The student wrote a story called "Under Water Adventure" about a pink dolphin that can talk. They chose fantasy and adventure genres and set it in the sea. My Story is called “Under Water Adventure”
The Planning Process:
I chose to write an adventure and fantasy genre story because we wanted the
character to talk so it has to be fantasy. And we wanted to write about an
adventure plot. The most interesting thing about my main character is that it
is a pink dolphin that can talk. We chose to set the story in the sea because
our main character is a dolphin.While making my plot diagram, I found it
difficult to have the same idea as the other people in my group because we
didn’t agree with each other.My best idea during planning was having a very
bad character called the purple octopus.
The Drafting & Revising Processes:
It was enjoyable to write my story draft because we’ve already planned all the
things we had to write.I am proud of my story because it took many steps.
During the Writing Workshops, I learned how to use dialogue, onomatopoeia,
and flash backs.I became better at writing.While talking to Jacqueline Harvey,
I learned that one first book can take many years to write.If I wrote it again, I
would try to improve my story by adding action scenes.
Digital Production and Editing:
I am proud of my movie because my drawing is very good.I found it enjoyably
to create the storyboard because I like to draw.My role was to be the
illustrator.I worked especially hard at drawing the dolphin for the screen.
The thing I am most happy with is the drawings.While making the movie, I
learned many new technology skills in iMovie. I became much better at
iMovie.If I made the movie again, I would try to be the scriptwriter so I could
try new writing strategies.
Collaboration:
Sometimes, I enjoyed group work because we can have many ideas. Other
times, I didn’t enjoy group work because we didn’t agree. While working in a
group, I learned to use each others’ idea and put it together.During the unit,
our group became better at working together.
What else?
During this story-telling unit I especially enjoyed making the movie because
we can work in teams. After this unit, I will continue to use iMovie to makes
stories and films.
