2. “It’s when I sleep that I can see clearly”, the poet said.
However, all of us want to see clearly also when we are awake.
When we picture an optic centre, we imagine a clear, bright, intelligent
and rational space. We leave out any confusion or ambiguity, being
conscious of the functions that are to be developed through the activity
that we undertake.

3. Location
Located along the Kesavadasapuram road.
Nearest public transport facility is the LIC
bus stop which is 110m away.

4. Peculiarity of location
Pattom is largely a residential area, houses few
important administration offices of Kerala State
besides few shopping complexes.
Shops are stacked on either side of the roads, making
it a visual chaos with shop signage, advertising boards,
etc.
It is a place where one can find a regional branch of
every other prominent brand and labels.
Since Pattom makes as one of the busy intersections in
Thiruvananthapuram with the meeting point of four
major roads, it is a region of huge traffic.

The shop signage includes a
combination of royal blue and
imperial red lettering over white
background. Neon lighting has
been used to highlight the
border as well as the subtext.

8. • White background surface gives the most workable combinations, but beware of that white can absorb its
environment. Black lettering tends to be squeezed into the background making it hard to read. Lower contrast
lettering gives better results like blue, orange and red.
• White backgrounds can be used specific sign projects where design plays a bigger part than the actual wayfinding.
For instance using silver lettering on a white background can give fabulous results, due the shadow of the silver
lettering the text becomes readable on the white surface.
• Advisable work areas: Museum signage, office building signs, pylon signage, retail signage, hospital signage,
indoor & outdoor usage.

• The color theme wasn’t
incorporated uniformly in all

• Window displays weren’t
considered.

their side of the counter.
