This slide goes with the Explain, Explore, Experience section of the Presentation Plan.
Say this:
•"The second area in the We Space is Tabs. Tabs are options for each channel. Some tabs, like Conversations and Files, are in every channel. But then, you can add different tabs based on what you need for the channel."
•"For example, because this is the general channel for the Language Arts 101 class team, the teacher has added tabs that include assignments and the syllabus."
•"If we selected the ”Elements of Fiction” channel in the Left Rail, the Class Nav would change from General to Elements of Poetry. The tabs would show the content the teacher has added for that channel. For example, there would still be a conversation tab and a files tab, but there might also be a tab for group norms, project directions, and book lists."
•"You’ll get a chance to explore the wonders of tabs a little later."
Do this:
•Further highlight what you are talking about by pointing to the screen.
Time Frame: 30 seconds (max)

Say this:
•"The third main area to know in Teams is the Canvas."
•"The Canvas is essentially the work space for whatever you have selected."
•"On this screen shown, we see the work space for the Conversations tab in the General channel in the Language Arts 101 team, which happens to be a class."
•"Remember, when you set up your Microsoft Teams app, your teams could also be something else, such as a PLC group or after-school club."
•"If you select a different tab, channel, team, or app, the Canvas will change to show the work space for whatever you have selected."
•"For example, when you select Chat in the App Bar and a specific chat in the Left Rail, the Canvas will show the messages within that chat. Or, if you select the Syllabus tab, the Canvas will display the syllabus document."
Do this:
•Further highlight what you are talking about by pointing to the screen.
Time Frame: 3 minutes (max)

•"Got that? Me Space, We Space and Canvas. Check out the Teams Spaces Takeaway for reminders of what’s in each space."

“Let’s get ourselves familiar with how meetings work by playing with the Meet now function.”
“Get into groups of 5 people.”
“Then practice launching a private chat, and also accepting a call.”
“Then I want you to explore on your own, and try out all of the different buttons.”
“How do you add people?”
“How do you share a screen?”
“We breezed over this in the demo, with the idea that you’d poke around a bit here on your own.”
“There is also an extra challenge option for launching a meeting from a conversation. Please don’t rush, and do this only if you have time left over.”
“I will be right here if you need me.”
“You can also refer to the Meetings activity handout and the Meetings in Teams takeaway as you work.”
“Go at it, and have fun!

“Okay, so now that we’ve spent some time playing with Class Notebook, you’re probably wondering how you’ll go about getting the assignment you just built out to your students. Let’s see what that looks like.”

Create a class team continued…
Say this:
“We’ve talked a lot now about the benefits of working with students within Teams.”
“Now we’re going to get into the nitty gritty of what working in Teams with students really looks and feels like.”
“This information is also in the How to create a class team takeaway in your handouts, so keep that in front of you to take notes on if you need to.”
“This is just as an overview, so don’t worry if you’re not tracking everything quite yet.”
“We’re going to break down each element of this more slowly as we go through everything today.”
“So here’s the deal: all of the student-facing work you do in Teams will happen within what’s called a class team.”
NOTE: If your district doesn’t allow teachers to create their own teams, say the following: “In our district, our class teams are already created for us. However, sometimes permissions change, so I’m going to take you through how to create them anyway. We’ll really focus on channels, because those you can personalize.”
“To create a team for your class, you’ll select Join or create a team from the left rail.”
Time frame: 1 minutes (max)
