Lugo is how it’s called a municipality of
Spain, whose capital is also named as

the Northwest of Spain, in the

The city, of Roman origins, was founded in the year 25 BC
by Paulo Fabio Maximum, and is the oldest in Galicia.
Numerous Roman remains bear witness to his early history,
especially its Roman wall, wich is the only Roman wall in the
world that retains its perimeter, and it was declared a World

cathedral (Catedral de Santa María de Lugo) was declared
World Heritage site, as unique building linked directly to the
‘Camino de Santiago’, and this Cathedral has the papal
privilege of Permanent exposition of the Blessed
Sacrament, that's why the chalice and the host appear in the
coat of arms of the city.

5. Ies Nosa Señora dos Ollos Grandes
Ies Nosa Señora dos Ollos Grandes (in Galician), is our high school. The old Nacional Highschool
of Middle school of Lugo split in two in 1941, one male and another female institute, because of
the ideological ideas of that time, but in 1984, in times of democracy, the school started tu accept
boys in the school, even though the name didn't change.
That's how the “Instituto Feminino de Lugo” became in what is now a building of the Provincial
Deputation. In 1955-56 it became officially the “Instituto Nacional Feminino de Ensinanza Media”,
of Lugo. Then the director commanding that year, added “Nuestra Señora de los Ojos Grandes” to
that name.
