2. 1- USES
We use the verb to be:
A- to say who somebody is or what something is. I’m
Sam. That’s my pencil
B- to describe something or somebody. He is tall.
C- to say where somebody is from. We are from Brazil.
D- to talk about people’s jobs. She is a teacher.
E- to talk about somebody’s age. I’m eleven.
F- to say how you feel. We are tired.
G- to say where somebody or something is. The pencil is
on the table.
H- to talk about somebody’s health. I’m fine.

My name is Richard.
She isn’t Japanese. She is Korean
- Are you and Terri in the same band?
- Yes, we are.
-How are you today?
-I’m fine. And you?
-Where are you from?
- I’m from Italy.
-What is this?
- It’s a ruler.
-Where is Tony?
-How old are you?
- He’s in the bedroom.
- I’m fourteen years old.
