers Cathal and Declan Ryan, felt that service on that first route had developed well. They knew, however, that the Dublin–London route would pose new challenges. Intra–country service was also regulated strictly. To varying degrees, domestic fares were set by government authorities, and entry by new airlines was discouraged. The collapse of European empires and the advent of jets capable of crossing the Atlantic economically led virtually all European flag carriers to refocus their international efforts on routes across the North Atlantic in the late 1950s. Heavy and growing demand for transportation to and from North America made such routes highly profitable, at least initially. Europe's system of regulation soon came under pressure. A late–1950s attempt to unify the flag carriers of France, West Germany, Belgium, and Italy collapsed under the weight of disparate national interests. By 1960, the Economist magazine bemoaned the state of the heavily regulated, fragmented airline industry. "The basic trouble," it concluded, "remains that the world has too many airlines, most of them inefficient, undercapitalised and unprofitable."4 Though the IATA introduced some forms of restricted, discount fares in the 1950s, consumers grew dissatisfied with high prices. European regulations applied largely to regularly scheduled service between destinations. To bypass these regulations and to tap pent–up demand for leisure travel, charter airlines appeared and grew rapidly during the 1960s. With the signature of the act by Jimmy Carter started a new beginning of a never seen before airline approach in the United States. This new approach did not just changed the way passengers experience airline aviation with the freedom of pricing and routes, but it affected as well other areas such as aviation safety and employment. Its creation encouraged development by relying in a competitive market that was going to determine the variety, quality and price of air services. The air carrier employment went up a 50% since 1978, one of the reasons been that a lot of new low cost carries were created after the act. One of the thing that all airlines made in order to gain more money they contract third companies to do some jobs, so that they do not have to pay benefits to them. This even happen with the airplanes in a way. You can see a Continental airplane and seems that you are flying with them, when in reality you are flying with other company. Other point important to say about the employment after the deregulation act is that a lot of people stay without employment because a lot of major airlines filed bankruptcy. In 1978 there were 15 legacy carries, such as American Airlines, Pan American or Eastern. In 2016 there is only 3: American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines.
