2. Making the audience think
There are many attractions in our opening sequence
that can attract the audience. One of the
attractions that my group and I used in the
opening sequence was the use of enigma. The
use of enigma in our opening sequences allows
the audience to think about what is going to
happen next. Not only does it allow the audience
to think and gain pleasure from thinking and trying
to solve a puzzle, it also creates excitement within
the audience meaning they want to know what is
going to happen next but yet can’t see it so they
become excited.
3. Reaction
As a part of our opening sequence, we wanted the
audience to go through some emotions, but
emotions they would enjoy when watching the
sequence. Because our target audience is a
younger age (15-25 year olds), we wanted the
audience to experience emotions such as fear and
shock. I myself as a young adult aged 17, I love
feeling these emotions as sometimes it can lead to
adrenaline rush which feels amazing when you’re
watching a movie. I also enjoy tense scenes. My
group and I aimed to create an opening that
pleases most people who were the same age as
us.
4. Media Techniques Used
During our opening sequence, we used some media
techniques in order to engage the audience and to
attract them to what was going on in the opening.
One of the techniques that we used was the use of
knowing what the killer is up to. For
example, when the killer was on the computer
looking at the next victim, us as an audience knew
that she was going to be targeted next, but that
character does not know anything of the killers
existence. This will make the audience want to
know what the killer is going to do to that girl and
this attracts the audience.
