PROJECT SCOPE STATEMENT
Description of Product/Service Offered
The project is about creating a community garden that does not benefit members in terms of increasing food security and provision of fresh and high-quality farm product but also lead to reduction in the distance covered and time taken before farm products are presented to the consumers. This will improve the quality of life of members in overall. Apart from primary product /services named above, the project will improve community cohesiveness as it will stimulate social interaction. The project will also play an imperative role in boosting green campaigns in Oklahoma, Tulsa County in addition to improving income and creating more employment opportunities.
Specification of the Acceptance Criteria
The members are other beneficiaries must be assured the farm products targeted to be produced will be fresh and free from chemical. The project states that the primary objective is provide healthy foods, meaning methods of production must be strictly organic. Secondly, the head of the project must assure members vegetables and fruits must be provided without any intermittency once the project commences. Thirdly, the members must agree with the Tulsa County that project will not be a nuisance both in environmental degradation or noise pollution and in any other form.
The Project Deliverables
Provision of organic foods; the community garden project will aim at ensuring member access fruits and vegetables that are chemical free.
Food security; the project will ensure community members are provided with various food products ones the project kicks off without any interruption.
The Project Exclusions, Constraints and Assumptions
The project will not delve on admitting members from outside Oklahoma State as it is purely a local affair. It will also not be limited to members of any race or ethnic group.
One of the major constraints will be the limitation of funds. Community garden project can demand more but it will limit its budget estimate because of the hard-economic times. Time limitation may also be presented especially where some members will not be available during the meeting times.

require real members who must not be less than five. It will also
need to be allocated sufficient piece of land and be permitted to
carry out farming and other activities by Tulsa County
management board.
The Tangible Measures of Project Success
Project success will be measured in terms of improvement in
health of the members. Improved neighborhood will also act as
another milestone for measuring success of the project. Other
measures of success will entail increase in wealth due to
improved saving from foods and increase in employment
opportunities either directly or indirectly.
PROJECT ASSUMPTIONS AND CONSTRAINTS
The project team will assume that the project will produce
vegetables and fruits enough to cater for the needs of all
members. This will be based on the fact that provision of fresh
and healthy food will be the primary goal. Therefore, everything
must be done to make sure it will be sufficient for all members.
Moreover, it will also be assumed that the land acquired will be
able to cater for all the intended uses, which ranges from
hosting all members at ago to having enough space for farming.

5. CREATION OF A WORK-BREAKDOWN STRUCTURE
The work breakdown structure indicated below reflects a
series of larger deliverables that will need to be achieved
through splitting them into smaller structures. It is worth noting
that the major project is relate to the creation of a new
community garden park. Therefore, this forms the major aim of
the project. However, the major aim is divided into three sub-
categories of work breakdown structures. These are creation of
the beds and planting sites, creation of the playing field, and the
creation of the temporary meeting grounds.
It will be heard to achieve the first objective without
dividing it into different smaller deliverables to increase
efficiency of the whole process. First, it will need to come up
with a bush clearing program that will be measured differently.
Its performance will be measured on its own to ensure there is
improved efficiency. The second deliverable will be related to
the initial Ploughing and it will entail the inclusion of the
different activities that will lead to a better Ploughing
procedure. The creation of the beds will be deemed another
important deliverable that will lead to the improved efficiency
of the whole land preparation and creation of the beds for
planting. Indeed, the actual creation of beds will be monitored
as a separate objectives to make sure it has been carried out in
the most efficient manner. Apart from that, planting will be
perceived another objective that will be categorised under the
first class of the second phase of deliverables. The fruits and
6. vegetables will need to be planted, which means that the whole
planting process will be measured as a separate deliverable that
will need to be achieved on its own. Lastly, field management
practices also form another vet of deliverables. This means that
procedures such as weeding, pest and disease control, watering,
and thinning among others will be measured as one single
entity. Their efficiency will be measured as one form of
deliverables that will be measured as one single entity and
deliverable that can lead to the efficiency of the final results
being expected, which are related to the improvement of the
crop yield.
The second set of deliverable in the second phase will be
related to the creation of a playing field. This is because the
structure will also be deemed an imperative structure that will

may be based on factors such as the gradient and the soil
structure found there. There levelling process will be the second
objective and will entail levelling of the identified field.
Marking of the playing court will be another important
deliverable that will determine whether the whole management
and creation of a playing field has been achieved. Lastly, the
second objective will also entail the determination of a different
field management procedures such as mowing of grass on a
regular basis and watering of the field to make it look green and
ever beautiful. Therefore, the individual success of each and
every procedure will determine the success of the whole
procedure related to the creation of a playing field.
The last part is related to the creation of a temporary
meeting ground of the members whenever they come together.
They will need to have a special place where they can relax as
they chat and try to get more acquainted to one another. It is
worth noting that the whole project will also entail holding of
different parties and other social events in order to make it
lively and good. Therefore, making of the meeting venue will be
a very important objective that will act as the first objective of
7. the third deliverable. Such procedure will be vital as it will
earmark and differentiate between the court and the meeting
venue to avoid overlapping of the field especially during a busy
day. Creation of benches and other temporary structures will be
a second objective that must also be achieved to make sure the
place for social events is well catered for in the first place. The
members will need somewhere they can sit as they try to chat.
Therefore, all structure that will be deemed important in
achieving such an objective will be deemed important. The last
objective will related to the embracing of different management
practices. This will entail carrying out of the all maintenance
procedures such as clearing of the over grown grass and
collection of any waste that may accumulate especially after
holding a meeting. As a result, this will determine then ultimate
realisation of the good meeting ground.
It is worth noting that creation of a community garden park
can never be achieved without breaking down the major
objective into a set of distinct deliverables that can achieve with
much ease. Therefore, the categorization of it into three major
deliverables and further decomposition into individual
objectives will be the whole project feasible and one that can be
achieved within a given duration of time and limited budgetary
resources.

used in project management, which was designed to analyze and
represent the tasks involved in the realization of a specific

Here, Critical Path Analysis (CPA) is an algorithm for planning
a set of project activities. It is often used in conjunction with
the Program Evaluation and Reviewing Technology (PERT).
As we know that critical path is a longest path, hence it will be

When the critical path that the project is scheduled to take takes
longer than the sponsor, and senior stakeholders expect, the
project team should immediately start resource planning. The
20. resources available should be examined and reorganized to
ensure that they can fully meet the needs of the extended
project. Besides, the milestones should be defined and
effectively acknowledged. Certainly, in this situation, crashing
will be the appropriate technique to employ (Herroelen & Leus,
2005). The reason behind this is that in crashing, resources will
be added so that they speed up the various activities or rather
the processes. This will make it possible to achieve the results
which could otherwise be achieved after a long time in a
relatively lesser time. For the case of fast-tracking, even though
speed will be increased in the processes, the results stand a
chance of being compromised.
Apparently, fast-tracking is always adopted first when there is
the need for time reduction when it comes to project execution.
The technique ensures that different events are conducted
simultaneously, and this helps save time. However, the
technique has a limitation in that it can only be achieved under
some limits but when the limits are exceeded. For instance, the
project team will have to be patients until the concrete dries up
before the next step which is painting starts. Crashing, on the
other hand, has an advantage of significantly reducing the total
time and applies to most projects (Merkle, Middendorf &
Schmeck, 2002). This technique is not limited to the processes
like fast-tracking. This technique’s main risk is that it tends to
consume more resources and therefore may cause profound
losses to the project. The main risk associated with fast-tracking
is the fact that when it is applied in processes where the limits
have already been met, it can cause more problems to the entire
problem such as the destruction of the entire project. For the
case of fast-tracking, when done beyond some level, it may end
up consuming high amounts of monetary resources thereby
causing immense problems to the entire project.
